The 2004-2006 XL1200c sportsters come from the factory with Buell heads, 512 cam, and bee hive springs making 80-90hp and 80 ft lbs. Decently fast and fun. Handling is great until you get over 100 mph which comes up fast for sure. Stopping is good but requires effort. My only complaint is in the high speed handling. Wobble/tank slapper requiring you to get over the tank to control it. I have changed my front spring rate and made sure the loaded ride height is with in spec. Below 90mph and canyon carving this bike excels! Get used to grinding pegs and boot heels!! :)

Mine is an 04 1200. I set mine up like a semi bobber. I did about 75-80mph to Ocean City about 1.5 -2hr trip.

Those higher bars leave the cables hanging right in your view. I actually like the standard bars.

These were definitely more on the extreme side!

The 1200 motor doesn't have shit to do with the fuel tank. That large tank is on the Custom model and the 883 version also has it.

Sweet, i have Burly 16" apes and a Saddlemen step up seat on my 2008 Anniversary edition 1200l.
Its my 9th HD..2 softails, 2 ultas, a RK, 2 Limiteds, and 2 Sportys... this is by far my favorite bike in 44 years of being on 2 wheels on the streets. I'm 6'4", so the bars and forwards are a must for me on all my bikes.

People who own sportsers don't necessarily care about having 0nly 100 to 200 miles at a time. It's a rip around town and have fun kinda vibe.

Mine is an 05 and it gets 40 to 50 depending on how fast you want to go. Change out that riveted clutch plate. I did mine. It was beginning to explode.
