Finn: Hey, don't look at me, I just know stuff.
Everyone else: *side-eye intensifies* 🤣🤣
Finn son is gay I mean………
Honestly my favorite part because he learned all this from being undercover which is my favorite ongoing joke on this show 😂
My favorite Finn line of all time 😂
I laughed when Finn said that. So, what else do you know about Finn?
@@armanisumter1225 yup, his son is an awesome character that I wish was in the series more. There dynamic is so good.
"Don't look at me, I just know stuff!" 😂😂😂😂
Lol
being the knowledgeable person in a group is not always the best

When the lawyer started mirandizing himself 😂😂😂
Man that just hits different. Started laughing hysterically
"i got news for ya. that means your gay" is such a funny line.
7:33 the meme was born. Who better than Ice-T to say "I got news for you....THAT MEANS YA GAY!"
No joke, this is one of the all time greatest segments in TV history.
Except that bi people exists
This whole episode is based.
The new "here's your sign"
The smirks and side eyes to Fin is hilarious 😂
I think it was before they introduced his son who is gay. Most likely that’s who Fin heard it from.
@@antmagoractually it was after. He finds out his son was gay in season 7. This season 5. But the downlow is real. Been talked about since the late 90’s
I remember this episode. The subject of closeted men having slip ups of "Lowdown" meetings is pretty real, and Fin's explanation of it sounds all too familiar among a majority of men who have told their stories.
Finn making bonds arcana to the max
I think people keep forgetting his son is a gay man and he might have knowledge through his son
@@lesleyfuentes1452Fin doesn't find that out until at least season 7
@@lesleyfuentes1452 He didn't know that yet. He likely has knowledge from either being on the force with the DEA (Down Low gay men and drugs went hand-in-hand back then) or from simply being a black man growing up in NYC and hearing rumors and gossip about it.
How much y'all wanna bet people won't help him because they'll think it's better of he a cake... 🤦🏾♂️
They were sus of Fin for a second 😂
The looks they were giving him…like what type of time you on 😂😂😂

I don't see how SVU is still on the air. It has NEVER EVER been as good as the original LAW And ORDER
Or bi. That’s also an option
Nope they got it right.
@@Skeletongunz992Biphobia is a bad look, m'kay?
@@odinfromcentr2 not according to God ok.
not.
It was the early 2000’s, writers were still trying to get the hang of depicting gay people with nuance. The idea of bisexuality probably would have caused their heads to explode 😂
This episode was so sad, I don't care who sleeps with whom in their personal life; but if you're sleeping with both sexes simultaneously, be honest with people. Give them a choice! Michael Beachs (phenomenal actor) character infects his wife with HIV as a result of his deceit.
In it's prime, 'Law & Order SVU' was such a hard hitting show, part of such a ground breaking franchise that has never shyed away from tackling hard hitting issues with such talented actors, writers etc, that has and continues to enthral and entertain so many as its done for decades.
Not to mention the iconic opening monologue. Classic.
Im gonna assume you dont know what its like to be queer. Coming out to certain people can be a death sentence, especially back when this episode was out. You tell one person 10 other find out and they tell everyone else. Also her getting HIV wasnt a result of his deceit of his sexuality, straight men also get HIV from cheating or drinking after someone else.
@@Feedback72I agree with a lot of what you've said. But I'm not aware of any evidence of transmission occurring after drinking from a HIV positive peron's cup?
@@Feedback72same rule applies. Whether he says it was with a man or hides it, fact is he was sleeping with more than one person
@@Feedback72 using a condom with his affair partners would not have been a death sentence. Telling his wife that he had an affair and his affair partner had HIV would not have been a death sentence (he didn’t need to disclose who the affair partner was). Not getting married in the first place and having kids and pulling innocent parties into his mess would not have been a death sentence.
I understand that be LGBTQ has historically been dangerous for a lot of demographics, but there were a 100 ways he could have handled his romantic life and he chose the one that hurt everyone to the maximum.
@@Feedback72 the person still has a right to know. Just like that person is struggling, you also are lying to another person to save your own skin. No matter how you try to slice it, that’s wrong. You want someone into only empathize with someone who is lgbtq but not someone else who’s in the dark and being lied too. That’s messed up and selfish af

It's his subtle way of saying "Yeah this is a Black thing"😅😅
@@Filmation77 He's so cool.
@@Filmation77yes closeted gay men only exist in the black community. He wasn’t saying it’s a black thing only speaking on the experience he knows as a black man. The fact that you got it’s a black thing out of what he was saying is crazy it’s literally not it’s just the DL lifestyle only shows black men.
“The down low”
“The what?” 💀
7:34 this is the funniest tv moment I have ever seen in my entire life
😂
the funniest part is even he didn't believe what he said.
The music and reaction it was sells it for me 😂
Add the Gutts theme, and it's even funnier.
Finn's "don't look at me. I just know stuff" had me ROLLINGGGGGG🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
The way everyone looked at Finn was priceless 😂
This episode aired a few months after the New York Times ran an article in the Sunday magazine about black men on the down low (in August of 2003).
All of the shows' episodes deal with newspaper articles, or what was aired on the news
Ripped From the headlines
Apparently, the article focused on the book “On the DL”, which had been released earlier that year. The author was also on “Oprah” that year.
And also after Oprah did a show about it. Funny how down low only referred to black men.
@@christopherroyal7939well most black men and black people in general view it as a White man's Perversion as a way of the Devil, and yeah white people and Latinos do it too, but black people put way more emphasis on it, I mean look at Katt Williams anyone with eyes knows black woman energy when they see it, so yeah black men spend way more time trying to discredit it than any other group
"Don't look at me. I just know stuff."

I wonder why, Fin.
Michael Beach one of the most underrated actors
Salute
The Hispanic and black commnity has a real issue when it comes to LGBTQ people in their community. The stigma around it. It doesn't make you any less of a man to love who you love. It makes you more of man to stand up for who you truly are.
you have to stop including homosexuals in LGBT and start accepting individuality as I refuse LGBT and I want my own homosexual biological male specific DNA and separation , if you try to include me then I exclude myself from the group's which behave suspiciously
Hispanic isn’t a race I’m white of German ancestry I’m from Argentine
FACTS
Yeah. It’s like they learned all the homophobia from white people and then lagged down on learning that it’s dumb. Why is it that minorities in general are more conservative on social issues? Poverty? Closer knit communities? Lack of representation in gay media?
It's quickly improving, especially in big cities. More and more out and proud with great strength of character in the Black and Latino communities these days.
“They on the down low”💀
6:46 Finn just knows stuff
Can everyone please remember that this episode is 2 decades old? SVU was big on shining lights on issues that other shows were afraid to bring up and in some cases they fumbled in how they wrote them, or just had to dumb them down for an audience that wasn't familiar with the LGBTQ community.
Horribly simplistic explanation of men’s sexual identity which is way more nuanced than gay/bi/straight, and quite judgemental - although given its vintage not unexpected.
yes ppl ain't understand then nor now
Yes! That’s what people forget! Honestly, SVU did a pretty good job introducing LGBT issues during the times
Who cares
@@kayvictoria7250you, cause you responded.
Will never forget this episode. WELL acted and NEEDED, with so many men (especially black men) out here having unprotected sexual relationships with other men, becoming HIV infected, then infecting their wives or SOs. Michael Beach and Bethany Butler who played his wife - Awesome performances!
We don't call it on the "downlow" anymore. We call it getting Diddied
Them later giving him a gay black son is hilarious story writing 🙅🏿♂️🧢😭
The Rookie 😩😂😭

Great show!!
LOL @ "Don't look at me. I just know stuff"
Keep telling yourself that lol.
😂
Given that it could (and in this case, _does_ ) become quite relevant at work, I would say it's his business to know these things.
I mean, "knowing stuff" is basically Ice T's job description in Law and Order. People are talking about the other meme, but it's the platonic ideal of the "It's called [thing]. [Group] does it and it's [multiple activities]." meme.
@@odinfromcentr2 Oh I get that. But sometimes the squad can be a little oblivious to common knowledge trends. It's happened on a few occasions.

Change the title to “Closeted gay murder ring” The whole reason that Michael Beach’s character killed York was because Beach’s character had a family and kids and York wanted him to leave his wife and kids to be in a relationship with York. ppl really forget bisexuality is a thing tbh, i do like how this ep brings out how homophobic and heteronormativity ran rampant in the black community because this is pretty accurate ....dl black men feel in anger when others could potentially find out and can assault others to keep it safe... not everyone yes but this is very real.
