I wish I never found this channel. I have never considered RC crawling, in fact, I always though it looked boring. Well, long story short, after being subscribed for less than a week, I have a TRX-4 and TRX-6 on order arriving in the next couple days. Thanks.
Crawling definitely isn't for everyone, but skills using the crawlers does transfer over to your fast RCs as well. I personally like crawling and currently have the TRX4 Bronco and was interested in the new SCX10 lll. Most people I chat with about the 10 lll say I would be disappointed. I'm not so sure about that, but I do want to see all the features of the ten lll with straight axles. When it comes to using the crawlers, you have to find those "ain't no way it's getting over that" to really appreciate them. I've have my TRX4 for over a year now and it still surprises me at it's ability at times. RC Review is definitely the right channel for crawler info. One thing I highly recommend first thing with both your TRX4's is change out the plastic servo arm to aluminum or some kind of a metal. The servo arm is literally the first thing to go on most TRX's. Just watch sizing of the servo arms though if you buy aftermarket. Traxxas offers a metal upgrade, part # 8247x for I think $10. Don't quote me on the price as I don't recall the price 100%.
I’ve probably watched at least 50 of your videos. I’m so glad I went with the Traxxas TRX4 sport kit. I don’t think anybody can touch the cost benefit factor it offers. Here is my setup so far: $280 trx4 sport kit $45 hobbywing 1080 brushed $20 Holmes trail master 21T(Holmes crawlmaster sport 15T is better but impossible to find) $25 JX servo 25KG $30 bumbo rc rx/rx. Total of $400 Upgrades in mind so far: Dual stage foam Affordable headlock wheels Original tire mods Raised both bumpers Raised rock sliders Trim the body. BTW I haven’t put a kit together in ages but I was impressed with how easy it was to build it. Not really fond of traxxas but i have to give the kudos to them on this one. It’s gem. I’ve considered the axial 10.3 but the kit alone is $370 and very hard to find these days.
I like this comparison. I know a lot of folks thought the best comparison was with the defender but really it says a lot with the Axial having a top of the line motor and servo and the TRX4 Sport still destroyed it
I've had the TRX4 Land Rover since they came out. I have some other bodies for it to throw on if I want the CG WAAAAAY lower for performance. Other than putting a stronger steering servo on I've been able to just enjoy making it look great and not had any technical issues whatsoever. It's just an amazing platform if you want a do everything pretty stinking well vehicle. Had an SCX10 and bomber in the past so not am axial hater, just saying I really love the TRX 🤘
Thanks for your honest reviews. You are one of two youtubers i 100% trust. I'd like to add the trx4 sport is tuff! Ive beaten mine up for over a year and haven't broken anything!
As RC Review noted. this doesn't say which is better when all is said and done. But if you want the best crawler out of the box. clearly the trx is the winner, and the cheapest price. I picked up a defender myself a few months ago because of this channel. Wanted to get the Traxxas before knowing anything about the crawlers, just becasuse of parts availability and so on. Nice to know this time I also got the best. I've since stripped it down, put the battery in front, got the better tires, couple other key mods I'll keep to myself ;) and I've got the best truck in the group I run with for under $500. Most the guys I run with probably have 1k-1.5k in there trucks. I will probable go for style and rarity on my next crawler. but nice to know I can always pull out the top dog when I need to show off a little.
Exactly what we did as well. When the 10.3 is stripped down, it will perform very well too. But... the transmission is quite hard to strip down and make lighter since the DIG gears and 2-speed gears don't look like they can be removed, unlike the TRX4 with 2-speed and locking diff gears.
I would go for all three. I already have the Defender, and love it. Problem is I want the sport with the same features. I use them all for my rock crawling. This was a great shoot out. We just have to bite the bullet and buy one of each along with a trailer to tow the other when out trailing. I prefer the remote locking diffs myself vs. full time lock. Thanks for all the hard work and stay safe.
I own six rigs from all 3 Axial versions, with different electronics, upgrades, and box stock. Also have 5 TRXs and one TRX6 with a mix of same set up / configurations as my Axials. Definitely prefer my non-stock electronic TRXs for performance. The 10.1 and 10.2 are very capable crawlers. For me, the key to a good run are excellent tires and set up for effective crawling. The 10.3 needs work, I love the simplicity of the 10.2s with my 69 Blazer as my dedicated crawler. I just upgraded the chassis on that one to a Vanquish. Haven't taken it out yet with the new chassis but hopefully soon. Lockdown sucks. IMHO, the 2 speed on the 10.3 is a waste. Dig is definitely a plus but not needed because Axial made a very nice trail truck. Mine unfortunately will sit on a shelf looking pretty.
Overall time will tell....the TRX 4 sports is a great rig. I would like to see the SCX 10 with a different body no two speed or inner fenders and a lower pinion. Keep the dig unit they are a game changer. Light low and wide. One of my personal rigs is a SCX10 with AR 60 axles and a 13.5 inch wheelbase. Just a great performing rig.
The TRX4 Sport is a beast. I highly recommend these mods when you are ready to swap stuff: Brass portal axle covers in the front (I have 93g each side but you can do 40g ones) The stock gearing is way too tall, I switched to a 45 tooth Spur and 11 tooth Pinion Get the smaller 2S battery and the Voodoo RC LCG battery Tray. Hobbywing 1080 ESC (Once you have the new ESC get a better Servo, I have heard good things about the Promodeler DS470) With these mods its almost impossible to flip the truck over and it will crawl almost anything.
Great comparison. Thank you, I've been trying to make up my mind, now I know. *Hey, a suggestion: Use the same camera angle for the same lines. * It helps us see better how they each individually traversed the lines...
I’ve learnt the scx10 iii horrible transmission click is due to unclear so basically incorrect assembly instructions. See Kisuns RC life channel for explanation.
I came a cross this late, but it was very instructive. The newest SC10iii for 2022, called the Base Camp, accomplishes a lot of what you were asking for in this video. Thanks for this video.
I had narrowed my choices down to either the Enduro senduro or trx4 sport. Sport arrives tomorrow. Great channel. Helped me make a more educated decision.
I’m waiting for kit w/o body. (I like Jeeps but don’t wanna own latemodel 4 door Jeep, even RC) Probably $120+ cheaper without: high-end lexan body hard plastic body pieces interior rollcage inner fenders plastic engine and misc SCX10.3 Jeep kit $370 Enduro kit $240 but no rims & tires TRX-4 Sport kit $280 but has body, cage & scale details SCX10.3 bodiless kit (just add body & electonics) would sit around $250 Anyway I’m over thinking it.
Oh forgot to say, ideally (for me at least) bodiless kit would include 2speed & dig plus lockout option for both. SCX10.3 2speed lockout option is relatively simple compared to TRX vs TRX4 Sport. I think theres around 15 unique pieces between those two Traxxas models. So might as well include the upgrades and corresponding simple lockouts on SCX10.3.
Basic SCX10 III KIT with *Straight Axles* the old reliable 3 Gear Transmission and non Licensed Body would be outstanding.... For a change! Not all of us can pay maximum money for frills we don't need.
For sure! We'll start to strip down our 10.3. Two problems though. One is the transmission cannot seam to lose all those heavy gears even if Dig and 2-speed are not used. The other problem is once stripped down, it may not be much better than a scx10.2 which is pretty darn good box stock.
Great comparison vid Fran. I have a defender and a sport and I like them both, however I am a better driver with the defender since I have owned it a lot long. I am learning the sport more and it is pretty awesome. I have been really intrigued with the 10.3 but other then the DIG it's a Trx4. So I think I'm going to save some cash and put it to a 6x6.
Ended up buying a TRX-4 Sport unassembled kit after your recommendation. Build went flawlessly and am totally satisfied. Thanks for the amazing content. Really appreciate the information.
Excellent review and comparison Francis! I have the Trx4 Sport and love it. I also have the Axial SCX10 ii 1969 Chevy Blazer and it is an amazing rig too. I’m not really sold yet on the SCX10 iii, especially after reading about the not so great Two speed transmission and I really cannot stand Jeeps. I wish Axial had considered a new body option, getting tired of seeing Jeeps everywhere.
Finally bought the TRX4 Sport (tan body) in early January, 2020 and was about to join a local crawling group, when the global plague hit. I think I made the right choice. Now I just need, like everyone else, for COVID-19 to run it's course so I can go play with friends. Take care guys
I got lucky and when I bought my house it came with a Xeroscaped front yard with a fake creek running through it. Now when im bored ill get my TRX4 Sport and do a "Run up Quarantine Creek". It gets a little old after a while but its better than nothing.
Mate it's a great part of the hobby, definitely a lot less broken parts but I wouldn't say you spend less money. Lol. It's pretty chill hanging out with kids or a friend in a nice spot trying to climb the un-climable or hike a trail. Good luck with your monster truck 👍
Great test! Pretty much exactly what I expected. I wasn't sure why folks were thinking the Axial would outperform the Sport. The Axial looks better, but Sport just does it all.
Yes, it's pretty hard to refute this. The 10.3 did very good on this course for a trail crawler with a very realistic body. But one can see the prowess of the trx4 sport and the potential.
I really do love my TRX4. The only down side I don't like about it is the front and rear bumpers stick out way too far. I find myself taking them off so I can really climb over stuff. Bumpers are nice, but just not good for starting a steep climb because of the angles of the cliff. Good Video!
Just what the trx4 sport fan boys needed... a loaded comparison to make themselves feel better.. lol..🤪 Looking forward to someone taking the time to strip down the scx10iii to a chassis kit and fit a non-descript ute(pick up) body on it and then see how both the chassis's compare. It's a tough call since you would buy the scx10iii for the beautifully detailed scale jeep body with interior and the fenders etc... give it time and it will be done... Happy Easter everyone 👍
Loaded comparison? Talk about a fanboy. He first tested it against a more similar Defender TRX-4 and he stated the SCX10 III was better. Sometimes you get more for less, in this case the meat and potatoes Sport is just plain better for pure rock crawling. Changing the body on the Axial to something lighter would have been "loading" the test.
@@gpaje "Loaded" as in, guaranteed result... honestly did you think a trx4 sport with the battery placed on its nose would not win this test. It's like "some" trx4 sport owner's need constant reassurance they made a good purchase.. It's a great value, good performing basic truck..
@@mickd8188 Sure, I'm honestly not a fan of Traxxas, but I am a fan of how this guy reviews. I don't think he did anything that "fixed" the test in Traxxas favor. I mean you have a basically stock TRX-4 Sport with it's stock ESC, crappy servo & radio against a much more expensive kit build with higher end electronics all around. The Axial is hurt by it's heavier scale body, but that's how they come, can't blame him for running that. I don't think this test could have been more fairer to the Axial without seriously biasing against the Traxxas.
Traxxas hands down. I know scx10iii is new to portals.... In our rc groups we have guys who run toyzuki and and other brands and the sport just dominates on all. The only reason i know that is....im the driver of a sport. I run suv bodies like the gen7 body or the bronco and now the trx camper body. I also run a hard body ford cab and it still dominates. I just got a umimog hard body gunna through that on the sport and have fun crawling and surprising people. Scx10iii might have a tight turning radius but it still lacks.something....i can't put my finger on it. Nice stuff for the scx10iii on the inside for sure. I enjoyed the video.
I have both, and though I am new to crawling and still have a lot to learn, I like the TRX better. It just looks and feels tougher. But in this comparison, I could not lose either way.
3 years later, im glad i went with a trx4. I had an electrical nightmare go down and traxxas was surprisingly cool and helpful about everything, they asked me to send my bad electronics and they replaced them at no cost to me. I got a pro scale light kit and the power block burned out a few things. They replaced that too.
I saw this coming. That’s why I’m buying the TRX 4 sport. I have the TRX blazer so the sport makes more sense than the SCX 10.3. I have a great trail crawler now I want a good performer.
Same here man. I have the TRX 4 Blazer fully modded. Mamba X w/ 2280kv motor, hardened gears in diffs, hardened axles, steel driveshafts, Traxxas brushless steering servo, all 3 micro servos swapped for metal gear servos, every aluminum piece Traxxas makes for the portals, CCHand bumpers, rock sliders, RC4WD warn winch, proline wheels w/ hyrax tires as well as a few more cosmetic accessories. I also have a sport. The sport was supposed to remain stock but I couldn't let that happen. Did nearly the same upgrades as the blazer but put underdrive gearing in the rear. Awesome trucks 👍
Also anyone that says Francis is a TRX4 “fanboy” I think you need to look at the chassis again on the 10.3. The motor and trans setup is at about the same height of the Gmade BOM. The TRX4 is nice and low in comparison 😉
Is like to see the bodies swapped and run it again. This way we can see if the Jeep body is top heavy versus the pickup body. To my understanding the 10 iii also have a roll cage inside. Could also be extra weight that make it top heavy. Please correct me if I’m wrong.
Love the review, trx 4 was the clear winner imho. Which one comes with the best stock tires, fully stock comparison would be good because that's how axial and traxxas think it should be and how most people without loads of money will run it, those tires and wheels are pretty expensive to upgrade straight away. Which is best out of the box?
Brother in law looking to get sport and you just sold him I'd like to see a trx sport vs a Everest gen 7 pro to see how they match up because that's what I have and if you read this throw in an hpi venture because that's my dream car and rc thank you for the video best vs videos on this channel love all the extra information
Good test! Not to far from what I expected. I just finished my chassis build of the SCX 10 iii(need to paint still), but honestly I did not expect it to compete with my heavily modified sport. I feel the sport is pretty much hands down for the money the best rtr crawler you can buy. Modify it and it becomes that much better. Still saving for a VS4-10 Ultra though. After your review of the pro I think the ultra may beat the sport.
Mike R I agree on the Trx4. Especially modified. But these guys built a VS4-10 pro and if I remember correctly it performed slightly better than their modded trx4 sport. Don’t get me wrong I love my sport. It crawls neck and neck with Capra’s just losing a bit on approach and departure angles and slightly on cog.
The Vanquish VS4 10 Pro outperformed all of them in the shootout. The Capra, trx4 sport and the SCX 10 II it out did all of them if you want to spend $800 on a kit the Vanquish is totally worth it.
Yup I am on that road as well. Just picked up a brushless system for my Trx6 and am changing the body and putting a flatbed on it. And started the parts purchasing for a ground up comp build.......could probably buy that VS4-10 for all I am spending on other rigs😂😂🤣
i remember when trx-4 had arrived how users said that scx10.2 is the king and trx-4 has lot of "wrongs" on it. how the turntables have turned(office joke), I see lot of comments praising trx-4 in comparison with scx10.3.
Always watch Buddy. I'd like to see an apples-to-apples comparison....as in a TRX4 12.3 Bronco chassis and a Axial 10.3 using the same body, same tires & wheels, same electronic's. That would be a perfect comparison of the chassis's. Keep up the great work.
The Axial has all those wonderful 'scaler' details like mirrors, windshield wipers, interior, and even a driver, but the TRX-4 Sport's adherence to the K I S S philosophy and 11 months of daily driving in my rock garden/crawl course both vindicates the philosophy and has totally won my heart. Keep your multi-speeds and DIG transmissions. Keep It Simple Stupid!
Thanks for posting this, I've had a nearly stock Wraith Spawn in storage for the last 5 years and recently busted it out. I've been seeing all these great scale 1.9 trucks for the first time these past few weeks and the way they have flooded the market makes it hard to decide which one to get. Your shootout videos are really helping me decide as my choices are between the Redcat Gen8, TRX4 or an SCX10. It's hard to argue with the performance of the TRX4 that you've just shown. Your review of the Gen8 AXE has me really interested in that truck too. Would love to see more of it.
Spawns are still available. Do you expect more fun with one of those you named? Or you just got over Spawn and want to try something else? If I had my Spawn broken I would get another one for sure. Plus trx4 sport for a compaion :)
@@runningtrilobite oh I still have my Spawn, I shredded my plastic idler gear 4 days after I brought it out of storage, I just got my replacement metal gears in the mail Saturday morning and am planning to throw it back together Wednesday when I'm off work. I've also got my wife's Yeti's front diff to repair. I love my Spawn but I'm really feeling the allure of the more realistic 1.9 trucks. The Wraith 1.9 looks great too, I'm having a real hard time deciding between the TRX4, an SCX10, a Gen8 or that Wraith 1.9.
@@wtyMcwterson if you like to build, you can't go wrong with the trx4 sport kit. I just got done with mine couple weeks ago. It's awesome. Love the capra too, fun build also.
@@williamammon4899 I've been looking really hard at that Sport kit, I really like all the accessories it comes and as the video shows stock performance is pretty impressive. I do enjoy building kits and liked what I saw when watching Harley Design's build series on it. Does the kit come with everything needed for the 2 speed transmission and variable diffs? I know it needs motor, ESC, steering servo and RX/TX.
It's the simple versions that tend to perform the best. My brother has the top of the line TRX4 but my cheap SCX10 II Honcho destroys it with just some Proline tires on it. A lot of it I think as to do with the body types as well. The light ute bodies like the Honcho and the sport seem to work really well against the more scale bodies
I love your videos dude for sure,, but for me and this is my personal opinion ok, to me the best and perfect rc car, it’s the one the put a smile on your face man. Don’t get me wrong ok I do have same traxxas red cat axial but I have some chip ones 2 lol and to java a good time all you need it’s get an rc or something you prefer and go outside and have fun whit it. Bro, and as I said before it’s my personal opinion dude,, great video by the way,,
Excellent review as usual. Great job! The SCX 3 is a great looking scale crawler but the Trx-4 Sport is still the king of crawlers. Such a simple and an amazing vehicle! 👍🏼
Hi . ok . when you have portal and hight body with interior , it s impossible to compare to a crawler with no portal like scx10.2! the difference between a sport a bronco and a defender show that only the body change the capacity to climb. SCX 3 is born to be realist look like defender trx4. With a light body and some change or set up , add weight ... I hope you try a scale version like you do with all your test . Thanks for this test : we know that you should work on this scx10.3 to do it what we want
I recently bought the TRX4 after watching many videos on it.Been modding it it here & there, each time to see how much better it performs.Just keeps getting better & better.Did great straight out of the box,BTW.Happy crawling
Hé Scott, same for me. Watched lots of video’s and decided to go for the TRX4 kit. I’m just done building it, no upgrades yet. I ordered a K5 Blazer body for it. I’m sure I gonna have lost of fun with it. Happy crawling.
I have the tr4 sport and the axial scx 10ii and I love them both, they are extremely capable crawlers,i might just wait to see what else comes out....great video as always👍👍
I've been thinking about running my battery on the front chassis rail in my sport you definitely just sold me on it 👍🏻 are you using a battery tray if so what one or did you just strap it to the rails? I'm also going to switch my receiver box and ESC into the middle bowhouse LCG tray to balance it all im running a HW1080 a Holmes Hobby 12t crawlmaster and a protek 370tbl servo its a absolute beast 💯
Buy the OEM narrow inner fenders. Allows you some freedom with optional rear shock positions and comes with the front battery tray. Not bad for $15 or so.
@@sprather84 Not much weight, it replaces some stock components so the additional weight isn't that much more. But sure, you can rig something up I'm sure.
I agree it does replace some of the components and adds a place for a front mounted battery. It adds barely anything in weight that you won't gain back in the battery being up there. With the obvious bonus of keeping some of the nasties off of the inside of the truck if you run in rainy conditions. I just added some to my sport a week ago and was hesitant because of the weight and weight bias. I was wrong.
Me and son did our own test rubicon vs sport… wow his Sport blew rubicon outa the water … it’s the absolute! Hands down thee best crawler STOCK!! mind you… I’m trying to find something to beat it.. I can’t!! Lol , so ima get another sport!! Lol
I love your videos, but I think most are waiting to see a fair comparison: Can you try both trucks with: -no body -same driver -similar gear ratio -same tires -same motor, servo, esc & battery -single speed, no dig... Maybe throw in the Vanquish vs4-10 ultra too?
Ooooh.... so much work. The issue though is they are soo far apart AND it's not going to change the outcome. If it's close, then we would take the effort to normalize everything. We do have the SCX10.2 Blazer and Gen8 doing all these same lines and we'll publish it soon. All the driving is the same. And we've taken thse lines hundreds of times.
The TRX-4 sport that's the winner rock crawler 😁 but this are the of things we regret when we find the body full of scratches but at the same time it feels so great when you get to the "top of the Mountain" 😎 for me TRX-4 or TRX-6 it's they are invincible 👍
Would be great to do a complete stock comparison. Maybe if there is a way to put the same body on both chassis. Also, would be great to add the trx 4 mercedes stock and see how that compares. I don't own any RC cars but this channel is helping me decide on which one to go for, for my son and I. Looks like I am certainly leaning to the trx 4, but which one...
I fell in love with RC Crawler because of your vidoes, love the content!! I had my eyes set for the GWagen TRX4 but TRX4 Sport seems to be a better and cheaper crawler - what do you guys think? This shelter-in situation is also perfect for indoor crawler and I can't decide between Mini-Z Crawler or Axial SCX24. My oh my.....let's help our slumping economy and buy them all - shall we?
Another great review !! It's strange Axial has created a new best looking, but less performing vehicle... Axial has loose it's best performance target, since Blazer with those awful bumpers hanging everywhere and fenders catching every tire... Previous Axial Jeep Wrangler I think is the best from Axial...it's strange they walk backwards...
Seems like Axial had its chance to redeem itself with the 10iii but failed. I lost count how many times it tipped over. It almost seems like the TRX4 Sport has glue on its tires; it just doesn't flip over even though it looks like it should! It does all those climbs effortlessly with great stance.
That's the right sequence. The 10.3 is quite a bit harder and there's a bunch of errors in the printed manual so make sure you go online for the latest updated version.
Great review. Wonder performance of SCX10.3 without interior, cage, plastic engine and 2 speed but stock body. Basically free performance upgrades (scale downgrades).
What size battery was up front of the trx4? 2200? Did you take the standard battery tray out? On the Traxxas website they say move the battery up front with there 1400 3s and fender kit (8080), take the standard tray out and you’ve got 59/41 weight ratio. Pretty awesome!
they are 2 incredible rock crawler (i have both) obiviously in your video is possible see that TRX crawling better than SCX in some/many occasion....in any case is necessary to do some upgrade in that cars and to have 2 incredible monsters! thanks for your explaination i see always yuor video!!! my best compliments!!

Agreed. The remote locking diffs are my favorite feature on my TRX-4. 👍✌️
Going a day without seeing a Francis video is like going a day without my medication
lolol.
Digs are far from new. Especially to axial rigs.
Just started to watch but I’m already going with the TRX4 Sport 😉👍👍
The TRX4 Sport is a beast. I highly recommend these mods when you are ready to swap stuff:
Brass portal axle covers in the front (I have 93g each side but you can do 40g ones)
The stock gearing is way too tall, I switched to a 45 tooth Spur and 11 tooth Pinion
Get the smaller 2S battery and the Voodoo RC LCG battery Tray.
Hobbywing 1080 ESC
(Once you have the new ESC get a better Servo, I have heard good things about the Promodeler DS470)
With these mods its almost impossible to flip the truck over and it will crawl almost anything.
Great comparison. Thank you, I've been trying to make up my mind, now I know.
*Hey, a suggestion: Use the same camera angle for the same lines. *
It helps us see better how they each individually traversed the lines...
I’ve learnt the scx10 iii horrible transmission click is due to unclear so basically incorrect assembly instructions. See Kisuns RC life channel for explanation.
Also see Harley Designs latest Video for that and proper setup.
After all of the different test have been proven, I really like how the TRX4 performs as a budget model.
Great comparison. Just got a Trx-4 Sport last week and have been really happy with it so far. Now I just need some nicer weather.
So it sounds like we need an SCX10iii sport. Basic no frills model. Oh yeah, great review btw!
I thought you can build it that way, single speed with no dig if you please. Though I would build my with the dig.
I’m waiting for kit w/o body.
(I like Jeeps but don’t wanna own latemodel 4 door Jeep, even RC)
Probably $120+ cheaper without:
high-end lexan body
hard plastic body pieces
interior
rollcage
inner fenders
plastic engine
and misc
SCX10.3 Jeep kit $370
Enduro kit $240 but no rims & tires
TRX-4 Sport kit $280 but has body, cage & scale details
SCX10.3 bodiless kit (just add body & electonics) would sit around $250
Anyway I’m over thinking it.
Keep the dig, just install brushless motor. No need for dual speed.
Basic SCX10 III KIT with *Straight Axles* the old reliable 3 Gear Transmission and non Licensed Body would be outstanding....
For a change!
Not all of us can pay maximum money for frills we don't need.
I was looking to get the scx-10iii but got the mercadies ensted and I'm happy I went with the trx-4
Just finished building a TRX-4 sport. Holy crap this thing can crawl in stock form. I love it!
And it is such a great kit to assemble... the best build instructions in my opinion. Just an amazing piece of kit
😁👍 I agree strip the new SCX10 III down like traxxas did with the trx4 sport and the axial will be awesome!
Great to hear! Yeah the construction, parts, documentation aon the TRX-4 assembly kit are flawless. Wait til you see that thing run.
Incredible results, just shows the potential of the trx4. Another amazing review
👍👍
Good for you. Like your creek's name.
Great video. I have never done rock crawling RC before. It is definitely interesting. Maybe something to get into once I have my monster truck done.
Yes, it will be pretty hard to argue against these results.
I own all Axial Crawlers at the moment. The TRX4 Sport Will be my next purchase. Great demonstration as usual.
I'm really biased with the TRX-4 and man even at bone stock that thing killed that course! And of course, another awesome video from you.
Yes, it's pretty hard to refute this. The 10.3 did very good on this course for a trail crawler with a very realistic body. But one can see the prowess of the trx4 sport and the potential.
I have a trx 4 kit to build .I have the defender and bronco also absolutely love them.
I really do love my TRX4. The only down side I don't like about it is the front and rear bumpers stick out way too far. I find myself taking them off so I can really climb over stuff. Bumpers are nice, but just not good for starting a steep climb because of the angles of the cliff. Good Video!
Just what the trx4 sport fan boys needed... a loaded comparison to make themselves feel better.. lol..🤪
Looking forward to someone taking the time to strip down the scx10iii to a chassis kit and fit a non-descript ute(pick up) body on it and then see how both the chassis's compare.
Pure rock crawling??? This is glorified trailing.
@@Kevin-o7u1d Sure, how about heavier trailing? Either way, less complicated has always been better.
Great video as always! I wonder how many times in each video you say composed and modulation, lol.....love it!
I have had my trx4 for 2 years and still love it!
I think the main thing is the CoG on the 10.3 is too high and off center
I have both, and though I am new to crawling and still have a lot to learn, I like the TRX better. It just looks and feels tougher. But in this comparison, I could not lose either way.
3 years later, im glad i went with a trx4. I had an electrical nightmare go down and traxxas was surprisingly cool and helpful about everything, they asked me to send my bad electronics and they replaced them at no cost to me. I got a pro scale light kit and the power block burned out a few things. They replaced that too.
Wow great review & you proved it, the TRX-4 Sport is the way to go. Thank You!
Axial scx10 III vs. TRX4 bronco test !!! With the stock tires
I'd like to see such an objective comparison between the trx4 and scx10.II
Coming
I amazed that with almost 3 years to come up with something better the TRX4 still wears the crown. I’m willing to bet it’s more durable too.
The King still lives!
Great comparison. Another great video from RC Review.
Probably the TRX4 Sport. The tires are well regarded on the TRX4 while the SCX10 III tires are really poor. They are too stiff and dont grab anything.
It may have been the driver, but, I saw a Vanquish video, and it was just embarrassing. The think looked helpless. TRX-4 Sport, is just a beast.
The Capra, trx4 sport and the SCX 10 II it out did all of them if you want to spend $800 on a kit the Vanquish is totally worth it.
inyourearhole225 Agreed. At some point I will drop the cash and go for it. But modifying a few other rigs before I get to that!
That is here! ruclips.net/video/W1yb8VeG_-Q/видео.html
Our Bronco has a long travel kit right now so a little difficult for that one.
When dealing with RCs remember to keep customer service in mind when picking the brand you're gonna go with too
It's the simple versions that tend to perform the best. My brother has the top of the line TRX4 but my cheap SCX10 II Honcho destroys it with just some Proline tires on it. A lot of it I think as to do with the body types as well. The light ute bodies like the Honcho and the sport seem to work really well against the more scale bodies
Perfect timing on this video omg, great job
Right on. You're doing a purchase soon?
@@RCReviewChannel Yep, down to the two you've got featured so these vids are awesome!
Thanks for the nice shoot out. I love your work. At the moment I have no time and money to buy and drive one, but your vids are helping out great.
Bro, and as I said before it’s my personal opinion dude,, great video by the way,,
TRX 4 Sport is a beast! Getting one soon! Nice vid btw👍
Excellent review as usual. Great job! The SCX 3 is a great looking scale crawler but the Trx-4 Sport is still the king of crawlers. Such a simple and an amazing vehicle! 👍🏼
Exactly. The lines don't lie.
Hi . ok . when you have portal and hight body with interior , it s impossible to compare to a crawler with no portal like scx10.2! the difference between a sport a bronco and a defender show that only the body change the capacity to climb. SCX 3 is born to be realist look like defender trx4.
With a light body and some change or set up , add weight ... I hope you try a scale version like you do with all your test . Thanks for this test : we know that you should work on this scx10.3 to do it what we want
Trx4 is jus the way to go I've had one for like 6weeks I drive it every day,I wish I had got it first,it so much fun,so many options
@@corabbring8198 how much $ for the body
William Ammon - William I’m from Europe, I paid €150,- for the complete prepainted body. About $164,-
I have the tr4 sport and the axial scx 10ii and I love them both, they are extremely capable crawlers,i might just wait to see what else comes out....great video as always👍👍
@@gpaje not sure if i want to add the wieght of the fenders but was thinking about that tray maybe securing it to the front rail?
@@sprather84 Not much weight, it replaces some stock components so the additional weight isn't that much more. But sure, you can rig something up I'm sure.
@@gpaje ill definitely check it out thanks 4 the great advice
Lol
I just bought the txr 4 sport. Wonder if I did a mistake by purchasing a heavy to put on it. At lease it will look good!
Whatever... For me .. Axial is the best ... 😂 good video, broo
Only remove the inner fenders and put the TRX sport body onto axial and then you can compare
Thanks for this, definitely going with the TRX-4 Sport Kit now even though i'm not a huge Traxxas fan.
You should also use the same camera angles. The difference camera angles between trucks make it hard for the viewer to get perspective of difficulty.
Yes, we'll do that.
I love your videos, but I think most are waiting to see a fair comparison:
Can you try both trucks with:
-no body
-same driver
-similar gear ratio
-same tires
-same motor, servo, esc & battery
-single speed, no dig...
Thats the comparison the RCScale Crawler world waiting for!
The TRX-4 sport that's the winner rock crawler 😁 but this are the of things we regret when we find the body full of scratches but at the same time it feels so great when you get to the "top of the Mountain" 😎 for me TRX-4 or TRX-6 it's they are invincible 👍
Oh, man! Thank you for posting this! Using the Sport is like cheating 😂😂😂
Yup, Imagine it modded and with prime electronics
Honestly i think trx-4 much more durable platform
Wish they release scale builders kit without wheels/body/electronics
Would be great to do a complete stock comparison. Maybe if there is a way to put the same body on both chassis. Also, would be great to add the trx 4 mercedes stock and see how that compares. I don't own any RC cars but this channel is helping me decide on which one to go for, for my son and I. Looks like I am certainly leaning to the trx 4, but which one...
TRX-4 Sport, and cut up some cheap bicycle tire inner tubes, to make wheel well liners, and don't look back.
Trx,4 all the way cheers👍🇺🇲🎖🎖
That's it ! I'm gunna have to get a trx4
Awesome review and video 👍🏻👊🏻🙂🔥
Do comparison with the element kit
Hard to beat the trx4 sport rtr for the price and the abilities it has. 👍👍
Great video. This video offers great advice and delves into the detail specifics. Excellent!
Good choice! TRX4 Sport is an incredible performer, box stock.
Wow, the TRX-4 is still the king. Have you tried them both without the bodies?
Great comparison video.....no surprise to me......the Sport is my favorite
Here, we run the same lines and harder ones with the Traxxas TRX-6
Very nice comparation , thank you
I prefer thé axial SCX 10 2 , it us better working , but i don't Know if thé TRX4 sport IS better ?
Another great review !!
It's strange Axial has created a new best looking, but less performing vehicle...
Axial has loose it's best performance target, since Blazer with those awful bumpers hanging everywhere and fenders catching every tire...
Previous Axial Jeep Wrangler I think is the best from Axial...it's strange they walk backwards...
Actually surprised that the sport is still in top. The axial looked very promising.
If u woulda had better electronics in the trx4 it would of really killed it! Lol. Nice video! Keep it up sir. Stay healthy and safe! 😁✌️
Exactly.
I was tempted to grab the SCX10 III as soon as it was released, but I’m hoping Axial also releases a “Sport” version of the III.
Hopefully they will. But I am quite certain it will be a while. The RTR is the next one. And I'm sure there's other projects.
RC Review I agree, but I have my Capra axled based rig I’m working on to keep me busy until then.
Scx10iii sport version it is! 😅
Great video and completely agree that they should bring a simplified version of the scx10 3,good work🚙👍
Seems like Axial had its chance to redeem itself with the 10iii but failed. I lost count how many times it tipped over. It almost seems like the TRX4 Sport has glue on its tires; it just doesn't flip over even though it looks like it should! It does all those climbs effortlessly with great stance.
Trx 4 best crawler💪🏼🔥
I just finished a TRX4 Sport build will be getting a SCX10.3 next.
That's the right sequence. The 10.3 is quite a bit harder and there's a bunch of errors in the printed manual so make sure you go online for the latest updated version.
I really appreciate your reviews. Gives mea lot to think about.
What wheels & size are you running on the trx4 sport?
Great review.
Wonder performance of SCX10.3 without interior, cage, plastic engine and 2 speed but stock body. Basically free performance upgrades (scale downgrades).
What size battery was up front of the trx4? 2200? Did you take the standard battery tray out? On the Traxxas website they say move the battery up front with there 1400 3s and fender kit (8080), take the standard tray out and you’ve got 59/41 weight ratio. Pretty awesome!
TRX4 clearly the winner, Axial needs to do some changes
they are 2 incredible rock crawler (i have both) obiviously in your video is possible see that TRX crawling better than SCX in some/many occasion....in any case is necessary to do some upgrade in that cars and to have 2 incredible monsters! thanks for your explaination i see always yuor video!!! my best compliments!!
