- Once again it's time to look at another DLC character, or two for that matter. Becasue today we are taking a look at Pyra and Mythra's hitboxes. With double the characters it also means double the hitboxes, so I hope you enjoy todays a little longer than usual hitbox analysis video.

Should’ve named it “Pretty massive” to represent both Pyra and Mythra lol
Yes he should’ve
Or privileged and massive
Or passive and massive
Hitboxes aren’t the only thing
Yes
Lightning Buster ignores the weight class of characters and automatically sets any characters weight that’s getting hit by the move to 100. What I love about this is that in Xenoblade 2 Lightning Buster’s special ability is that it can ignore defense. I just love the little reference Sakurai made there
That... Explains why I've noticed it being so inconsistent, killing heavies insanely early (well, compared to anything else Mythra can do at least,) but then not doing as much as I'd expect to lightweights.
Good to know.
@@ElecManEXE yup 👍
wow, neat!
Oh my God it does...
That's awesome!
Marth's spike: A small dot that lasts a single frame.
Pyra: *THE WHOLE FUCKEN GIANT SWORD*
Ah that’s why I can’t spike with mythra which sucks because pyra has the worst recovery in the game
@@Fentnihilator Pyra is nowhere near having the worst recovery in the game.
@@applemoose9675 pretty much she has. The horizontal distance is literally non-existant and the vertical is not so high. Ganon at least can prevent at certain degree edgeguarding and mac horizontal recovery is minuscule, but exists.
Ur fault for not playing dlc
@@applemoose9675 She's definitely down there, Mythra's even worse. I think you would have a tough time naming 10 characters with worse recoveries than them. I'm not 100% sure about Mythra because photon edge to ledge might or might not be punishable with aerial spikes or other aerials. They can end up off stage on fairly early percent in a position where they have forced recoveries (only one clear recovery route) or situations with very few options. Any hit that sends far horizontally is an awful scenario for them.
I agree Ganon's is worse because he lacks Pyra's air speed/floatiness, has a bigger hitbox and smaller vertical distance than her plus slower travel time and worse hitbox on his recovery.
Mac's recovery is severely underrated because he has one of the best air speeds in the game, side B beats out practically everything and you can't challenge up B from above. Even Samsora has said Mac is not that easy to edgeguard. Pyra's and mythra's is worse imo
Mythra: Hey Sakurai, how many hitboxes are you gonna put on Lightning Buster?
Sakurai: *yes.*
Yes
What about photon edge?
Also sakurai: Y E S
The whole rainbow and then some
What about Flame Nova?
And also Sakurai: *Y E S*, also make the hitboxes look like a sandwitch.
Anyone else severely hate fighting these 2? I love my girls, but MAN they need to chill out
He doesn’t even sugarcoat it or alliterate it, they’re just “massive”
It's alliterative for Mythra
just like nintendo likes their lawsuits

Sephiroth would be so jealous. He only has grape and orange skittles, MythPy has the entire rainbow.
The Lightning Buster hitboxes just look like somebody made the hitboxes accurate to the sword but somebody else thought they were too small for a dlc character and just slapped a massive hitbox on them
Aka the Smash 4 Cloud treatment.
Fun fact: it's possible for characters like Kirby, Snake, and Jigglypuff to crouch under the multihits of Flame Nova and for Snake, he can crawl away from the last hit
This move needs to be fixed, it doesn't break tought guy and the priority is awful, it klanks with jabs and get beaten by some tilts, it's nuts.
@@noirlavender6409 it's like bayo's smash attacks,it's supposed to be situationally used.

Considering who got the adjective treatment, we can certainly say that Rekzius prefers Mythra, as a fighter of course.
I prefer Mythra
as a waifu of course
I really don't wanna answer that
Pyra's range on everything is much better so massive hitboxes is more about Pyra
@@Bladieblah Apply more context because someone may get the wrong idea
Sakurai really wanted to make sure all the multihits they had hit, because they put *54* frames of hit stun on Pyra's blazing edge.
Meanwhile, people still fall out of multihit moves like Ganon's Nair or Samus's Up Smash more than anything in the world.
The amount of times I literally was stuck for a full second before the other 50 hitboxes hit me from side b is insane.
Photon Edge is just insane with the disjointed _hurtbox,_ while Blazing End's visualization is just mesmerizing to me since it just looks like a flying sword that was thrown like a boomerang before spontaneously deciding to stop being a boomerang and start being PK Fire. I especially love how it slows down like it's about to stop before suddenly speeding up again for the last hit and then slowly collapsing. It just looks like the sword has a mind of its own, which you can argue that it kind of does.
Also, you can only reflect the "boomerang" part of it and not the "PK Fire" one.
the blazing end of your life
It really does look like it should be a boomerang, but it's not.
I don't think Photon Edge being disjointed is that bad. If you want to contest the move just shield it and you can punish with a smash or any combo starter. It does provide the benefit of beating more stuff out but that's it. You can also still trade with it with the right move and it loses to projectiles straight up
Pyra and Mythra hitboxes summarized:

If there's quotes that embody these hitboxes, they're: "It's not even a hitbox. It's just a pack of Skittles" and "It's a snowman!"
-Ok Sakurai we can have this small hotboxes that follow the sword or we can have this big ass hotboxes that cover shit ton of space
Sakurai: Yes
-Yes to what?

So are we going to get a Kirby Hitbox analysis after the last fighter of the fighter pass is released to show off every unique neutral B?
Man, everyone with a spinning nair has different frame data, don't they? Even when it's the same fighter, the hitboxes are different here!
They're not "hit boxes", they're "surprise collisions".
the smash community: it's not all about edge guarding
sakurai: let me show just wrong you are
You missed the opportunity of having the title say “Powerful and Massive” instead of just massive.
Also DAMN THOSE HITBOXES ARE BIG
My thoughts exactly.
*Just like their ti-*
Mythra: PHOTON EDGE!
Rekzius: **Stroke**
Or maybe that was neutral B
@@RTDelete I find the flame nova particularly interesting. They know the autolink angle can fail sometimes and instead they use multiple angles to launch closer to Pyra but not too close. It makes sense if you consider she can move while doing the attack, making necessary more hitboxes than usual.

I feel using default skin for hitbox visualisation would be better so it’s easier to tell them apart
they use alts so you can see the hitboxes clearly
Just differentiate them with their hair length
You can't notice pyra's bigger hitboxes? Yikes
@@fancyclown3593 hehe
I think we were at the mercy of whoever made the hit box visualization.
I think the reason they add a giant hitbox over top a bunch of smaller ones is to cover for thinner characters.
If a move even slightly goes into the Z-axis, a thin character like Joker or ZSS could just stagger their walk & not get hit.
That's my only explanation for it.
"She's beautiful, she's powerful, she's got huge... Hitboxes!"
and huge...
absolutely massive...
HORRIFYINGLY HIGH AMOUNTS OF COMBO POTENTIAL GOD HELP ME
So many of these hitboxes look like the devs were a bit pushed for time, where they made some sword-accurate ones, tried them out, felt they were a bit too strict and added some larger boxes on top for testing, then Sakurai bursts into the room and takes all the code to the announcement event.
Super DLC Hitbox Bros.
These are some Smash 4 Cloud hitboxes lmao.
You probably shouldn't have used the skin where they look so similar, while I could follow along fine people less familiar with the characters might lose track at times which of the two they're looking at.
PSA: Pyra doesn't live longer than Mythra, as Mythra's higher fall speed tends to negate knockback more than Pyra's higher weight does
in ultimate fall speed is automatically set to a value (i recall it was 1.8) while in hitstun
Pyra lives 4% longer than Mythra
Did you know?
Pyra and Mythra are great characters, but they are Prominence Revolting to fight against.
Good joke
I want to Thanos snap them into chroma dust
Can we Blazing end this
15:02 that just looks like the kahoot menu
LMAO
Pyra and Mythra: *have massive hitboxes*
Ivysaur: Ivy Ivysaur
(Translation: My true successors.)
Pyra and Mythra certainly have large "hitboxes"
The painful comment about Little Mac's air dodge really hurt.
It sometimes feels like Ganon doesn't have the hitbox interpolation on the forward smash
Those up-smash hitboxes are so satisfying, how they just slide into one another.
I feel like the landing hitbox is there to prevent nair loop shenanigans, honestly. See Palutena or even just Mewtwo for as to why.. kind of annoying.
12:43 I discovered this by accident, using these hitboxes can set you up for a nasty combo that even has KO potential.
i hope "Massive" in the title is a reference to Massive Melee Mythra in xb2 which unlocks her censored outfit
I'd love to see Villager's hit boxes, I feel like I don't understand them sometimes!
Thank you for the info on the photon edge hurtbox!
That move is a mess. I'm really grateful to actually know ho it works, and why projectiles hit it the way they do.
It’s not just the hit boxes, you’re forgetting something else
If I were to take a guess as to why the Neutral Specials were like that, I would guess that they put hitboxes on the swords before realizing that it was too inconsistent, especially for a slow power move on a DLC character. So they solved the problem by putting much bigger and more consistent hitboxes there, but then just didn't delete the old hitboxes.
1. go to training mode as pyra
2. set camera to close up and speed to 1/4
3. face left
4. downsmash
yw
Damn you took no time at all with this one! I really like playing them and Mythra is so much faster than I thought.
0:33 ok, we already thought it might be true, but now we know that Rekzius likes FE4
Homura/Hikari are SO broken it’s hysterical. With the minor exception of aerial recovery of course xD
6:53 Alright, let's give Marth a big sci fi sword, see how he handles
It’s not the only massive thing around here.
Bazinga
This is the best and funniest hit box episode yet!
Yeah I saw the hitboxes before this, and I was asking myself, *Ok which intern made these?*
Man I love this series. More boss hitboxes in the future? 🤔
During my first day testing these two I got GRABBED out of mythra side B and I didn’t understand until now
I was waiting for this video just to see what photon edge looked like, and I am not disappointed
End the Phrase;
Pyra and Mythra‘s massive...

Why is it that when I hear of Pyra & Mythra's "massive hitboxes", I'm brought back to memories of how Smash Twitter went into chaos over 7.0.0 Zelda?

Nope, Ike is pretty much dead in the metagame at this point.

Not really but it would be nice to see visuals, specifically on why Back Air and Forward Smash outright miss opponents at times.

Finally, some DLC fuckin hitboxes
They’d have to change the game’s rating if DLC fucks their hitboxes.

The only things that annoys me is mythra's foresight, mostly because i use bayo and bothers me that in comparison with bat within its way better, if bayo wasn't so vulnerable after activating it i wouldn't be mad, probably the only down side of foresight is that leaves mythra more vulnerable against comand grabs

In addition to the crazy hitboxes, has anyone noticed a very short end lag for their neutral b’s? I swear the Mythra CPU throws out lightning buster, I shield my way through it, then go for the punish but she somehow has time to either evade it or hit me first.
Pit mains are screaming looking at these multihits.
flame nova's starting hitboxes look like a secret spy code
Can we possibly get it changed to Pretty Massive hit boxes the title card does match with the characters name
Could you look at Lucas' hitboxes next please? It would be great for others to see his hitboxes, maybe ness and mewtwo too

Thats what you're lookin for
So what I've learned is that how well done the animation is is inversely related with my ability to comprehend anything about the hitboxes
I'm not sure if I'm glad this character got into the game or not
Oh, so _that's_ why she's called Massive Melee Mythra.
You should do Pyra and Mythra next!
I’d like to see you talk about one of the Links. If I had to choose one, it’d be Toon Link.
Massive melee mythra, more like massive disjointed mythra!
