I love the update. I don't think the Android dock should have worked well on the duo. I think the phone is smoother than ever with 12 and she with you that there is no reason to complain. Kudos to MS for continuing to update and improve this device. It's very unusual for MS and shows their commitment to these devices.
How is the battery life on the duo? What sort of screen on time can you get? I'm thinking of buying one
@@johngardner869 certainly not fantastic. If you're a heavy user you'll have to top it off later in the day. Moderate use will make it through the day without a problem.
I still love using this for email and Teams at work.

Hey J, love your videos. But I've gotta tell you the 12L update has ruined my Duo 1. I updated it last week because I was preparing to go out of town. After the update the system navigation won't work right, I am limping along using a partially funcioning 3-button navigation setting. Also, my notifications only work when I check the device, this has made me real popular with my family and friends. My late responses to their texts will guarantee that I won't be getting any nice gifts this holiday season. I also can no longer span screens over both displays. I've been all over the internet and there are several other people experiencing issues too. i love my Duo, it is my daily driver. I don't know why certain people are having issues and others aren't. BTW, I totally agree with you about the camera bump on the Duo 2.
Just got the Og surface duo with the red bumper. Watched all your videos about the surface duo. Now that i have the bumper installed, I want to add a skin. All your InSite was very informative and needed. I love this device.
Great video! I am impressed of 12l update too. But have you experienced that: the playing video on RUclips app in book mode (on one screen) then flio to tent mode, the youtube app won't be staying, instead my Duo shows the another app which was on the another screen. So the video playback is cut.
Can't believe there isn't a DeX-equivalent desktop mode on Duo. What a miss.

Maybe this is specific to Android on the Surface but is there a setting I can change so that there is a press animation on an app when I tap on it? This is standard on iPhone and it also worked like this on a Huawei phone I saw in a store yesterday, but on my Surface there is no visual feedback that I tapped on an app icon.
I haven’t clicked on a video so quick. I got off my Surface Duo about two months ago because it was getting a bit unreliable. Always love your take on things, man! Great video. 👍🏼👍🏼
J! The Camera bump is not really an issue. I've had the DUO1 and now I'm using the DUO2.... And Love it more! Please test and try it. I Love your commentaries on this device! Please don't stop on the DUO!

Yeah I’ve just got done updating my OG Surface Duo, and love the fluidity and new look of the software. I use my duo purely as my business phone, and these changes were well welcomed for me.
You are so right about expectations! MSFT has been notorious for abandoning hardware in the past, but the should get due credit for sticking with the Duo and making it better. I love this device - and now it cost $300!

I don't feel that I need the dock with my original duo. You have 2 screens, you don't need a shortcut to apps.

The buttons on my Surface Slim Pen are not working. When I pair via Bluetooth I see a message saying the pen is not supported .

agreed about duo 2. that bulky camera block ruins the whole "duo"-concept - you just cannot open it on 360 degrees.
when i broke my first duo (it was without a bumper, and i dropped it on a hard floor), i bought a new duo - not duo 2. and if i break my second one - i'm gonna buy duo again (not saying it's much cheaper now).
I don't know that I'd say it really did all that much for the device other than change the design of it. I wouldn't necessarily say it's a bad update, but they didn't really do much to change the experience with it.

I did not receive update yet. (AT&T). But I am sure I will like it. Like you said , I am happy with it now. And I am getting my moneys worth considering I paid full price. Let’s keep it real. 😂

I lost my Surface Duo 2 being an alcoholic in Las Vegas so I'm really sad right now... I'm probably going to get the Surface Duo 1 in a week or two since Best Buy doesn't even have any Surface Duo 2 in stock for me to use my insurance 😞😞😞

I don't think the dock is needed on a device like this. It's a dual screen device.

The notification update is terrible
I had the Samsung Galaxy Z fold 2 for 18 months and I literally hated it when it was closed and hated it when it was opened and didn't appreciate a folding phone until I got the surface Duo one and oh my God that is one of the most enjoyable experiences of my life and I used it a billion times more in the month that I've had that phone versus the 18 months of the folding Samsung phone you either get it or you don't
For the price that it is at 3:20 and on top of that I have the folding phone from Samsung 10 it sucked this phone literally gets my voice to text perfect 99.99% of the time which I can say without a hesitation with Samsung Ultra s22 that I have does not do that they always puts double words in as weird shit that I did not say or have the surface Duo it's perfect when it comes to that and to me that is the most important thing you want to save me a lot of time I think it's awesome and I have to do well more I didn't want the second one because I don't care about the stupid camera
I was totally blown away at how bad Samsung's voice notation is. You can install Google's voice input manually and set it to default, but it's insane how we have to take the extra time to do that. I have no clue why Samsung's proprietary voice notation is so utterly garbage. Just like you said, it gets words wrong constantly, where as Google's is absolutely perfect.
