I find it funny how Mythra is canonically stronger than Pyra, but Smash said, "let's switch that up"

The fact that their movesets other than their Specials are identical makes sense given that they're literally borrowing each other's muscle memory. In terms of Specials, Pyra's Blazing End is actually copied from Mythra's Terminal Flash.
Regarding Pyra being stronger, this is actually supported in XC2 where Mythra has higher critical hit chance, while Pyra has higher critical damage. The reason why Mythra is so much stronger in practice is because of Lightspeed Flurry that instantly recharges her attacks when she crits, allowing them to be spammed endlessly. This actually means that Mythra being better at combos in Smash also makes sense given the source material.
Actually, Pyra’s unique ability is that here forward Smash is extremely powerful.
It's also got more range than Sonic's side smash... only a little though.

While I generally like Pyra more (she's such an adorable sweetheart), you just can't have one without the other.

Another tiny fact about their side specials: Pyra's is 2 frames faster than Mythra's.
Also, Mythra's side special just sucks total ass.
I like Mythra a bit more, bc I like combo characters, but I like Pyra almost just as much. There is something really satisfying about hitting Pyra’s moves.

Lightning Buster is hilarious to use on walk off stages especially when paired with Photon Edge

The difference? Mythra only is more competitive viable than Pyra only.
Mythra wouldn't be very good on her own either. She needs Pyra to kill, and unlike Shiek who is also not strong, Mythra's recovery would be in contention for worst in the game without Pyra.

@@justmiyalmao They are both important in their recovery, and Pyra's up-b is better for recovery.
Sure Mythra technically has a second recovery option with her side-b, but it is also an awful option that's only viable as a mix-up. Any decent player that knows it's coming will either punish it hard or straight up KO you if they have a spike.
@@randumo24 yeah but also mythra's up b has more horizontal control whereas pyra's goes directly up but not to the side
@@justmiyalmao It also doesn't go up as high or snap as well to the ledge. More importantly, if you do miss at all, Mythra's up-b leaves you in freefall whereas Pyra's gives you a hitbox coming down.

Fun fact: there's a specific hitbox in the inside of the hit, that can two-frame, and half of down-air spike the other half being a sour hit AND, yes I'm a Solo Pyra
Yo, you said Pyra doesn't have an unique ability but she kind of has that side tilt special that can be maneuvered to cover stage control.
One is a heavy hitter and they other is a rushdown

Wait ... is Pyra's nair really a single hit? I thought it was multi as well. I thought I recall finding it surprising when they first came out.
1:03 I just want to point out that (for whatever reason) smash calls her smash attacks being powered up with fire, if you look under the move list that shows character’s special moves and final smash (like how Rex mentions in the trailer)being super duper strong, even though all of her sword attacks are powered up with fire, and how strong your smash attacks are is just a character strengths and weaknesses.
This just means Olimar's red Pikmin have a huge advantage over Pyra.
A big difference that wasn't mentioned is that Mythra's nair has a landing hitbox, and Pyra's doesn't

I play both in tournaments but I prefer Pyra a bit more

When they were released, Mythra was as fast as Sheik and Pyramid was as fast as Zelda. With the Swap out mechanic. It feels like this was what Sheik and Zelda were envisioned to be in Melee. It works better here because they both use the same fighting style overall and weapon type.

Pyra also doesn't suck, unlike Zelda.
If Zelda was worth a damn in Melee, the swap-out mechanic would've actually been used by players who knew what they were doing.

I preferred mythra way before they were even announced for smash (bought XC2 day 1 and it’s my third favourite game of all time)
im not big on combos and i cant edge guard (at times when i did edge guard is by sheer luck one with dr. mario against dark pit and pichu against ryu) so ill go with pyra because of her managable speed and useful range and power

I love using Mythra for all my games plays...I used her so much I actually main her. The only time I use Pyra is when I need to spike someone or just finish someone off. But that's all 😂😂😂
I prefer Pyra, but probably because she’s closer to my main from before I got the Fighter Pass 2 a couple of days ago (Byleth)

I prefer pyra's design to mythra's.
but as fighters.. i do really prefer using mythra most of the match and switching to pyra whenever i feel i need her to ensure a KO, i also sometimes use her to live longer knowing that she's just a little bit heavier

Pyra's special ability is that she hits really hard... Yeah not that special when other characters are like that too.

They say that Pyra’s unique ability is, “Her attack is powered up with fire, this is exclusive to her,” it’s literally just Hero’s forward Smash. I just find both of them to be really boring, all of their normals except for their down Smash and up Smash are just copy cats if other characters, which is annoying. They couldn’t even make them unique characters.
@@kirbyof590stars They're the most fun DLC. Also, the arguments that "moves are copycat of other characters" is always a dumb argument and makes no sense. Mythra plays like literally no other character in the cast. No other sword character matches her speed and burst range. Not even close. Pyra is a bit more vanilla though, but the fact they can change between each other is unique in Ultimate because Pokemon Trainer is the only other character that can do it. And prior characters that had transformations sucked at utilizing them at a competitive level. Zelda was useless in tournament and people only used Sheik. Same with Samus, and people only using ZSS in Brawl. Besides Ultimate Pokemon Trainer, they're the only other transformation change character that uses it well in a competitive setting.

It’s sad that you never talked about the differences between Samus & Dark Samus, and Roy & Chrom because although they have a identical moveset both have if I am not mistaken still some differences like Dark Samus’s forward smash which like Dr. Mario has electricity instead of a fiery explosion and Chrom has wind effects instead of fire effects. Peach & Daisy and Simon & Richter though are the exact same aside from some aesthetic differences and different Holy Water for Richter which is more watery than fiery

I love Speed more than raw power even if I am a reckless fighter (which I tend to be) so *Mythra* for me yet again.
Also, I like Mythra more since she actually acts like a house wife (most of the time) which is usually headstrong and adamant which is something I like 😁👍

Think of Pyra/Mythra like Ryu and Ken.
Ryu and Pyra’s moves are slower but the benefits in power is worth it. Not to mention that Ryu and Pyra have better zoning capabilities than Ken and Mythra.
Ken and Mythra’s moves are weaker. But they get the benefit of speed and combo potential.

Between the events of Xenoblade 2 and Ultimate Pyra hit the gym HARD.
Also I'm with Sakurai over who's better.
She does actually do really high damage in the right setup in XC2 also, with her really high crit damage and ability to set up powerful fire combo dot damage. It's just much less easily useful as Mythra's kit that fuels all the game's basic mechanics.

While smash flair is listed as unique in the trailer, in practice it's more like all of Pyra's moves just have more reach and power but are slower and generally not multi hit.
@@TheEmperorGulcasa Yeah, but Smash Flare takes it to the extreme. But I was saying that as more of a joke anyway. It's hilarious that Mythra gets this special gimmick and Pyra's equivalent is just Forward Smash.

@@TheEmperorGulcasa its quite powerful even by smash attacks standards, only comparable to the likes of doriyah, and on a character that can be as fast as sheik or falcon. (yeah, I count them as one character with two stances, much like the trainer)
@@ayar2 Sure, but hard hitting attacks isn't a special mechanic. Other than it's damage and knockback, there's nothing different between it and other moves. And besides, she's built to be a slow hard hitter, so it would be like saying doriyah is a special mechanic of Gannon when it's really just a hard hitting attack on a hard hitting character archetype.
I like Pyra. But mythra fits my rush down playstyle.
