    Hi Shane. Congratulations and thank you! Just what I needed. I stored my Surface Duo a couple of months ago as it is huge as a daily driver, and I bought an iPhone mini. Now I didn’t know whether trading the Surface Duo for an iPad mini but with your conclusions I’ll stick to the SD1 as my secondary driver. Peace out!✌️

      I'm on the exact same boat! I got the OG duo and the camera is admittedly pretty awful (laggy and struggles to even scan QR codes) and Pixel phone cameras never disappoint.

      I am on the verge of doing the same🎉 route but an upgraded version Pixel phone (7 pro/7a/8 pro) with the surface duo 2. I travel a good bit and being less noticeable comes in handy.
      As opposed to me taking our my surface pro or buying the S8+ which I was considering until today.
      As I sit here writing and going down the youtube rabbit whole on my Pixel 3aXl as opposed to my tablet that is next to me I'm realizing the screen size for media consumption is not a strong as a factor as I thought it would be. 🤔

    I have a surface duo and now a surface duo 2. Both used as a secondary devices. No sim installed, just used around the house as an ultimate multi-tasking tablet.

    My biggest gripe for the hardware part of duo 2 could be screen size. For media consumption I always take out the fold instead of Duo because it's just too small. If the bezel is smaller and screen bigger this would be awesome!

    I have an iPhone 12 mini and a duo. The duo just can't be a primary for me. What kills me about the duo is something that not a lot of people mention and that is the single speaker. Kills me. Great for everything else.

    Duo v new iPad mini. Yes! can't compare... They fill very different 'niches' really... I have had the ipad mini for almost 2 weeks now and it's the cutest thing ever... Beside, the not so noticeable jelly-scroll it delivers what it is supposed to do. I can use Procreate again as its only on iOS/iPadOS. Practically speaking however, I have only used it 2-3 times in 2 weeks because it doesn't do what I am used to with duo now e. g. My weekly grocery shop is from 2 apps, Duo is perfect to compare and choose without duplication because I see it side by side... These apps don't support multitasking window on ipad mini (which I was really hoping)... 9/10 times I am using 2 apps at a time so I guess duo is made for people with my use case. In fact, I have been convincing myself that mini is good as a secondary device for me, but rationally speaking I should rather use that money towards duo 2 because I know I would be using it more. Still, got 2 weeks to return the mini and hoping that Microsoft' would offer trade up for it in UK as in US.

      I have the same use case. During the week my Samsung S10 is turned off (private calls a forwarded to my work phone, the Duo). I use it mainly for work but also privately during the week. But in the weekend I turn it off and I switch to my S10. Easier to use when on the go and overall better to use when being active. Not to mention the much better camera.

    I don't remember which model it is, maybe a Galaxy Tab, but there is a small Android tablet in which you can insert a SIM card not only for 5G, but for making calls. I think it is better to hesitate between this tablet and an iPad Mini than to hesitate between iPad Mini and the Surface Duo 2 because in use the experience will be a little more similar. No? BTW I love your videos.

    Ipad pro 11
    So many surface studio 's pc
    Also a galaxy fold ! (I gave it to my wife...)
    And a buggy surface duo with a pen.
    Why I' m using surface duo every Day ?
    Why I like it so much than all my computers ?
    I don't know ?
    Just like it that s all..
    Maybe because multitasting with pen is so much better than galaxy fold..

  • @AdmiralBison
    @AdmiralBison 2 года назад +1

    Why not have foldable screens and have seperate screens virtual?
    You can make all the borders and hinges as large as your heart desires to give that feeling of two "physical" separate monitors.
    I still recon foldables screens are the future, they're "flexible" in making all kinds of split screen layouts and the technology is advancing.
    only two reasons I chose Z Fold 3 over Surface Duo is Duo has a hinge right in middle and is not running Win 11 to seperate itself from the Android pack.

    • @scaryifliteral
      @scaryifliteral  2 года назад

      To me, this is like saying "why not have one ultrawide instead of two monitors?" Sure, you can do split windows on an ultrawide, but I truly believe there is something different about having two distinct and partitioned spaces that has never been properly simulated. I talked about this a lot here - ruclips.net/video/C3WH1Ga6_aI/видео.html

    • @coxxycabee
      @coxxycabee 2 года назад

      I have a LG V60 dual screen. I also have a Galaxy tab s7 which I've used split screens. Shane is right. Two screens work better than split screen. Split screen does work but some apps do become buggy in that mode. If you extensivly use multiple apps at once then two screen is the way to go, but if it's something that you only do occasionally, you can probably get away with using split screen.

    $1500 vs $499 no thianks MS

    • @scaryifliteral
      @scaryifliteral  2 года назад

      Price is far from the only factor. I paid retail for my original Duo and pulled my sim out 6 months ago because the bugs were just too much to handle. So far, Duo 2 is miles ahead of that and I honestly enjoy using it more than I did the OG, before MS's "updates" introduced too many bugs to handle.

    • @EROSNERdesign

      @@scaryifliteral sure but my point is that for $1500 you shouldnt have ANY issues especially for a 2 gen product. The Samsung flip is $999 and is an utra extreme product with no issues I have seen... iOS is too limited and restrictive for me, and though I was never a fan of Android I found that it at least gave me more control and utility power than iOS ever could...which is why I believe Microsoft missed out on a great opportunity to make the Duo 2 fold out into a 9' and run Windows 11.
    The market needs more options out there than just iOS and Android devices. Windows 11 and Linux phablets/foldable "not a phone" would open things up.
