I'm Algerian so hearing you complaining about that pothole really made me laugh, because where I live I'd be shocked to be able to drive for 500 meters without finding a big pothole, also Algeria is way bigger that Ireland and it's the biggest country in Africa yet we only have one major motor way up north, but the funniest by far is you calling those 28° days scorchers, because at summer here temperatures never drop below 40°c, so 28° is like winter.
At 6:00 where there is no right turn arrow; In Australia this is very common. We are allowed to drive into the intersection and then wait. Once you are in the intersection it doesn’t matter if the light turns red as you are already in the intersection. Sometimes this is the only way to get through a set of traffic lights, one vehicle at a time per traffic light cycle as oncoming traffic is too busy. Strange how small laws like that differ around the world.
It amazes me that some trucks have no air conditioning, I honestly thought it would be standard given that they’re being driven around all day! More videos like this please!! 👍
Haha, a couple of years ago, I was driving in the hottest summer Germany ever had, 40-42 degrees Celsius with no AC at all, it was broken. 700 km a day with only the window half open.
Air conditioning is "fitted" to all the buses I drive in London but it only seems to work on about 10% of them; same for heating in the winter! I would imagine the same is true for HGVs that are part of large fleets, where they prioritise fixing more "essential" systems. I've recorded over 40°C in the cabs before.
@5:30 In the US because we drive on the opposite side of the road we have this problem making left turns. We call it an “unprotected left” when we don’t have a dedicated turn light. What we do here is nose out in to the intersection. Here we call it “owning the intersection.” Once the light turns yellow, or sometimes red, and oncoming traffic stops then we complete our turn.
More like this please, I like seeing you doing the drops and the challenges you come across and how you deal with it. Thanks Stavros, very enjoyable video.
What a fantastic video, really takes me back to my days on the road. Doesn't look like much has changed in the job unfortunately, we have a silly set of lights here just like the ones you showed. Madness everywhere mate, looking forward to next week's already.
Good one Stavros. You showed me that no matter where you are the truck driver is a universal figure in the industrial world an deals with much of the same problems of the trade. Cheers from the united states.
Great video and interesting to see the different scenery as you pass through the various towns and villages along your route. Also I admire your temperament and laid back style. It's something many of us could learn from.
Thnx for showing us around your daily work routines Stavros👌. Your job surely is impressive. Btw, that iconic cheerrss of yours under some full moon was truly epic 😁! Cheers and see you soon bro!
Politicians and Council Engineers should be made travel in truck cabs, to see the horrendous state of our prehistoric roads. They wouldn't be long finding money then for improvements. Great video, well done you. 👍🇳🇬👏🇳🇬 Quick question where the hell do you find time to edit and post videos working those hours ?.
cool reality video, keeping busy. always assumed cork and limerick to be something bigger.. and there is no highway. I am into one of those Y-DNA paternal researches recently (I seem to have a 500 year black hole)..and see that O'Donovans box truck.. I chuckled.
Great insight to your days driving. It'd be great having your number next time I'm driving round Dublin, one wrong turn and your screwed!!😁 It was one of your videos that helped me find the fridge in the cab...I didn't want to go looking in s'one else's cab. Looking forward to the next video.
Excellent video Stavros, I think if you could do a video on how to maneuver a trailer that'd would be a great subject to show us. Love these "In the day of" style videos.
Hai, I am from India. Just today only I saw your video 1st time in youtube. I love all the truck drivers in this universe. I immediately subscribed.....
Hi Stravros, great content, But why did you swap the curtain sided trailer for the container ? When you are lifting and moving pallets locally? And also you left the yard around 6am, but you didn’t mention what time is was when you returned to wash the truck? It was dark, so I assume around 10pm? - long day I Cheers John😃
Hey Stavros, just heard that Waitrose in England is offering HGV drivers 60,000 euros per annum because of the shortage of drivers over here currently. That might encourage a few more people to take up the job despite the drawbacks!
Does any of the truckers or your client recognised you when you arrived at the pick up location ? I know I would be shock and happy to see you cause I know my load are being hauled by a professional and someone with passion!
Stavros lovin Yr videos Ireland looks such a beautiful place, I must visit one day, keep up the good work and videos, do you Irish truckers still use the cb they seem to have disappeared since my days as a trucker

You should seriously do more of these "daily life as a trucker in Ireland" type of videos. You might gain much more viewers, especially from the US.

Thanks for another good video showing your daily POV. You learn to be reasonably assertive at junctions in London, or you'd block the road forever.
I'm just sitting in my trucks waiting for my turn..
Brilliant video Stavros been waiting to see this for a long time!

When they're used to low 20s in summer you'd be surprised, same way texans close the state when it snows 2mm lol.
Thanks man for the video I was thinking if I want take the driver license for truck, but I think I’m fine with my D license the bus is better 😅
you should visit Romania. See how truckers do it with just a couple hundred miles of motorways in the entire country 😄

it's a great video, but I have a question, how you tie down that container on a flatbed. I didn't see any chains or hooks. just wondering..
