Your way was the easiest I've found. Having the stems pointing toward you as you braid is the secret. Thank you!

I grow a lot of garlic but always struggle with the braiding. This is a very straightforward method and works for me. Many thanks

Love it! (I couldn't do it the old school way either). It's so great when people leave their little stuff-ups in because I can almost guarantee that I will do the same thing and it's nice to see how someone else manages it too.

Thank you for this excellent refresher. It’s been about 20 years since I braided my daughters hair.
Although the garlic is not as delicate to work with, it won’t be wiggling around as much.

I have seen people braid garlic as soon as the dirt on the outside of the bulb is dry. Usually a day. The purpose of the braid was to save space in the rafters and to help the garlic cure slowly, helping us to store the garlic longer.
      Happy gardening!!!

When you see it being braided, it is dried & yes it is cured. I hang mine upside down tied individually to a wooden clothes airer for 14 days to cure, in a protected area from sun & rain.
