Agreed 100%. That poor woman was targeted for absolutely no reason. She has kids to take care of and he took her livelihood
48 hours NEVER mentioned anything about race despite the fact that they were all African American. I'm wondering why? 🤔
@@Ze_Moose Race was mentioned. The interviewer asked the new sheriff if he thought O'Connell's determination to pin the crime on three people who didn't do it was "over-reach by a cop gunning for a promotion, racism, or tunnel vision" Imho he didn't even need to ask. It's crystal clear WHY those three were isolated and persued.
This is what real news reporter look like. What a good man. His heart is pure and the sheriff and all those who tried to bring justice, well done.
certainly, yes
And thank goodness Keyona reached out to him! What a horrible injustice!
Him saying he shouldn’t have to apologize sealed it for me. No remorse. I’m sure he unjustly got others locked up too.
Right?! Imagine the people he's falsely accused. The lives he's carelessly ruined. And has no remorse.
He knew from the get go these 3 people were innocent. He just wanted a quick conviction and to climb to the top fast. He was evil too from the start he sealed it for me
Oh now that he is in prison all and I mean all his previous cases will be looked into
😂 the Cops spent two years or more trying to send three black people to prison for the crime like ALWAYS 😢got so caught up in their HATE FEELINGS until he intentionally hid the DNA of the real killer 😮DAMN the new Chief of police and other officers came and solved the case within 11 months🤔 this is So Sad 😭
And he's still saying "how do we know they didn't do it??!"....This guy is a mess.
The tenacious reporter was so invested to help those people who were innocent and needed a voice he actually cried. What a kind and wonderful man.
The fact the bad cop couldn’t even admit he messed it up speaks volumes! So grateful for good cops who go the extra mile!
I had an awful experience with a NYC detective. To make a long story short, he targeted me for a crime I did not commit. He knew all the evidence pointed to another woman. He did not care. They offered me something called and ACD but I said no. That I wanted to go to trial. I was found not guilty in 15 minutes. The jury AND the judge met me in the hallway afterwards and apologized for what I went through. You see I was put behind bars in a holding sell for 11 hours as they were about to process me to go to Riker's Island. I lost my job and my pension EVEN though I was innocent. I sued and though it took 7 years I settled for $1/4M. That might seem like a lot but my career was ruined and I had to start all over again. When I shared my story with law students, I always said that it would have been much worse if I were black. Also, the detective stated that I was arrested because of a new initiative by of all people the then mayor, the now disbarred Rudy G. I would not wish my story or this one on my worst enemy. The detective in my case was not reprimanded and retired with a full pension.
Right! I love how he says that he's not here to say he was wrong since he never got to to close the investigation or whatever exactly he said like come on! Obviously something was wrong otherwise you wouldn't have been taken off the case! And what's with the other guys stealing the drugs?! 🙄😮💨

How grotesquely twisted does a cop's mind have to be to ignore the fact that the DNA found under the victim's nails did not match any of his three suspects. He actually hid it from the grand jury. What kind of hatred or evil drives people like that?

First investigator O’Connell said one truth about himself, “detectives are wrong all the time”. His status quo attitude was blatant incompetence & it stalled the Heather Bogle case. O’Connell’s incompetence was rightly documented by Matt Westerhold from the local newspaper. It’s a sad shame O’Connell’s lack of integrity severely impacted Keyona’s life.

Dateline did this story and in it Heather’s family were so frustrated with Sean O’Connell. They voiced pretty early on that they wanted another investigator. It’s baffling how he can stand by his investigation and not take the DNA evidence from her body into consideration and rule out those three innocent people. Instead of investigating to see where the evidence takes him, he tried to find a way to implicate them without a shred of evidence. It’s scary how he looks so believable in his interviews. He served 25 years on the force? Makes you wonder if he had such tunnel vision on his other cases and possible innocent people in prison. Glad that monster is where he belongs and Heather finally got justice. RIP.

Exactly. So many cold cases...
Exactly
Not true, of course. There are neighborhoods where violent crime never happens.
The O’Connell’s within law enforcement need to be sentenced life in prison without parole for this type of corruption. This contributes to the rot of society by destroying innocent lives while letting (deadly) criminals remain on the loose.
I agree! It would be a great deterrent!
You're absolutely right and I also believe anybody serving time convicted by evidence produced by him should be released immediately and retried!!!
O'Connell's run the Police Departments!!!

I'm still reeling from the shock that he still thinks those three black people were still worth pursuing even after evidence of DNA proved otherwise. Then had a cheek to leave the findings out if the report.
Not only did O'Connell mess up the three peoples lives , he also put every woman in the area in danger by having Danny Myers loose on the street to continue his crimes. They need to go through all of his old cases to look for more instances of wrongdoing.
48 Hours is the best of all crime shows hands down.

The journalist was a little over the top. The crying was somewhat self-congratulatory. He’s just a big lib who will always blame the police. I am NOT condoning the mistakes of the first policeman but how can people read his heart and say that “he’s a racist!” I think he should have lost his job for sloppy police work but to put someone in prison who served this country in the military and then had a 25 year service as a policeman is too much. Unless there were other examples of racism over his 25 years, then this was lazy and sloppy work. Since nothing else was brought up that would indicate that he was trying to fix cases against people due to racism, then this was overkill and that journalist poured fuel on the fire. That’s what these lefties do. They hate the police and any time they can, they try to bring them down. I do not see him as some great protector of justice as he sees himself. So, he'd rather a pscho sex predator murderer go free and 3 innocent black people go to prison/death penalty. Hateful racist much... Thank God for that journalist 🙏
The only thing you can prove about the first investigator is his incompetence, nothing else. YT commenters unaware of the concept of _irony_ are accusing him of racism and corruption: Every one of those commenters are guilty of a measure of exactly what they accuse him of. Oh, the irony.
Kuddos to the judge for sentencing that crooked cop. We don’t need liars serving the community or courts.
Now all the cases of that O'conell need to be reviewed.
Hopefully the woman sued that cop
This why we need to make sure to support local newspapers
my heart goes out to her family.i cant immagine what this woman went through.and her family.rest in peace beautiful soul.you wont be forgotten.
The young lady went to the reporter for help, the reporter investigated and brought light to the story.. he didn’t stop. His hard work was rewarded when authorities forced the crooked sheriff and detective to resign. The new sheriff was relentless in finding the true killer. What a story!
I absolutely love the heart of both the newspaperman and the new Sheriff... Praise God for both of them!!
Another great job by 48 hours. Always enjoy your stories, though tragic. RIP Heather
That dirty cop deserved more than two years. He ruined that poor girl's life.
He pleaded guilty but yet still trying to justify his actions. Can’t believe he really omitted DNA evidence. In his mind he really believes he right. Most shocking thing was someone else had given him the killer’s name and he didn’t follow up.
The former cop didn't care about the families of the people he was accusing
Shout out to that reporter!! He a real one.. I’ve never been more mad about a case…
The reporter didn't really do much tho. I never heard of him nor anyone else. As direct family I can say he didn't talk to family of Heather.
Where were the Pro Bono attorneys when this happened???
Can you imagine these criminal cops during the Jim Crow era?
THERE ARE MANY O'CONNELS YET TO BE JAILED....RIP HEATHER AND LEIGH ANN
That amount of hatred for an acquaintance is scary. To think of the crooked cop would of had his way, this would have happened again. I hope every guilty verdict that happened under that cops watch gets reevaluated. Obviously, it wasn’t his first time.
Cop wasn't crooked. He was incompetent. Big difference.
@@jimwerther He purposely withheld evidence in order to charge 3 innocent people. He didn't accidently do this. GTFOH!
@@Desantisgogoboots
No, that is not what happened. He was trying to make his case to a DA, which is hardly the same thing as making a case in court. He thought he had his guys. He was wrong.
@@jimwerther According to the judge it's exactly what happened.
@@itzflowers4me
They went after him because they needed to nail him so they could go after the actual killer. The case against him was rather thin. For better or for worse, when police send recommendations over to the DA's office, they commonly send over only the evidence that helps them. It is a very different animal than withholding exculpatory information from the defense, which violates Brady. And this guy made it easy to go after him, because he had a history of being wrong.
So sad what happened to Heather 😢. Rest in peace dear angel.
This sheriff deserves a medal for doing an amazing job and bring the corrupt officer down. Rest in peace to both women.
I just know that other trash detective is the type of person that is too stubborn to admit he’s wrong and that’s usually caused by a big ego. He’s hellbent on his assumptions of those 3 that he’s not making sense anymore it’s almost laughable to be honest.
That rude brother is the stupid one. Should also feel guilty.
So true. No compassion at all. She was working full time, going to school and a single mother. Had the world on her shoulders. Perhaps if he had of offered to babysit she would’ve had more time to study for the exam.
Wouldn’t they check her GPS first?! That would’ve been solved in 4 hrs! Also, pleading guilty should not get you out of the death penalty
I concur.
Then he wouldn't have pled guilty. Duh.
They don’t need a guilty plea though cuz they have plenty of evidence. I’ll have to ask a policeman why they do that. (Probably to save court costs, ugh)
@@beckygibney3762 to save cost and avoid the pain of going through a trial for the victim's family.
You are a blessing to your audience by delivering turns. Thank you and be blessed.
So this investigator was doing his best to hold 3 innocent people responsible while the man who did it was committing sexual assaults on girls too afraid to report him!!!
Cops like this who don’t follow the evidence but try to make the evidence fit the case or in this case the narrative that they are trying to prove, and then hide evidence are disgusting…it doesn’t bring justice for the victims, their families and the community.
How in the world did it take LE 2 freaking years to go through her phone and social media?! That’s insane! This could have been solved so much faster had her digital footprint been analyzed sooner!!
Utterly incomprehensible
It’s because of the racist bad cop. He didn’t bother to look. He was in a hurry to convict innocent people of his own twisted justification. if wasn’t for the reporter who exposed the corruption innocent lives would have been destroyed and the monstrous psychopath would still be out killing more.
Her sister hired a PI and pushed the investigation.
@@Crazyman23 She does .I was at her vigil and know for a fact .
@@Crazyman23 That's weird I was literally in her van on the way to Fremont with my sister ,also met her at the mall to buy Justice for Heather signs .She absolutely loved her sister 🙏
He DESTROYED other families and he wants consideration? He should've got more more than two years! 😠
