I will never understand how Mariska didn't win another Emmy after her phenomenal acting throughout the Lewis Arc.
I agree
I don't get it. Even if Olivia HAD killed the guy, why would she be in trouble for it? He'd kidnapped her and a little girl and had deliberately put but of them in mortal danger. If she had killed him, wouldn't her actions be considered as justifiable by any reasonable person?
It’s politics and history. While what we saw would have been justified what has happened between the two on paper paints a different picture. Add on the checks and balances for cops in the show and it makes it all the more messier
It wouldn't have happened if Bronwyn Freed hadn't helped him get out of prison in the first place. She should've been hung out to dry after William's death, but no one wanted to open up the can of worms at Rikers, so Barba couldn't charge her. Which then led to her helping two more serial killers (Carl Rudnick and Gregory Yates) escape from Green Haven Correctional Facility.
Plus there was the issue of Green Haven operating at a State level, whereas Rikers operates at city level. So even if Bronwyn had been flagged at Rikers for her part in aiding Lewis's escape, the staff at Green Haven wouldn't have known about it due to a lack of communication between the two institutions. And of course in another cruel twist of fate, Rita ends up defending Doctor Rudnick prior to his incarceration at Green Haven.
Politics keep trying to make particular police officers look like the bad guys. This is why the police are often painted in shades of red.
If you noticed Tucker's questions, he asked why she went without back-up. That's why IAB is looking into this situation.
@@tmm6884 I must have missed that part.
William Lewis was my favorite villain in all of the crime shows I watch. He was truly terrifying and equally interesting. Plus the actor who portrayed him did such a phenomenal job and his chemistry with Mariska was unmatched.
and that other psycho that kept escaping was interesting too, I forgot his name but he ended up representing himself in court. both were something else lol
@@sophiedoeeee The one who was a cross dresser.
Basically, Lewis wanted Liv to be in the hot seat for his death. & the fact that he’s still talked about to this day is also what he wanted
Til this day???? It’s a tv show pal.

@@BioGoji-zm5phunknown subject
He kind of reminds me of George Foyet. Maybe due to how many episodes he was in and targeting one of the main characters.
SO TRUE
William Lewis was by far the most formidable and intriguing villain that the team's ever gone up against. He's certainly the first one to truly terrify Liv since she was assaulted when she went undercover in the prison. The actor who played him definitely earned his flowers, not to mention paycheck, for portraying the character in such an amazingly terrifying way.
Honestly, any regular cop would already have a multi-million-dollar workplace hazard case for psychiatric injury through workers comp after something like this.
And what's real sad, the cop would retire after the major mental damage from the case.
Maybe not multi-million. But, they would get a settlement and immediate retirement with a full pension.
The actor playing William Lewis was really good; he really played a character that was so despicable and someone you want to kill so badly. He really put a lot effort into character.
Why does it fucking matter!? He had he hostage! It would’ve been self defense if she did.
because some scumbag lawyer/prosecutor could say that she had the gun, "he was no longer a danger" and she shot and unarmed man. Gives the perp's family an in for suing the department. doesn't matter how bad the criminal was or what they were doing up to the point were the tables are turned.
no different than if someone breaks into your home with a gun, shoots at you, you shoot back, they retreat but you are still firing. If you happen to hit/kill them, they (prosecutor) could go after you for murder, even though the dead guy is the criminal. To them (because how the laws are written) once they are no longer a viable threat self defense goes out the window and it is now murder/manslaughter.
@@kdtfiles1sorry but at that close of range he’s still a threat.
@@jlkkauffman7942 you and I both know that, and there was also a second gun, my point is that they would still try and argue that he was "unarmed" at the moment she decided to "murder, as revenge" and they could try and use the "he was unarmed" defense.
@@kdtfiles1
Unarmed or not, the dude is a criminal who broke out of prison. In fact, any reasonable judge and jury would see that as justified. There's no "but he was unarmed" defense. Just because he gets unarmed does not mean he posed no threat. The fact that you're defending that point of view is kinda embarrassing.
@@JameyMcQueen I wasn't defending anything, I only wrote that they ("some scumbag lawyer/prosecutor....") could try and use it as a defense, and in the real world they use it all the time, thus the use of the word "scumbag". You say that any "reasonable judge and jury would see it as justified"... maybe they would, maybe they wouldn't. We all know that in THE REAL WORLD based on how the laws are written, judges / prosecutor could and do often go after defendants to set examples of them, even if their actions WERE justifiable/reasonable in their situations. If I actually would have said anything about DEFENDING anyone in the situation (in the episode) it WOULD HAVE BEEN OLIVIA, not the criminal. But you go ahead and accuse me of saying something I didn't, because clearly your opinion on what I wrote is stronger than your reading comprehension.
Wouldn't testing for gunshot residue on Lewis' left hand prove that Liv was telling the truth? I'm not a forensics expert but that sounds like a pretty solid case to me
I don’t think it was that simple since both their DNA was on the gun
@@joewhitehead3 but she wouldnt have powder residue on her hand, ur point means nothing
6:10 the doctor mentioned they have gsr (gun shot residue) on both of them
@@trh-bee4383 Lewis won the game.
depending on how close they were, gsr would be on both. with as close as they looked the amount of gsr would be nearly the same, the further away they are the less there would be on the one not firing the gun.
Mariska’s performance was scarily believable.
Honest William Lewis was a terrifying villain and definitely had his good and bad moments with Sgt Benson with definitely give his saga some serious moments
Lewis was the most evil monster that haunts Liv to this day. Even when Noah googled his mom, the first name he saw was Lewis’s name. Can you imagine after all that time and he still haunts Liv and her family and friends.
And where the hell was Stabler when Liv was going through this ordeal? I get that it was BTS production stuff, but not even a text from El checking in on Liv? The worst part is that they cross paths again only after Kathy dies.
Damm Master Chief is sick for playing that game with her
Liv was never the same after this.
And yet Stabler didn't check up on her at all. It was only when Kathy died that they ended up in each other's lives again.
Never 😢
Liv should of retired... I don't know why
The way IAB handled this was always weird to me. I mean obviously everyone knows it would be a cut and dry situation if she just said she shot him. The fact that she’s choosing to stick with her story as opposed to taking the easy way out would make her story more believable to me. I mean I get their job is to be skeptical about everything but this was a weird situation to me. But I’m know expert😂
Literally and they all know how manipulative he is, he’s a literal psychopath and they know he targeted Olivia haha it’s so weird they wouldn’t believe her
@@guyrose2350 exactly! And I mean sure it could be a trick by IAB to say that they are ok with her killing him and Olivia probably would’ve known they’d be fine with it, but regardless, like you said, they know he’s a psychopath and she would’ve been completely justified killing him too, this whole thing with IAB just confused me.
@@trehansley4542 just because iab is ok with it on a personal level does not make it legal
confess to this crime its ok
@@cjvisser-johnston3969 obviously, but at the same time given the circumstances and everything that transpire, it feels like they were just as willing to write that one off and classify it as a justified killing. The point I was making was that I don’t think anyone would’ve blamed her for killing him. Was it legal? Obviously not, but I highly doubt there would be many people against the idea of her killing him given the amount of people he tortured, hurt, and even killed. He was ready to sexually assault her or a random girl. Sure, it is IAB’s job to be skeptical, but at the same time, given the circumstances I think they were ready to write it off as a justified kill and be done with him. The fact that Olivia said something completely different and they didn’t believe her after her not taking the easy route was always weird to me. Again, I get IAB has to be thorough and skeptical but that’s just me.

Such a thrilling saga thanks to a villain who did his job perfectly at freaking me out. I remember watching this episode when you had no idea how Lewis died, either by himself or Benson. At the end, though, there will NEVER be a SVU (or TV) villiain like him again.
I thought he got shot by a cop sniper.
What I was upset about was that Stabler never checked up on Liv after this ordeal.
Me too @@lukerosales5879
My thing was, couldn’t ballistics have testified that Liv (being handcuffed and taped to the table) would have had to jack-knife/extend her arm unreasonably far to reach his left temple? They could have proven the exact trajectory of the bullet AND the gunpowder residue on his left hand? Yes, the ME would have had little to go off of, but wasn’t the whole scene being investigated as well? Also, from IAB’s standpoint, why tf would Lewis give Liv the gun on the last round when they both know the last chamber had the bullet? It was his game all along, so he knew if he did that she could have killed him and ended it, but he was trying to make her look sketchy. I never understood this. I mean, even in older episodes, they’d have animated play by play of the scene as it happened, or someone there to explain blood splatter, which also may have helped Liv’s case too. Were they all on vacation, or?…
The advantage psychopaths have over other people is they can think outside the box. They know the game. they know the rules. They know we often don't know them.
So they can play with us. And usually win.
Is no one going to talk about how Lewis' left thumb print is on the trigger? Wouldn't that prove he shot himself with his left hand since everybody uses their pointer finger? I'm no forensic expert but I'm pretty sure the finger prints would have proved he shot himself. On top of that wouldn't the blood splatters be different if she had grabbed the gun and shot him? Would their initial body positions have clued them in that there was no struggle for the gun? I feel like there is enough evidence to prove she's telling the truth but again I'm no expert and I don't know much about this stuff.
He burned his fingerprints off I believe

Such a great actress
Defense or self-defense is not a crime.
Context is everything and the Devil is in the details.
not in the eyes of the law tho... there is a fine line from where it can go from defense/self-defense to battery/assault.
Two people are in a fight (physical) person A is the aggressor, person B was jumped. At some point person A is now on the ground and isn't trying to get back up, he knows he lost/is beaten to the point he can't get back up (maybe even unconscious). Legally speaking regardless of how bad he beat person A, person B is most likely justified in self defense.... Until, he decides to get in a couple extra kicks for good measure... now (again in the eyes of the law) person B can be charged with battery, as it went from self-defense to battery/assault because person A was no longer a threat to person B - especially if the person was unconscious and couldn't defend themself...

A guy murders a guy, but drops the gun. A bystander picks up the gun and kills the original shooter. You think that the bystander is guilty of murder, but in fact probably saved more lives than his own. You're garbage for defending an evil man.
