If you do "free" shipping (increasing your product price to "include" shipping) be aware that Etsy takes a commission based on your total selling price, so they are earning commission on your shipping AND product if you do "free" shipping. This is why Etsy pushes sellers to do free shipping - they earn more. I sell vintage fur coats. Shipping can easily cost anywhere from $40 - $150 on a heavy coat shipping internationally. I don't want Etsy to take their approximately 20% commission on that shipping rate. In my opinion, it is not worth it to do free shipping, especially if you ship worldwide.

Your videos are great! I sell decals as well and I agree the free shipping can be annoying especially for the small/light weight items. If I sell a decal for $3 but it costs $2 to ship, its a big difference to roll it into the price as some products could be basically doubling the price of the item. Customers scan quickly, so if they see something that looks over priced they move on quickly even with free shipping. I use a small fixed rate as well. I'd be interested in a video if you have tried Etsy ADs! I just did it for a month at 2 different "budgets" and it was a very interesting to see what happens :)

I don't use regular stamps anymore as too many envelopes with my small paper product were untrackable, and got lost= never arriving! Etsy needs to offer First Class options for smaller weighing items.

After I purchase the shipping label and put it on the package what do I do? Do I take you to the post office and do I have to pay again when I get to the post office if I have the shipping label on?
If you have purchased it online, then all you need to do afterwards is take the parcel with the label on to the post office. They always weigh it again when I go but that's all. They won't charge you twice as It's a pre-paid label. If you're in the UK, ask for a proof of postage receipt as well. As they'll need this in case the item gets lost and/or damaged. I'm not sure if the US has a similar thing or not. Kind Regards.
All I can get free off of USPS is free priority mailing stuff. I have to buy the First Class mailers. So I just go on Amazon and order padded envelopes.

How does the customer only have to pay for that one shipping instead of additional two separate shipping‘s that Etsy automatically charges. Do I send a refund or not. I’m just thinking that a happy customer getting a discount on the shipping is going to be a returning customer or a good referral. Or am I the only one as the owner who saves on the shipping.
I always refund them and ship together if they purchase two different times and pay for shipping twice if its within a reasonable time frame. Usually if you have your shipping set up to be free over a certain limit it helps with situations like this too 😊

However, I recently had an issue with my store, I received a 4 item order from Malaysia, my print retailers are based in the USA so it was an international order for me. I am charged US$ 44.50 for the shipping (as it should be considering the shipping rates of Printify), why the customer is only charged US$ 30.80 by Etsy where it should've been US$ 42.60 as per my calculations and as per the shipping rates I've put up on Etsy. The difference of US$ 13.70 is what I've paid from my own pocket... Do you have any idea how this happened? I don't really rely on Etsy support, it's very poor, I am just completely clueless and I'm really afraid if that happens again, I won't be able to afford such losses! I would really appreciate your any help, thank you. ✨

Thank you very much for your awesome video it was extremely helpful. I’m wanting to know if a customer purchases a couple items and I could just do one shipping label and combined the items. How does the customer only have to pay for that one shipping instead of additional two separate shipping‘s that Etsy automatically charges. Do I send a refund or not. I’m just thinking that a happy customer getting a discount on the shipping is going to be a returning customer or a good referral. Or am I the only one as the owner who saves on the shipping.
I always refund them and ship together if they purchase two different times and pay for shipping twice if its within a reasonable time frame. Usually if you have your shipping set up to be free over a certain limit it helps with situations like this too 😊

I have an Etsy shop and sometimes the rate that Etsy suggests for shipping is a bit off. How do you reconcile the difference? If Etsy suggest shipping will cost $8 and charge that to the customer but then it only costs $7 to ship?

I charge a flat rate price, and free shipping over $35 (i factor in the cost into the product)

What Etsy should say is that before you become a seller you need to purchase a damn SCALE to weigh your items Because it won’t even let you make a listing without knowing that information
Hi and thanks for the info! I'm new - and still don't get "free shipping"/and the profile where you enter what will be charged for shipping. In your video you say Etsy will automatically add the shipping amount you enter in the profile. So, does Etsy add that amount on to the price of my item? It seems counterintuitive to me. If I price my item to include shipping costs, why would Etsy add another shipping amount?

Hi does the fixed prices are useful? Because even though we fix prices as we offer free shipping on etsy shop these profiles will go to free shipping right. Can you please explain us how to avoid free shipping for fixed prices for shipping on etsy.

I am so intimidated by Etsy shipping. I am a new seller. I am selling t-shirts with designs on them. Some RUclipsrs say offer free shipping; some say don’t. I still don't understand. If I offer free shipping, how do I know the amount to increase my product price if each state would be a different shipping price, do you just add the highest price such as California is the farthest from me? Also, if I choose not to offer free shipping, would I just do a shipping profile and offer the customer different upgrades? When you mentioned charging extra for upgrades, does the extra charge go to you or to USPS? Can someone please explain the fixed/calculated rate? I know a lot was explained in the video, but I just want to be sure I got this right. This is truly frustrating. I can't even call Etsy and speak to a real person. When I email them, I don't get good answers back most of the time, just links to articles that still leave me confused. I have to come to the YT comment section and "hope" someone will help me, and that's hit or miss. Thanks.

However, I recently had an issue with my store, I received a 4 item order from Malaysia, my print retailers are based in the USA so it was an international order for me.
I am charged US$ 44.50 for the shipping (as it should be considering the shipping rates of Printify), why the customer is only charged US$ 30.80 by Etsy where it should've been US$ 42.60 as per my calculations and as per the shipping rates I've put up on Etsy.
The difference of US$ 13.70 is what I've paid from my own pocket...
Do you have any idea how this happened?
I don't really rely on Etsy support, it's very poor, I am just completely clueless and I'm really afraid if that happens again, I won't be able to afford such losses!
