@@wtfamievendoing well I thought so until I saw my prices on etsy went down lower, and I'm frantically now changing my prices back before starting my real job that pays my rent. This is helpful! I'm in Australia, planning to launch a POD store selling to the US only. It's a shame that the EU/UK have such red tape because my product is perfect for the UK, but I refuse to publicly display my address and phone number (required by law if you sell from/to the EU/UK).
This was great video - thank you - I do have question though as it was not discussed in video except for the brief suggestion at the beginning to "be honest about where you live and do business from" (:50 mark). So - I live in Australia and I have marked such under the "Account/Location" settings; BUT I do not ship from Australia - I SHIP from a Printify supplier in the USA (because customer will get their item way quicker if sent from a POD supplier in their own country). So because my POD supplier ships from the USA then shouldn't I be putting a USA location under the shipping profile section not Australia? If I don't put a USA location under the shipping profile then apparently my listing will not show up in any USA search results. I just want to get it correct from the beginning so that there are no issues with Etsy thinking I am being dishonesst.
As far as I've seen, there are two different settings for location: one is in your main account settings (which has to be set on Australia), and the other setting is for each product individually, they will have to show the location of the printer (which will be the US). Your "shop location" will not necessarily be visible to customers (unless you choose to), while the item's shipping location will be. @wtfamievendoing, @anyone else, please correct me if I'm wrong?
@@feliciawilkinson6052 Hey! Answered you in the comment on my channel but I'll add it here to so everyone can see it in here too: Happy to help! What do you mean about the public profile, I'm not following. We need to disclose which production partners we use which will then be displayed publicly in our about section. In the information about the production partner you only need to provide them with the info about the POD partner in question, so if the POD partner is in Arizona you would put the Arizona address in the production partner information as that's the information they're requesting. In the shipping profile where they ask for country of origin (the country you're shipping from) this would be the US if the POD partner that's associated with the shipping profile is shipping from the US.
A question for Andreas please, I’m in the U.K. and sell only in US. I have my shop currency set to GBP, what should I set my printify currency to ? GBP or USD? I use my UK credit card in printify to cover my transactions. Thank you 😊
Hi, I have a question, If you don't mind. Could you please tell me which credit card is recommended in UK to use for ETSY and Printify to have a minimum conversion rate?
Cassiy, I’m a long time Etsy seller from Canada who wants to now only sell to the US and Etsy will not allow me to remove the selection of my own country in the shipping profile. It states “you must ship to the country you live in.” So how do I get around this??
Hi Cassiy, Huge fan of you and your videos , Have been watching and following you since i started my shop this year , I am on 210 sales now, slow progress but i am determine to make this a success. My customers ping me all the time after they have placed the order asking to refund because they see that i am in Australia and then i have to explain to them that my products are manufactured and shipped from USA. This is inspite of me having a mockup explaining clearly my manufacturing and shipping. Any advice on how to resolve this ?
Hello, Cassiy thanks for this video. Andreas Thanks for the information, live in Germany. I would like to know if I want to sell only in the United States, should I change the currency on Etsy? I have had my store for 3 months and I think Etsy does not show my products in the USA, only here and I only have 7 sales. Another question: my credit card is in Euros, does this conversion affect the prices?
Glad you liked the video! As I mention there in the video, if you have your store's currency in any other currency than the one that's in your bank then you would incur a 2.5% conversion fee. Customers always view their prices depending on where they live, so even though you might have your German currency in your store, someone in the US would still view your store in USD. I think that depends on which currency you have set in Printify and if the credit card you use has conversion fees on it. Here in Sweden most credit cards have a 1-2% conversion fee for foreign currencies
The problem with having your shop currency set to your local (non US) currency is that you have absolutely no control over what the price is in USD due to FX rate changes. Unless you want to be regularly updating your prices to align with the current rate that is.
The easy fix to that is to have high margins, if you go for 2-4$ profit pricing margins then yes that would be a problem. But if you go for profit margins in the 30-40% percentile then you don't have to think about that at all
I'd also like the same advice. I have my own website, as Etsy was glitching and wouldn't let me open a shop. On Printify the currency is in USD, my website is in CAD. I sold 2 canvas bags and a hoodie and only made $18 CAD when all was said and done. I need to be making more, but don't know how with the conversation between USD and CAD.
Hi Cassiy, I have more of a question than a comment. I am having trouble publishing from my Printify account to my Etsy store. I was wondering/hoping that you could help me? I have been in contact with the support staff from both ends and we all still cannot solve the issue. I thought I might reach out to you first before I delete both accounts, make new ones and start all over. Thank you for all the videos and information relating to print to ship models, I have learned a lot. I am eager to start my own venture into this space after seeing your success! I would be more than happy to pay you for any time set aside to help. I just have some questions, and would like to talk to an actual person (not some bot) with experience. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
Confused 😅 So my shop listing currency is set to USD, bank in EURO. How and where can you check the amount of 2.5% conversion fee you've paid so far? It's not listed under 'fees' on my payment account (where your listing, transaction, processing, etc -fees are displayed). When switching from USD to €, will US costumers keep seeing somewhat the same, original listing prices? I've seen people here commenting they had to manually re-price each listing and variants which would be horrific. Also, I've red somewhere that your Star Seller stats will reset to zero after you've changed your shop currency(!?) Can someone confirm? Thank you
I think I replied to this but not sure why it's not here, sorry if I missed it! The conversion fee should be listed under fees, I haven't incurred that myself so I'm not sure where it is. But there should be a conversion fee if your store's currency differs from the currency that's in your bank. It probably would switch to the exchange rate on the day, so there can definitely be some kind of issues with changing. Easiest way to change prices that I use frequently is to use a software called Vela, then you can just apply a template (called a profile in Vela) to the listings you wanna change prices to. Then these listings will all have the variations entered in the template Never heard about the star seller stats resetting, it only refers to customer service so it shouldn't be affected logically. But not sure, haven't done this change myself
Yes, in order to have a business you need a business bank account. Mixing up sole proprietorship business expenses with private ones is definitely not recommended as it gets tangled up with your private expenses. With an LLC it is required
I can slur a little bit sometimes hah, sorry about that! In Germany they have something called a Lucid Packaging Register. You would need to register with that in order to ship orders to Germany. If you don't and sell to recipient's in Germany specifically, you can face up to 100,000€ in fines. European countries all have these specific regulations, like here in Sweden we have a 14-day right of withdrawal. There's so many things that resembles pitfalls so the easiest way is to just focus on the US since that's the biggest market + the easiest market admin wise.
You can get that LUCIDE number free on their page but after that you are obliged to get a licence from the recycling company which will charge you depending on the volumes of the goods you ship to Germany. The minimum price for 1 year licence is about 46€ including VAT and that's enough for a small business. The only problem is that if you buy that license now, it will be valid until the end of the calendar year and you pay the full price. In January you will have to buy it again for the 2025 year.
@@wtfamievendoing You are welcome!😊 Yes, it's always better to avoid additional complications, but I sell physical items from Europe and have large amount of orders from Germany, 1/3 from the total amount, so I prefer to get possibility to sell to Germany. Anybody here from Canada? I just created my Etsy shop but I have not applied for a SOLE proprietor whatever the name is or VAT. Can someone from Canada explain that to me? Even if I don't sell anything I still need to have one?
Hi! I'm in Canada and I had my settings set to USD, but I just changed it to CAD and now the prices are all messed up. I want to keep the prices the same because I'm only selling to the US. How can I ensure my prices display correctly as the USD conversion while my store settings are in my country's currency?
Unfortunately, I just asked Customer Service at Etsy, and they said that if the product price is different for each item, then we have to edit it manually. :((
@@mandy9959 im not sure if this is the correct answer, Perhaps the way to see the accurate price in USD is, you have to calculate manually. Example: your product is currently displayed at $27. With your product that has been converted to CAD C$36.45 (in your listing). while you want the price to be displayed at $25. So what needs to be calculated in my opinion is only how much the conversion is. 36,45 : 27 = 1,35. So $1 = C$1.35. To get the display price of $25. You only need to multiply 1.35 x 25 = 33.75. So you have to change your listing price to C$33.75. Try to test one item first. If it is accurate, then you can apply it to other products.
Hey! So the prices will be somewhat differently displayed dependant on the exchange rate but the way that I usually see it and the way that I've done this profitably is to ensure that I have the margins I need to have no matter the currency. How I would view displaying prices correctly would be to ensure that you hit the margins you need to hit. If you hit the margins you need to hit then you're good! Prices doesn't always have to end with .99 or something like that for instance, it's okay if it's a tad different as the value is in the listing's design and its offer. The thing to take note of is that if you display your store currency in USD you pay a whopping 2.5% extra to Etsy for something that really doesn't matter to the end consumer (at least not in my experience it has not affected it as I usually have a 5-6% conversion rate).
I haven't but I would definitely be wary of it as a lot of countries has their own specific regulations around this stuff and to avoid possible fines you'd need to be up to speed with all those regulations. The US is definitely the easiest to just rely on as it's the biggest market with the biggest ROI for your time spent
@@aarav__15 Took me over 3 months to get my first 100 sales but then the more I got better, the quicker I was able to progress. Last year I did 6 figures in profits and $580K in revenue just on Etsy I put up several thousands of listings with that mindset, it doesn't really work. You need high quality listings based on research and with those, you tend to have about 20% that sell well. And then about 10-20% of those that sell well will be the few listings that carry your store. So there isn't a number really you need to hit but more of a skill level. The more listings you put up and the more you reflect on what works and what doesn't the better you get. And the better you get the more sales you get

Hey, thought I could chime in here! I found a help article from Etsy themselves that says this: "as of November 2023, new sellers located in India will not be able to open shops on Etsy. Shops located in India that are already open can continue selling."
So I don't think you can open up new shops in India unfortunately but don't forget Shopify! That is a huge opportunity that you probably could pivot to!
@@wtfamievendoing but Shopify is expensive?
@@aparnatiwari8430 Not if you're doign it well, Etsy is also very expensive time wise since you'd need to learn a lot to get good at it. But in your case it sounds at least from what I'm hearing that that's the best bet. Chris Heckman here on RUclips is great in the POD Shopify space as well so there's lots of things you can takeaway there to really set yourself up for success

@@luckyme6771 oh nooo :( how we can determine the right conversion to display the price accurately in USD? I’m literally crying right now
@@mandy9959 im not sure if this is the correct answer, Perhaps the way to see the accurate price in USD is, you have to calculate manually.
@@wtfamievendoing I appreciate your help, thank you so much ☺️
I live in the US, and i want to try to sell to the rest of Latam and Canada. Do you have any of your students who sell to those countries?
I haven't but I would definitely be wary of it as a lot of countries has their own specific regulations around this stuff and to avoid possible fines you'd need to be up to speed with all those regulations. The US is definitely the easiest to just rely on as it's the biggest market with the biggest ROI for your time spent
There are Canadian printers in Printify. It seems they follow the country’s regulations for product and shipping.
Australia not India have GST
That's what they said. Australia have GST
So does Canada
People from outside US not getting sales 😢
Yeah, just $1M in revenue 🙃
@@wtfamievendoing how long it's takes to get 1000 sales & how much listing required to get good amount of sales
@@aarav__15 Took me over 3 months to get my first 100 sales but then the more I got better, the quicker I was able to progress. Last year I did 6 figures in profits and $580K in revenue just on Etsy
I put up several thousands of listings with that mindset, it doesn't really work.
And the better you get the more sales you get
Hi Cassiy, I just applied the currency change in my store, and when I changed the currency, it turned out that the price was increased and did not match what I set when I set the currency to USD. so I have to edit them one by one :(
Same 😔
@@mandy9959 So sorry to hear that! It's definitely a blow in the short term but it will save you massively in the long term! If you use Vela then that could save you a lot of time on fixing this. U can create a template (called a profile) and then this template holds all the variations, prices etc for one listing. Then you can apply this template to all the listings you wanna change, it's what I've used to switch prices effectively, hopefully that can ease it up a bit!
@@mandy9959 @luckyme6771 That sucks guys! Did not see that coming as I haven't ever changed it myself, but I use a software called Vela to easily apply prices to multiple listings. If you feel like you wanna fix it fast, then I'd recommend digging into that program!

Does anyone else pay the VAT on fees? I applied for the VAT number but they declined it and said I can't deduct the VAT on fees because the transactions are not subject to VAT and I only have VAT on input and not on output. Please help @wtfamievendoing
Hey, I think I answered this on the comment you made on my channel, hope that helps!
