Never done it but looks like to completely remove it you have to remove the dash fasteners on that side to get access behind it. (If that won't work without damaging it you'll have to remove that whole top dash piece. Here's a starting idea on it: drive.google.com/file/d/12WP4S6QWOJOZCQ5TNR5qKScqTlA-ieql/view?usp=drivesdk You'll need plastic trim tools like these too: amzn.to/3nkBnT1
My vent fell into the dash in my 2016 Charger. The chrome bezel stayed attached to the dash, and I could not line up the vent to get the corners into place. I picked up the set of picks which were A LIFE SAVER, and the motion that worked for me was to tilt the top of the vent back, and lift the bottom up high enough to see the bottom tab, pull it toward the bezel, then pop it down while using another pick to pull the top toward me. Everything sorta just clicked into place on the sides and it was in with no hoopla. I was so nervous to touch it, but it's in and holding steady. NO MORE PHONE HOLDERS LOL! Thank you for the idea of using the picks! I was in a panic thinking I'd have to dismantle my whole dash.
This just happened to me this morning on my 2016 Charger! I will be trying it tomorrow, since the dealership quoted me $295 to fix it and they will be taking the dash apart!
Yooooo, I've been riding my 2016 with a pushed-in vent for the past year and refused to pay the dealer to fix it. His video and pick recommendation along with your detailed way of getting it in specifically for the 2016...AND my chrome bezel stayed attached just like yours?! Bro, life saver!!! Buying the picks now and will try your method as soon as they arrive! Thanks!
To save your $8 or if you're impatient like myself, I used an allen wrench that was lying around in my garage. With a little finesse I manage to pop it back in. Great video though. I didn't expect there would be one for this issue. #ftw Thanks!!
Thank you for that. I didnt have a pick tool so what i did, I detached the front vent and put finger around the rear vents and pulled it to perfect place and then attached the front vents 😅
Good idea man thanks. I was using my fingers, and ended up breaking the chrome bezzle and pulling those damn fins out. lol. Thought I might have to pull apart the entire dash for this. Good thing the bezzle was just $8.
Btw I mentioned using a glue. Super-glue is not a good idea because it will dry out the plastic on the fins. This will reduce the life of the plastic and possibly cause breakage soon after. Glues without harsh petroleum chemicals are the way to go or just leave it raw like I did.
If you can still see the fin then try a telescopic magnetic pickup tool but with duct tape on the end to stick to the fin. A glob on hot glue might work too if you're fast.
Only problem is that, those items wouldn't work in my case because the plastic chrome outline part broke. I would've just super glued it back together and then used the tools to pop it back on like you did but I'm forced to have the shop fix it because someone mentioned something that super glue does something bad to the plastic and makes it fall apart overtime. I don't know if that's true but I definitely don't want that to happen so I'm not going to super glue it. I'm under the impression that the vent is supposed to be connected to the plastic chrome outline piece. I don't know if it comes separate or it comes attached. Mine is detached from the actual vent and broken in just one area. It still has it's form it's just broken to where you wouldn't know its broken unless you bend it a little then you will see. Definitely would've been a super glue kind of fix if the cons weren't so bad. Therefore I may need to order it so that it's connected already. I hate going to the shop for small repairs like this. 😣
Sorry didn't see this til now. The petroleum distillates in super glue will degrade the oils in the plastic so you either have to use glues without them or plastic weld the piece. The chrome piece is separate but they both snap into the dash through a notch in the bottom right and top left corner. The chrome is decorate but the spacing of it might effect the actual vent housing snapping in place. I'm pretty sure it still would be fine without the chrome piece there.
Do you know how to remove the far right passenger vent ?

6 year old video and it still comes in clutch! Thank you!
I just did the exact same thing that caused my vent to detach 2 minutes ago lol. Thank God you made a video🙏🏼
You're very welcome. Thanks for venting your comment. :)

Glad to hear it worked. Thank you for the detailed comment.
Thanks lilbambella, your instructions worked for me perfectly, any other motions wouldn't work, was about to give up😎👍

THANK YOU SO MUCH!! Took a little wiggling but it worked perfectly 5min tops. Even got a similar tool kit from Amazon.
I used a #3 Allen wrench this morning and it worked too
Great tip. Worked for me too!

Thanks for the workaround tip. A hook and pick set is a useful addition to a tool set though. Thanks for the comment and for watching.

Perfect. Worked great for my 2022 Charger as well. Thanks for the video.

Lbeats • Happy to hear it. Thanks for watching.
Where can I buy a pick like that?
These are good and Made in the USA. They'll come in handy many times. amzn.to/41144CC
Wow. Great video!
About how much would a repair shop would have charged someone for this?
Thank you. I'm not sure on that.. Depends on the integrity of the mechanic. My guess from an honest mechanic should be around $30.
Interesting. 👍
Dealer charges $300...private mechanic probably like $150-200
Omg yes that happened to me !!!
My secondary fins behind the first set fell out of place. How do I re attach those?
Maybe needlenose pliers and a pick together. Sounds tough but doable.
Thank you literally just happened to me but one of the fins fell down so I need to figure out if I’m going to get that 😂😂

Mine broke while trying to remove the phone holder
Mine broke tryna put one on lmao..
Mann idk what to do. Mine is pushed back I can't seem to get it back to normal
Sounds like you need a good hook tool set.
Here's some options:
1. amzn.to/35QXwjh
2. amzn.to/3KnsAGh
Mine did that to :(
Someone help me 😭 I can’t fix mine
You might need to buy some hook tools to make it easier.
I took my vents all the way out
🤔
