    I'm testing this right now. A 1% shop owner who does an expensive paid course recommends not offering free shipping but using the $35+ option. Her logic is that it encourages more sales by incentivizing the customer to buy at least 2 items per order. I implemented that method about a year ago and found that it did increase my sales in that way. However, I know that nothing is permanent and I like to make sure I'm using current best practices. So I have one full collection on free shipping and I'll see what happens over the next 30 days. I'm planning to transition from Printful to Printify (but I'm currently in my 2nd trimester with baby #5 and a little too mentally exhausted to complete this monumental task. 😂). The benefit was that last month Printful paid your shipping costs if you agreed to turn on free shipping in your shop. It was a great month! Lol Their goal was to prove that free shipping works in increasing sales. But, ironically my sales increased after their promo ended and I went back to my paid shipping profile. 🤷🏽‍♀️ They're lowering their product costs this month too, btw, so I guess they're getting hit hard with so many people jumping ship to printify and other platforms.
    Thanks for covering this topic. More data is always helpful.

    Thank you for this video! I started doing free shipping in the middle of last year and initially my sales did well but after a slump from March this year, I started charging again. What I found when offering free shipping was that people would only buy one item from me. Now that I've reintroduced postage costs, I'm getting customers ordering more than one item again.

    Thank you for this content, very interesting! I have been seriously debating about the shipping the last few days. I have free shipping on all my items and I just adjusted prices in my shops to compensate. As a shopper, I hate paying for shipping so I thought that was the way to go. However, when I see my products against others on the search pages, mine LOOK much more expensive (even if they are actually priced competitively!) Seems like there is a lot of shopper psychology behind this - what do they want more, a lower initial price or free shipping? I actually have two shops for different niches, so I think I will turn off the free shipping for one of the shops and see what happens. Thanks again Cassiy, your videos are always super helpful!

    Hi Cassiy, I've been following your videos avidly, you're doing a great job helping us wannabe Etsy entrepreneurs - many many thanks!
    So, yesterday, I followed your instructions step by step, set up my Etsy shop, connected to Printify, set up payments, started work on shop settings and bang! less than 24 hours later, with no rhyme or reason, Etsy suspend my account. Notwithstanding which, they didn't even honor the 40 free listings through your link that I followed.
    I decided to start this print on demand gig to pay my hospital bills and as a replacement for my usual job which I can no longer do because of ill health. Even if my appeal is successful Etsy have built in a costly delay of a couple weeks. I've also heard from others that Etsy can be quite arbitrary in suspending accounts and most shop owners can expect a suspension at some time or another. Perhaps this issue could be a topic for one of your super videos? Thank you for everything you do - Here's to your next million!

      Make sure that none of your products or tags have a copyright in it. Someone once said they took a picture of their model with a Coach bag against their created t-shirt and they got suspended. It took her a long time to figure that out but all she did was replace the questionable image and she got reinstated. I didn't get suspended but one of my designs 'disappeared' from Printify because the shipping info wasn't jiving between them and Etsy. Printify has the worst customer service so if you can figure it out on your own or through these RUclips videos you're better off. I was on the phone with them for 3 hours to finally conclude I had to set everything up while on Chrome. You probably need to double check your settings to find the cause. Hang in there you'll figure it out!

But just like the post indicated, it was fine before but one day the shop went dead. In revenue for 3 years the sales total revenu is 75k. I don’t know if it’s a coincidence but it seems to be best without the free shipping over 35$. I can’t do free shipping for the POD because I ship to Canada and the US and price of shipping is more for Canada so it wouldn’t be fair for my US buyers.

    • @CassiyJohnson
      @CassiyJohnson  11 месяцев назад +2

      It definitely makes sense to charge a little more for 2X and up since they cost you more money, you really only need a few extra dollars per item to help make it more profitable for you. As for charging for shipping, your friends aren't the people you want to do your research on, do they even shop on Etsy for example? Go do some research for yourself on what is currently working on the platform. Find some stores that have opened in the last 1-2 years and study what they are doing for their shipping prices and product prices. If you find 10-20 stores, I think you'll see MOST people are charging for shipping at least $3-$7, so this means that people are more than willing to pay it! I try to always make my decisions based on the research if that makes sense, then you never have to guess or go off of your own feelings!

    Do you have a video detailing the actual cost of running a print on demand business? Like for example, if a customer orders a shirt, Printify charges your personal card to make the order. Then Etsy "pays you back" whenever they pay you, which occurs Maxximum only once a week. So for example, if you sold 20 shirts for $20 each in one week (plus $5 for shipping so $25), you would have to pay $500 and wait until the following Monday to be "paid back" by Etsy. Hopefully, the way I worded that made sense.
    Honestly, it can be very discouraging. Especially since POD is label to be a "low start up cost" business

    • @CassiyJohnson
      @CassiyJohnson  Год назад

      Here is a video I did on the start up costs ruclips.net/video/0uYFmlTGh0k/видео.html
      You only have to get paid once weekly for your first 90 days, after that you can change it to pay you daily! Usually you aren't going to be selling tons and tons of shirts each week in the beginning anyways and you could just start one but not really list anything for the first few months if you are worried about it or sell a digital product to start in your store instead. I always just put the charges on a credit card anyways, that way by time you need to pay the bill, you've already been paid back by Etsy anyways.
      There is always going to be something not ideal or hard about starting a business, no matter which one you pick. So you just have to decide if this one is worth it for you or not!

    I offer free shipping on orders over $35. I’ve been debating on turning it off this week though since I’m only breaking even on hoodies as of now. The reason being they are just over $35 with my sale pricing and shipping them out of pocket means I don’t really make anything on those. I don’t have a ton of hoodies listed for that reason but one of my shop’s bestsellers is a hoodie. It’s unfortunate that I haven’t made any money on that though 😅. When I went to turn off the shipping guarantee on Etsy this weekend, that message popped up like “are you sure?” lol they remind you that it helps boost your business and so I couldn’t bring myself to do it 😅 I raised my price by $5. Better than nothing but still not a great profit margin 😬 I don’t know what to do about it except to continue not to focus on hoodies? I can’t imagine anyone would want to pay that much for one in order to make a decent profit but I’m afraid to mess with my store’s current flow. I started last year and things have been slowly but steadily improving each month.

    Definitely got me thinking of charging shipping now. Still a new shop but up to 7 sales now. Grinding to 100 lol. I do wonder how it would affect shirt duos like mommy and me shirts. Because printify charges shipping on the second shirt too but not as much. Do you know anything about doing the additional shipping charge? Like how much someone should charge?

    Hi Cassiy I would love a video from you on shipping preference. All the shipping is confusing to say the least. Do I use USPS or FEDEX? Sometimes it requires 1-7 days shipping and then it says USPS is 2-5 days, but I don't want a customers product to be late. Any advice would be extremely helpful! Thanks 💚💚

    Thanks, Cassiy. I'm definitely inclined to try it. I've been running a series of experiments, one by one, in my shop this year, and charging for shipping was on my list to do in the near future. I wonder if it makes sense to start it with a section or two, or particular type item, and see how it goes? I guess I'm a little nervous of changing the whole shop at once 🙂

    Hi Cassiy, I use SwiftPOD as my print provider but they have two fulfillment centers. One in CA and the other one in TX. Which of the two should I use in my shipping profile? I understand I need to put the correct zip code so that Etsy can provide correct shipping ETAs to customers. Hoping for your respons.

    • @CassiyJohnson
      @CassiyJohnson  Год назад +1

      I would just choose California probably since I notice most items getting shipped from there. You are the one that is going to set the range for the shipping time and then the shipping tracking number will be shared with them automatically so they will have an exact information of when it will come.

    Hi,
    I have a question regarding your other videos. If I save a phrase or graphic on canva to upload to printify using the jpeg, how can I get a transparent background? The background isn’t a issue for black or white shirts, but it is if I want to use other shirt colors. When I download with the png option and upload it to printify it says my upload is only a medium resolution and not a high resolution. Thank you for all of your videos I actually started an etsy shop because of your tutorials.

    Hi Cassiy! I know this video is about shipping, however, I have a question regarding mockups, and color selections. I am interested in purchasing mockups that offer all colors, with size charts however, I noticed that the "names of colors on the t-shirts are printful names." Can I still use them for printify shirts?
    For example printifys "Bella Canvas 3001" orange shirt is named "Orange." While the chart and mockups that I want to purchase are referring to printful colors such as "burnt orange, heather orange, autum." I am really confused because I don't want to purchase the wrong mockup color selections that essentially do not match printify color selections, if this makes sense.
    Could you please assist me with this?

    Hello Cassiy , I started my store on 1st April and have listed around 250 items. Etsy says (on payment account page) that I have $55.83 due and my shop will be suspended if I don't pay it by May 22. I thought we were charged for listings every 4th month. I don't understand why Etsy is asking me to pay the amount after one month of starting my store. Could you please let me know what could be the issue here? I feel discouraged since I have only made 1 sale in 1 and a half month and I already have a $55.83 bill to pay.

Because I use several different providers from Printify I learned the hard way when I wasn't offering free shipping. I got a really big order that just happened to be from 3 different providers. The shipping cost was sooooooo expensive. Luckily this was from a friend. I refunded some of her shipping. Now that I include the free shipping on all my listings, at least I get paid for shipping. My profit is less because I have to watching the listing cost. Thoughts?

    I am so confused as to how some of these shops are offering free shipping and also pricing their shirts at what looks to me like $1 or $2 profit to them. I just feel like I can't price my shirts competitively enough. I have been doing free shipping and pricing my Bella and Canvas shirts at 24.95 to 28.95 for the 2x+ sizes. It looks like all of mine are on the very high end of pricing. Figuring out the right pricing is so frustrating.

    • @CassiyJohnson

      You re probably mainly seeing peoples "low display price" like I showed in this video. But keep in mind two things
      1. Some people aren't doing print on demand and have lower costs to fulfill but are doing all the work behind the scenes
      2. You don't have to be the lowest price. If you only compete on price then what are you really offering. You want to be competitive but just being as cheap as other people won't get you the sales. Adding value to the search results and making great designs will get you the sales!
      Here is another video I made on how to compete with the low prices of other sellers ruclips.net/video/DSdBNp2nZuk/видео.html
