Man, on paper this job should be relaxing and easy you know. Driving cargo from point a to point b but in reality the tremendous amount of bullshit that you have to deal with everyday is simply amazing.
You have to be born to drive because the rest of the job quite frankly sucks. Thank you for your openness about the challenges and frustration over the daily haul👏👍
I drive a 10-ton rigid. It seems the frustrations and delays we encounter are the same all over the world. My biggest frustration is delays in loading and unloading of goods. Luckily, I don't have to do it myself. When I arrive at the destination, I open the doors and relax in the cab while the client hires manual laborers to unload or load the truck. Sometimes it blazing fast, sometimes it's awfully slow. Depends on the type of goods and the client.
No amount of money does be worth the hassle of driving trucks in ireland. Watching these videos confirms it. Best thing i did getting away from driving work all together 🤙🤙
Same here, rigid work isn't as bad as I first thought either - I thought I'd hate it and be rushing to get to Class 1. Greasy side down driver, all the best
@@stichupman I'm on the other end, maximum 4 drops, all over the country, occasional nights out and longer hours. I do like the longer hours and runs mind.
@@stichupman Good money in ADR, they're crying out at always for them. Turners is a pretty big company near us they seem to always be hiring for ADR. All the best with C+E mate, I might do mine just to have it as an option. Always better in the long run
This is trucking 101. Very few things go as planned lol. This isn’t just a region or specific to a country. I drove in the USA for years and now here in Europe It’s the same bullshit. The places have gotten tighter and the roads smaller but it’s all the same. We should be paid wayyyyyyyyyyy more for how much we contribute to the economy aka essential workers
100% Agreed. Everyone else is an 'essential worker' but the ones who bring and take the goods in and out. If it weren't for the drivers all the others would be sitting on their hands
Hi Stavros. Yes the stress and messing about is every day life for us. Most people don’t realize it and most certainly couldn’t deal with it. The inefficiency of others is a huge cost to transport companies. Happy New Year from Florida 🏴🇺🇸
This is so, so, so relatable. I’ve encountered nearly all these issues after only 18 months in the industry. Infuriating. Since I got a night job making drops all in house for the one company I’m much happier and none of these problems come up anymore and no traffic to deal with :)
You need to check with local councils what there verge maintenance limit is because there is a minimum clearance from the edge or the road to the tree line for a safe place to stand incase of emergency. Ask them for a claim form and send photos i bet the pay it.
First time EVER to comment on your videos but well done Stav because only people like you and I know how much work goes into what we do. So as one RUclipsr to another I salute you 👍
Aye breaker happy new year. Unfortunately this is the way of the industry nowadays ppl that don’t know what or how to do things and experienced men who really don’t have the time tae b explaining things tae the newer blood it’s a shame really as a lot of good knowledge is to be had from the older ones.
happy new year, only in Ireland hah.all these computers and still the man on the wheel has to be dynamic .no computer can do do that. talk about being dropped in the deep end. keep them coming
You didn't seem to have a very good time with all the hassle you were getting, you haven't been putting many vlogs up lately hope everything is okay with you Great to see you vlogs again. Happy New Year buddy.
Stavros full agree with you about trees and hedgerows there should be no trees beside roadway, anyway the best of luck to you in 2022 happy new year, stay safe and safe driving 😁
It seems that the trouble in the trucking industry is similar world wide. Here, in the US, the real trouble is most drivers are paid on a per mile basis. So hold ups loading and unloading are out of the driver's pocket. Until 8 years ago we(my sons and I) still delivered animal feed. Our top driver kept track of his time and he had waited(set) at ADM (large feed producer) 800 hours in the prior 12 months. So he was wasting almost three hours a day just waiting around to load or unload. Here your limited to a 14 hour duty shift with only 11 hours driving. Then you have to have a ten hour reset of which you have to sleep eight hours will no interruptions.
Nice one Stavros. It's the worst time of the year for truck driving, dark, cold and wet along with all the usual problems, hang in there, things can only get better. Happy new year
mate i am a dutch tryck driver, one time i had to pick somting up in lisbon Portugal i went empty from the Netherland to Portugal 5 minuts from the loading adres i get a cal from my boss. customs has bared the load from bieng loaded i and my boss were not happy i drove almost a week to Portugal EMPTY and then they call us like that to Portugal is almost 5.000 km
You sum the job up very well. We as drivers just cannot just get on with our jobs, other drivers not helping us out. The amount of times I've pulled forward on a diesel pump after filling (if there's room, obviously) and got a thanks from bloke behind, yet nobody would ever do the same. More often than not, once somebody sees they'll all start doing it. Just common sense, we're all just trying to do our jobs and get on with it. Even on my last job that was hourly pay I'd go slow but not hold others up ;) You're right about addresses, cannot stand getting a wrong address and then try to phone the customer with the supplied phone number which nobody then answers..
I can relate to all the content, lack of communication, other drivers that don't care especially leaving trailers too high, destination addresses wrong, it's all typical of what you encounter, I'm 30 + yrs on the road, now doing wide and long, even worse down narrow roads
Feel you pain with getting container into docks, Grangemouth regularly has 50/60 trucks in the que which takes 4hrs just to get 1 box off and other on then still having to try deliver the new box. Living the dream lol
🤣🤣 on the driver not moving. If he’s anything like me and has had so many infringements and bollockings I’m the same I don’t move at all even if called forward. Mind you I never have a break whilst in a queue coz you never know when you have to move
As regards to breaks. You can move the truck as long as you only crawl then just put it back on break as long as it's less than 1 minute the break time wont be interrupted.
It's a legal requirement that farmers cut their hedges. Some do most dont bother their arse. As usual in Ireland no enforcement so farmers just let their hedges grow out on the road. Dam another mirror gone. Send the farmer the bill. Happy new year Stavros.
Stavos I don't drive trucks so much anymore, I have a handy number now with a canteen toilets and parking, I do miss it at times and I go to the shows, but every year we still do our CPC tests just in case, a few years ago I missed my test date and had to join with another group from a different company in a hotel, some of the students were enjoying the alco beverages, while the others could not understand the language of the cpc teacher, but we all pissed the test 100% anyway. Ps the hedge cutting is for the cyclists
When i returned with the 40' i was told to pick up a full 40' ftcontainer and head east to the Courts Wharehouse and i dropled my truck at 3:30 am the next morning
it will still show on break, but if you print a v-diagram ,that movement it's gonna be recorded so basically you did intrerupt your break...so to be honest i don't know if you educated him,but a little bit of reading will do just good on you Stavros :) good luck

My sympathies with poor and incomplete addresses and contact details like phone numbers of people that have not worked for the firm for two years. Throughout my career as a lorry driver they are a massive time waste when you are so time pressured. I used to work for a firm delivering high end furniture and the amount of big country houses set at the end of long meandering drives with paranoid rich folk with no road facing house number or name, who then refuse to answer their phones when you need help. Great video though!
Stavros I used to drive an old ERF mid lift 8 wheeler tractor truck and I started at 5 am on morning and I hauling a 20'ft container and the port officials came at 4 pm to tell me thst the 20ft container will have to be emptied as it was a suspect container so i called my dispatcher to alert him of the situation so he sent me to pick up an empty 40' near to thd port abd when
