@Baked Beans bayonetta kills gods too. And while kirby and Bayonetta are probably tied strength wise, Bayonetta can still dodge any attack thrown at her, and Witch Time, in the Bayonetta games, makes you invulnerable to any attack. Like seriously, if you activate witch time while an opponent or boss is trying to hit you, you'll just phase right through the attack.

Snake's down smash is actually a good part of his kit for ledge trapping if you don't... you know... stand on top of your bomb the whole time

Yeah, it was integral to his ledge trapping in Brawl and allowed him to cover almost all ledge options at once when combined with grenades, up smash, and C4. It was busted
@@monolyth2191 yep, just like what you said. His old down smash was what gave him high results in most tournaments and acted as a free motion detector bomb. It sucks that he was given a new down smash (it’s not as effective against ledge trapping like his old one was, but everyone knows this by now after 3 years)

It's fine for him to have such a move, but not as a Smash Attack because it's not a Smash. Planting a bomb is a Special move. Smash Attacks go whack.

But Snake has one of the best down smashes in Brawl? You DO know you can move after placing the landmine, right? And then it acts like a remote bomb, like the item. So yes, it can also explode on him, but as long as he just moves away, he can place a literal landmine. It's perfect for things like ledgetrapping, and usually considered one of the best smash attacks in Brawl.
Yeah, it's basically a second C4 that's motion sensored (and always grounded). It's definitely a great tool for keeping control over the stage.

I'm not saying it's a bad move for him to have. But it is a bad Smash Attack since it's really not a Smash Attack at all. If we're judging bad Smash Attacks, that's a pretty bad Smash Attack, since it doesn't even do the first thing a Smash Attack is supposed to do, which is smash.

SNAKE F SMASH! powerful but why is the start up slower than incinaroars running speed. not even mentioning the end lag.
It's so difficult to use! It's laggy all the way.
If you can hit an opponent that rolls into Snake’s F Smash (both Brawl and Ultimate) you’ll probably either get some good damage, or KO them potentially. It also does a good amount of damage to shields, so that’s also a thing
It's frame 41, so slow that it can only be used after a shield break. We all know Snake doesn't need smash attacks to kill since his Up tilt is ABSURD, so his Up-Smash is more for ledgetraps, D-Smash is more to cover rolls (altough mostly outclassed by F-tilt) and F-Smash is a nuke who is absurdly easy to react, specially since players try to avoid big openings. The old D-Smash was just an unfair ledge trap tool when combined with C4.

It's an good shield break punish and there are SOME ways snake can setup into into it
It's still pretty bad , but maybe it has a bit too much use to be on this video

I'm no expert on Snake, but an extra C4 basically gives him even more stage control, given that he has two great projectiles AND a C4 down special.

Fun fact ness's yo-yo smash attacks in melee and brawl did not increase in damage and knock-back when charged. I'm guessing the reason they did this was because since it had a charging hitbox it shouldn't also be able to increase in damage? But the hits themselves aren't even that strong and it feels like the charging hitboxes were added just to be quirky and different and not actually useful. This was changed in Ultimate thankfully and the damage does scale with the charge
As a Meele Kirby main, I feel personally attacked but 100% right.

Wait what really? That’s so dump. Lucas also has something with dash-attack that no other character has so I can definitely feel your pain.
Lucas’ dash-attack has a motion rate of 0,75x while literally any other character has a motion rate of 1,0x or higher.
So this means that he runs at 75% speed during the animation of dash-attack.
So not only does it have slow start-up, it also slows us down making it a pretty bad burst option.
They gave him 2 more frames of active frames on dash-attack in the 4.0.0 patch but for some reason they also gave it 2 frames more faf.

Mained both ness and lucas in sm4sh and ness felt really weird in this game so that’s why I play lucas (I have been trying to pick ryu recently just to have fun but i’m too loyal to drop lucas).

Steve’s forward smash sucks without a weapon
I still feel like Hero’s Up Smash is garbage. I know it can crit but the hit box is pretty bad compared to a lot of other up smashes
Same for Belmont's Up Smash. The main purpose of an Up-Smash in ultimate is being an OoS kill option. Falco'S Up-Smash tend to lose to pancaking, but Falco users know that thing is more of an Anti-air who can hit people in front of them. And hey, frame 7 kill move is frame 7 kill move.

falco’s upsmash is not that bad. it’s inconsistent and the hitbox isn’t great, but it’s fast and can kill decently well

I've actually never seen Robin's up smash with the bronze sword. It's like Hero's up smash except Robin's can't crit.

@@tap7645 i mean the it's favor they have a good range, but the startup is too long can't be used from a combo, up and down smash kill relatively late(Wich gets worse during witch time), have too much end lag(even characters with longer reach has less lag), and in personal note down smash deal little shield damage and it's meteor effect it's relatively weak.

Im expecting ganon’s u-smash in smash 4 to be in the best smash attacks. Even with its long start up, if it hits at all, it kills (of course), but is basically unpunishable if shielded

Bayo's smash attacks should have been talked about in smash 4, cuz their priority was even worse in that game. I had my Fsmash get beaten out by Kirby's SOURSPOT back air. One huge change given to them in Ultimate which makes them better in this game is that their aerial-only hitboxes were given transcendent priority, meaning they CANNOT be canceled out if the opponent is airborne when they get hit.
Ness's down smash in melee is actually good cuz the charge has a hitbox, similar to ultimate, so use it at the l'edge, plus you can use it to perform a glitch that makes ness broken
The glitch is super hard to perform on cpu’s that move and it’s not practical plus it doesn’t gimp in melee like it does in ultimate
When you make a "The Best Smash Attacks in Smash Bros. History
" video, you gotta include Peach downsmash from melee that shit does way too much damage, eats shields for breakfast, and kills.
Ness yoyo in melee is not entirely useless because of something unintentional called "the Yoyo-glitch"

Bayo's smash attacks also have the worst charge modifier, which gets even worse during Witch Time AND they can STILL clank during Witch Time! It's bogus.
Ness's yo-yo smashes in Melee is worth to use cause of the yo-yo glitch.
Same for Sm4sh Ness's yo-yo, it's a good "get off me" move as the hitbox comes out at frame 6, the hitbox being inside of Ness, which makes it one of Ness's fastest out of shield move in Sm4sh.
Hero's up smash has one little hitbox directly above his head
I use Ness down smash in melee as a tech trap. But that's it lol

Ness down smash in Melee glitches out when you get hit 1 and 3. You can down air after and it always hits and spikes. And Peach down smash in Brawl is busted. You have to really play it A LOT to understand that one.
Samus' Up Smash in Smash 64 is great when your fighting against Master Hand though, especially when he takes his time to deliver on his next move!

Hero's up smash is borderline useless imo. There it literally NO WAY that ANY grounded opponent will get hit by this move.

Hero and the Belmont's up smash have REALLY unforgiving hitboxes, I'm not sure if good players ever use those moves.
Hero has a kill confirm with it after landing a dair on a grounded opponent and belmont's its used for platform shield breaks or pressure with his proyectiles, i dont use them a lot, but i believe this moves are okay
It can't hit opponents that are in front or behind him.

Smash 4 Gunner's down smash actually has deceptively long range on the front hit. It can catch a lot of players who don't expect to get hit.
It took me *this* long to realise that “Smash attacks” doesn’t mean all attacks in Smash, but specifically the Smash attacks in Smash?
Smash melee: you die at 20
Smash 64: you get hit you die
Hero up smash is also worth mentioning.
Snake’s down smash is a land mine

As a Melee Kirby main, Kirby's F-Smash is fast for a smash attack (Frame 13), has good range and can be used after a down throw

I have to mention Marth's down smash from melee. Slow move, barely no damage or knockback, lot of endlag... It's worthless
