Heirloom Harvest
Австралия
Добавлен 31 окт 2018
Heirloom Harvest grew out of our passion for growing our own food. That passion took us from a back yard veggie patch to full time market gardeners and seed growers. Nowadays Heirloom Harvest is our full time business, aiming to ignite the same passion for growing food in others. The core of our business is growing traditional, unusual, non-hybrid seeds. We are not just seed growers, we are seed breeders, constantly selecting our seed lines for the best traits. We grow outdoors and organically so are also selecting to improve our seeds performance under these conditions.

John checks the progress of Heirloom Harvest's 2018 garlic seed crop. This garlic will be available online and in selected garden supply stores as seed stock for home gardeners and small scale market gardeners to grow themselves early in 2019.
Great video. By the way, you can braid soft neck garlic right out of the garden, hard neck after a couple of days when the stems/leaves have wilted, and onion this way, though give it a couple of days for the onion leaves to wilt.
Finally, someone who doesn't say, "It's easy, just like braiding hair".
Hope its okay to do before curing as you've done. This is my first try and I'm trusting the internet lol😂
Are these softneck variety?
Do you cut them off to use from the top down? (The top being the last-added head of garlic?)
Brilliant, the only video I could make sense of. After several tries and undoing I finally cracked it. From this experience I worked out my long stems were far too thick to braid so I simply cut them with scissors to reduce thickness by half. This worked really well and I now have two magnificent braids. Thank you so much.
I just had the same struggle. Will be trying this the next braid. Thanks. 😊
Do you allow the garlic to flower before harvest

Thx for actually showing how to use them
Nice! Thanks 6 the garden tool info!
Thank you for explaining how to attach the stirrup head so well. I couldn't find another video so this is much appreciated.
Finally someone who is doing it nice and slow and close up!!
thank you!
I thought they had to be dried befoe braiding? But youre doing it while thyre still green. So i guess when to braid really doesnt matter?
Thanks for the info!
Excellent video. Actually shows how to use the tools. Brilliant. The triangle hoe is the most versatile tool in your garden arsenal. I use mine for everything
The nisaku delta hoe is so damn good I just stopped using my hori hori 99% of the time. Feels faster, easier, and more effective.

Can you braid garlic that has all dried out brown leaves?
Beautiful job. Thank you for the inspiration! Did you dry your garlic before braiding? Also, what fertilizer do you use? Those are huge bulbs!
Thank you for your good instructions!!!
You made this so easy. I was looking at a website with illustrations and had no idea what they were trying to demonstrate
Thank you for this! I just harvested garlic and wanted to braid it but the picture tutorials weren’t helping much. I now have two beautiful braids of garlic.
Excellent tutorial. Braided my first harvest!
Korea ho-mi is best!!
Dude, no links 😮💨
Wow, great tools.
I really enjoyed that. Thank you very much.
Hi. Where are you located please?
OMG where did you get that hoe head? I've been trying to find one for ages. I like on the Sunshine Coast of Qld
I used to date that third one in Oregon

What is the point of cutting weeds ? It's not real weeding . Pardon the pun ,must get to the root of the problem !
How much sir
realy nice - THX !
love that you show us and give great verbal instructions on the braiding itself; thank you.
This was seriously the most helpful video I've seen
Have you had any trouble with garlic spoiling if you don't cure the garlic before braiding? Great video and beautiful garlic braids!
I’d like to know this as well… I just harvested my first bit of garlic planted last fall and so excited 😆. The other two videos I watched had a lengthy “lay out and cure/dry out” before braiding… if that’s not necessary would much rather go on and braid and hang because I’m in a small space!
Yes I have heard that they need to be dry as well, although I wonder if the climate is warm and dry the garlic braids will be ok?
I braid my hard neck few days after harvest that way the stem becomes more flexible. I don't have room for curing. Never had problem spoiling in zone 4.
@@1Mandiblehi I just came across your comment! I'm in the exact same predicament. Did you end up curing first? If so how long? Thank you!
@@MelindaJL18 I ended up just letting it dry until all the leaves turned brown and then braided it and hung it up. Some of it is still good!
Those look nice!
This is a great vid, and you're pretty hot too.
Thank you for your video and your clear instructions ☺️
