I’m a trucker. It depends on what exactly happened. A disconnect, excusable. 1 at fault accident, depending on if anyone was killed. DOT violations, excusable. Multiple at fault accidents, lose your cdl. Drugs or alcohol, lose your cdl. Mega carriers will sometimes take drivers that made major mistakes in the past and give them a second chance. Most drivers hate OTR including myself. We just do it to gain experience to move on to local jobs since many of them require at least 1 year. The industry is dumb. For company drivers, generally local gigs pay better than OTR while also getting you home every night. In other words, he’s definitely hiding something. He said he hated OTR when he could just go local and make more money while going home every night but he refuses.
