    Heather, I am so happy I ran across you videos. I am new to POD and Etsy and in the past 2 months have made 3 sales with my shop being open 3 months. Now I am getting so much more info and excellent tips and strategies from you. I have taken Udemy Classes, as well as following some others on You tube. However, I find your tutorials more realistic, honest, and encouraging. I am retired (over 65), and really want this to work so that I can quit working outside my home. Thank you Heather for your knowledge and help.

    So happy to see someone finally call out this clickbaiting as a bad thing to do and not encourage others to do it like so many other YTers do. I have a simple philosophy; I treat my potential customers how I want to be treated. I refuse to clickbait people and I even call out in my photocards that I offer fair and transparent pricing.
    BTW The worst I saw so far was a listing for t-shirts that had one item that was a freaking covid mask, so that they had a 4.99+ label.

      Yep, fees on Etsy are huge, extremly high... I sold hoodie for 44.84$, and Etsy gave me only 35.69$, thats more than 9$ fee, thats more than 20% fees.

    Ugh! This is so frustrating as a seller and a customer! I definitely believe in prioritizing the customer experience on a site like Etsy. While this strategy may work to get some quick sales, I don’t think it fosters a relationship with a return customer.

    @heatherstudio Great video and thank you. The one thing I have an issue with this is that If you price in between and you use Printify like I do, the profit margin changes and some items may give you like 4.99 profit which is very low. Then you are screwed paying the other fees from Etsy once you get your 4.99 profit from Printify. Because when you price on Printify it only calculates what they are charging, but not what Etsy charges. Which is like another $3 to $4 depending on how you market it. I rather set the Profit to $10 or more instead of pricing it to one specific price to compete with others. Yes, your items will be over priced in some cases depending on sizes and colors, but that's the risk you take because you are using a provider like Printify. Correct me if I'm wrong please. It is very hard out here now in 2023. Especially with shirts and sweatshirts. I also started selling Digital products because, that's what's trending now.

    Thank you for sharing your strategies. I have a question about the 15% Etsy ads you can opt out of. My guess is that as a new Etsy POD store, we shouldn't opt into this so we can keep sales lower but on the flip side, to get more exposure a new shop may want to opt in. I keep going back and forth, turn on turn off turn on again. I don't remember seeing anything on any of your videos about which way to go. Can you shed any light on this topic? BTW - after watching hundreds of videos this year, you are my 'go to' channel now. You have great information and have helped not only me but I am sure many others. A big shout out to you, Heather!

There is a significant difference between the shipping costs. (currently 5.59 and 8,79 respectively). Should I charge the average of both? or? thanks

    I found a Father’s Day listing that was doing really well. It was a text design with a quote about being a dad. I clicked to see how they were selling it so cheap and they had a baby vest on there. If I was a customer this would have really annoyed me. How many babies out there are dads 🤣🤣 they could have at least used a mug or something 🙈

    That formula sounds great but I live in Poland where I'm charged 23% VAT on all Etsy fees and ad spend so I ended up just making a calculator on Google Sheets to ensure I price my items such that I make a minimum profit of $3, going up to a 30% profit, whatever that may be, in addition to researching the most common prices. I want to ensure my price is reasonable but that I STILL get a profit from it.

    I have a question I cannot seem to get a good answer from online! Do you think it is distasteful to customers if an Etsy seller sells different sized tshirts for different prices (Charging more for XX2 and XX3)? Or do you think it would be better to take the mean production price for S-XXXL and charge the median price for all short sizes??

    Heather girl, you explained that so well and I have made two sales in one month after watching your videos. But I haven't made profit because of the printing fees, there is a $5.85 production fee for the two items I sold and it eats up all my profit. How can I figure out my pricing with this fee? With making my mugs $30 😭

    • @wdaccessorydotcom2629
      @wdaccessorydotcom2629 Год назад

      Production fee 5.85 for each one on pod???

    • @BDTStudio
      @BDTStudio Год назад +5

      Say a mug with 5.85 production cost is priced at $15 plus customer-paid shipping of 4.99, for a total customer cost of 19.99, it comes out like this. Listing fee 0.20 + transaction fee 1.30 + payment processing fee 0.85. So total fees 2.85. Selling price 19.99 (15.00 + 4.99 shipping) less total costs 9.34 (production cost + shipping), less Etsy fees of 2.85 gives a profit of $8.30. You do not need to price a mug at $30 to make a profit.

    I literally just commented on another yt channel about this particular strategy. I’ve been a customer of Etsy a few times before looking for stuff to buy way before I even thought about getting into e-commerce. Heck even prior to knowing e-commerce ran by regulars was a thing. I got so frustrated. Personally I think it’s dishonest and deceiving to do something like that. I know it says plus at the end and most people will not notice that means prices starting from 7.99. Yeah is on the buyer but also to only have one item at the price is dishonest. There’s a better way to do.
    Before I watch the intro, i would personally just price a group the same price. Like greyscale colors the lowest. Regular colors mid. Special (neon or patterned) colors higher. I wouldn’t clickbait a toddler size shirt that would barely get sales bc it’s probably not even for a tot.
