She would be awesome. I just love that Aaron and her can do whatever they feel like doing with their own brand power. I just love watching the videos they produce and their personalities.
I had the joy of growing up with 3 sets of great grandparents still living up until my early 20's. Two of them had gardens and braided garlic. This took me back to a simpler time when everyone had braided garlic in their kitchen or barn. Wish more people did that today...I'm sure you've inspired a few dozen today. Thanks for the great videos!! I really appreciate them and you.
Goooodmorning!!! This video took me back when I was little. My grandmother and mother always harvested their own garlic and used to braid it. I always remember passing by our kitchen back door and seeing the braided garlic. Wish I would had learned back then. Thank you so much for showing us how to do this process. 💚💚💚💚💚💚
How kool !!! Im learning so much about gardening! ☺ thank you for this video! your videos are such a true blessing to my heart. They bring back wonderful blessed memories of my kids grandparents arnold&loretta willis who are now in heaven. Loretta 10/2002 leukemia Arnold August 13,2020 he was in a senior home
Nice video. I have found that it's very important to remove the scapes from the hardneck as soon as possible as it will suck energy from the bulbs and continue to grow even after harvest which degrades the storage life of the bulbs. Softneck will not do that.
Love your hair, love the different camera angles, love the music while you're braiding the garlic, love all the great growing and after-care info of the garlic and love that you are carrying on your sweet Momma's "romancing the ordinary"!
Better than Martha Stewart!...You are such a natural and genuine in front of the camera! I’ve learned so much from you. Love, Love watching you and Erin and your precious baby boy, and your sweet cat! You seriously need your own TV show!!🌸🌼🌷🌻🌹🍂🍁🌾🌿🍀🌲🌻💐🌺🌳🥀🌵💗💞💗💞💗
Hi Laura, thanks for teaching me about garlic....growing, harvesting, etc...I found the braiding very cool. I always wondered how it was done. Tfs. Have a wonderful day! 😉🦋🌸🐝
You can braid hard necks just use a wood or rubber mallet or even a rolling pin and gently pound the hard stem of the scape to split it and make it more pliable. Pre softening the stem with a warm damp towel wrap (only the stems !) I was told also works.
Watching this video about garlic makes me think about the Garlic festival in Gilroy CA. You can fix garlic in all different kinds of recipes. Interesting about the braiding I enjoyed watching
You can braid hard neck garlic it just takes a little for prep work. You have to make a slit in the stalk lengh wise and cut out the scape or whats left of the scape from the inside of the green leaf folage. Then it will be like the soft neck garlic to where you can then braid the garlic. Thus you would have a hard braided garlic that lasts longer. Hope this help you next year when you are harvesting you hard neck garlic variety.
Great tips! I also want to say, the background music while you're braiding is awesome, perfect! Enjoy your harvest. Personally, I've never grown garlic, and now know there's more to it, such as different types like the hard neck and soft neck. Till next time . . . :)
Laura you are amazing! I absolutely love watching your channel and then applying what you teach. Question, when you take a head of garlic off of the braid do you remove it from the top of the braid or the bottom?
I didn't realize how many times I say "these ones" too until someone pointed it out on a previous video that you say it and now I'm noticing that I also say it a lot.
My garlic was so small. I harvested it yesterday and each bulb is no bigger than a nickel. I'm sure they will taste good they smelled wonderful and I will try again in the fall. Not sure what went wrong except that maybe they need more water during the whole growing process or maybe the ground was too rocky because when I dug the holes I came across a lot of gravel that was put in below the dirt for the patio.
We grow shallots and we do have some problems with them rotting even though my husband puts them in the dry basement in a mesh bag. Can shallots be braided? Laura you always look so fresh and pretty. Aaron does a wonderful job editing these videos. I take videos of trains for a production company and they do the editing so I know how much work goes into that specialty.
Can't wait to try again at growing garlic love the braided look just don't have a place to hang it . Can you just cook with the garlic after you harvest it do you have to cure it?
I live jn upstate NY i only planted hardneck. Will they last long enough for me to use a few bulbs to regrow next planting season? Ive never grown garlic before. I only grew a small amount. I planted around 6 or 7 bulbs and planted the cloves individually.
Hello!!! I always wonder how you use all the produce in the kitchen would you ever make an episode where you show the recipes you make with so much amazing veggies?:)
@ Erika R. I would think that logically, cutting from the top would be the best, since those are the last ones braided in. That way the entire braid wouldn’t unravel the way it would if you were cutting from the bottom. although since Laura used a tie to secure the first three pods, the tie might be enough to secure the rest.
Great video I am going to start a veggie garden next year and garlic is so useful for food and it repels a host of bugs. I really wanted to ask you about your lavender this is my first year trying to start a lavender Farm we have different zones but my lavender is doing so so and I just wonder if u wher having better luck from the other times u stated u planted it and if so what did u do differently. Thanks and I truly love your videos.
Love it... I'm gonna grow garlic this year... you habe any tips for me? I'M FROM COLORADO weather here is crazy but I still wanna try to grow garlic... Filipino's love them garlics its everydat thing and they aren't cheap here... it would be nice to grow it...
Ok I found my new obsession! I’m not into gardening but you made me so from now on, I’m a gardener in my dreams Hahaha love your videos! I’m your new subscriber 💕
Did anyone else see Russell playing with a hanging branch when Laura looked down?😂 Too cute
You are the Martha Stewart of Gardening and home. You guys are the Best! Waiting for HGTV to come a knockin at your door - wouldn't miss an episode!
I’ve been saying the same thing for over a year! She would be great on HGTV
She would be awesome. I just love that Aaron and her can do whatever they feel like doing with their own brand power. I just love watching the videos they produce and their personalities.
I'm SO glad you are a visual teacher. It helps to actually see things done rather than telling or reading.

Love the ginger kitty in the background playing!
I planted garlic for the first time in October 2021 and am ready to harvest -- thank you for your videos! They have been very helpful.
“These ones” 😆 I love that you flashed your own call out
Nice video. I have found that it's very important to remove the scapes from the hardneck as soon as possible as it will suck energy from the bulbs and continue to grow even after harvest which degrades the storage life of the bulbs. Softneck will not do that.
👍 agree
You are a garden fairy 🌱🍄🌺🍅
Laura you are a woman of many talents! So fun to watch
Thank you Laura, I will try your way to braid my garlic this year. ❤
Best example of braiding garlic thank you so much
Love your hair, love the different camera angles, love the music while you're braiding the garlic, love all the great growing and after-care info of the garlic and love that you are carrying on your sweet Momma's "romancing the ordinary"!

Thank you Laura! Your garlic braids are gorgeous.
Good morning Laura! I've got my coffee and I'm ready to learn more about garlic. 💗
2:54 The cat on the corner is brushing as well!
Just learned how to braid garlic , another great video
You can braid hard necks just use a wood or rubber mallet or even a rolling pin and gently pound the hard stem of the scape to split it and make it more pliable. Pre softening the stem with a warm damp towel wrap (only the stems !) I was told also works.
You really inspired me to plant garlic, and I don't even have a garden 🤣🤣🤣. Keep up the good work 👍👍👍.
Braiding garlic! and brand new beautiful haircut. I see the theme here. Great job!
Watching this video about garlic makes me think about the Garlic festival in Gilroy CA. You can fix garlic in all different kinds of recipes. Interesting about the braiding I enjoyed watching
I love your hair straight !! Awesome info on how to cure and hang the garlic
So awesome to see it from start to finish. Thanks for all the great tips and info!
Excellent presentation and very informative. Thank you!
Please make a few videos of you cooking the products from your garden.💙
Thank you so much for showing us how to braid the garlic! Looks much easier than the way I tried, and failed, to do it.
I LOVED this video; so informative! I can't wait for next fall. It would be great to see how you replant the bulbs.
U R a great presenter, for once I like the music, very beautiful all around and so are YOU!
I loved your video and learned a lot. I wonder how often you water. What is your watering system like. Thank you for sharing
Beautiful, what a great gift❤️inspired 👌
Your hair looks really nice flat ironed!
You looked beautiful braiding. So pretty!

Great video. It was really helpful. What would you plant in the garden beds that you harvested the garlic from.
Loved this one!! Braided garlic is so fun!
Great video! The music is so appropriate!
That was beautiful!.I love everything you do apparently lol.I just love that you know what you do and you're so nice to boot.Great job.
Great tips! I also want to say, the background music while you're braiding is awesome, perfect! Enjoy your harvest. Personally, I've never grown garlic, and now know there's more to it, such as different types like the hard neck and soft neck. Till next time . . . :)
I love the little sarcastic edits! So cute and funny. “These ones” 😂💜
If you snip the scape on the hard necks the plant will focus more energy on the bulb. So you'll get a 30% bigger bulb at harvest!
those are so pretty braided
Laura you are amazing! I absolutely love watching your channel and then applying what you teach. Question, when you take a head of garlic off of the braid do you remove it from the top of the braid or the bottom?
I have read from the top
I didn't realize how many times I say "these ones" too until someone pointed it out on a previous video that you say it and now I'm noticing that I also say it a lot.

“I can’t tie a bow upside down”. Too cute.
2:54 Russell makes his appearance!😺😸😼😽
Such a lovely video. Thanks, Laura. You make everything an art. 💚
I loved this video, Laura. I can't wait to try this! Thanks so much!

Thank you so much for sharing! Always looking for ways to store garlic!
What a fun video, love Russell sneaking in there to bat at the tree. Your garlic looks awesome, we may have to try some this fall with the children .
Thanks for pointing that out, missed the first time. Russell rocks. Aprox 2:51
Your amazing I can tell you enjoy planting, such an art. Thanks for the great tips. We will do. Big hugs from Virginia!
Can't wait to try again at growing garlic love the braided look just don't have a place to hang it . Can you just cook with the garlic after you harvest it do you have to cure it?

I absolutely waking up to a new video from yall! I just can't get enough.
Laura, Your hair looks great!
Great video, Thank you so much, 😘
Hello!!! I always wonder how you use all the produce in the kitchen would you ever make an episode where you show the recipes you make with so much amazing veggies?:)
Very interesting video on garlic. I liked the music in this video too!
Can we please get some cooking videos and update videos and vlogs and .... ? A video a day from Garden Answer keeps the blues away!
You can make anything look so beautiful!!
Once the braid is complete, where do you begin to cut each head so the braid doesn't unravel?
I'm wondering the same thing.
@ Erika R. I would think that logically, cutting from the top would be the best, since those are the last ones braided in. That way the entire braid wouldn’t unravel the way it would if you were cutting from the bottom. although since Laura used a tie to secure the first three pods, the tie might be enough to secure the rest.
I really liked the music you picked.
Bravo! Well done. I tried to imagine tying a bow upside down. Nope.
Laura do you take advantage of the empty garlic beds to grow anything else before you plant more garlic again in the fall?
I've never planted garlic before. You got your hair cut, it looks nice.😊
Great video I am going to start a veggie garden next year and garlic is so useful for food and it repels a host of bugs. Yes thank you! Love love love it! ❤️
you have some nice bulbs yourself would love to see them !
So helpful & so much fun. 👍❤
What can you plant in these former garlic beds right after your harvest? Do you have to amend because they are nutrient stealers?
Great stuff to watch. I am planning on becoming partially self-sustainable this year and your videos really do help. Subscribed. :)
Nice to watch you Laura doing project.
As you use garlic from a braid, do you clip the bulb from the top and work down the braid?
Super chique! Amei!
