    Hey, Sawed Off. You make some entertaining videos and you have a lot of good ideas that I can't wait to see you build. Please make more videos more often.
    PS. Love that Mustang let me know if you want to sell it.

    Aparently there is guys that put the b234 volvo head onto the 2.3 fords. Your drain back should be straight and at least a -10. Drill a bigger hole in the valve covers x2 + catch can.

      You can run the b230 8v head too it just doesn’t flow as well as the b234 16v Dohc heads

    On the four banger the cylinder walls are shiny as hell that's where you're losing your compression

    Factory idi turbo have the same compression ration as n/a but have stronger rods and wrist pins. I ran one at 18-19psi for years. Most say 13psi Is 100% safe. 8psi on a 6.9idi due to small head bolts. I have ran a few and the one I built made real good power. Hit me up if you have questions or just want to bullshit.

    Cool seeing you wearing your Dunlops at 11:58. They're awesome boots for sure. Do you ever wear your pants over top of the boots though? I think they're better like that. Would be good to see you trying them like that in your next video.

    Certainly wouldn't be financially worthwhile but the pinto 2.3 was widely used in the UK. Never in stock 2.3L form. Also the cosworth dohc uses the same block and they've pulled mega hp

    Overboosting is an issue with small turbos, lag is an issue on too big of turbos as the engine is barely putting enough exhaust out to spool er up, on an undersized turbo you're putting 7.3 litres of exhaust through a turbo designed for 5.9

    • @diesel7903
      @diesel7903 6 месяцев назад

      A lot of people put those turbos on 7.3s

  • @1997cr80r
    @1997cr80r 6 месяцев назад

    You maybe made 8-10psi tops with no load of boost. You didn't blow the head gaskets you'd have exhaust coming out the water jacket. That blow by is normal on a old idi. Also your turbo oiling out the exhaust is probably from all the crankcase pressure you need atleast a 1 inch breather on the engine either drill your valve cover hole to 1 inch or better yet pull it from the little cover on the injection pump gear housing. Sounds good though

    👍👍may perhaps need a bigger turbine housing and/ or turbine wheel...as someone mentioned,trying to shove 444 cubes through one that's meant for 359... maybe would lower drive pressure..
    High drive can be hard on things.HX40 maybe better suited for it..Idk,just a thought ..👍👊

    That turbo looks like it’s tipped back , I was told to always tip your turbo slightly forward so the cold side is down hill . Stops oil pooling on the exhaust sides seal .might be your oiling issue

    I just got a turbo 7.3 idi to swap into my sadly blown up na 7.3 powered crew cab 90’s dually. I traded a car I got as payment for fixing a vehicle for a Friend. Basically I traded a 500 dollar car for a turbo 7.3. Just got to pull it out of the truck I didn’t want that they delivered. Once I got what I need they will come back with the trailer and haul it away.

    That single hx35 with a 12 or 14 cm turbine, is too small for that engine as a single turbo. It will give all its got low in the rpm range, and will choke the engine with high back pressure high in the rpm. A single with a 18 cm turbine or twin with 10 cm turbine, would be a better choice. I have twin with the 10 cm turbine on mine, and will see how it runs here soon. 3678923 is a part number of plugs you can get to delete the glow plugs and drop compression some, to give the head gasket a shot at life.
