      @@ccamazingamazingness so is doing laundry. 35% of the micro plastics are released from clothes, laundry soap, dryer sheets and laundry balls. A lot of health and beauty products, cleaners, gum, tea bags, paints, dental floss/tooth brushes, receipts, area rugs, couches, mattresses, canned drinks and food, paper cups and a lot of appliances release micro plastics. Tires and synthetic textiles are 80% of the cause of micro plastics.

      If you're looking to get the grout clean, then a paste of hydrogen peroxide and baking soda and a brush or various brushes of different sizes to fit in small spaces or clean large spaces quickly works very well to clean and whiten. I used to use toothbrushes, but now I buy denture brushes, which work wonderfully for small tight spaces and corners, they also make a grout brush that I use as well, it's narrow and angled, and a larger handheld brush with a handle for bigger areas. You can also use a deck brush on a broom handle for walls and floors to do it even more quickly and easily.

    This is something my mom picked up from a house keeper she worked with years ago, so take this with many grains of salt and use caution...
    But if you really struggle with hard water, clean your shower down really well, get off all the soap scum you can can... then use fiberglass boat polish to seal the walls of your shower. NOT THE FLOOR, do not get the boat polish on the floor, you will slip and hurt yourself. But the fiberglass boat polish really helps prevent hard water build up.

    Although a little demanding, I clean our tub/shower after every use. I first use my hand held shower to rinse debris down the drain. I then clean the rough soap scum from the tub and rinse the cleaner down the drain. Then I drape a dedicated old towel over a sponge mop, wipe the walls and tub dry, polish all chrome dry and the area looks as new as the day it was installed 5 years ago. No more spending hours getting soap scum and water calcium build up off all the surfaces. It takes about 10 minutes to do and I leave the bathroom tidy and clean for the next use and relieved that it’s done.

Rinse the sponge in the bucket as needed. Rinse out the bucket and sponge. And wash off the soap with the soft side of the sponge. Dry the glass when you are done to prevent water stains.

    Bar soap is the worst for scum!! I've had my own cleaning business for 11 yrs, & I'd ban any clients from using it if I could!! Detachable shower heads should be a must as well. So much easier & faster for rinsing. No matter how careful I am, using a cuo ir picture somehow always splashes a little!

    • @OceanSwimmer
      @OceanSwimmer 5 месяцев назад +1

      @Kellykittymom,
      I stopped using bar soap for bathing years ago because of the scum it creates.
      I tried explaining this to my mom who is devoted to Dove Bar Soap (shudder) ugh! The smell of that soap turns my stomach! Go figure, lol.
      Glycerine or liquid soaps that you can see through don't have those fats that create the mess.
      I use Palmolive dish soap & a green scrubbie pad on the bathtub as the last step before exiting the shower.
      Skin oils and body lotion residue rinses off right away after using Palmolive dish soap.
      We have rock hard water in San Diego & wiping down the shower immediately with a cloth towel is a must, even tho I use Rain-X and squeegee the door & walls.
      ((My bath is the Guest bathroom in mom's house, so it must look pristine 24/7/365.))

    I always use a good carnauba paste wax on all the surfaces EXCEPT the bottom and a third way up. The water and soap scum won’t adhere to the walls. I do this every year and I even do it on every faucet, stainless appliances and other things that will be in contact with water.

      I use Easy Off in the blue can for cleaning greasy kitchen surfaces. Let foam sit for 5 to 10 minutes, then wipe with wet cloth.

    I got metal shelves for our shampoo and other products, and it's so much easier now to shower AND to clean the shower. And bottles don't fall on my feet anymore

    I have to get an electric scrubber, or a power washer soon! I didn’t realize how much people use those to clean in their homes; I really need one for reaching higher areas in my apartment.

    I don't care for that Bar Tender's brand. I went to use Bon Ami - seems to rinse off easier. I too, use one of those "scrubbies" but not too hard.
    I do wish I had a drill with a brush at its end - such a great idea!

    Shyvonne, once the clothes are dry, have the twins retrieve the clothes from the dryer. They can each use an Aldi bag to bring them upstairs (no bulky laundry basket) to the dining room. This will be something they'll have to do after they learn to use the washing machine. Actually, any of the kids can bring clothes upstairs from the dryer even if it's not their own clothing.

    Do you have any videos on how to get stains from a non slip textured base? I've tried baking soda, dawn and hot water also oven cleaner that sat for a few hours on the surface. I didn't have time for it to sit overnight.

    No scrubbing required if you heat the vinegar. Fumey AF so wear a mask. One to one dawn dish soap and vinegar. Heat vinegar for a minute and a halr. Spray. Let sit for twenty to thirty (no more!) Wipe the scummiest spots with a sponge. Spray clean. Clear all the spray from the bottle while waiting cause it will gum up!

    The best trick: clean the shower wall AFTER you shower and BEFORE you get out with a SEPARATE washcloth and dawn dish soap. This way the shower isnt a big chore to clean because it doesn't get a chance to get super dirty. I learned this from flylady. It has saved me from scrubbing for an hour. 😁

    I have found that after I scrub my fiberglass tubs with baking soda if I put car wax on it ( not the nonstick bottom of the tub of course) and let it dry, then use soft cloth to wipe wax off that for many months all I have to do is to squeegee the shower after a shower and the water comes right off and no soap scum builds up for a long time!!!

    I use scrubbing bubbles leave it in for 10 mns then use the clorox long handle sponge, rinse out and done! Scrubbing bubbles does all the work for u. I no longer slave myself doing the tub, the glass shower doors are a bit harder because of the in between nooks and crannies 😢
