    Hello. I am modeller but know nothing about 3D printing. So you buy the model 3D code and the resin materials, can you do individual parts in different colours? Can you print it more than once?

    • @ScaleModelExperiment
      @ScaleModelExperiment  16 дней назад +1

      There are two types of resin printers: Filament and liquid resin. I use the liquid resin type. They are better for VERY fine detail down to .01mm the other type is Filament style which is better for large durable objects like tools and displays. The liquid resin requires you to change the liquid resin tank to a different color liquid. The filament style can print different colors easier with a different color spool of plastic wire. Yes once you purchase a file you can print it as many times as you want. They only ask that you don’t give away or sell the files or prints.

    Never trust scales dude! One cannot simply adjust scale %, one MUST get the real world dimensions and verify with the measure tool in ones program of choice.

      I plan to mock one up for a test fit into the chassis. Something tells me that it isn’t going to fit.

    I’ve switched to water washable ABS like resin from Sunlu. I’ll never turn back !! Messing with alcohol and dealing with resin contaminated alcohol is a BIG PAIN IN THE YOU KNOW WHAT. Water with a few drops of detergent in the Elegoo wash/cure station, followed up with a hot water rinse then cure is the only way to go. Difference in detail ?? I’ve noticed very very little difference. Quality stl files give excellent results. My own creations using TinkerCad give slightly diminished detail. That’s a rendering issue, NOT a resin issue. My 2 cents worth 👍🏼👍🏼

    • @ScaleModelExperiment
      @ScaleModelExperiment  15 дней назад +1

      That’s another resin I haven’t tried (Sunlu). I’ve heard a lot of people use that as well. I’ll have to try it out.

    Nice comparison. The difference is so close and it sounds like less hassle and chemicals.

    Just my opinion, I have used the alcohol clean resin and I have used the water wash resin from Anycubic, I can honestly say I would give up printing if I had to use the alcohol clean resin. I respect guys that use alcohol, but I didn't like using it.

    • @ScaleModelExperiment

      Hi Terry, thanks for watching. I suppose if I had a couple gallons of the stuff to fill my clean and wash station I’d like it better. But for me it was a lot of unnecessary work to clean the standard. I’ll save it for high detail stuff in the future.

    Great video I really want one as I used to build Airfix aircraft models when I was young. The thing that scares me is the toxic nature of these chemicals, and I feel kind of limited in a bedroom environment I just cant have it in here too risky, can you do a saftey video, where to place a resin printer, should you have a vent out to the outside or leave a window open?

    • @ScaleModelExperiment
      @ScaleModelExperiment  16 дней назад

      I do not recommend having the printer in the same room as you are. I did that for a few months and even with air purifiers and an open window it stunk inside the room. I now have my printer in the basement with a hose running outside to vent the fumes.

    I watched this video as well, I'm not adamant about the water wash and the other thing. Im going to agree with you that you're not going to split hairs and you say that when the parts are primed & painted, it doesn't matter what wash you're using except the water version because clean up is easier. Love the copper painting on the rims and other components👍🏁

    • @ScaleModelExperiment

      I did not run calibration tests. I should have for optimum performance. I used an exposure of 2.4 seconds for all of the resins.

    Nice comparison. I use Elegoo abs like in my printers. I really like it, but I started getting contact dermatitis from the resin. I’ve got a bottle of water wash resin to try it. It would be great to not have to deal with the harsh chemicals and IPA.👍🏼👍🏼

    • @ScaleModelExperiment
      @ScaleModelExperiment  16 дней назад +1

      That’s a good point, it’s not just the resin itself that is so dangerous to work with. Also highly concentrated alcohol can be harmful to you as well. Good luck with the water wash and be safe. Thanks for watching👍

    • @nismojukerich2994
      @nismojukerich2994 3 дня назад

      That's why they tell you to not get it anywhere on your skin. Should ALWAYS use gloves, wear long sleeve shirts, and a mask when working with resin. Water wash or not. It's a sensitizer. You can work with it for months with no effect then all of a sudden one day have adverse effects.
