Though he showed video of the ST and RS, I think he was specifically talking about the base models of the Focus / Fiesta (I had a Focus myself and the transmission shit out at 13k miles).
4:07 I don’t know where they’re getting their information. The Q50 rides and handles great and is very reliable. I have 119000 commute miles on the dash of my 2014 Q50 and never had a problem. It also has one of the best naturally aspirated V6 ever made. And it’s also good looking. I get tons of compliments 😎
I drive a 2015 with 88,000 miles bro, they don’t handle insanely good, and do get terrible mpg. The 3.7 is reliable but the 3.0t in the new ones are unreliable although much more tunable. It doesn’t ride that great, and definitely is a stiffer ride than most others in the class. Also the transmission in all Q50’s will be a weak point not terribly unreliable but it’s not good after 150k miles.
If you have never driven a g37 or ex37 I can see how you would think the q50 handles well 2014 might be better because of the lack of drive by wire but I hated the driving dynamics on my 2015 and outta all the cars on there list it's the least deserving of being on this list but they shoulda just kept away from all the extra tech

Oh also Nissan fucked up the recommended amount of oil so some people run em a little lean.
Okay I was gonna spazz if he said the q50 was unreliable 3.7 is literally one of the most reliable v6's ever created and the forced induction vr30 is pretty reliable as well....but he is absolutely right the driving dynamics on that car is absolutely horrible car isn't rigid enough loose goose overly soft suspension lack of rigidity in the backend horrible twitchy drive by wire gives u no road feel or communication just get a g37 q40 m37 if your looking in my opinion the best crossover ever made ex37 super sleeper sports luxury crossover nobody talks about because of it's understated looks and being over shadowed by the more agressively styled fx series
I wouldn't say, personally, that the VQ37 is one of the most reliable v6s ever made, but I won't argue it either cuz it very well could be. VQ motors are very well done by Nissan. Just the internal water pump that scares me, but they have a low rate of failure actually. I have been impressed by the performance of those motors and they sound pretty cool too. And at this point most of them get absolutely thrashed by teenagers and don't mind

The grand cherokee (the wk2) has some good years, and some terrible years. I worked as a mopar tech, so i know what im talking about. The 2016-2021 (especially with the V6 Pentastar upgrade engine, aka the PUG) are the better years. The 2013 too. But you should avoid at all costs the 2011, 2012, 14 and 15. These are the most problematic years. The 16-21s have their problems too, but they are livable and you can enjoy the car. I actually own one and its great, but not without its issues. I dont believe recalls make a car unreliable. Its just the manufacturer recognizing their mistake and taking responsibility for it. There are many japanese cars (the reliable ones) that have had horrible issues that require cars to be recalled and they never did it out of fear of lawsuits and their costs. Customers just have to live with it or find a good mechanic that would fix the issue for the customer (at a cost) when the manufacturer should have taken responsibility for it. The wrangler is not too bad either. But the other ones.... well I just dont like them too much, lol. (Run)
I had a 13' Dart Ralley Turbo Highlighter Yellow color and had nothing but Transmission issues! I owned this car for 6 years and it went through 7 TCM's 3 Shifting cables & 3 Brand new Transmissions! And Dodge still couldn't figure out what the main issue was. The answer I got was the transmission had a design flaw in it with the combination of 13" Dart Ralley Turbo it was just a matter of time before it failed no matter how old the transmission was. So Glad I finally got rid of it!
I'll just hang onto my 97 Prelude since everyone forgot how to make cars correctly after 2001. Wheels, suspension, cams and tune. It's the closest I feel to my driving sims when I do street driving. Gotta love it at 9,000rpm
Yeah I agree Honda dropped the best thing they had going which was their suspension designs when changed to McPherson struts. Well their engines can rev and last a while too but the suspension change was stupid. Also their newer engines are simpler and it shows. The older Honda engines were smoother.

There’s a lot more that could be added to the list, even from companies I like. The only problem was when I changed the tires it started to pull to the left. Alignment was done, tires were rotated and it still pulled to the left, the tire/ alignment shop weren't able to find out why it pulled to the left.
Our 2012 Cruze has over 135K miles on it with the original clutch! It has been a really good, reliable car. 6 speed manual LT/RS. I’ve heard the auto trans is bad but the manual has been great.
2015 1st gen owner: it sits at 66000 KM, and yeah, I’m fearful of that trans (1.8 AT) I already have a malfunctioning PCV valve, a bad oxygen sensor and it’s leaking coolant from three different spots
Little lack of research on your take with the Q50… the vq platform is one of the most reliable motors especially for car enthusiasts that anyone could buy at a super affordable price… you can also take it a step up in price with buying a VR30… the model you showed (2.0t)essentially has a Mercedes’ Benz’s b class power train and is not as commonly found as a 3.0t VR30 there’s also a suspension option that most people hate but at its peak… the VR30 is a monster with little modification. You throw a set of wheels and tires on (car sits on 225s from factory). Get rid of those pizza cutters with an intercooler and a tune. 3500 bucks later you have a car that has class, is under the radar, and is gapping just about everything you encounter. Litterally on a non redsport model (redsport comes stock with an extra coolant mechanism) it’s a 300-700 dollar intercooler and a 1000 bucks for the tune and the hardware. And you’re actually gonna be faster than a redsport. But there is a ton of potential in those cars. Not to mention if you drive them like a normal human being you actually get great gas mileage. Do a little more research kinda outta pocket with that one… you wanna talk shit ab the Nissan Armadas suspension issues be my guest. I own a 3.0t and my brother owns a 2.0t, had an armada up to 90k miles when the suspension went.. had a buddy with a qx80 who had the same exact problem at the same exact mileage
My neighbor has a 2018 focus and its been trouble free at 70,000 miles, while another guy has a BMW 320i that has serious electrical issues on a regular basis has under 48,000 miles on the thing bought new. Parts are money pit costly.Just saying. Funny thing is the old guy across the street has a Old Ford Crown vic with 150,000 miles on it , and zero issues other than the usual maintenance stuff. Just saying.
I have a 2014 ford focus. One big thing you forgot to mention is the aluminum heads. I changed mine out when I swapped in a 6 speed manual (got rid of that crummy 6 speed dual-clutch auto) and it was WAY better on both fronts. Oh, and I redid the suspension entirely. It's on coils now. Much better
I like how he mentions the Focus, has a clip of the ST and the cover image is an RS. I own a 2017 FoRS that I bought new in 2017. No issues. Before that, I owned a 2004 Focus ZX3 (Premium). No issues with that either. Can’t win them all, I guess.
My friend bought a Cherokee after I told her don’t do it it’s a waste. She bought straight for looks and name. 5 months later the screen stopped working and she had to get it replaced which took around 4 days to get fixed. Regardless i let her know this is only the beginning lol
And that’s why I buy Toyotas, almost exclusively. My 2001 Celica was a lemon, but my 2021 Camry hybrid is awesome. So was my 2000 Solara. So was my 1998 Corolla.
Camry, Highlander RAV4 and even some Corollas have had major recalls and issues due to oil burning and transmission issues. Of course most people assume that all Toyotas are reliable like you but you’ve got to do your research. lol
In tandem with all the replies, as much as I love Toyota and tout their reliability to my friends, they've had some bad eggs and aren't free of criticism. I own an 06 Scion tC with the 2AZ-fe engine which sadly had some major oil burning issues from the year 07 up. I know people who've gotten rid of theirs just cause they were tired of topping off oil every week. Other than that, quite a little powerhouse of a motor with plenty of torque to have fun with.
It would’ve been cool for you guys to be able to add specific models that are the exception of the list, specifically models that offer alternative transmissions/engine options that could potentially make the car listed more reliable. Like the Nissan juke is definitely not the best, but you can at least get a NISMO model with a six speed gearbox, which is leaps and bounds better than a CVT.
For the Countryman it is actually a pretty solid car as long as you maintain the proper maintenance for it and get a model thats ATLEAST 2013. The 2011 and 2012 do run into issues...
I always see people say this about bmws. And I have to ask, what exactly is improper maintenance? Not going on for service when the dealer/shop recommends?
@@Skizzy461 basically, we own both a BMW 2 series and mini cooper, 2016 and 2017. Never had any mayor issues... So yeah I really think people skip on changing fluids or make parts break due to improper driving cant really blame the cars that much

typical YT baiting. put a focus RS in your headline and never relate it to your sensational headline. totally destroys your credibility. 90K on my 2016 RS daily driver. it is a dream car under $40K new. resale is around $30k now 6 years later. every car has issues. some deserve to be called a lemon. not the RS.
One more thing I have to add- my buddy does a LOT engine outs on lifted Jeep Wranglers with the huge wheel/tire package. It seems the light duty minivan engines can't handle truck running gear.
Meanwhile in the UK. The fiesta is the best selling car. And reliability is good. Because we still buy manual (as you call it stick shift) gearboxes. Though we do have problems with early engine failure. Alot on (and no surprise) Ecoboost engines. Especially fire related issues.
My friend has a Dart. 30k miles and it has a stuttering issue the dealership cant fix. Now it's junk and he is looking to sell it. I had a Fiesta ST. The ST version of the Focus and Fiesta are much better than the standard with the automatic transmission.

I'll throw my had in the ring on the Suburban. The AFM system on my 2019 died, bent a pushrod and had to have the heads removed to replace a lifter on one of the cylinders that deactivate. This design flaw can happen again and again if the factory replaces it since this parts are all junk. There's kits to take it out altogether though, but it's heads off and cam out to do that. When I researched this on the 5.3 engine on youtube, scores of videos came up with this. It's a shame because I have had small block Chevys for over 30 years and still have 2 old Corvettes that are going strong on the original build over 30 years ago. My 2019 lasted 2 years.
My wife’s Ford Fiesta was decent. But we let it go because the transmission needed to be rebuilt, the ecm was going out (speakers would pop and crack even if the stereo was off.) and a few other problems

I own a 2000 grand cherokee 4.0 selec trac with 223k miles on it and last year I had to put a new water pump and thats all, this year I've had to do shocks and breaks. In my opinion its a amazing vehicle and its easy to work on

I’m surprised to not see the CVT version of the Nissan Versa. People often don’t realize that many models of it come with three choices of transmission, Standard, CVT and Automatic. I have the automatic and it serves me well as a delivery and daily driver. I’m always making three point turns to get out of small streets so I make sure to check the transmission fluid frequently. It’s a bit underpowered and has a rough ride quality but those can be modified.
had a 2009 mini. bought it at 80,000 miles and was running great. i only had it for two years when it hit 100k miles and completely exploded. fun to drive, but overall cheaply made. never getting a mini again

I don’t know whats ur basis about certain cars on the list. But hey, that’s ur list and i respect that. I have a 2016 mirage hatchback and almost 6 yrs i don’t have any problem whatsoever. I don’t have an issue about the low hp of the car, but i bought it because of it’s efficient fuel consumption.
The Ford Focus ST and Fiesta ST are actually some of the most mechanically sound Ford's I've seen...or better yet...have barely ever seen come in for something more than just a service. The non ST models with DPS6 issues and early RS models with head gasket recalls are to blame with bringing down the reliability aspect of the Focus and Fiesta entirely. Just wish he excluded the ST models from the list like he did with the trackhawk along with showing rolling shots of DPS6 equipped cars but I guess there would be a lot less rolling shots of those lol. The SYNC entertainment systems are a different story....
Hard to believe that Wrangler could be in the list of "no buy". The Pentastar v6 engine since 2011 found in base Chargers and Challengers and in many other Chrysler cars, and it lack of major issues. What else could be wrong in Wrangler, except being not very comfortable for tall driver?
They're good cars if you pamper them. I have a 2007 Mini cooper r56 and I haven't had any major issues (yet). It got into an accident yesterday so hopefully it doesn't go to shit

Yeah I guess he’s talking about the base model cars and just used the st because it looked better. As far as I know the problems he stated with the focus are only with the se
from what I'm aware of the manual is fine, I guess the video is more so for mainstream consumers who don't want a manual
I have a 2020 st thankfully 0 problems to report for now
Though he showed video of the ST and RS, I think he was specifically talking about the base models of the Focus / Fiesta (I had a Focus myself and the transmission shit out at 13k miles).
I don't think he was talking about the vq one, they meant the 3.0 and the 2.0 turbo ones, and they are bad with gas mileage and handle horrible..
@@firstlast7584 my shit ain’t unreliable dude… the people that post that shit are the dummy’s that slap a jb4 on their car without getting proper coolant to the motor instead of getting a tune and an ams intercooler. My car is more reliable than it was from the factory. 95% of Japanese vehicles are extremely reliable if taken care of properly.

Why would I want a q50 if I can get something with better mpg, handling, price and performance?
I'm glad the '07 Tahoe missed this list. I did have two issues that popped up, but they were rectified. They rear window defroster blew up and the main control box went out two times each.

BMW hasn’t had a great track record with their v8 cars, and suv (x5 comes to mind the most) especially the twin turbo v8. Toyota has had a few mishaps in recent years with reliability which sucks because that’s what they’re known for.

Coolant radiator oxygen sensors turbo all died on me
I'll throw my had in the ring on the Suburban.
For Nissan instead of calling there SUV Juke they should call it Junk with all the problems that SUV have.
They can call it puke also (do you get like juke puke)
