Same here, used to ride sportbikes. Took a break from riding until my kids got older and now I ride a sportster. I like the nimble handling and it has plenty of power for cruising. I have flared out slip ons and to me sound real good.
I love my Sportster and my road king. Just wish they could make better suspension for the Sportster without lifting it a couple inches. I like the way mine sits but man is it rough on the bumpier highways.
I've got an 08 with stock pipes on it, and while I love it, I do recognize that it's not nearly as loud as it should be, and I've had a few people try to come over into my lane not realizing I was there. I love the sound of these pipes.
I got an 05 which I love. It's doing some funny things at the moment like very loud "farts" when it's hot when I'm idling at traffic lights. I got to keep revving continually (all the while exploding, coughing and farting like nothing else), almost stalling. I think it's running on one cylinder at times. Anyway, cool bike, very agile as you said. Love it.
I got a 1200 custom also. And they are great bikes. Mine is a 04 also and to me they look better than any Harley made. I've had a Road King and a Dyna and I would trade my Sportster for either one back. That's a Very nice bike you got there. I'm glad you like it. Best bike for the money than any other bike on the road.

YUP, Sporty's R a fun bike, got a 91 Sporty1200 pretty much rebuilt from bottom to top and thinking how good it could sound w/ no baffles. When the WideGlide is out of warranty, I'll get the baffles taken out of her as well. Ray in St.Pete.
perhaps a daft question but how did you get it so clean (no wires showing) around the top and rear of the engine? I have a 2007 custom and its messy as hell in comparison.
I am getting mixed reviews..I have a 09 sporty custom..I put a set of drags on it with out the o2 sensor run off .Just straight pipes..I do notice a little power gets taken away at mid range...I called a few shops and they say no I should not be running these pipes ...what is your take

I drove up to Michigan and bought a set that is similar but one pipe is longer than the other and my thoughts were I may be able to get a muffler place to cut and roll.thw end perhaps. Bad thing.was it was craigs list and his.pictures were better than the actual pipes and when I got there hours later I was.bummed to see he laid them down on the lower pipe...lying asshat! I feel he misrepresented that garbage and he saw my disappointment and realized I wasn't happy I wasted time and drove all that way and wasn't going.to buy his trash. So he goes, yea that is worse looking than o remember, tell you what...you can just have them if.you still want them. Smh...so I took them and hope to find a custom shop make some like it to.the.length of those.hookers and I will powder coat, wrap and make some lollipop baffles and be done with it. Still want those awesome hookers.for.a 2003 1200 Hugger if anyone has some and is reading lol...longshot.i know.

My 883 has 2 inch pipes, no baffles. My neighbors hear it inside there house on the other end of the street =)
