    You made this so easy. I was looking at a website with illustrations and had no idea what they were trying to demonstrate

    Brilliant, the only video I could make sense of. After several tries and undoing I finally cracked it. From this experience I worked out my long stems were far too thick to braid so I simply cut them with scissors to reduce thickness by half. This worked really well and I now have two magnificent braids. Thank you so much.

    Thank you for this! I just harvested garlic and wanted to braid it but the picture tutorials weren’t helping much. I now have two beautiful braids of garlic.

    Do you cut them off to use from the top down? (The top being the last-added head of garlic?)

    Beautiful job. Thank you for the inspiration! Did you dry your garlic before braiding? Also, what fertilizer do you use? Those are huge bulbs!

    Have you had any trouble with garlic spoiling if you don't cure the garlic before braiding? Great video and beautiful garlic braids!

      I’d like to know this as well… I just harvested my first bit of garlic planted last fall and so excited 😆. The other two videos I watched had a lengthy “lay out and cure/dry out” before braiding… if that’s not necessary would much rather go on and braid and hang because I’m in a small space!

      Yes I have heard that they need to be dry as well, although I wonder if the climate is warm and dry the garlic braids will be ok?

      I braid my hard neck few days after harvest that way the stem becomes more flexible. I don't have room for curing. Never had problem spoiling in zone 4.

      @@1Mandiblehi I just came across your comment! I'm in the exact same predicament. Did you end up curing first? If so how long? Thank you!

      @@MelindaJL18 I ended up just letting it dry until all the leaves turned brown and then braided it and hung it up. Some of it is still good!

    Can you do this with both hard and soft necked garlic?

    • @heirloomharvest3504
      @heirloomharvest3504  5 лет назад +2

      Kristin Pothast it is much easier with soft necks, but still possible with hard neck, although they usually don’t turn out as neat.

      You'll probably need to cut out the scape before attempting to braid hard necked garlic.

    I thought they had to be dried befoe braiding? But youre doing it while thyre still green. So i guess when to braid really doesnt matter?
