Ehhhh… Some folks will for sure find it useful, like if they do a lot of towing or live in Wyoming. I think by the time these hit the streets, with a NACS charging port (and presumably access to Tesla's network), and the number of charging stations built out by then, most folks won't even bother with the PHEV version.
The bench seats are awesome, for sure! But I'm wondering if there's an airbag for that middle occupant or where it would come from since there's a big infotainment screen there.
As an early Cybertruck reservation rejector, I have been looking at alternatives to that refrigerator on wheels and this had me with the looks, name, specs and price. Made an immediate reservation and barring some really bad news, it will likely be my next and perhaps last vehicle purchase. I had an International Travelall back in the 1960's and it was a great and reliable hauler of stuff. I'm a fan of the brand and can't wait for actual order and delivery.

Plus the years of delays, less range and price hike (forgot how much more they wanted) turned me off to Tesla all together! Crossing my finger for this one (last vehicle for me too).
The family that ran the dairy across the road where I live owned a Scout International truck. They hauled equipment trailers, shovels, tools, pitchforks and all sorts of stuff on the dash. Receipts from the vet, nuts and bolts 🔩, gloves and lots of dust and hay. It always had a trail of blue smoke and no muffler. I wish the company well!
The SUV version is a home run with its exterior styling, I had a scout back in 74, it was great off road, but very basic vehicle, this new version is plush
My enthusiastic interest in the Scout coming back to the road was squashed by it being an electric vehicle. Sad, they had a good audience for a true durable Scout with a gas powered engine instead of an electric or hybrid.
The bronco truck appears to be a piece of crap problematic thing even after the redo of it. How many people with experience of soft tops or removable hard tops don't actually want to have anything to do with them. They want a nice clean proper non-removable hardtop that is dust-tight watertight weather resistant and clean. Most people never want to have the roof off except for maybe one or two trees for the novelty and then it's like screw it

I was excited until I found out it was electric. But PLEASE make one that is NOT electric. This is like taking a dump on the original. Gas is still KING.
Love the boxy SUV design! I would NOT opt for a glass roof or leather seats. Regarding the rear hatch, I find that a rear-mounted tire often requires a swing door. I’d prefer if the tire were mounted underneath, allowing the rear hatch to open upwards and out of the way. Overall, a handsome SUV-very reminiscent of the Rivian R1S.
I love these. The design inside and out and if they get the range and price right, they have a hit on their hands. These products show that VW is tired of losing in the US market.

I think this is a question I hope VW answers in its planning. Does the motor warm up the cold battery during winter, or does it heat the vehicle when remotely started? If the motor can be removed, what is its purpose? If it's a stand-alone generator, how does it offset the weight of the motor, like a mini crane? Can the motor serve other purposes, and is its cooling, exhaust, and fuel system self-contained or adaptable for different fuels? If the motor I’d like to know if it's possible to increase voltage output in a vehicle. I’d love to hear people's thoughts on this. If it is regularly removed, can the case have a protected shell so that in transport, it is not damaged?
Definitely looks like re-skinned R1T and R1S, but in a good way. And those interiors are gorgeous!! The harvester range extender is going to be a game changer, too. I've been a truck guy all my life. I've been wanting to get a truck EV, but Rivian is too expensive, and the others are both too expensive and have design flaws I couldn't bring myself to live with. I really, REALLY hope these Scouts are as good in production as they look on the screen right now, and that they keep to the teased price points (unlike Cybertruck - teased $40K, actual $100K).
Was so excited when I heard the news. Did some research, much to my surprise I was highly disappointed and feel like this is a huge disgrace to the name Scout. Why go electric?
The gas powered engine to provide electricity for the electric motors is interesting. But after you've gone your 350 me or whatever and can't charge anymore I wonder how long/how far you can really drive for just off electrical generation from the gas engine and at what speed🤔
I'm shopping this week for a new truck. I was temporarily excited about the prospect of this vehicle and willing to wait to purchase a new vehicle and drive my Silverado a few more years. Until... Electric. Nope. I'll wait to see how the range extender version works out. But 2024 Silverado it is.
@@downix No. I don’t want an gas generator hooked to some batteries and an electric motor. I want a gas engine that goes through an actual transmission (auto or manual) through actual differentials to actual axles like a traditional ICE car.
