What will end this game real fast us if Iowa goes 3 and out constantly like they did against Penn St. Yes this defense is phenomenal. But when your offense can't give your defense time to rest between series for more than 3-5 minutes total. Its going to tire the defense out real quick. Iowa's defense was completely gassed by halftime. They were on the field for almost a quarter and a half in the first half of that game.
The big 10 has the 4 best scoring defenses in the country. While I do think all 4 are legit, it really brings into question the quality of offenses they’re going against
You also have to question the defenses in other conferences where teams only ever score 30 or 40+ Apples and Oranges, wins are the only stat that matters
@@matthewwyatt2044agreed! Hence the term “west coast offense”, where they just keep trading big passing play touchdowns. The Pac-12 teams have been structured this way for years. They setup big passing plays that eat big chunks of yardage quickly. They focus more on offense in the milder weather of the west coast. Not saying they can’t have good defensive schemes, but they typically focus more on offense. Then in the BigTen they’ve always tended to focus on big defense schemes that stop heavy run teams because the weather is typically cold, wet & windy the last half of the season where throwing the ball becomes risky and you typically see tighter games….like 13-10 or 17-14. It’s been this way for many decades.

Iowa has played below average QBs all year. They have not seen a team like Michigan who can flood the field with athletes and stress the defense both horizontally and vertically. That zone defense will get eaten alive by TEs and RBs in the pass routes. They are also very small up front. They won't be able to sit in zone all day when Michigan starts to run the ball. They'll have to get the safeties involved in the run game and that's when RPO and playaction will start clicking.
Guys, Iowa has been sandbaging all seasons on offense. They knew they would make it to the Big 10 championship with just there D/ST. So the offense has been playing opossum all year just so they can come alive in this game and surprise Michigan.

One thing I dint think people give enough credit for is the fact that it took the remnants of a tropical depression to break the top off of this defense. Nothing short of torrential rainfall has broken this team.

Iowa plays bend but dont break cover -2 zone. Similar to Michigan (although Michigan likes cover-3 too) they both want to stop the run without committing either safety. Last few times they've played Michigan was pushing Iowa's front 7 around like they stole something right out the gate. Michigan's short yardage offense is devastating and almost automatic with Corum. Michigan will get a lead then sit on it.

They don't have the athletes to play man to man too often. That's why they sit in zone. Will no DeJean, it will be even tougher on their defense. They are a very disciplined team but that only goes so far when you're playing a team that is more disciplined and more talented. JJ would have to throw 6 picks and have 3 lost fumble for Iowa to win.

Michigan better focus on this game and not look ahead. Michigan is overrated offensively and while I expect them to win this game, Iowa is very well coached and will be ready. UM will go on to lose in the first round of the playoffs to the team that ultimately loses to the SEC Champion. Hairball has had multiple suspensions this season and UM is being treated with velvet gloves for it's transgressions. Hairball is a mediocre coach at best.

Three best QB’s and offenses in B1G. Michigan, tOSU, Maryland. Iowa didn’t play any of them this year.

Michigan better focus on this game and not look ahead. Michigan is overrated offensively and while I expect them to win this game, Iowa is very well coached and will be ready. UM will go on to lose in the first round of the playoffs to the team that ultimately loses to the SEC Champion. Hairball has had multiple suspensions this season and UM is being treated with velvet gloves for it's transgressions. Hairball is a mediocre coach at best.

Iowa’s defense will be tired by halftime much like against PSU. Your offense can’t sustain drives. We dominated defenses better than you on the ground. 227 rush yds against PSU. 156 against OSU. Both defenses are better and have faced better competition. Michigan 49-0
