Ninja Foodi Airfryer Sticky Orange Chicken with Rice

- This is fast becoming a family favourite, and my 2nd attempt at making. I nearly ballsed up the batter ingredients when cooking by stirring too much. The first time, I had got distracted and the chicken/batter mix had solidified into one piece but this was easily broken into individual pieces. On the 2nd attempt, I stirred too much seperating the batter from the chicken. Luckily after realising this, I stopped stirring allowing it to cook and brown off. Adding the orange sauce happily disguised any potential batter disasters and all was fine - phewie!!

i do similar, but with lemons instead of oranges.. delicious.. must try the orange version
Ooo Marion, I need to try with lemons - is that with soy sauce too?
@@budgetcookinguk yes, dark soy sauce and 2 tbs honey too
Looks lovely Kerry, what a coincidence we had lemon chicken with tarragon and rosemary also with lemon rice cooked in the Ninja speedi this evening for tea . Think next time I'm going to try your Orange chicken .😋
Snap with the citrus flavours Sarah😄💕 yours sounds delish, I'd like to try that lol😋. I've put a link to the original recipe in the description, I know it'll become a regular - well at least once or twice a month

It look delicious as well. congratulations on your 6.000 subscribers, you put out great videos thank you
Aww thank you very much Lois🥰
That looks great! No chicken in the house at the moment and it's too rainy to go round to Asda, but I've got two duck breasts in the fridge so I might try it with those instead. Truth to tell, my mouth's watering so much after watching your video I could almost eat them raw! 😋
😄 it really was lovely, I know I will make it again, Maggie below wondered if leaving out the batter would be an idea, going to try that as it's all about the sauce, flour the meat I think but forgo the batter. Actually I will put a link in the description to the original recipe I found online as well. Good luck with your ducks Nigel😀👍👍
Looks fab gonna do that x and forgot to comment on your allotment diaries so well done 😊
Aww no problem Joan and thank you 🥰🥰🥰
Looks lovely Kerry. That was a good tip about the olive oil
Thank you Sandra😀👍💕 yes you save on usage too, been doing that for years. That olive oil used to cost £1.89 in lidl, it's now £3.39 absolutely shocking the price increases 😱🥴
I bought a bottle last week in there, it said on the shelf 1.99 but when I got home it was 4.99. It was a really big bottle so I just kept it. I think it was behind the wrong shelf edge label
@@sandradent65 I go about with a calculator and a list (calculator on my phone lol) been caught out with stuff like that before too🥴
Sounds deeeeeelicious Kerry
Well deserved Subscriptions 😊x
Thanks so much Janis💕
Looks delish 😋😋
Thank you Jaqueline 🥰
new sub here fantastic channel well done to you 🙂🙂
Thank you!😀👍👍
Hi Love the books you served dinner in. Where did you find them.
Sorry you stirred to much but it didn’t seem to matter. Looked very good.
You are so lucky someone sent you the frying pan. Just purchased two and believe me they are not cheap.
Aww thank you Patsy💕those bowls are from sainsburys bought pre pandemic - they probably sell something similar but the bowls are for pasta, I use them for all sorts👍
@@budgetcookinguk
Thank you
Kerry I just have to ask about your salt and pepper mills, I need them in my life. Yum on the meal.
I got them here amzn.eu/d/7OaI0yD
But paid £12.99 at the time - price surges since then unfortunately
Hi Kerry, love your vlogs, I also love your salt and pepper set, where did you get them please 😊
Thank you Christine 😀💕 those pepper/salt mills are called Kuhn rikon spice mills, mine costvaround £12 each about 4 months ago via amazon but I've noticed a big price hike recently same seller had them at £26!!!, so definitely google "kuhn rikon ratchet mill or spice mill" and hopefully a good competitive price will come up👍👍prices vary depending on colour too
@@budgetcookinguk thanks kerry 🙂
Kerry do you think that sauce would work without the garlic as my hubby can’t stand the stuff.
6k! Cracking stuff. Onwards and upwards... Now, the food... Do you do just eat? Looks totally delish.
Thank you very much Steve😀👍💕 not yet lol😂
Kerry do you think it would be better without the batter?Healthy option xx❤️❤️♥️
Maggie below asked the same thing Patricia👍, next time I think I will try without - just lightly cover the chicken pieces with flour, I'm sure it would be just as good
What was the point of the batter?
I would have served the sauce separately to pour over crispy chicken
Following a specific recipe, feel free to take it up with them (link in the description)
I wish someone would invent smellyvision because that looked like like it smelt loverly jubberly 😊 poor Rosie not much on her plate 😢 as always absolutely brilliant video looking forward to the next one 👍 😀 👌
Rosie was disappointed Jim, she does a dining room check after dinner and wasn't happy with how clean it was😄hope you and the good bosslady Maureen are well🥰🥰🥰 made a delicious something (cannot say its mondays vlog🤐) I will post you a slice!! As my back up taste tester I hope you'll accept this assignment 😅
@budgetcookinguk I'll do my duty to the best of my ability looking forward to the challenge 💪 😄 😀
@@bimboclack7079 lol brilliant. It's all packaged, just gotta walk past a post box tomorrow morning while walking rosie😄👍💕
Thank you for the lovely recipe. Wednesday"s Dinner! This is a question slightly off topic but I was wondering what spices you have in your cupboard? I have quite a few and rarely use many of them. I would just like to keep the ones that are necessary. I would really appreciate your help but I will understand if you don't want to go there. As always looking forward to your next recipe. Take care
Aww thank you Cathy😄👍 I did a list of all mine after I read your comment, quite useful as I had 2 cumins and 2 turmerics, 1 of each being years out of date☺️ if you reply to this I will be able to find your original comment easily, and give you my list (it's a bit late at the mo) tomorrow 😀👍👍💕
@@budgetcookinguk I was just wondering what are the basic herbs and spices I should keep handy in the kitchen. Appreciate you getting back to me so quickly. Take care, Cathy
@@cathyhudson3399 this is my list Cathy, top ones used most often
Paprika
Garlic granules
Chilli flakes
Italian seasoning
Turmeric
Cumin
Cayenne pepper
Ground ginger
Coriander leaf
Cajun rub
Ground coriander
Chat masala
Tandoori masala
All purpose seasoning
Looks delicious. Wonder if it would be ok without the batter - just thinking less calories !!!! x
Ooo I would say yes Maggie!!! 😀👍💕 next time I won't bother with the batter, might lightly flour the chicken before frying and adding sauce, the sauce was deeeeelish
