Thanks for watching and leaving me a comment that you’re enjoying the series. I’ll deep dive next video into the WHY we rotate and what does and doesn’t work.
Another great video James, thanks for sharing. Even though I still don't own a 3D printer, it was great following the process required to place the files, add supports and finally print. Gets me learning what is required when I eventually finally get one 😊
Hi Juan, I believe that water wash is easier and less costly and dangerous only because you don’t have to deal with alcohol. The resin itself is still poison so be careful.
Excellent review Jim! I think I’ll be checking that resin out, especially for smaller parts that can be troublesome getting off the supports due to brittleness. I think I have that calibration file you used…..that is a very good gauge of what’s up with the exposure settings. 👍🏾
Hi James, Great result, it looks really clean. I have a few questions, I see that you have Lychee on your toolbar, what do you think about it? I tried it and I actually liked it better than Chitubox (island detection, for example), I know that many people don't. Can you tell me Why? I didn't check all of your videos but do you explain how to chose support shape, conical head pointy or ball at the end, how deep into the print, ...? When I was doing 3d printing at work, I was really guessing support shape and size without knowing what I was doing, it worked most of the time but I was wondering if there is rules. How much clearance would you recommend to fit parts together? Like for example the distributor, if the wire is 1mm diameter what would be the hole diameter in the distributor to fit the wire comfortably? I'm thinking about getting a printer but I know that in my case it will collect dust most of the time and the resin will expire, I think that for now it makes more sense for me to have Stratasis, Shapeways or Fathom deal with it, it's not that expensive anymore. Although it would be fun to have one (I'm thinking about the small $100 Geeetech alkaid). The funny part is that none of the printer services is cheaper than the other, but sometimes price varies, so it's good to upload in 3 of them every-time to get a good price, sometimes it varies by a lot. I also used FDM printing, I was always puzzled that it couldn't get the printing duration right, most of the time less than anticipated (sometimes by more than an hour on big prints), it got all the info (speed of printing, travel, pause between layers, ...), it's a computer, it should be easy business to calculate all that. Sorry for the long comment, Good continuation, 👋🏻
You give me a lot of credit. I found that the auto support feature was better with Chitubox so that’s why I use that slicer. I’m too lazy/impatient to make my own supports. I’ve never played with support shape or depth, I just use the default 😁 Before I got my first printer I bought a few printed items and then found out how little the files cost soooo I took the dive to do it myself. Take care Yves, I appreciate your support👍
@Yves95128 that’s great that you are getting great results with your printer. When I compare stuff that I printed at 4k vs 12k it’s noticeable finer and more sharp. Just my finding.
Hi Scott, I do not use the island detector option. I am happy with what I’m getting from the printer and haven’t had many failures. When I do have them I know exactly what I did wrong.
Yes, the Elegoo Saturn 4 is a very good printer to start with. It has features like auto leveling and detections to take some human error out of the equation. I recommend it👍
Awesome video James! You may have solved a issue I have had and I was not tilting the angles both ways. Thanks! Question, what glue are you using James? I may look into getting a bottle of that. I use Anycubic water washable and I have always used it. Take care my friend! LLAP 🖖
Very cool. I’m glad you reviewed this. I’m using elegoo and it’s fine, but a little brittle after curing. Do you pull your parts off supports before or after curing? With ABS like one of the perks is its flexibility and ease of coming off supports. I ask because there’s some very small items I cure on supports. Thanks bud.
Hi Big Chef, after washing the parts I soaked them in warm water and the supports literally fell off the parts. I did not prep or sand any of these parts you saw in the engine. Thanks for watching👍
Great video on 3d printing. I'm really enjoying this series.

Really enjoying these 3D resin printing videos James ❤🍻🦘🇦🇺🪃🌨🏔
Thanks bud, I’m glad to help👍
@ScaleModelExperiment you're welcome James 😊 🙏

I’m glad that you found the video helpful Karl👍 thank you for watching brother 😁
Thanks for the video and product link. I will definitely try it.
Thanks for watching, I appreciate your support. Enjoy the resin👍
You do such amazing work. Even though i won't get a 3D printer i still find it interesting on how you do it
Thanks Carl, I wish I had seen my video when I first started printing. This is my way to give back to the hobby ❤️
Great video James, I'm liking the idea of water washable resin.
Hi Juan, I believe that water wash is easier and less costly and dangerous only because you don’t have to deal with alcohol. The resin itself is still poison so be careful.
Great video ! 👍
Thanks so much for watching Bruce👍
Well that looks good
Thanks Travis, I’m glad you liked the video👍

I was suprised of how flexible the parts were even after curing. It’s a cool resin.
Cool James, real nice buddy 👍👍
Thanks so much Hensley👍
will try it! Thank you
Of course! Thanks for watching👍
Beautiful print
Thanks so much! I appreciate you watching 👍
Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching Donnie👍
I need one!
A printer or a VW engine? Hehe

Cool can't wait to see what kind of 3D prints you come up with.
Thanks Pinky, I wanted to showcase the resin and also test the detail level. This is not an 8k resin but it did capture the fine details well.
@@ScaleModelExperiment yeah its looked great 👍🏻
@@ScaleModelExperiment James, I think that 8k is overkill for what we do, don't you? I got great results with 2k
@Yves95128 that’s great that you are getting great results with your printer. When I compare stuff that I printed at 4k vs 12k it’s noticeable finer and more sharp. Just my finding.
@@ScaleModelExperiment Well, perhaps "great results" was a bit exaggerated, let's say "decent with good detail"😊
Thanks for these videos. Question, do you ever use the “detect island” option?
Hi Scott, I do not use the island detector option. I am happy with what I’m getting from the printer and haven’t had many failures. When I do have them I know exactly what I did wrong.
Wow... That 3D printing software looks complex! X)
It really is easy to use once you know the reason you rotate parts. Next review I’ll explain and show the WHY.
enjoy your content and really curious about 3d printing would the ELEGOO Saturn 4 resin 3D printer be a good 1st printer. Thank you
Yes, the Elegoo Saturn 4 is a very good printer to start with. It has features like auto leveling and detections to take some human error out of the equation. I recommend it👍
That's a very nice looking VW engine. Can you share where you got the .stl files from? I couldn't find them on Cults.
Hi Walt, the engine is part of the Street Buggy kit that Blackbox sells. It’s a nice kit with different suspension choices. Thanks for watching 👍
Nice job
Thanks so much for watching👍

I may look into getting a bottle of that. I use Anycubic water washable and I have always used it. Take care my friend!
LLAP 🖖
Hi Bruce, glad to help! The super glue I was using was Bob Smith Industries Super Gold thin. I also like the Anycubic as that is what I started with.

@@ScaleModelExperiment great news thanks. I’ll have to get me a bottle, thank you
Is it a water based resin?
Water washable resin.
Thumbs 👍
Thanks Ronny 👍
Prices are in Canadian for T's
Interesting. I suspect your settings may be set for Canada?
@@ScaleModelExperiment oh ok...
Thought maybe you were Canadian
That would of been kool.
@GrandNational66 I’m in the Cleveland Ohio area.
Thanks for this great video! Lots of details are really useful
Thanks for watching!
