    Taking notes for my ADHD brain
    1. Recommended: don't offer free shipping.
    Customer psychology will view the total price as higher due to having to factor in shipping costs as opposed to simply charging for shipping
    2. Sellers with a total under $20 but with paid shipping had better results
    3. Experiment with your own shop to see what works
    4. Any purchases over $35, provide free shipping as it encourages customers to buy more to "meet the quota" to qualify for free shipping
    5.) Offer free shipping on products listed at $35 (such as hoodies listed at $40 each, as opposed to the point made in #4 where the customer buys multiple items to meet the $35 minimum to get free shipping)

      @@ginadl8757 hey, I know this is six months later, but I have the same questions and just figured it out for myself. You do it in Etsy, at least that’s what I did. I selected like items and changed the shipping profile. For instance, if I was taking free shipping off of T-shirts, I would select all the T-shirts to my store and then find the, shipping profile for T-shirts. Then I would do that for mugs, hoodies and sweatshirts, etc.

    I had some losses early on offering the free shipping with $35 purchase when I had orders for items that shipped from different companies. I came up with my own idea, which is “second shirt ships free”, and i just set the cost of additional shirt shipping to $0 on all my tees. The print company cost for second item is always really low, and this way I still recover some of the shipping charge.

  • @theunconciousmind7314

    I can only talk of myself. If i was buying an item on the past and i saw high shipping price, i'd always skip it and look for a cheaper shipping option.. so i think free shipping is a yes defenitly if you run ads.
    I think a click to conversion rate is higher with free shipping...
    And another reason for free shipping is:
    If i am the buyer and i want to buy the product for sure, and i click on it and its free shipping, i buy it. Without overthinking.

  • @SportsSimp
    @SportsSimp 6 месяцев назад +1

    You know, after taking away free shipping and adjusting my prices accordingly, I think that might have just been the problem for no sales all this time.
    My prices look so much more appealing, and it looks as if Etsy automatically offers free shipping when you buy two items, that or it’s already preset to that, which is what I prefer anyways.
    I’ll be posting soon hopefully if that was the problem the whole time ❤

    Thank you Heather for sharing that. This video is exactly what I needed to hear, I have been thinking what you just shared in this video I just viewed. I know that as a shopper I myself try to find the best value and when I find something and put it in my cart, sometimes the shipping charges don't really matter to me, because we all know there is going to be shipping. I think maybe one advantage to free shipping would be a good example for is I have one product that is sold as a set of multiples of 10 or more and that may be advantageous to the customer to not have to pay higher shipping overall for multiple products that I have to input on a manual basis if that makes sense. Thanks again!

    As a new shop that is about to launch in a few days, I wonder what the best strategy is since I won't have any sales or ratings. Would, in that case, free shipping help instead of a discount? it's quite difficult to offer T-shirts under 20$ (after a discount) while being competitive. I suppose at the beginning the most important is to be validated. Some shops sell at crazy price tags and they apply 40% off. It's a bit disingenuous but if people buy it...

  • @NicoleEivissa
    @NicoleEivissa Год назад

    Wow this is the best advice on the topic!!! idk why the only opinion I came across was always the one about customer’s psychology seeing “free” shipping as something to more like to choose. But there as you say is also the psychology of comparing the item’s price that needs to be considered! (Yes people are not stupid to count item’s total price in a cart :)) I experienced sometimes the “free” shipping as higher than if it was with paid shipping because if every item has free shipping from the same seller, then shipping for EACH item separately has to be included in that every item which means i pay more at the end. I’m personally turned off by high shipping when it comes to small stuff that clearly doesn’t offer tracking or the competition has lower price being based in the same country (jewelry, stickers etc.) But I’m happy to pay for shipping if I consider it “reasonable”. Thanks so much for the video, I’ve learned a lot and will apply it!!🫶

    So, if you choose to do the free shipping on orders $35 or more, do you add the shipping fees to all your products still since not all of your customers will be buying $35 worth of things, but they will be paying for the shipping fees that you tacked on and they'll be paying for their shipping fee? Some customers end up paying double the shipping.

      I think if you have the general “an order above $35” free shipping, then they will have to pay for the shipping if it drops below 35. But if it’s the shipping PROFILE set as one with free shipping for that one specific listing, it will stay with free shipping even if it’s on sale and below 35. That’s the way I understand it. Pretty much change all to "Free Shipping" in US & "Charged Shipping" everywhere else. Why? US is a weird place with poor education where nothing makes sense. Mostly because of the corporations who run the country & deliberately input changes that make people dumber for ease of control. The dumber the population, the easier they fall for marketing schemes.
    In rest of the world, charging for shipping is normal & no ones thinks twice about it. People are also smart enough to double check shipping prices if they seem too steep. So you better make fair prices.
