As one who has a lifelong passion for college football, Joel gets his own version of the "chase" every week during the fall by his thorough preparation for the broadcast, but the "capture" moment is only knowing he and his teammates at his network did a good job bringing the game to the people and not that exuberance of a winning lockerroom. @@speedracer2336 ummm that game was in 2008. The college football playoffs didn’t start until 2014, and no two loss team has made it. Besides you can’t lose two conference games, not even play in your conferences championship game, and make it to the playoffs
To answer that first question about being favored over 3 of the 4 playoff teams, bama was favored in some regular season games too but didnt win sooooo
The best record =/= the best team argument really annoys me. If you lost 2 games this season...you aren't the best team. Even if the team that got into the playoffs is from a weaker conference and doesn't win, it doesn't mean they didn't deserve to at least have a shot due to their record alone.
That would be true if we didn't have conferences. But we do. And having a good record in your conference does mean you have a shot at the title, the conference title... That's literally what that's for.. When you talk playoffs you're talking National. It's just good sense. You think Bama fans enjoyed watching Bama slap Cincinnati around like a high school team? We were not a running team that year and we're lucky to even be considered one of the best in the SEC. Yet Alabama ground and pounded them all over the field and you can tell they weren't even really trying and knew exactly how to handle them. You can't tell me there's not another team out there who had done more to earn that limited playoff spot than Cincinnati. If it's evident that they were a star team that deserved a shot, that's one thing. But they weren't, they just had a good record. There is a reason some nations currency is worth more than others.
The problem going forward is going to be who deserves to be in this 12 team playoff. The 2024 SEC schedule is nuts. There’s going to be teams with 3-4 losses that could beat some of these conference champions that are undefeated or have one loss. There shouldn’t be automatic qualifiers. The schedules just aren’t even conference to conference. And we don’t play enough regular season power 5 out of conference games to gauge conferences. There won’t be 6 conference champs that deserve to be in but they’ll get in anyways…. And what is the Big 12 without Oklahoma and Texas? What is the PAC 12 without USC and UCLA? Why should they get an almost automatic playoff bid? And what are these group of 5 conferences after they lose teams to the PAC 12 and BIG 12? Just to further illustrate my point, besides Georgia, the other power 5 conference champs in 2022, Clemson, Kansas State, Michigan, and Utah combined for a total out of conference, 3 Power 5 loses, 1 Group of 5 loss, and one total power 5 win.
What question would you want to ask legendary coach Nick Saban?
What's the toughest challenge in maintaining his standard of excellence?
Take Coach on his offer to become a coach.

Joel Klatt is the greatest college football analyst ever already & he's got nothing but time
Josh Pate better
Pate is the best, not close. Klatt is a network shill who has never seen a rule change to make games shorter that he didn’t like. He also keeps trying to make us all believe the B10 and SEC are “really close” in terms of competition. I’m sure it’s all sincere and not at all because FOX has Zero broadcasting rights in the SEC.
You can’t be a BIG10 shill and be the best analyst
@jesy1732 He's here to cover The B1G10 there's not much to say about the Sec I understand he had to ask questions about them because he's a B1G10 and Ohio State analyst
@@autonomouspilgrimage6137 who's better 🤷🏽
I remember the chaos from last year of “if Bama gets in, all these things needs to happen..” then ALL of throngs happened and people were absolutely terrified Bama would get in. As a Bama fan, we knew we weren’t due to the rules but it was still a site to see!
Two class acts. I’m proud to be an Alabama fan. Roll tide !
Coach Saban is the Goat 🐐 of CFB in the modern era 💯 He went to the NFL in learning failures help him become the best CFB coach hats offs!!
Rockne>Saban
His words has wisdom!!
I freaking love Saban…and I’m a Longhorn fan lol
Gosh I love and respect that man so much!! He’ll never take credit for anything! He has so much insight on life! The rules he lives by on the field, we should live by in our field of work. It’s hard to do because sometimes we just don’t feel like doing something but we should do it anyway! I have to listen to him daily in hopes my attitude will be I’m going to do this vs i don’t feel like doing this!
Klatt don’t want that smoke. And although his job is difficult and he puts in lots of hours it is nothing like coaching college football. He makes the same money now, way more job security, is able to use his gift, and can spend no time with his family. Coach Saban is God’s gift to us all. He gets it.
I keep telling people, as long as we have this man we always have a great chance at winning a national title. Roll tide roll!🐘🌊
That camera production is 🔥 so clear💯💪🏾
Take the job offer Joel!!!!!
It’s right there placed in a bow tie for you by The Great Nick Saban himself!
Go after your dreams! 🏈🏈🏈🏈
Defensive posture. Honest answers. Man is great.
He is also the same person that said and I quote.. “ if you don’t win your conference title you don’t deserve to go to playoff” yes they was better than 2 or 3 of them teams but I’m just saying he is only saying this because they didn’t get in.
I love how this guy constantly downs Alabama in season but face to face knows Nick Saban is daddy 😂😂😂
There were moments in this where Nick wasn’t joking with you and was legitimately either stating his concerns and point of view that either went over peoples heads or were simply laughed off for the sake of professionalism or being intimidated
I know I'm a BAMA fan but gotta say not only is Nick Saban probably the best college football coach in history he is a great Man as well what he and Miss Terry do to help people around the state is awesome thank u coach and ROLL TIDE 🐘
Rockne is the GOAT.
Keep doing great things Mr. Klatt. Always been a fan of yours. I love your honesty for why you did not join the coaching business. I graduated college in 2022 with the full intent on becoming a high school coach & teaching with aspirations of being a HFB coach one day. But after seeing it and being around it, I’m not sure if I’m willing to give up my time away from my family. I love the competition, the sport, mentoring these kids, but I can’t put it before my family. Still trying to find that balance in the industry so it comforted me hearing you say this. Great interview, Mr. Klatt, keep being great.
Great job! The CFB season can’t come soon enough
Just goes to say how respected you are Klatt, the way Coach Sabin talks to you - you can definitely tell he gives you the time of day
Great series so far! This interview and the Coach Prime one are some of the best content I’ve seen in the off-season so keep it up 👏 I hope you interview Kirby next and ask him about the 2024 schedule.
Anybody who knows anything about Kirby and the Dawgs know they’re very excited about the 2024 schedule. As a fan, I’m looking forward to watching them play at Texas the most.
Not a Bama fan but I am a Saban fan. Good conversation, Joel. Go Dawgs.
Yo!!!!!! What a comeback question from Joe Klatt on the coaching deal? While Coach Saban did have a strong answer ready to go but I LOVE that Klatt was willing to stand up to the legendary coach and that he didn't run and hide when Coach Saban tried to bully him. Nice work being an actual reporter Joey K!
This doesn’t matter to most and probably shouldn’t, I just want to say that his whole demeanor reads “I don’t want to be here” in the beginning, but toward the end he seemed to lighten up
If he didn’t want to be there he would’ve declined the invitation.
@@stp1986 true
Joel, I would LOVE to see you as a coach on Coach Saban's staff. I think you would do a TREMENDOUS job!
I love Coach Saban. He and Coach Prime are my top 2. I don't believe college athletes should be deemed as employees. They should not be able to organize or unionize. Not in college. Also, they should not be able to opt out at will. There needs to be limits.
I’m a Hurricane through and through but I love this man like a uncle and Respect him. We love Little Debbie Oatmeal pies lol
Mr.Klatt we need more of these. Great stuff
Saban is the GOAT as a Texas fan.
Great opening question Joel. Now, that’s how you start a RUclips sit down interview.
Absolute legend
Joel thought this was a interview for Nick, but this was a job interview for Joel 😮😮😮
You know you did a good job in the interview if you get offered a job on the spot
Awesome interview with the legendary Nick Saban.
Easy Subscribe right there
this just in "Joel Klatt just hired as Alabama's QB coach for the 2023 season."
Joel Klatt in his bag with these convos
As a gator fan I must admit that this was fire…. Great video.
Great perspective Joel
Great interview and I am a Clemson fan
*Want to see Colorado vs Alabama*
Sabían wasn’t kidding about that job offer, he knows Rees isn’t the right OC and he has seen Joel’s game breakdown 😂
Dude Reese is already exceeding expectations and is most definitely the perfect fit. You will regret this one 😂
Rees wouldn't be there if he wasn't the right guy you kidding me ? Saban could have chosen anyone he wanted . Dude went from being OC at notre dame and left not to be a head coach but to do same job but at alabama instead.
“When I found out we were favorited against 3 of the 4 teams in the playoffs, I wondered why are we not in the playoff?”
Well when I found out you were favored against every team you played this year, I wondered why didn’t you go undefeated?
You smart.
BOOM. Tennessee ran through them like they didnt exist. Foh Saban.

@@joshupton915 lol I love how Bama fans never have an actual argument, bc you know you’re wrong
@@joshupton915 funny you try to embarress this man for his argument even though he has a good point.
ANNUAL PLAYOFF FLEXIBILITY REMAINS THE KEY!
Not an Alabama fan, but you have to respect the program and the GOAT of college football coaches, Nick Saban.
Rockne is the GOAT.
Great job, Joel.
Can’t wait for the 12 team playoff. SEC will have more teams competing for the Naty!
The Goat and Coach Saban aint bad either .
What an incredible channel.
Please do an interview with Kiffin!
Joel has Ryan Day and Chip Kelly coming up but I agree that a Kiffin interview would be fantastic!
Class act … excellent interview … good job
As a Michigan fan, this man is awesome. Love the way he coaches. They should’ve been in the cfp honestly. I would’ve loved to see Michigan vs Bama. Plus it would’ve had higher stakes. You really get 2 massive B1G vs SEC schools with a chance at a B1G vs SEC matchup or a rematch of one of the two greatest rivalries of all time.
Agree, but Bama fatigue set in. Don’t think they could have beaten Ga., but would have been favored against the other three.
@@speedracer2336 I agree they may not have won against GA but they definitely wouldn’t have lost by 58 haha
@@speedracer2336it wasn’t “fatigue” it was because Bama lost two games.
@@autonomouspilgrimage6137 lsu had two losses and played for the Naty against no. 1 OSU and won. CFB playoff did not want to see a repeat of Ga vs Bama. Don’t believe Bama would have won, but would not have been blown out like TCU. Agree if you lose two games probably not going to Naty!
@@speedracer2336 ummm that game was in 2008. The college football playoffs didn’t start until 2014, and no two loss team has made it.
Besides you can’t lose two conference games, not even play in your conferences championship game, and make it to the playoffs
Alabama should have definitely got in over TCU.
Love Saban, the changes are here can u adjust ? to be successful you have to. Complaining about the nuances is a distraction. Love it
Tulane beating USC was one of the perfect reasons to expand the playoff.
I agree, and a tournament or the playoffs isn’t about the best team its the team that plays the best!
How far do you think Tulane would’ve gotten after beating USC in a 12-CFP last season?
Keep up the good interviews , you got my subscription 👍🏾
I do like Alabama. I also like coach Sabin. That's so satisfying! Roll Tide y'all!!
Great interview and Roll Tide!!
Coach Saban looked uncomfortable with those crossed arms and crossed legs, being questioned. But I'm glad it was Klatt.
Watch every interview he’s done. He ALWAYS sits like this. 😂
@@stp1986 Now that I think about it, I don't think I've ever watched a proper Saban interview. Just clips. Huh 🤔
Prayers for coach Prime🙏🙏🙏
Joel Klatt is the best in the business!!!!!
He is spot on with addition of OU and UT more good teams
Couple of GOATS talking.
One team might be better at the end of the season due to injuries on the other teams. You rarely get teams at full-strength at playoff time.
Nope
Depends on who you lost to and by how much,
Great point by coach on contracts.
You need to be interviewing Georgia and Kirby Smar
Why?
Definitely
Saban is the Goat and Sage of College football 🏈
Great interview!
