The mother who tried to help him get away with it and his dad who won't pay the civil suit to the victim is why this kid is the way he is.
This 🙌🏻
Sick parents!
These people are the epitome of what’s wrong with humanity.
Plus, their young teenage sons threaten each other with knives! What’s wrong with the parents? Kids probably never heard the word NO. Just my opinion.
My oldest son who is almost 40 now, he has had mental health issues since he was a teenager. My ex-husband encouraged the abusive behavior toward me and his siblings. I was the one who called the police several times. The police officers were like the father that he should have had for discipline. They were always on my side. My ex husband had a horrible reputation. My son did great for a long time. Then unfortunately, he got involved with a couple of criminal women. It is not ending well. I went to the police about some of the things they were involved in. He is not permitted back in my home or around us. My ex-husband think that's just wonderful. It's very sickening!
Thank you SO MUCH to the cousin who had the morals to call in the tip against their relative.
EXACTLY
They would’ve caught him anyway. They had his dna everywhere
not necessarily not if they didn’t have his DNA already in the system
More than the parents or himself. He just sees it as a mistake of which he is innocent because the drugs made him do it.
Yes, may God bless her for doing the right thing..
I applaud the cousin that called authorities, and the surgeons that saved that woman's life.
So they were able to afford the $700,000+ bail but not a single payment to her!? Fugoff!
Probably only paid 70k since you usually only have to post 10% if you go through a bail bondsman.
@@dancollins8296regardless, still should have paid Donna.
@@dancollins8296 He didn't "pay", it's just a security. It cost him nothing.
that's sick, can't stand parents that bail out kids and don't teach accountabiity
@@RichardWagner-hi4znwhat do you mean ‘security’? What’s a security?
That boy is a danger to society. He stabbed someone so many times at random and felt nothing about it. His parents are failures for raising him and also trying to hide him after knowing what he did. His cousin was the good Samaritan here.
No : monster🐊.
His parents most likely posted the $760,000 bail.
Yes,the cousin is a saint
There's an old Spanish saying: "Cria cuervos y te arrancarán los ojos". Raise crows and they will pulled your eyes out. In other words you can raise a child and you can surely be surprised of what they are capable of doing. Unfortunately, parents are not raising children with a structure and base. Religion and faith plays an important part in child's life. With all respect, even though many don't believe in it. As long as you don't go to the extremes. Faith can help immensely. The world, community and society has gotten horrible.
@@evarodriguezalequin5705 Agree 100%!
15 years is not enough. He changed her life and her daughter's life forever!
He should at least got 30 or 40 years for what he did. He basically got a slap on the wrist for what he did and he won't even do the whole 15 years 85% of it.😡
@@chrissz1762 right!! Then he says he was under the influence of shrooms. If that's so how did he THEN know to change his appearance and go out if town with his family??!

How DARE that woman say its a balancing act to make his sentence because he "had no priors"... he's 16, he hasn't had time to get caught & his crime was MONSTROUS
Good point!
I agree. There was an incident with a nife and his brother. So there has been something prior.
There is something seriously wrong with that teenager.
@@LH-gc2siTHIS! there is prior history it was happening in his own home
His parents totally knew and tried to help cover it up. They should be charged as well. My entire life growing up my parents always told me "We will fight to the death for you if you're in the right. But if you're in the wrong, you're going to face your consequences." In turn, I taught my daughter the same exact thing. I was never one of those kids that were taught growing up that they can do NO wrong and the parents will always bail them out. I knew if I ever got arrested for something that I did and was in the wrong, not to even bother calling my parents. They for sure would have left my sorry behind sitting in the jail cell all night.
Good point. Parents of minors should take part of the consequences of what they've wreaked on society too!
It's a failure of love: love for your errant son dictates that you NOT enable the son's escape from the consequences of his criminal, even callous, actions. Could it be that parents enabling naughty children bear much of the responsibility for making of their children little/big monsters? Coddling bad boys and bad girls is like adding fuel to a fire.
She survived!! Thankfully a story where a victim makes it. Glad you're still with us Donna!! 🙏
Thank you, my heart sank when she did not respond to the 911 operator.

My shock when they showed Donna alive!! Amazing! One of the highlights of my day 🤗
Agree!!!
He should be in jail for life. No possibility of parole. 😠
Failed system….should be 30+ years minimum.
Take him to the gallows
Agree! Wtf is 15 years!
I would have gave him the death penalty. She suffered so much and she would have died if she wasn’t so healthy and strong.
Murderers rarely receive life.
These teenagers that commit these heinous crimes should never be released. I knew it was wrong to hurt someone at the age of six. These teens know what they are doing. They do not deserve to “ever” live among us. It’s infuriating that he will be released at some point!!
Exactly!
The unfortunate truth is that most people like him exhibit warning signs extremely early into their childhood development. The wilfully delusional parents who ignore these red flags should be held accountable too once their kid inevitably harms or kills somebody.
Yep. That murderous rage is still in him & prison will probably grow it. He's a clear and present danger to the community. 30yrs minimum.
Rich people have a different justice system than the rest of us.
Why did you put ever in quotation?
What a brave strong woman . Calling 911 while under severe trauma , losing consciousness while on the phone. Breaks your heart at the same time you admire her presence of mind , her courage .
Well what else was she going to do, give up and lay there and die? Anyone who is still able to physically move after an attack like that is going to to do everything they can possibly do to survive. It’s instinctual, nothing to do with bravery nor courage. You guys are so hyperbolic all the time in these comment sections for no reason.
This is what happens when terrible parents don’t control their spoiled kids. The fact that they hid him is very telling!
Yes these parents need to see the scars their son did and try to hide it and so he never has to pay for what he did. It's beyond disgusting what the parents did. Wouldn't it be ironic if he kills his parents when he gets out of prison. The parents should go to jail with him if they care more about this killer getting away with what horror he committed
He’s not spoiled he’s a psychopath
Why and how does a kid take on such an absurd level of criminality? Murderous behavior was so far from my 16yo thoughts it didn't even exist in another universe. This is completely nuts in context of being raised in relatively privileged home and societal environments.
I agree and they should have been prosecuted
@@monicadonnelly4991 Or a combination of both
The fact that the cousin called and turned him in is very telling. Him and his parents have likely been a plague on their family for a long time. I bet they all knew something like this was bound to happen. Im just glad she had the integrity to do the right thing.
They sound like entitled Karens.. I have family members like that, I wouldn't mind giving them up to the cops, if I knew they did something criminal..
Great insight
& perfectly stated!
🙂💖🏆💎🎯
I agree. I don't what levels the extended family members were aware of as far as his behavior goes, but they had the integrity to call when they thought it was him.
There's a very good chance that if the son wasn't caught, he might have murdered his parents and brother.
Yup and esp because they ran from home to the holiday house suddenly and with cut hair, also major giveaway
Donna has HUGE balls of steel. What a woman. Uncredible, absolutely mindblowing. So glad she survived and is doing okay for the most part, hopefully she overcomes PTSD and lives a happy further life!
It has nothing to do with balls though.
What a miracle that she survived. And how much alike she and her daughter are. Amazing women.
Unbelievable how mommy was covering for him. His parents should be held accountable as well 😑 I applaud Donna strength and humanity, including her recognition to the surgeon and going to talk to inmates 💖
Parents. They don't deserve that title. Evil and should be made to pay
I get that the parents were protecting their kid but damn!! If my kid would have ever done that I would have turned him in but I would support him no matter what
Well said Elizabeth.

In 1978, I had a hemorrhage. Only 17, years old. I had, had a period for a month. Finally, after passing out at home. My brother rushed me, to the ER. Where a nurse, came out to get a patient, saw me ready to expire. And wheeled me in right away. Immediately, they started, a blood transfusion. Thank you, for whoever donated. I appreciate it.❤
The kid deserved much more time. It is a shame that someone is allowed to do that kind of damage to someone and only get that small amount of time in prison. He definitely should have at least gotten the full 30 years.
What a remarkable, strong woman. I suffer daily from severe ptsd and I tell you, it’s a life sentence. The fact that he’ll get out one day is blood boiling. Us victims have to live with this for ever, they should rot in prison.

I love how Donna called her scars "beautiful artwork" in recognition of the surgeons who saved her life. It's a moving tribute to the doctors, and a positive way to view her scars.
This woman is so, SO strong 😭
@@user-dw4cs4xv8ybut she doesn’t need to look at a scar for that. the fact that she’s alive and has ptsd are reminders of the attack.
And she's still attractive, despite the scars.
Our daughter has a long scar on her chest from open heart surgery when she was 16 months and a scar down her entire back from scoliosis surgery. We have always made sure to tell her how special she is and that her scars tell a story that other kids don’t have. She’s 20 now and has embraced her scars. It’s obviously not the same as being attacked but it is the same in how you look at adversity. Donna is fierce and I like to think our daughter is too!
Physical beauty is only skin deep and you can't buy love, buy you can rent it for a long time.
The mother should be arrested too. Shameful horrible parent and child. Disgusting.
Obstruction of justice exists for this reason. Why she wasn't charged too I'll never know.
Why
There is no proof that she knew he did it.
It would be tricky to find the evidence to convict her.
I feel like no matter how good you raise your kids, they gonna do what they wanna do anyways. I've seen some people have the most wonderful parents and they were still doing illegal and dumb things. There's peer pressure all types of stuff that make people do what they do so you can't always blame the parents
I love how she was so calm when she called 911. I mean, most people would be losing their mind with torrent of blood is leaking out of them. She was calm, she said what she needs to say and that saved her life.
She is a role model on how to face bad things differently! My full respect to Donna!
Those surgeons who saved Donna are skilled heroes. Donna is an incredibly inspirational Woman.❤

Parents should be held accountable too when the offenders are under 18. This teen madness has got to stop.
Yup! The cousin had more integrity than the whole family put together!
Wow! She's the poster child for courage. The fact that she took something was meant to end her life and turn it into something that gives life by creating the support group speaks volumes about her character. She even speaks to prisoners and the police alike using her life to teach and enlighten. Hats off this incredible woman. I'm so inspired by her and will never forget her story.
15 years is NOT ENOUGH. HE DESERVES 30 years!

I am sick of the excuse drugs made me do it. So what?? You chose to take the drugs so either way you will pay for what you have done. Our justice system is against the victims and favors the guilty.
Drugs can alter brain chemistry and behaviours for the worse, there no denying that. Although it's still no excuse. He still chose to take them, so he deserves full responsibility for it. He should be locked up much longer.
@@skycloud4802Drugs really do change how somebody thinks, again, as stated above, he still did it and should be in prison for it, but the effect on somebody's thoughts is profound.
I've done a bit of drugs, including meth twice and it changed my way of thinking for like 2 or 3 weeks after the fact. When he said going to prison was the hardest thing he'd go through in his life ? Wasn't it knowing that he nearly killed someone and what he'd put her through?!! It made me have zero sympathy for him

The mother and daughter look so much like twins. I thought they were the same person when I just started watching it. OH, WOW! I am glad that she survived.
Something that came to mind when they mentioned that he played hockey and other contact sports is potential personality changes from sports induced head trauma. Repeated head trauma can turn a normal kid into a psychopath. It’s totally possible.
Good point, and over time that can happen. I'm not a neurosurgeon, but even pro hockey players that have had CTE had to have played many years and suffered lots of concussions before they showed those kinds of behavioural changes. I don't think it's a coincidence that most NHLers who died prematurely and had serious brain injuries were also the guys who tended to fight a lot. This kid was only 16, doubtful concussions or anything else had an impact on him, although I'd rely on an expert for an opinion, and that's not me.
As young as he was...no...bunch of hockey puck. He's personality disordered from being a little Lord Fauntleroy...period.
@@JJJJ-gl2uf But there are also many serious falls and knocks to the head that kids can and do sustain during hiking and playing throughout childhood, even when they are much younger. It adds up. And if behavior issues that ensue are not treated early, there can be serious issues.

There is NO LOVE like a mother's love for her child.

*Edited to change "God" to the universe because it's clearly a trigger for a lot of people. Go debate somewhere else. This isn't about what you believe, it's about her.
That hit home for me. Because I, too have scars from when surgeons saved my life with 3 emergency surgeries ans I've felt so self conscious about them and like I'm disfigured as a result. Mayne some day I, too can see mine as art like she does. Hit me right in the feels when she said that and kinda stunned me in a good way.

@@user-dw4cs4xv8y Then that's your choice and your loss. I just saw a story on an 8 yr. old girl that has a degenerative eye disease, and she just became blind as an 8th grader. They showed the love and compassion her fellow classmates had for her, and you know what that girl said? " I thank God He gave me sight to see the world and my family for a time." I hope you change your mind.
@@user-ex1is2td2b She will be in heaven and you won't. I'm afraid you're the one that's blind.
@@user-ex1is2td2b You sad you were once a believer in God, so you should be able to answer all those questions yourself. You're the one claiming moral superiority over God by judging Him as evil, and proclaiming yourself as good. I don't care if you mock me or whatever you say, we all have an appointed day, and we just don't stay in the ground.
This has to be one of the strongest and amazing woman I have ever heard about. God Bless her and her daughter for doing what they have done after and for the strength during all of it.
Donna is a beautiful person inside and out. She’s strong, intelligent, caring and a true warrior!
I can't believe how calm the victim, Donna, was during this whole thing. I am proud of her, glad she's alive. Thank God she has her daughter to support her. As for the stabber, he should have gotten way more time that's a joke.
That was my first thought. I went through a near death scenario myself with a messed up surgery that should have been low to no risk. Tldr. I spent 14 days in the hospital many of those in the icu and also have ptsd. It was 3 years ago and I still can't look at or talk about the place that it happened at without a severe breakdown. How she was so strong to not break is beyond me.
She probably went through therapy and he was only 16 and took a plea deal so they really wouldn't give him more time because it would deter future perpetrators from taking guilty plea.
Donna,
her daughter,
the detective,
her friends,
family,
& the cousin
who reported the perpetrator-
all beautiful women,
inside & out,
who bravely
continue to
make a difference
in this world.

Yes!! I was so impresses with all of these gorgeous, caring folks. Makes you believe in the good in people again ❤️
Donna you are a true inspiration. God bless you!
Donnas friend is absolutely amazing! I hope she can live many years and have this trauma behind her.
That cousin was upset that they crashed her honeymoon. Glad she contacted the police. Also, glad Donna survived.
I think we know why the younger brother had the knife. It was to protect him from his older brother who had likely been tormenting him his entire life, with parents who did nothing to protect him. Glad he’s safe now, as is Donna, and the community.
I’m sure you’re right about that. The older kid is a psychopath.
So very proud of the mother. She is an inspiration for others. Prayers she becomes stronger and stronger.
Brennan has been acting up for his whole life…and his MOMMY AND DADDY knows it
This entire community is a perfect example of how to keep each other safe. If you see something off, call the police. If your gut tells you something is off, call the police. I'm so tired of seeing videos where a person saw or heard something vital and doesn't come forward for days/months/years.
Or if she had a husband to protect her in their home instead of being a single mom.
Donna is a strong woman, with a spirit like gold. She is truly amazing. I wish her a good long life in the absence of grief and a hardship.
Donna you are amazing. Your strength is remarkable and not only did you help yourself but now also others.
And thanks to the cousin for speaking up.
HOLD THE PARENTS ACCOUNTABLE. PERIOD. These kids had zero discipline and clearly learned tgat they had no consequences to their violent behaviors. The fact that the police had been to the house for disputes amongst the brothers speaks volumes.
Agree
Yes! We need to start demanding that parents of minors be held accountable too!!!
What an inspiration Donna is! It is incredible that she survived, and with her strength, is now helping other survivors. Thank you so much, Donna, for all you do 😊.
God Bless Donna and her Family!🤍💙💚💝
Donna's story , is a story of strength, preserverance . So impressed at her will to live and the fact she's focusing her energy on helping others who have the physical and emotional scars of a violent attack.
The strength of this mother and daughter is incredibly inspiring! Wonderful story telling.
So much respect for this incredibly strong woman.
Wow!! I’m speechless @ your strength in all aspects of this horror you endured!! I am so so sorry you had to go through any of this… but I applaud & admire your strength in not only being a survivor.. but now being an inspiration for others!! You are amazing!! Thank u for being so strong in sharing your story!!
Nothing worse than a parent never holding their child accountable for anything especially if in the wrong
WOW the so called "kid" who stabbed Donna should have been in jail for minimum 20 years! He knew stabbing someone's deadly! The fact he just came into her home and casually attacked her, Imagine if he got into someones car they would be stabbed too. His parents are pathetic as well- trying to hide his crime... SHAMEFUL FAMILY...
I loved the ending where she says, "this is artwork".. gave me goosebumps for all her strength and doesn't let the scars hide and shamed.. you are an inspiration to all!!
Omg. 😢 Bless her. 🙏🏾 I'm glad to see that she was strong enough to hold on. When we see young people, you don't immediately think that they will do something like this. But now here in 2023 I'm no longer surprised. Thank god for her family that kept her mind positive and also washed her hair. I have tears in my eyes as i type this because i couldn't imagine keeping my sanity going through something like that. 🌹
I love the way Donna sees her physical scars as artwork! They truly are beautiful - not only because they remind us of the skill and dedication of the doctors who saved her life, but they also remind us of the miracle that Donna worked herself. Just the fact that she managed (no doubt with divine help) to get herself upstairs and to get through that 911 call. Donna is an inspiration to us all. Bless her!❤👍👍ps: I'm glad she won the judgement for $5 mil in the civil suit, but sorry to hear she has not received payment. The VERY LEASE Doyle's father could do considering everything is to pay her that amount. I gather they can afford it!
Mom and brother need to go to jail also. They knew what he did and actively tried to cover it up.
They all should have been charged with aiding and abetting. I don’t believe they were trying to protect their child. Any caring person would check their kid into a psychiatric hospital if this was the first time he was ever violent and something snapped. They defaulted to COVER UP because they have covered for him in the past. This is why he doesn’t have a criminal record; it’s not the first time he’s been violent, it’s the first time his parents couldn’t get him COMPLETELY off the hook. Then they refuse to pay damages to this woman who has suffered so much because of their son. That’s because they weren’t just trying to protect the kid, they were trying to protect their OWN reputations and wealth. That poisonous apple didn’t fall far from that rotten family tree. It good that that woman had the sense to call the police about “the rumor going around within the family” there is at least one person with some decency, but I’m sure she was concerned for her own safety; as well she should have been, but whatever her motives I’m glad she did. I think the police would have figured it out, there were plenty of witnesses, but he probably would have been in a country without an extradition treaty with the US by then.
@@Aspasia2929 AMEN!!!
The mom did go to jail (unsure about the brother). All I know is that Brennans brother still lives in Colts Neck to this day
the parents clearly covered for him. What is their charge?
There isn't any actual evidence that the parents covered for him.
@@Naturefan354 Pullease! You must be a friend of the family or a family member. I've seen this comment from you multiple times. They clearly were covering up for him.
@@zxy78267 Why do you feel you can accuse? Unlike you, just because someone speaks up against your virtue signaling behind your little glass screen doesn't mean they have an agenda. The actual criminal has been brought to his justice so you can put the torches and pitchforks away.
@@TheMomseloc I think it's odd that this one person has made the same comment multiple times in response to people pointing out that he's guilty, which seems odd to me.
As for evidence the mother is trying to avoid her son being identified as the perpetrator, the mom takes him to the home where her niece is (or was) enjoying her honeymoon for starters. Either she has no boundaries or respect for others, or she's desperate to avoid the police, knowing that the drawing and description could identify her son, as could the camera footage. She gets her son's hair cut very short. This indicates that she is leaving the area to keep him from being questioned or arrested for the crime.
@@zxy78267 It's not odd for people to copy and paste the same reply to similar comments. I see it all the time.
For all the armchair DAs here. The problem with charging parents is that it is a very slippery slope for all parents and very hard to prove, especially in this case.
Yeah well, I remember taking shrooms at that age and it was all lights and laughter. That kid was lacking parental control and consequences for his actions obviously.
What an amazing woman! May God grant her total healing and peace.
The parents totally knew. That’s why he got a hair cut and why they showed up at their cabin when they knew their niece was there for her honeymoon. Also mushrooms don’t make you act like that, he’s clearly lying.
Have you ever tried mushrooms...they've been known to give people bad trips
@@mickeybell8933 I've known people who took them quite a bit, and even though they described a couple of bad trips, they never didn't know what they were doing. Personally, I wouldn't touch anything like that, but some people like them. There just isn't any evidence that they cause people to become violent.
He got in a fight with his dad and took his anger out on her.
@@mickeybell8933 I've never heard of bad trips making someone homicidal.
Exactly they should’ve been charged as well
God bless Donna, her precious daughter and her wonderful friend ( that would shake the car keys). I am so very grateful Donna is a survivor & is helping others, who also survived violent crimes. Thank you, 48hrs!
All those scars make her beautiful! Shows how strong and resilient of a woman she is! Hearing her story brought me to tears
Wow. Just amazing. Bless her. I can't believe I never heard of this before being I grew up right near there. So happy she survived.
