  • Authorities say newly released bodycam footage allegedly shows the moments leading up to a 14-year-old shooting a police officer in December 2021. The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department said officers responded to a 911 call about car break-ins at an apartment complex before pursuing the boy in a foot chase. Police said the minor allegedly shot Officer Elliot Whitley during the foot chase. The boy, whose name has not been released, was charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury and is still in custody.

That's attempted murder! Not freaking assault!! Let me be more specific- help those struggling with the different state law criminal statutes. Aggravated Assault with deadly weapon against a public servant is an enhanced charge, which also includes all lesser offenses for the judge to consider upon verdict OR to give the options for the jury to select from when deliberating on what charge to convict the defendant. A lesser but included charge may be easier to "prove" or "consider", but the highest charge should be issued to the Grand Jury and after the indictment of the highest charge, the remaining process is left to Prosecutor's ability to prove beyond a reasonable doubt the defendant is guilty of the highest charge, the judge or jury to decide to convict on the highest charge or any lesser included charge or acquittal if Prosecutor sucks

He is not a 14yr old boy , when you commit a crime and point a gun at a civilian or an officer he became an adult . When you make adult decisions you pay adult prices .

Considering there's no justification for that claim, care to provide something that says pointing something made of metal at another person means that you're an adult?

I'm surprised he didn't get killed. And surprised that no one else got shot too, knowing the outcome of the criminal after the shooting.

Add a tempted murder to the boys resume. Maybe the next judge will
Award him with a new car to keep him from carjacking!
