Makes 65k, car is 75k, and she has no savings. I just don’t even understand the mentality of some people…like what are you doing?!?
This is Houston. People spend more on their car/truck than on their house. I'm on BS7 and just bought a 21k used car with cash.
You forgot that THEY screwed her 🤦🏽♂️
@@freedomisnotnegotiableshe screwed herself
This is how young people today spend their money.
I understand. She wanted to look rich. It's that simple. That is all that mattered.
Being in debt with a 75k broken car that doesn’t run just to say”I drive an Audi” with a 65k salary is right on-par with the financial literacy in 2024.
She wasn’t planning on driving it. Her genius plan was to use it to make money with short term rentals. She was planning to just drive her other vehicle until it was stolen. However, people tend to be careless when it’s not their stuff and put a lot more miles on it so that could be part of the reason for the Audi needing repairs.
The question we should be asking is this type of car brand new is in the 80K range for the 2024 model year. She said it was 2019 meaning it was already out of warranty last year when she bought it due to miles most likely. So in what world is a 2019 Audi Q8 out of warranty worth 75K when she bought it? She also got duped into buying an after market warranty and most likely not the one Audi sells. Those are notorious for scamming people and not covering anything. Obviously hearing her talk you can tell she wouldn't know a good deal if it hit her straight in the face so they hosed her good at that dealer.
@@andidede3653she's not telling the truth, or giving the full story that's why.
@@andidede3653 I wonder if the warranty can be made to pay anything due to the way she is using it ??
Yep!
“No you didn’t get screwed… you chose this.” True words. Car payments are ridiculous. Whether you make $1600 a month, or spend $1600 a month on a car, you sit in the same traffic and turn your car into a fart box like everyone else.

This Audi owner is dumb, probably doesn’t know how to maintain a car. You can be rich and drive nice cars and not average cars like Toyota.

she rented it out for a couple months... you know the engine issues are related to that. No one treats a rented car very well.
Yup and given the fact she doesn't sound like a car person is a recipe for disaster. Never take a car with that big of a problem to a dealership. They will charge 2 to 3 times what an independent shop would for the same repair.

@@lauren4078 What if the interest rate is low? Our car payment didn't make us poor nor will it make us poor..Actually, we crossed a 7 figure net worth while having a car loan...
I could have bought my car in cash but chose not to. The interest rate is very low. I never take the full amount of time given to pay it off. My financial advisor says the only reason to pay off my loan is for an attaboy since I make several times as much interest money off my investments than I pay in interest on my vehicle note.
@IrisP989
There's a difference between having a networth of 35k and a 1k a month payment. And 1 million with a 1k a month payment.
Also the 1% is still interest your paying. It's a myth that if you can earn 7% in the stock market then having a payment on something with a lower percentage you should invest. Its based off of completely flawed math. I can generate examples where it's always better to pay off before you invest. More examples where you break even and it doesn't actually matter what you do. And yes.. examples where its better to make payments over the long haul and invest. All three are possible and the comparison of interest rates do not tell you which one of those it is. It's completely flawed.
I don't hear a victim. I hear someone who's living beyond her means and wants a certain lifestyle she currently can't afford. Sounds young. Hope she clears this up and learns from it.

I worked for credit union. There was a workshop on buying a car for employees. One of the things that still sticks with me today is they always suggested buying a car in cash or financing for 36 months max. If you have to finance for 5 years or more you cannot afford the car.
If you have to finance it at all, you can't afford it. People seem to have difficulty understanding what "afford" means. If you don't have enough money to pay for it, you can't afford it. Having enough of someone else's money doesn't count.

@@thomasdalton1508 With your logic the same goes for the mortgage too. So I guess we are all broke.
@@targetegrat A house is different for several reasons.
1) House prices generally go up, so it is an investment. You are very unlikely to end up in negative equity on a house. That means you always have the option to just sell it and get out of the debt. You are pretty much always in negative equity on a car.
2) You need somewhere to live, so you are either paying a mortgage or you are paying rent. If you are in a position to buy, it is much better to be paying a mortgage than paying rent. You don't need an expensive car. You can either get something very cheap or you can use public transport.
3) Hardly anyone is going to ever be able to save up to buy a house in cash. After paying rent and basic living costs, you aren't going to have enough left over to save up the entire price of a house before you reach retirement age. If you are going to buy a house, a mortgage is the only way to do it. Saving up to buy a car is a much more realistic prospect.

But seriously, there's no way she'd get $30k for a 2019 with a blown motor. This might bankrupt her.
The lack of compassion in these comments… yes it was a grave mistake but this could be anyone we know. I really pray it pulls through. I’ve made a ton of bad mistakes too😢 sucks!!
You screwed yourself sis….. stop making poor choices
Does she think that continuously using the word "vehicle" instead of car or SUV waters down the stupidity?
I'm a hell you owe $32000 and stood alone dead, but you drive in a Audi. While I'm paying $1600 a month, you could have paid off.Your student loans in two years
I'm making $79k a year and in the market for a used Audi in the $30k range. Listening to this got me nervous.
🗣️ Hello, Jake from StateFarm, yeah... your car is on fire 🔥🤷♂️😂
Do not buy a used German car without a warranty.
She would have been better off buying a 12 year old toyota with 200k miles.
Yes
Some people are just plain nuts. There's no helping them. Anyone who makes $65k and spends $75k on a car is missing a brain.
Darwin is reeling this one in.
Financial illiteracy is common nowadays, sadly.
I make $98K and drive a total crap, paid-off 2011 Kia Forte that was worth $16K in 2012.
Girlfriend owned an Audi...looked great but even new the random cheap crap would fall apart after less than a year...
Do NOT recommend...
Wow, who would have thought Audis are unreliable?🤪
Yeah I had a 2009 Audi A4 that lasted me for 10+ years. Very reliable car because it didn’t use a turbo engine, all N.A. But these newer Audis are just complete junk.
I know of two people who both bought used Audis, and they turned out to be EXPENSIVE pieces of crap.
I had a 2012 until 90k miles 2.0t engine and nothing broke the whole time.
Man the £950 golf on my driveway has never looked prettier. The roof fabric is literally stapled on !! But I'm winning I guess 😂😂😂
This lady needs someone to verify that the engine is failed. Shops are notorious for misdiagnoses or lying. As an Automotive Inspector I have found multiple major repairs requested from a shop. 1st time shop thought they had repaired the vehicle; 2nd time taken to shop same problem, now needs engine replaced. Shops love customer pay jobs and warranty companies aren't the brightest bulb on the planet. I don't usually comment on anything, but she needs help to verify engine needs replaced.
It's an Audi. It failed.
@@lot2196Agreed. Audi’s are the worst cars on the road (when they actually are on the road).
paid cash 50k BMW 330xi sedan 2017, love it and still beautiful and no car payment!
2019 Q8 with a bad engine worth about 10-15k tops. She's 50k in the hole.
Exactly. I'd give her 10k for it.
Damn she lost big time!
I moved to the US in 2012. I went on autotrader and found a chevy impala for 650. It was the cheapest car in the whole city. The air con did not work and it needed a fan belt. I fixed the air con myself by adding the chemical. I bought a fan belt for 12, and paid a guy 20 to install it for me. That car probably done me about 10000 miles as I drove up and down to florida and back about 6-7 times. Finally, the radiator gave up and the scrap yard paid me 300 for it. They came and collected it.
So for I paid 350 for a car that lasted a year. At the time I did not think about what this meant, but now I own two condos I rent on a teaching salary, plus have 6 figures in stocks (which I want to grow to seven), I feel that I did the right thing. I am fortunate for those poor days man, they really help me today. I plan to semi retire in a year and just do a few hours of online work a day, and just enjoy my free time, travel, read books, just relax man..
$65,000 income.
$70,000 car.
12% interest.
At worst, she should have gotten a $15,000 car.
I bought a $55k used Audi. Paid cash. Still has the manufacturer’s warranty on it. Will be selling it 3 months before the warranty expires. The caller has a 3rd party warranty or an extended warranty that isn’t full coverage, not the original manufacturer 5yr warranty.
No one is gonna pay $30K for a five year old Audi without an engine
She'll be lucky to get that for it once it's fixed.
75k at 12% interest rate. JFC.
What's JFC?
@@siva47931 Jesus F'ing Christ haha
I always find it so ironic how people who have and make a lot of money drive old paid for vehicles and broke people drive brand new ones that they literally can't afford in any way heck even the cost of maintenance on a German luxury car isn't cheap
Oof, this is a rough one. I’d go to war with the warranty company.
