- I've been doing hitbox videos for quite a while now, but one thing I have yet to talk about is one of the characters I actually play. So it's about time we change that. Today we take a look at the Belmonts and their various hitboxes.

to be fair, the character sucks.
Belmont players want to like his moves.

Because somebody on the Smash team decided “Hey, let’s make a mid screen zoner, but let’s not actually allow him to anything that’s not in a straight line!”
Finding out the character you really like and generally do well with factually sucks is surreal to say the least

It's a rotation thing. The whip has to keep up with the rotation of the arm, and to do so, it moves farther in the same timeframe, having more energy, more hitting force, ect. The big beefy arms provide the power, but they aren't what's supposed to be hitting the opponent, so the arm movement won't properly apply hitting force to the opponent. Whip technique isn't very good for punching.

Fun Fact:
Ironic as the title “Belmont’s Bizarre Hitboxes” is to Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure, both voice actors for Simon and Richter have voiced in the English Dub of the anime, with Simon’s voice actor playing the role of Speedwagon for Parts 1 & 2 and Richter’s voice actor playing the role of the narrator throughout all the dubbed parts so far.

Corrin's Comedic hitboxes
Her up tilt is weird and side b doesn't even have a bit box throughout the whole dragon lance. And some of her attacks leave out the tip of her sword

I use f!Corrin whenever i play the character bc m!Corrin's voice is grating af. Robin is a bit better so I alternate between the two. #BlackEaglesHouse so I'm contractually obligated to play Edelgard Byleth. And Wii Fit's default is female so on the off chance I use her thats what it is.

They're just average, as EVERYTHING in Pit. The problem is the inconsistency (looking at you, second worst up-air in the game) and that bad frame data in the air (only N-air comes before frame 10. Even GANONDORF and KING K. ROOL have more fast aerial options). And NO, fast smash attacks aren't enough to compensate. In that aspect he reminds me of Kirby, so I can fell your pain Pit mains.
I'm sorry to say, but I don't think he's gonna look at a character with no hitboxes lol. I'm kidding, I'm kidding
@@N12015 As Little Mac exists, I don't think any other set of aerials comes close to being the "worst" in the game. Pit's Uair covers alot of space and catches airdodges nicely. It is extremely inconsistent but their are worse offenders (Sonic/Shulk).
Slower aerials also aren't the end of all things. If they hit hard, cover a large space, combo easily or are lethal than being slow is a suitable issue. Just think of how much people complain about Palutena's aerials. Imagine if Pit's Nair had less landing lag and better hitboxes. It'd be insanity lol
If you love something, you always gotta acknowledge its flaws. The fact that this man called out so much flaws is a testament to how much he enjoys playing Richter.
Sadly this is shunned in the Smash community... For some stupid reason...

Being experienced at a character kinda also makes you fall into the trap of "my character should be better". For example the comparison to Snake I don't get. Snake's moves are stronger have less lag and better hit boxes. But you can't chain them at all due to endlag and the Belmonts have extreme range with their whip on all jabs and airs in addition to being able to angle them.

It's always interesting seeing how precise hitboxes are often times more detrimental despite looking cleaner and fitting the animation more. With Belmont's f-tilt, they can't just extend the hitbox down without it looking odd. I could see them moving both the animation and hitbox down though.

Smash attacks: clackers. Up B, also clackers. Side B, boomerang clackers. Down B, flammable gas (as seen in the Wammu fight) and neutral B can be the axe Joseph uses to cut off stroheim’s leg
(7:20) But the move still has a unique animation for when the whip hits the wall. It makes no sense that a character doesn't get hit in front of the wall. When this wall-hit animation plays, they should lock a hitbox to the end of the whip, so it still can hurt, but doesn't go through the wall.

@@VaultSSBThe only difference is that Richter's can hit red pikmin, while Simon's cannot. This makes Richter's is very slightly better, but this will almost never come into play.
It bothers me that you talk about "richter's" moves when he IS technically the clone character, but i guess it bothers me more that they even made him and simon seperate characters.

A super sour spot underneath the whip would actually be really nice. Sometimes his f-tilt is almost totally useless against shorter characters not because they're deliberately ducking to avoid, but merely because they're.. moving. lol.

In UMVC3, Morrigan is a better zoned than 4 other characters designed for zoning. And she does it with a single special move and single super move.
Love learning all about hitboxes as if I could make any use of this information even though I have no idea what the term "zoner" is supposed to even mean.
Something that made me soo mad recently as a Richter main. Min Min and Richter essentially have the same Dair(properties) exceot AND HERS GETS A BIGGER HIT BOX WHEN SHE HAS MORE RANGE ... bro that makes me soo mad.
I love using all of the "bad" Down Airs in casual, like the Belmonts' and Greninja's, because 1: it's fun, and 2: if you're fighting a boss you can just keep ricocheting off of them.

once again I attempt to request Ike's... Interesting hitboxes. Some of the hitboxes are awful such as down smash and grab, while others such as up tilt, dash attack, and eruption being downright unreasonable.
Yo, the only use of the dangle chain is the most hilarious shield pressure/ shield poking in the game.
Tbh I have a hard time thinking that those hitboxes are bad. Like sure he has bad frame data, but if he didn't he'd just be too powerful to deal with. The only way half the roster can fight him with all that spam is to dodge it and get in to grapple fight him. So to make more of his grounded moves faster would entirely negate that as an option and leave his only counter to be better zoners like young link. I do think a couple of those are rough like the down air, but I find the slower projectiles to be a compensator for how heckin stronk they are.

Here’s an idea: Ganondorf’s Generous Hitboxes. I’ve gotten some bizarre KO’s U tilt and Warlock Punch, and forward air is ridiculous sometimes.

Incineroars hitboxes feel so much larger than they actually are. Ive spiked people multiple times before when they were right next to incineroar or in his torso.
I really wish these guys were better. I think they're really cool, and their moves are fun to use, just not practical. I think it would be enough of his startup lag was buffed by 5-10%, and maybe give one of the variants the Marth to Lucina treatment (tipper focus for Simon maybe?)

okay while I didn't know the dair has a hurtbox poking out, I only ever use it in casuals since the later launch angle makes it to where if you have Grand Cross on standby it's practically a true combo.

As a Belmont main for a long time, the hardest move to land is down- angled backair.
I'm told the framedata of f-tilt is actually identical to the original whip strike from the early Castlevania games.
Can we get an analysis of ken/ryu's hitboxes. A lot of the problems that were brought up in this video are amplified on them in strange ways. Hitboxes not covering hurtboxes, multihits with a tendency to fall out, hitboxes having glaring blindspots, the works.
