In my area of California a homeless man beat up a homeowner when caught vandalizing the homeowner property. The police don’t even take him to jail. Just wrote him a ticket to appear in court. Same homeless man 6 months later threw a rock a broke the lighted sign in front of the police station. He received 6 years in prison for that.

Whether someone has committed a crime or not is a poor excuse for actual evidence they committed the specific crime I’m question…. Fortunately people much smarter than you designed our justice system. It’s much better to have some criminals go free than to have tons of innocent people convicted of crimes they didn’t commit. And I’m a former cop, I get what ur saying, but there are lots of cases where someone is identified as a suspect based on their past convictions and they turn out to be innocent, which is why details of former crimes aren’t allowed. They can be used for sentencing tho which is the important part.

Decision whether a suspect is guilty or not should be made based on hard evidence only, not biased by suspect's previous deeds, their racial, social or any other background. Otherwise we might be looking for a scapegoat good enough to be put behind bars while the real perpetrator roams free and commits more crimes. No legal system is perfect and even hardest punishment won't reverse the evil done, but emotions aren't the good advisor during trial. I find some of these real crime shows (48 hours being the best example of that) trying to induce too much emotions while being less focused on actual detectives' work and forensic procedures.
This specific one made me emotional. They stressed her innocence and kindness. The fact that survivor came to speak at the sentencing was just absolutely priceless.

I loved in Port Orchard, WA in 1991 about an hour away from Federal Way. I remember this case, I was a Mother of a young daughter age 8 and a son age 2... soon I would be pregnant with my second son. I vividly remember the chill knowing how close evil was. I'm so grateful to all of those who never gave up on Sarah's case. I'm so grateful for the new technology that found and was able to punish such a Monster. There are current studies that show some people present with stronger violent markers in their genetic makeup that would lead to develop violent tendencies; however will people not procreate if they know their offspring can be a threat to society? Let's say two people when their genetic material mix their offspring has a high probability of psychopathic tendencies; how will society control and manage such threat? Currently people with schizophrenia and bipolar have a 50% chance of having an offspring with that same disease however they still reproduce knowing the risk and burden on their offspring. The field of genetics comes coupled with ethics and this will give rise to societies coming together based on their goals and views of what type of communities they want to build.

Decision whether a suspect is guilty or not should be made based on hard evidence only, not biased by suspect's previous deeds, their racial, social or any other background. Otherwise we might be looking for a scapegoat good enough to be put behind bars while the real perpetrator roams free and commits more crimes. No legal system is perfect and even hardest punishment won't reverse the evil done, but emotions aren't the good advisor during trial. I find some of these real crime shows (48 hours being the best example of that) trying to induce too much emotions while being less focused on actual detectives' work and forensic procedures.
This specific one made me emotional. They stressed her innocence and kindness. The fact that survivor came to speak at the sentencing was just absolutely priceless.
I'm so sick of stories when offenders are let out too soon or have light sentences. Offenders will offend again.

Due to overcrowding some inmates are let out of prison years before the time they should have served. This should NEVER happen with violent offenders who need to be in a place far away from society. I am aware the US has more correctional facilities than any other country but if it means building more prisons so be it. Sarah should be with us today.
If the court system handled all the non-violent drug & alcohol related crimes more appropriately there would be plenty of room to incarcerate predators (who are routinely given plenty of second-chances) and repeat offenders. The Federal government has taskforces wasting billions of dollars filling prisons with drug criminals (the guy who may have sold 'a bag of weed' to kids like the skateboarders in this segment)... THAT has been the target demographic of our government over the past 30+ years... not processing rape kits and getting violent offenders incarcerated.
Yeah, and no matter how crowded a prison is, a rapist sentenced to 10 years, should never be out after 3.5 years. No wonder the justice system doesn't tell the victims, that's shame right there.
The answer is probably to not put people in jail for things like weed/light drug use so there is room for people who commit real crimes.

My spouse was teaching at Federal Way High School when Sarah was killed. It was my understanding that a jogger actually saw the monster and Sarah in the bushes and he thought they were making out and “minded his own business.” That wasn’t touched on in this documentary.

I loved in Port Orchard, WA in 1991 about an hour away from Federal Way. I remember this case, I was a Mother of a young daughter age 8 and a son age 2... soon I would be pregnant with my second son. I vividly remember the chill knowing how close evil was.
I'm so grateful to all of those who never gave up on Sarah's case. I'm so grateful for the new technology that found and was able to punish such a Monster.
Sarah left a legacy of an incredibly wonderful and strong family and friends that will never forget her or let her memory and life be forgotten.

It is a big boom but is quietly introduce in society to prevent people becoming too alarm. There are current studies that show some people present with stronger violent markers in their genetic makeup that would lead to develop violent tendencies; however will people not procreate if they know their offspring can be a threat to society? Let's say two people when their genetic material mix their offspring has a high probability of psychopathic tendencies; how will society control and manage such threat? Currently people with schizophrenia and bipolar have a 50% chance of having an offspring with that same disease however they still reproduce knowing the risk and burden on their offspring. The field of genetics comes coupled with ethics and this will give rise to societies coming together based on their goals and views of what type of communities they want to build.
This is mind blowing science.....I am sooo impressed with this genealogy tracing. It also tells future criminals that you positively will get caught. No doubt about it. Its just a matter of when.....

Belief in God has been the enemy of science for 1000 years. Most recently Bush banned stem cell research under pressure from the religious right. In Europe, it was illegal to try and understand how the body worked for centuries.

My maternal grandfather murdered a woman in the 50's. I have a fear that she may have not been the only one but I do have my DNA available for law enforcement use just in case.
Per usual the detectives got so much thanks. They couldn't solve it for two decades until a scientist gave them the name they needed. They rarely solve anything until someone else gives them the tip or confesses or does the science. The man should have never been on the streets, and they should have never missed it when it happened. How did they not look for him?
