    Great video. The Duo 2 is certainly a unique device and takes some getting use to. While the convenience of having an outer screen or candy bar style phone can take some getting use to and you're correct, it can be a bit cumbersome, when taking pictures.
    I have my camera app set up to span across both screens. You could use landscape position to look less awkward in public, but the reality is, it's the trade-off for a device like this. I find the picture quality more than capable for my needs and they look pretty good.
    I picked up this device the month it came out, because I needed a new phone anyway. I could have stuck with Samsung, but I knew I wanted this device, so paid the $1,500.
    The Android 12L update has made using the Duo 2 a joy. I don't regret paying the original price, because despite the issues, I still enjoyed using it and the regular updates helped improve and fix many of the issues.
    I am curious to see what a SD 3 will bring. If it is a single folding screen, I still expect it to behave just like a dual screen, when multi-tasking. I also expect them to bring additional spec features such as, wireless charging, 120hrtz refresh rate better cameras, with improved photo editing and camera software that will be compatible to current devices during the time of release.

    Just came across your channel and i am digging the videos about the Duo 2; I had the Duo 2 last year for about 4-5 months (when my left screen stopped registering touches on part of the screen). It was still under warranty but Microsoft didn't have any in inventory, so I was given a money refund. I would say, I loved the form factor and being able to have RUclips on one side and Line, Whatsapp, or the internet browser on the other side was FANTASTIC & brought a smile to my face. Right now I am rocking an OPPO Find N2 and a Google Pixel 6 Pro but I have been thinking about/missing the Duo 2. It is an absolute tragedy that Microsoft has abandoned it as I was really looking forward to a Duo 3 with smaller bezels, wireless charging, and other improvements. Just wondering if you are still using this as your primary device???

    • @AndroidDigest
      @AndroidDigest  Год назад +1

      Actually no. To be completely frank with you, I tend to get bored of devices after a few months but I also have to switch devices quite often to review. And because I'm not a bigger RUclipsr I can't afford to have three or four devices laying around anyway. I did have a little bit of a mark underneath my screen, it looked like adhesive on two different screens. I heard about them doing refunds so I sent it in for the screen issue and they offered a refund if I had a receipt. I didn't because I bought it second hand, but after about a month of back and forth they finally agreed to give me a full refund and they actually gave me more money than I paid for it. All I wanted was another Duo 2 or store credit. But they ended up giving me that refund instead. So I pocketed the extra money

      @@AndroidDigest I have to co-sign the STRUGGLE/how ANNOYING it was to get the refund back from Microsoft. It also took me about the same time to get the refund, after calling/emailing everyday & talking to different agents etc 😵😵

    I've had the duo 2 since the day it released in the uk it's been my daily driver since I got it in my hands and it's been a joy to use and now whenever I hold a friends single screen slab phone it just doesn't feel right to me don't think I could ever go back to a slab phone I tried z fold 3 before I got my hands on duo 2 but for me the form factor of duo 2 is so much better and like you stated in your thumbnail it's defiantly so under rated

    • @AndroidDigest
      @AndroidDigest  Год назад

      Thanks for the comment and I agree 100%. Sadly I don't think they will make a Duo 3 with two screens. It will probably be similar to the z-fold lineup. But it should still keep the same aspect ratio. We also have the Google pixel fold which will be a smaller foldable but a little bit wider. So even though we are getting away from the two screen thing at least there are some promising foldables that will at least have a similar form factor

    Yup, it is my favorite phone to use. It's what got me to switch to Android. I rock it and an S22 Ultra, which is what I use for my mobile photography needs.
    As far as stock goes, I was told by a Microsoft rep that it will be at the end of January 2023 before they have any in stock again. I had to send mine back to Microsoft for a warranty replacement recently due to some discoloration that appeared on my right display. They first informed me they were out of the black ones and would send me a white one if I would prefer that instead, only to tell me later that they're out of stock of the white ones too. They could either refund me or I could wait until the end of January 2023.

    • @AndroidDigest
      @AndroidDigest  Год назад

      Were they offering to refund you $1,500? Did they require a receipt? I am about to send my Duo 2 to them for discoloration as well. It's got a few white dots under the screen. Curious on how they would handle it.. I'm still under warranty

    • @WaffleusRex
      @WaffleusRex Год назад

      @@AndroidDigest Yes, a full refund. They required a receipt. They will give you a link for that. They were pretty good about the warranty process. There were some minor cosmetic scuffs on the hinge that they didn't hold against me. It did take a while for them to offer the refund but that may be because I started the process online.

    Lg v60 , has all that and when put with the dual screen, is a power house and you can have it all for 400 or less , and smart pen support, better cameras and speakers and good size, and the option to have dual display or just rock it as a stand alone phone 😎

  • @michaelcorcoran8768
    @michaelcorcoran8768 Год назад

    I like the duo phones but I still think the LG dual-screen solution is better. The LG V60, for instance gives you all the same advantages for multitasking, tent mode, and stylus support (Wacom 2nd gen) .... but it also lets you treat each screen individually so you can do split screen on one, and have 3 apps total or 4 with pip. Much bigger battery, wireless charging, and better camera, proper support for third-party launchers (enabling all the customizations you can't really do on the duo - - customizable gestures, icon packs, much more control over your home screen). Probably the best audio phone ever made in terms of Dac and headphone jack, SD card support, much better thermals....
    And of course if you were in the mood to just have a proper single-screen experience you can actually remove the case. If you drop it, the external screen is more likely to break than the entire phone, and you can replace the dual screen accessory for the fraction of the cost. Gets more timely updates as well. A12 was on it way earlier. A13 probably in Q2 2023
    It's definitely not the marvel of engineering or the crazy thin form factor. Microsoft obviously has better integration with Microsoft Office devices, and the Kindle app. It's better in wide mode or with spaning. duo is a much more unique device in that sense. But as a utilitarian device, I think the LG V60 is the dual screen king. Duo is the better eReader though.
    You can find the V60 for under $200 pretty easily these days, the dual-screen case can range anywhere from $80 - 150.

    • @AndroidDigest
      @AndroidDigest  Год назад +1

      I completely agree with you actually. I do like that solution a little better. But the only issue is LG of course is out of business for smartphone and I don't see another replacement phone coming anytime soon
