Join me as i have a look around and test drive the Mercedes-Benz Actros 1845 Truck with 450hp, and features the flat floor in the cab. Is it a great all round truck..? Let’s find out!
On the MP4 Actros in Australia we run the steel coil sprung cabin rather than the airbags, gives a much less floaty/pitchy ride, feels very connected to the road.
I'm not sure if anyone else on RUclips can make a half an hour long video that would be as interesting for me as you can. Thank you very much, Stavros!
22:36 The gearbox doesn't change the gear in low speed if you are braking. You have to stop and then its changing the gear if you are braking all the time. So just don't use the brake like all the time when you are coming to the intersection. Let the brake like 1 sec before the intersection and then it change instantly in low speed. 👍 It's all about the how you are using brakes.
HI Stavros i drive a volvo FM GLOBETROTTER normally my company got a 2545 Actros on demo in. I did a 600 mile trip and found the Actros a very good truck all round
The first I shift Volvo I drove was around 2003 and I had the same experience, get to the roundabout and see a gap and go.... nothing happened as the truck spent ages trying to find the best gear, it seemed like a lifetime! Also I had a DAF with the auto box and pulling up a big hill in Cornwall on the A30 at nearly full weight the truck started slowing as I would expect, then it stopped as it couldn't work out the gear it needed....stopped on a busy road in a live lane isn't the best place to be. After a few seconds we were off again at a snails pace to the top. Another great video
Pill Sharks ahha not to worry! Long time ago then. Can't imagine to many people would have been fond of you stopping on the big hill, then crawling off at a snails rate.
tim fagan I remember I was only a young lad and the company had given me this DAF super space cab to test out as they were about to upgrade their lorries, up until that point I thought it was a great truck. I'm not a driver anymore but I remember hating going from a manual to a auto until I drove the truck around any busy areas especially very congested areas likes London and Paris and then I was sold on the idea! I think they've come on better since the early days
Try prepare truck before hill computer is not you he can feel truck engine but you can i dont now do Volvo i shift had manual by you shifting option like my Actros Mp4 so prepare truck dont wait shift to do everything he can
Great video Stavros.Thats a pretty decent cab. The narrow cab, I dont know who thought that was a good idea🤔. The mirrors do create blind spots! You would need min 500hp for 46T. You could select manual for roundabout. 👍
Wow! you nailed the most irritating problem with any automated mercedes trucks.. I experience it almost daily. Changing to the right gear, when asked for it. At a round about, or a traffic light. It can not decide what gear it must select..
Thank you again for a wonderful informative look at a new truck, love your car truck and whatever vehicle reviews you have done, again thank you Stavros. I am a huge fan and long time driver of Mercedes wagons from 1988, sadly not this truck as had to retire early ill health before this model came out but did have a cabbie (drive) in a SLT Agency work not as a driver but begged and pestered and got a short drive. The Mercedes wagons have always been soft on the way the cab rolls, to the extent that drive a different wagon go back Merc i was feeling sea sick, happened more the a few times over the years. Again i liked this with full air on cab and front axle (very last Mega cab Merc... Spoilt rotten), Also you are right the ride is way better in a 6 axle truck and come to think of it, refueling a small tank was not a problem but it was when refueling two small tanks each side at the same time at fuel stations out on the road.
Nice video! I don't even drive a truck and i found this entertaining. One thing, at 19:19 you seem to imply that 2200 nm of torque is related to the 330 kW figure somehow, but obviously the kW is the "proper/scientific" measure of the horsepower and not the torque. There is a German RUclipsr "Sascha LKW Fahrnünftig" that drives an Actros, and he's also complaining about wrong gears sometimes, especially when trying to set off quickly from a short stop at a traffic light etc., when it doesn't have the right gear engaged already. So that's apparently a common complaint with this gearbox, which Mercedes-Benz will surely address in future models to keep the drivers happy.
Hi mate. Are you quite friendly with Rory Lynch? Or did you drive for him once? You're lucky to be able to use so many of his trucks to test. Great video once again
Having driven one of those, although a rigid, I agree very much with what you say. The gearbox is infuriating at times. When you have stopped and want to set of, it suddenly starts thinking about it and even hunting gears sometimes. It can be outright dangerous, if you are not used to it. Once you get going, it's ok. Slow, but it's no big deal. Although I don't have any other complaints about it, it works well, comfortable enough etc, I just did not like it. It feels very sterile and uninviting inside. It rather drive a basemodel Scania or Volvo. They just feel more "homey" and welcoming to me. That being said, I really like the exterior design of the Actros. It's definitely one of the best looking trucks imho
Having driven a rigid Actros too, it's like you read my mind. I hated having to stop with it since it took ages for it to figure out which gear to use when I wanted to go again, regardless of the load. Seats and the gauges were nice, the switches were relatively logical and easy-ish to get used to and overall it felt very German and refined, but god the gearbox sucks.
It does look a nice truck but I'm a Scania man at heart, be it the 6 cylinder or the big V8. Once driven, forever smitten I guess. Great video as usual Stavros.
Good video, and your comments about the budget and quality of trucks is important to note... I am sure all trucks have issues, which is expected, but as long as the manufacturers work on resolving and improving the rig, that is what matters. My only experience with driving these trucks is in Euro Truck Simulator, so it is good to find out the problems and niggles that RL drivers have, and I bet the truck makers value this feedback. Keep up the good work, and please continue to test out all the truck brands!
I know Alot about mercedes and its trucks, The cab pitching to much is for stability reasons because otherwise you would have a BIG problem with if the cab was not that pitchy, yeah that would be a big bang
best explination for this garbage actros, I was driving this new actros and the gearbox is a bullsh!t, as you said for roundabouts, you think u can gap, but when you try to accelarate, its already a bit late and you should stop to wait,,,
I think the 18 & 25 are the tonnage they can take... So u can see that all trucks with 20 and above are 6x2 and mostly 33 upwards are 6x4. It also depends whether it has an air suspension or a steel suspension... Let me know if you want more information on that 😊
We’ve had three actros all three of them have had new gearbox twice in one of three cases they still are not right there body is 90% plastic and doesn’t hold together well all the bolts to change the bulbs and panels etc and bad torques and are usually rusted in place and round off the gearbox is the biggest problem as well as the Adblue systems which again all of ours have had new ones and the dealer support from Orwell trucks is absolutely shocking as they never have any parts in never anything in stock not even a brake calliper!! The gearbox has a complete mind of its own when you come to a roundabout it’s like rolling a dice ad to what gear you end up in it could be 1st maybe 11th shocking for a 64 plate and for a company like Mercedes
American's mpg and Imperial's mpg are different, right? So i think when you convert that American's 7-8 mpg you'll get around 9-10 mpg on the Imperial's unit.
I do believe BMW trucks & buses do exist, but 'unofficially' under the MAN brand name....over the years i cannot help but notice the many fundamentally subtle characteristics in terms of design philosophy even the 'feel factor' in the way it sounds etc. which leads me to my observation & belief that the MAN is practically a BMW in the world of trucks & buses ?!?
How do Europeans feel about Semi trucks having the Mercedes logo. Does that bother them? And for a Mercedes, it lacks quality you expect from a Mercedes. The 2019 Freightliners in America look like a S500. Also the interior is very Mercedes like. I badge out my Freightliner with Mercedes logos. Technically it’s a Mercedes.

Stavros969 great video 🇨🇮🚛👌👍
What's the year on her
Reece Howard the year is in the description box
On the MP4 Actros in Australia we run the steel coil sprung cabin rather than the airbags, gives a much less floaty/pitchy ride, feels very connected to the road.
Stavros you gotta remember that Mercedes haven't being making lorry's as long as the other manufactures
This gentleman is just a joy to watch thanks for the videos

Another great video
Pill Sharks what hill in Cornwall? Tis hellish hilly in kernow.
tim fagan Not far from the Devon border after loading cheese from Davidstow.... can't remember the exact location as this was at least 12 years ago!
Pill Sharks ahha not to worry! Long time ago then. Can't imagine to many people would have been fond of you stopping on the big hill, then crawling off at a snails rate.

Stavros in the Actros. What more do ya want? Love these videos
I like the Actros!
Really nice looking trucks these MP4 actros. Nice to drive also. Another great review Stavros ☺️
The best or nothing (Mercedes Benz)
I'm happy I got someone who reviews TRUCKS for real... this is rear
A motorway with two lanes is really just a duel carage. Another great review Stavros

Please do a video on IVECO Eurostar/MAN F2000/Mercedes Benz SK
Stavros, not the only video that mentions the lazy or non existent gear change on the Actros.
Great videos Stavros, you explain things really well. In your opinion, which truck manufacturer has the best build quality?
please teast the new gen renault or new man or the daf xf. keep being fabolous stavros
Thanks Stavros,good video as always..👏🏼👏🏽👏🏼
If you have a fleet, which truck will you choose as a boss?
The gearbox is more than great but you have to activate the power mode and everything is cool. Greetings, Stavros
Hi mate. Are you quite friendly with Rory Lynch? Or did you drive for him once? You're lucky to be able to use so many of his trucks to test. Great video once again
I think that's his dad
Considered stavros' surname is "stavros lynch" I'd not be surprised if it was a family business.
@@theenglishbiker8293 I didn't know his surname
keep up the good work Stavros greetings from Dubai.
Kindly Please do review on Volkswagen Constellation!
I have an idea for a catch-phrase for you! "It's no Scania." ;)
Great review! Thanks!
I'm new to trucking, and I'd love to know what people find so appealing about Scania, on paper Volvo seem to be better but like I said I'm no expert
Nice tone from that 12.8 Engine
Great video Stavros, but I pity anyone having to drive an Actros. Swede all the way.
Very clear to speak nice explain mean i like your blog
Great truck - very classy!

Stavros please make a separate video of Mercedes Benz Actros 4163 SLT
A nice looking yoke that actros
I would always have a manual gearbox more fun will you do erf or foden
It does look a nice truck but I'm a Scania man at heart, be it the 6 cylinder or the big V8. Once driven, forever smitten I guess. Great video as usual Stavros.
I think it's very soft to drive, i wanna drive that.maybe someday i drive that kind of trailer
Be great if you could get an example of all three of the Cabtec trucks from the late 80s and test them, if there's any still around
Realy like the truck nice video

Great video, looks like a truck for comfort more than performance! Did I spot a Gaskings hoodie?

Do a daf and Renault magnum review please
In mulgrew s we have two 630 mercs nice looking trucks but I wouldn't step out of my R580 for one

Decent truck....But scania s series is DA BEST !!!
Good video
Mr stavros I want to request Peterbild, Mack or Volvo VNL Truck, And just up to you Mr which want you explain about the truck. Thanks...
My favourite truck Scania R450 truck and Mercedes actros 1845 truck my favourite 2 truck
I can't not driving I like to model truck
I drive the actros is uncomfortable the bed is crap and it’s bad on fuel you can’t beat a Daf XF best truck I’ve ever drove
Stephen Trundle ... DAF? Euro 4 same jepan truck and ugly truck .. yeah the new daf euro 6 nice not old daf
Daf XF is worse on fuel, I drive 2013 Daf and it's 8,4 mpg
Sergei Perlov I get between 8-9mpg out of the actros @50 mph that’s fully loaded 44 ton still rather have a Daf than Mercedes
best explination for this garbage actros, I was driving this new actros and the gearbox is a bullsh!t, as you said for roundabouts, you think u can gap, but when you try to accelarate, its already a bit late and you should stop to wait,,,
You should Do a old Volvo 2005 reveiw
Personally I prefer Daf xf 106 with the superspace cabin
Please price in USD
As soon as possible
Regards
sometimes the truck doesnt want to go into gear and I end up standing behind green light like a dufus.
This one has a detroit DD 15??
do show the headlamps on road
Kinda odd I find these so interesting as I cant even drive irl .
What is the different from actros 2545??
I want to request volvo VNL or mack truck mr stavros.
hooded trucks just aren't seen here in europe, as we have hgv length restrictions. (16.1m truck and trailer)
Not available in Ireland
have a nice vision
Why do you never do a Daf Review?
Hope to get one sometime
What is the difference between the 18 & 25? I’m currently driving a 2545 and this has the low floor as well, Andy
the 18 & 25 are the wheelbase the 45 is for hp
I think the 18 & 25 are the tonnage they can take... So u can see that all trucks with 20 and above are 6x2 and mostly 33 upwards are 6x4. It also depends whether it has an air suspension or a steel suspension... Let me know if you want more information on that 😊
I like this trock. But i think the iveco is a way better trock.
This actros has not come to malaysia yet there is only the old one
Thats a beauty but im not keen on the interiors at all and merc couldhave done better with the inside. Nice driving machine.
If Mercedes trucks are not the best, how is Mercedes the biggest truck builder?
What is the meaning of 1845, 2545? 45 means 450 horsepower, but the 18, 25???
Kishan Mahabier the weight in tonnes you can put on the rear axles
I would prefer the scania S580 more than the other trucks
Max speed of actros????
Do a scania t 730 bull nose
Please test hino truck
Hopefully one day
Are there any Hino trucks in Ireland?
We’ve had three actros all three of them have had new gearbox twice in one of three cases they still are not right there body is 90% plastic and doesn’t hold together well all the bolts to change the bulbs and panels etc and bad torques and are usually rusted in place and round off the gearbox is the biggest problem as well as the Adblue systems which again all of ours have had new ones and the dealer support from Orwell trucks is absolutely shocking as they never have any parts in never anything in stock not even a brake calliper!! even the previous generation actros, was changing gears faster, I don't know what is wrong with this euro 6, but seems a lot of mess
9.1mpg "that's an okay average"
And here's me laughing in North American standards that see 7-8 mpg as "good".
American's mpg and Imperial's mpg are different, right? So i think when you convert that American's 7-8 mpg you'll get around 9-10 mpg on the Imperial's unit.
that truck has the same hp as my Scania r450

It's be nice if BMW could build a truck...!!! 🤔⛟👌
Neoplan can be an Audi bus, MAN TGX is more like a Volkswagen Arteon truck because the MAN group is owned by the Volkswagen group.
@@faszikellemeszene Nowadays Neoplan depends much from MAN like using MAN engines, dashboard instrumentation etc.
Because it's owned by MAN. Audi is one of VW's luxury brands, Neoplan is MAN's luxury bus brand.
I often thought that, especially with the old F2000 roadhaus. But it has more in common with Audi being part of the VAG.
Try a volvo.
(3:50) WHAT ARE THOSE??!!
Those are shoes.
