Actions speak louder than words. She didn't try to get herself out of debt before they got married. She's not going to do anything about it now that they are.
👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
They sound young though. Maybe she just graduated… etc
She had a plan. Get married and let hubby figure it out
I’d bet the farm you’re right, but we actually don’t know. I have a distant cousin who ran up debt with a BF and they broke up. Then when another guy wanted to marry her, she insisted on waiting until she paid the debt off. She refused to bring debt from a previous relationship into the marriage.
Of course she didn't try to get herself out of debt, that's what he's for lol why do men keep falling for this?
Omg such a great guy . . . her next husband will be so grateful. 👍
😆
👀lol
😂😂😂
Next hubby will get the grad school debt
Divorce incoming
Poor Ethan, he has no idea what he has taken on. $58K in income for both of them? What on earth is that debt, school loans? For a degree in basket weaving? This marriage is going to be a rocky road for Ethan.
College, shoes, haircuts is my guess.
100k in debt with 58k income. Going to be a long 3-4 years. That's if the wife is fully on board. Which she won't be
Are you saying you view of being on board on "rice and beans" might change once you actually have to do it for an extended period of time?
She's on board with him pay her debt.
My Ex never told me she had filed for Bankruptcy or was illegally working in the USA! But took me to child support, taking $1500 a month!!!
@@SamuelClemente7718 Okay but Child Support and Alimony are two very different things lol
@@arga400 never married her. And have 50/50 share custody
I find it frustrating how Dave didn’t ask for any specifics on the wife. What type of debt was it? Does she have a job? If the situation’s was reversed, he would get all high and mighty about how the husband needs to man up and get a job and grow up. Dave definitely has double standards.
He doesn't want his show canceled. Women can't handle truth
He's all about "you guys are a team". If it was the wife calling in complaining, he turns on attack mode, calls the guy a bunch of names like lazy, deadbeat etc. and tells him to be a man! While them working on it together is constructive -- funny how that doesn't work with the roles reversed!
Dave doesn't ask questions like that because of the Bible and chivalry.
he said there combined income was $58k too, so she probably doesnt work....i agree i would like to know if it was student loan debt why she doesnt have a job
He wants the family image that his religion preaches to prevail.
He sounds like a good starter husband for her. Her next husband is going to have such a better time after he pays off her debt.
yep
Her next husband will be worse off because of her wanting to upgrade her house, plus her newly acquired grad school debt.
second husbands usually are not better than their starter husband. If she thinks she can cash in this guy after he pays her debt for her, the only guys left will be total losers.
LOL!
😂😂😂😂 I’m weak
Wow she saw you coming. I'd not contribute a penny to bailing out anyone who hid debt from you.
I checked out when a guy told me he had 50-60k in student loan debt. He chose a liability as a business partner
Preach!!!
never marry anyone with debt
If your devoted to someone it might not matter as much but ya I would say don't put ur head underwater on purpose
This is a lot of sacrifice for one person. I give it one year before the resentment sets in.
its there already. but he is still lying to himself.
Yes! Probably less than that
Once the honey butter isn’t getting put on him on the regular, the big head will start thinking and not like what little head has done.
Dude already sounds resentful
A year? He's calling about it already months later.
My marriage failed because my wife and I would come up with plans to pay off the debt but she would ignore the plan repeatedly causing us to keep going in to more debt.
what? i'm shocked ( o.o)
^^^^ Young men, listen to a more experienced man's wisdom. This is what happens more often than not.
My marriage is going great! We both slip up on the budget at times, but we're on the same page. Double the incomes means building wealth faster.
So sad
So? Other couples have made it though...have you not watch the show?
Testosterone combined with a scarcity mindset and societal conditioning.
Pour one out for our fallen brother who was taken before his time as a starter husband. He now gets to pay for her spring breaks in Cancun during college while she was getting her back blown out by Chad who didn’t pay a dime.
😂😂😂😂😂
That sounds like about the size of it. And I’m a woman who went to school, worried about money all the time, and went nowhere on any spring breaks. I went home to Mom’s and had Easter with my parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins. I remain single because men don’t act like men, and they go chasing after the girls who are looking for trouble. Then they get divorced and have $ problems. No thanks. I’ve achieved FIRE.
@@genxx2724 "The men I am stuck dating because I can't get any better don't act like men". There, fixed it for you.
Nailed it!!!
Hahaha!!!!
Dave silences callers before gathering more info. Did they discuss this debt before marriage? Was she paying it down? Only college debt? What is her degree, career, earning potential? Has she already bought the new sofa? Let us hear the full story.
Yes. I want to know what the debt is from.
asking the real questions
The wife found her a true simp. You go girl. I give the marriage another couple of years before she starts nailing Pookie.
This is too funny
Brutal
Julio and Tyrone are already coming in the backdoor when suckersaurus rex goes to work
Lol
@@billcowan471 But most likely so true!
This is a conversation that needs to be had before people tie the knot. Holy cow.
Dave knows is audience, which is 90% women. Come on Dave, there's nothing wrong with telling this guy HE CHOSE WRONG!!!!!!!
His audience is much closer to 50-50.
My wife paid off her 5,000 in loans before we got married. I think she’s a keeper.
That's the preferred method. In the situation where one or both individuals have debt and are Considering marriage, they MUST talk about how the Debt will be fully attacked to get it all paid off in X-months/years. Along with living frugal during all that time, without creating New Debt.
Avoid the above advice or put minimal importance to it and watch how the marriage suffers almost constantly in different ways.
Caller: 'I just married a woman with $100k debt'
Captain-save-a-ho Dave: 'Congratulations.....now let your wife stay at home and you need a second job delivering pizza at night'
😂
😂😂
you cant make a ho a wife.
and did she tell him about the debt before they got married.
if not, I would go for an annulment BEFORE she gets pregnant.
😂😂😂
Meanwhile every dude in the neighborhood will run through her and he will raise a kid that’s not his
Honestly if you have over 20k worth of debt and you aren’t actively trying to dismiss that debt I will drop you immediately. This is coming from someone who has 25k in student loans left to pay off. I don’t need any more debt to take on especially if it’s not my own
Yep that’s right
NO WAY I'd ever marry someone with debt.
I wonder what they spent on the wedding?
When we got married, I knew about her college loans and she knew about my stock portfolio. We got her actual tiny loans paid off within the first year of our marriage. I agree that garage sale furniture is the way to go.
Be careful of bedbugs.
He ruined his life the moment he signed that marriage certificate
but its true love
@@ericprieto4348 😂😂😂
She is probably a 8-10/10.
@@ericprieto4348 sounded sarcastic
I'm surprised men are still marrying. Smh.
Thrift shop clothing, furniture, housewares, anything you can buy on the cheap. Cook together at home. Learn to cook on RUclips. You are young. You can do this. Best wishes.
Men out there…do not be this man. 50% of marriage end in divorce. Women initiate 80% of divorces. That rate increases to 90% when the woman has a degree (which is what his wife is). That means there is almost a 45% chance his wife will leave him after saddling himself with this 100k of debt
Bingo.
you're speaking facts
Then you think about the 50% of the ones that stay in their marriages but are completely miserable or don't want to deal with the cost of a divorce so they just settle instead
Yes 💯
You speaking truth but that's a foreign language to a lot of them.
Once you pay it off, she will say see you later.
At a minimum, I would have to have witnessed her busting her chops attacking that mountain of debt before the marriage as proof that she's serious in becoming debt free. If not, I feel for him, unfortunately.
So many ?'s here, what was the debt starting all this at?
What was the debt for in the first place?
What's her individual income of the 56 K?
100k in debt and she decides to tackle it AFTER getting married? How convenient.
After she spent 50k on the wedding
@@rickyaz8640 oh no doubt 😂
Thank you for reminding me why I'm still single 🙃
I come here every week to confirm why I am single
Yeah that is the reason🙄
Keep lying to yourself
yep. same here. female nature has been exposed. no wonder they wanted to keep it hidden.
😮😮Decades later, I still remember my matching bookshelves made from concrete blocks and Used lumber picked up from a demolished house. ❤❤
“You adopted a hippopotamus”
Probably married one, too!
“Adopted.” Adoption is for children, not animals. John Delony 🙄
@@genxx2724 People adopt animals all the time. It`s not only children who get adopted.
This is why you never ever marry a woman who's in debt. Vet your spouse thoroughly before you say I do. 😔
She probably has a degree in "Gender Studies".
Women tend to have "people " degrees, Sociology, Psychology, ...
and have low pay, then get a Masters for money, then Tic-Tok, bio clock
Baby.
If you intend to have babies, don't go into debt for a degree.
Hilarious
100k? Nothing compared to the price of the divorce.
Dude literally signed up for marriage to ruin his own life 🤦♂️
Yep that’s right the divorce can cost a lot more than 100 grand
You didn't adopt it, you married it.
Somehow I knew it was going to be a male caller. You were her bailout plan.
Love this video. Really hits home for me personally. Pay off debt first before trying to buy other things that you think will help your marriage like new furniture, cars, house, and etc.,. Those things won’t help your marriage more than paying off debt as a team.
This is the day Ethan just realized he F*cked up 🤣
Something tells me the answers he recieved on this call were not the answers he was hoping for. When he was asked if she was on board to pay off the debt, yeah she's on board all right as long as he's the one paying it.
Legendary advice from Dave. He's exactly right. Two people truly become bonded and become family only after they overcome obstacles together.
There seems to be a bash women campaign in the comment section. As if men don't enter marriage with six figure debt. They can obviosuly make it. Your tragic love story does not make it their future.
_They can obviously make it_
This dude sounds seriously depressed that he found out his newly wed wife has 100k in debt. The issue is that the advice being given in the video is hypocritical and has double standards. If the wife called, (and they do call) and she said that her newly wed husband had hid debt from her, Dr. Baloney would be on his case calling him a fraud for betraying your trust and Dave would back him up on it.
Sell the marriage. Rice beans beans rice
This why they should talk about finances BEFORE marriage! Something about this doesn't sound right to me.
Another captain save a Ho3
A used mattress could be a haven for bugs unless you know the home, and possibly use a steam cleaner and UV light
Once it’s paid she’s gone
Will probably start shopping for "better options" even before that
Dave's videos always make me feel better about my situation
A fool is born every minute.
Never Marry someone deep in Debt!
This guy is a nice guy.. but he doesn't sound too smart
Love the unbiased answer 😂
I personally know three co-worker's that are in financial messes due to their wife's. One can't even get direct deposit because they will try and get gas in the morning and their card will be declined. He gets a paper check and deposits it into a separate account. The second guy always has H.R. coming down and handing him wage garnishment papers. The third guy has two separate child support payments taken out of his checks. They are always miserable 🤣
of course they are going to be miserable.
their life is over
I guess they didn’t know how to choose the right kind of girl . . . Sad trombone 🎶
For every “wife” who got her husband into a mess of debt, there’s a “husband” who did the same thing .. and for the rest of us, we did it together.
Proof of pudding is in the eating, and I think it’s dinner time !
@@jobob47 not if they just up and leave the country and live somewhere else. There are people that have done that, where they got in soo much debt, that they just said the heck with it and got their Visa's and jetted to another country to start over.
@@SteelRhinoXpress that is a good idea.

For $100k plus interest, a man can buy a lot of love.
From all over the world and with a much higher standard of living
58000 house income she must ain't working 🤣
My first apartment was furnished with yard sale furniture, and I had no debt.
Dave Ramsey needs to do more solo shows! His advice and direction are on point!
Exactly
All the young men out there listen to this call, then listen to it again. Don’t be this man. Listen to how he talks about his wife how he talks about females and his willingness to accept all of this debt as his own. She must be phenomenal to want to legally bind yourself to her forever……
His voice, how you can tell he is a kind person in love. This is how almost all men sound when young and naive and set themselves up for disaster. Maybe he will be one of the lucky few that pulls through and knocks this debt out quick and succeeds and I hope he is. However that is less that likely unfortunately and he will learn a painful, expensive lesson that countless other young men have had to learn.
>to legally bind yourself to her forever...
*to what he _thinks_ is forever, but more likely is "until debt repayment"
@@fsmoura Ya, no kidding.

Prior to entering into a covenant marriage, a couple must attend premarital counseling sessions "emphasizing the nature, purposes, and responsibilities of marriage" and must sign a statement declaring "that a covenant marriage is for life.

Why sign a marriage license?!🤦🏾♂️
At the beginning I expected John to say

Let's assume they don't divorce until after the debt is paid. Will he still have to give up half of what he has even though she entered the marriage with a huge debt that got paid off?
Up to the judge But probably yes
Yes. Western family courts always side with women.
Yes.
Depends on the judge. Arguably, he could argue she gained more than him while married and she could wind up owing him. It's happening more and more often.

58k household income two people working with 100k in debt?? That cannot be, where are they working, at Kroger part time? They need to make more money, I started at 63k 21 years ago, 1st professional job after grad school. Those numbers make no sense.
What’s grad school, hs and how much you make now?
Half of U.S populace making below 50 K/year, chances are the numbers are correct...
She probably stopped working or went to part-time work after getting married.
$58k...that's not even two $15 hr jobs??? Both of you get to work!!
When my husband and I first moved in together we used a cardboard box with a sheet over it as a coffee table and had a free couch from his boss. It was one of the best years of my life.
yeah but I bet neither of you threw each others debt upon the other. Having your own cardboard box coffee table is way more pleasant being transparent with each other and debt free than deceiving each other.
We still have our second hand couch we got for free from neighbors. We sold our first second hand couch we originally bought for $20 for $15 because we prefer the free couch.
let her do her. you do you. don't sign any of the debt now into YOUR name. when the divorce comes... don't agree to any debt not in your name.
Dave Ramsey as a typical simp not asking anything about her. Ethan, she will not respect you if you pay all of it without forcing her to contribute as much as she can to paying of the debt.
100k debt and a combined income of 58k. That's rough
Combined? She probably doesn't have a job. If she does, it's probably an Etsy store or something else that makes $100 a month.
Better run my brother. It’s not too late to run, run while you can before having any kids.
If she decides to be a stay at home mom someday soon, they are sunk.
Dr. D -- biggest fake laugh ever. Big points from Dave!
Situation normal... She found a walking wallet.

It's hard life for a simp.
Husband and wife can participate together to solve the issues created after Marriage. Not the one done before marriage like a carry forward especially financial issues like mountain of debt.
He should have asked for her to pay it off before marrying and see what happens
Atleast he should have asked her to make a solid start ... so he could judge how she was going to handle the whole thing.
This is why people need prenups. Protect property, inheritences and protect yourself from the partners debt becoming yours when you split.

Just watch her divorce him after most of its paid off.
