Daniel, I don't think you are old enough, but when I was in elementary school there was a song about a "one-eyed, one-horned, flyin' purple people eater." I thought of that when you lifted your hand off the octopus.
This is an awesome result. Respect to the original artist for this inspirational idea. (Edited to remove emoji)

Hands you a coffee. Dan, I 've noticed you've been getting your 'jords wumbled' a bit lately. Are you getting enough sleep sweetheart? 😂 Wow, the octopus looks absolutely epic! Was thinking if the mold had 'eyes' that could be coloured to bounce color around through the rest of the head? Anyway, your final piece looked absolutely stunning. As for how long I have spent on a little art piece, 6 hours on a love heart mold in one sitting and enjoyed every second. It was so worth it too as it brings back memories of when my sister and I were little and used to build fairy houses together 😊❤

For example you only show eachother some works and the other person tries to recreate the same effect. Kirsty Meaking has a lot of interesting techniques. I am a nailtech and I never had issues with matte topcoat flaking off. Ofc nails are much smaller, but they are also "used" while this piece of art probably wouldnt be put into such stress. And if you are afraid that they might flake off maybe you cound just give it very rough sanding and matte topcoat would stay on better on such surface while giving it eaven finish. Another idea: you can topcoat it with clear uv resin and while it is still sticky apply matt topcoat, then the topcoats could fuse together.
For the tiny details you could get yourself some cheap efile. The nail bits are great for those crevasses and they come in pretty fine grits.
Also, for bigger caboshons it could be actually easier to file tiny surface so it is flat and then stick cabochon onto it. It might prevent some bubbles.

Thanks for the heads up on UV resin inhibiting the silicone cure. I have a small mold with multiple flowers that I want to replicate one of them so I can make more of just one design. Ive got 2 made so far in 2 part and my UV came yesterday as I was thinking I could speed it up. I guess not.😂

That is incredible. Maybe smaller cabochons on the head? What if you could somehow suspend a flake covered orb inside the head? Find that sweet spot on the head, put a thin layer of UV in that spot and cover it in the flakes, then epoxy? Damn it, you've got my brain going with ideas I'm going to forget about in five minutes again 😭

Hello Sir. I just had an idea that might help you. You had mentioned in this video that you had not been able to find the octopus mold in a matte finish. I thought maybe you could use The Pink Stuff to de-shine the mold you have already. I know that there are several different varieties of The Pink Stuff but I have only ever used the paste that comes in the little tub. So maybe the different formulas have different degrees of abrasiveness. I even thought that a tube/straw brush would be helpful in getting into each of the arms of the octopus. Anyway,. I just had to share with you the thought. I am sure that there are many of your subscribers who have offered their own helpful ideas. So many ideas are zipping through my mind right now after watching this video. AHHH, the rabbit holes that I can't wait to happily lose myself in. LoL
Hope you and your family have a great, creative, and blessed day.

Love it, the tentacles look amazing. I think i would prefer the head shiny as a contrast to the rest of it. (Not sure what colour or flakes but shiny

OH, goody! Another inescapable Rabbit Hole to get lost in! Thanks, Dan...thanks EVER so. 😅
*LOVE, LOVE, LOVE* this gorgeous octopus, Dan! I would find making the individual dots very therapeutic, myself! The effect is just wonderful. 👍❤
    LOVE the 2nd octo! 💕😍😘
I think I've spent up to 8+ hrs on one project, and it STILL turned out a total fail. :sob!
P.S. Dan, wrap your sandpaper around that small file or any small shape...works great, no gouges!
IDEA: Fill the head only, let mostly cure, place your chameleon flakes...THEN fill the legs, more chameleon flakes...yadda yadda.

Amazing, and when you got the tentacles just riiight,,, then you can make the mold so you get the frosted and clear areas already done.

Yes but again, need to be careful the uv resin doesn't poison the silicone.

Love it!! I have all kinds of ideas as to how to make the octopus head more vibrant. i like your idea of the cabochon embed.. or you could do a layer of clear with a hint of chameleon powders mixed in.... or you could use alcohol inks or translucent color(s) in the head layer.... I'm sure you've thought of all these things but I'm throwing it out there anyway! Or how about a dicro film where the head meets the body and then again on the bottom?? Just ideas! Of course, most of these ideas mean you would have to cure in at least 2 layers but it could be worth it for what you're going for. I love all your ideas and have learned so much from your channel. I make better and better pieces (than I ever could before) because of this channel!!
