Hey Melissa, I work at a vets office and know aaaaall about getting blood stains out of fabric (after surgeries, i swear). I've learned to soak a large blood stain in COLD water as soon as possible to rinse away as many cells as you can - hot water can "cook" the blood onto the fabric so ONLY USE COLD. Then go in with the peroxide and let it sit as you stated. Rinse with cold water again and repeat until the stain is gone/almost gone, then launder normally. Adding the cold water rinse works almost every time, the main reason I see stains setting is due to the use of hot water on a fresh stain. I hope this helps someone in need :) *edit: also avoid putting peroxide on a large amount of blood on white fabric. It can leave a brown stain. Rinse as much away as possible with cold water then use peroxide.
@Robert A. Lofgren Jr. So sorry to hear about your situation, that's very unfortunate. Since I wasn't there it's hard to say exactly what happened. However, there is always a risk with any procedure under anethesia, even for young animals. While it is rare, statistically anesthetic deaths (a death resulting from the anesthesia specifically) happens in 0.12% of healthy anesthetized animals (as per a veterinary study done in 2012). While this is a small percentage, owners should always be aware of the risk associated with anesthesia, and that the risk increases in older or sick patients. I personally have seen 2 anesthetic deaths in my career thus far and they were both young and seemingly healthy upon examination the day of the procedure (spay/neuter). We can never presume how an animal or human will react to anesthesia. Even when an animal goes into cardiac arrest, the survival rate is only 5% ): I hope this helps clarify, and I hope the autopsy brings you some closure during this time. I wish you all the best.
@Robert A. Lofgren Jr. as a last comment I will say that even with the risk, I still recommend getting animals spayed/ neutered, preferably around 5-6 months. The main reason for this is to reduce overpopulation, reduce the anesthetic risk, reduce behavioral issues associated with intact animals (eg spraying in male cats), and lastly to greatly reduce the risk of prostate/mammary gland cancer (done before 5 months reduces the risk by 99%,
@Robert A. Lofgren Jr. that's true, German shepherds are a very diseased breed in that regard (hip/elbow dysplasia, cancer, spinal issues), that definitely is a thing. From what I understand large breeds in general can wait a bit longer, I know this more for bone development to prevent knee problems. Hip dysplasia is hereditary and animals with the disease shouldn't be bred as they can pass it on.

during the first pandemic lockdown I was washing my reusable bags after every grocery shop. Now I haven't done it in at least 3 months. I guess I should get back to at least a monthly clean of those. Melissa, I love all your tips and your channel. You are a Godsend. Thank you. 🙏🏻
Brilliant suggestions. I have experienced success with unlocking set in stains by making a paste with Hydrogen Peroxide and Baking Soda. I put the paste on the stained fabric and pour a little bit more Hydrogen Peroxide on it to let the blend soak in. I gently rub the paste into the fabric and let it sit for 30 minutes or even much longer rolled up. Then I wash in the laundry with detergent. Be careful that the fabric color won't fade from this treatment in advance. Otherwise, there will be faded areas where the paste is applied. Works great on linen tablecloths or napkins with very old wine or food stains on them. The results have been surprisingly great on stains that were more than decades old in some old tablecloths.
I cleaned my porcelain tiles with castile soap and peroxide hot water and let me tell you , i thought i had dark grey grout ... nope i got nearly light grey grout i cant tell you how great this worked
It's also good for teeth whitening. My dentist recommends it. Just use it a few times/week diluted with a bit of water. Swish it around well in your mouth and spit it out.
My dentist told me about this over 40 years ago (I'm 76 now). A dentist in the '30's published it in the literature where he read it. I have never used toothpaste since, and brush once per day with a 2 water - 1 H2O2 solution. As time went on and my mouth got used to it I increased the H2O2 in the ratio. I do not use it for whitening (tho it does of course), it kills bacteria. I NEVER have had cavities or mouth problems in all those years. The only time I go to a dentist is if there is a problem with a tooth, such as a filling falls out. Why would you go to a dentist? Hydrogen peroxide cleans your mouth and kills all bacteria every day...
The first thing I'm going to try is the grout cleaning. It's been bugging me trying to find something to get it looking good. -Edit: Just cleaned the grout and it works! Ive done a once over and so much came out. Some parts turned white but im certain after a second time the rest should too. Thank you so much, you saved me from having to pay a professional.
My sister made a paste of OxiClean (has h2o2) and put it on her grout, then used a brush that goes on a drill to scrub it. She said it worked great, but then you have to seal it!
If You use tap water, the chemicals in the water will cancel out the Peroxide. You should only use DISTILLED water in Your waterpik. It will keep the machine from gumming up with chems and hard water.
It’s great for brightening white laundry too. I live in an area with hard water. So I soak my whites in a mixture of hot water, dawn dish soap and Arm and Hammer washing soda. Let it sit for 2 hours or overnight. Brightest whites ever. I throw out the water, throw the clothes in the washer for a rinse and I add a cup of distilled vinegar to the rinse to help remove the soap residue and it acts as a fabric softener as well. My white sheets and white towels stay super white and last for ages since I’m no longer using bleach which deteriorates the fabric.
Hydrogen peroxide and baking soda paste is also good for oven cleaning … put it on greasy area (oven window!) and let it sit for awhile. Loosens grease/food.
0:46 I’ve been using this incorrectly! I didn’t know why it’s so important to keep the hydrogen peroxide in the brown bottle until right before you use it. Great tip with the sprayer. Thanks for the science tip too : )
Before cleaning the toilet pump the water so that its just below the water line. You also leave your toilet brush in the bowl while you flush as this will rinse your brush and remove any nasties. The brush doesn’t block the water from going down. Just a trick I use.
Thank you so much❤️ Attaching spray to the bottle is a very good easy fix Will clean toilet bowel, bathroom grout and spray the big outside garbage bins( always on my mind how to clean them)
I use hydrogen peroxide for all of those tasks and more. I love it because instead of releasing chemicals in the air it releases oxygen when it dries. Also great for glass surfaces including windows, mirrors, tv screens and cellphones. Remember to use gloves if working with it full strength.
I just love on what you said about the fruit, brilliantly done and simplified cleaning and I look forward to seeing more of your videos. Thank you so much..
I had a pop up tent trailer that periodically got mold spots on the tip outs. This is nearly impossible to avoid because you are bound to leave any campsite with some organic material on the canvas. Because your trailer is closed for travel and storage that organic material will begin to breakdown and cause mold. Canvas is very difficult to clean because it can be damaged by almost any cleaner except soap and water. That’s where the hydrogen peroxide comes in. Simply open up your trailer on a warm day or even at the campsite before you set up the beds etc. Mist straight hydrogen peroxide onto the canvas wherever you see dark mold. Don’t rub the canvas because you want to keep that material strong. Let the hydrogen peroxide dry and reapply as necessary until all those little mold spots are gone. This will not damage the fabric and will remove all the mold before you have a really big problem. I did this for over a decade on my tent trailer and never had a hole or weak fabric as a result. Just really white clean canvas. I hope this helps someone. I searched for years to find a safe product that works without damaging that canvas. Great video. Oh. I also use it straight on white baseball hats that get sweat stained. Does a great job.
I’ve been following you for years and I love these simple hacks. Btw, my husband needs to watch this video so I can prove that “toilet ploom” is a thing and not just something I made up.
Will do the bathroom grout & makeup brush cleaning today! I love hydrogen peroxide... have one under my kitchen sink & one in each of my bathrooms with a spray nozzle. I use it as a disinfectant... just spray on after cleaning the toilets, counter tops & use in the garbage cans as well. Oh and add it to my laundry machine as well. I always need to stock up on it😉 Btw... during quarantine... everything brought into the house got sprayed with hydrogen peroxide, left for a few mins... wiped off then put away. My reusable grocery bags gets sprayed after each use & left to dry before using, and I do wash produce the way you do... so its been an invaluable tool to stop anything in its track... and not bringing stuff home.
I will be tackling the grout. As an aside for pet owners.....we have a bottle in almost every room & use it full on for cuts & abrasions. Eight cats & two dogs......got to have back up stock. Thank for the tips......love the spray nozzle tip! ☺️
Not too long ago I discovered many of these uses, and I am happy to use so little product to sanitize, deoderize toothbrushes, etc. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you so much! I love using hydrogen peroxide AND I used two of your tips today... blood stain removed from cream towel (AMAZING!) and cleared a slightly backed up drain as well.
My grandma told me to use it like a mouthwash at least once weekly for teeth staining from coffee, wine, smoking, etc. (Only the kind with purified or distilled water in it as only other ingredient) Put in a good mouthful and swish it at first a few times then let sit for at least one minute and allow to bubble. Then rinse with water. Works so well. I also use it to clean my earrings
i find it cheaper to use vinegar, hydrogen peroxide is quite expensive because there is little quantity in those brown bottles. I can get a big bottle of vinegar for 2 dollars, versus the peroxide 1.50, and the vinegar last much longer and is just as effective.
So true. I was thinking the same thing! I wash my produce in vinegar water. Use 1 oz. vinegar in a pint spray bottle w/ a little (10-15 ml) of Mrs. Meyer's liquid soap for an AP cleaner. I'm still loving the uses for H2O2.
I love your videos and am so grateful for them. That said I cringed over your care of your cutting board. A clean dry wooden cutting board should be thoroughly oiled from the very beginning with an oil that doesn't spoil. (Boos sells great oils). The oil absorbs into the board and doesn't permit water to soak in. Every so often, depending how often you use your board, it's thoroughly washed using lemon juice or vinegar and salt, rinsed, allowed to thoroughly dry, and oiled again.
The tip which caught my eye is not the toilet bowl cleaner but the toilet bowl BRUSH getting clean. Liked how it was lodged between the bowl and the lid to allow the H2O2 to work! Good tips!
I knew about most of these, but I'm always grateful for the reminders. I will try to use peroxide on my cutting board. I have been using bleach. Your idea seems safer.🙂
I love using hydrogen peroxide in my house. I mix it with Dawn and hot water in my bissel crosswave for my hard floors, I mix it with my enzymatic cleaner and spray on my carpets before shampooing, I spray it on any blood stains on fabric.
thank you thank you...i use it for everything you described plus on a very stubborn porcelain floor that for years i could not clean. But i used water and peroxide and now it looks brand new. thx.
Oh my gosh, trying the grout cleaner literally right now! Lol I've been looking for ways to make my home look newer. I started polishing the sink and all metals in my kitchen too, streak free thanks to your recipes ☺
@@sandybrownonyt it works pretty well for all natural healthier alternative, you'll have to be patient and it will require a bit more effort on your part! But if you are not opposed to using something a bit stronger and if the above method isn't working as well as you'd like...my all time favorite method is toilet bowl cleaner with preferably with bleach the one with the little nozzle that fits perfectly under toilet ring thing, you know the one Im talking about right! Its a gel like... Anyways I put that on my grout leave it for about 15mins or so don't ket it dry out if possible but if it does its ok just use some hot water to moisten it back up, obviously make sure to securd pets children etc and open up your house for ventilation.. very important! Use cleaning gloves too. After it soaks you want to use a grout brush (preferably) or any small cleaning brush even an old tooth brush will work but more work. Wear white Just in case my dumb self ruined my leggings first time I used this method! I knew better just wasn't thinking! Lol Then have a bucket of warm water near you with a cleaning rag and after you scrub it wipe it off really well after you're done I'd rinse your entire floor with just a mop plain water you might want to rinse it twice. Meaning after you rinse the entire area once, throw that water out and start with fresh bucket clean water and go over it one more time especially if you have pets or small children P.s it is extremely important to have windows doors open you must have a lot of ventilation again first time I did it my dog even though was in separate room had trouble breathing I had to take her outside for a very long walk turned on all the fans etc now im also in a very small 1 bedroom condo but still! Scary! chemical
I keep my vent fan on for 20 to 30 minutes after leaving the shower. My fan is on a timer. It is also a great way to stop windows from steaming up that keeps mould off the window sills. Turn your bathroom fans on with the door open for an hr a day helps keep the humidity in your house down and helps with heating your home it's easier to heat dry air. Life experiences. I'm 70 years old 😊
The grout cleaner is my 1st job with Hydrogen Peroxide. I have already used another household formula & it took a bit of work so I'm game to try the baking soda w/hydrogen peroxide on the next bath floor!
I once heard the toilet plume also referred to as "Sharticles" and now I keep bathroom items a bit further from the toilet. We also use a drop of peroxide to clean our ears.
The hydrogen peroxide and baking soda paste was the only way I was able to get stains out of my parent's white Corian sink. I also use it to get stains out of my stainless steel cookware that otherwise wouldn't come out in the dishwasher. Just make a paste and let it sit over night.
@@tomwessling7065 hope it works for you. My parent's sink was Corian, just like the countertops. We tried Bar Keeper's Friend, Soft Scrub with bleach, etc. But a paste of baking soda and hydrogen peroxide was the only thing that got the stains out. It took multiple applications though.
I'm going to try it in the tuilrt first. I live in an apartment that was built in 1974. The porcelain is shot and the stains are severe. TY for all your videos!!
I use HP for cleaning/sanitizing toothbrushes, rinsing my mouth 2-3 times per week (diluted with water) removing blood/various stains from fabrics, wiping door knobs and coutertops and all over the bathrooms and drains!!!
If you don't dilute with water for mouth rinse it is more effective for stain removal. As long as you don't have teeth sensitivity and only leave it in for 30 seconds to a minute. A dentist as well as my great grandma told me that
Hi! I just found your channel from a RUclips creator advice video, and I am IN LOVE. I love everything about cleaning and organizing :) I am subscribed now!
For burn injuries, I use a paste of soda bicarb, smoothed onto burn, cover with damp cloth, bandage it with a damp elastic roll & leave. It works a treat! Both soda bicarb & hydrogen peroxide are essential in first aid kits too!
I buy big gallons from Sally's and use it to clean everything, mixed with water, of course. I put it into the tall milky white spray bottles and add water. It is effective for a long time, and doesn't degrade. For food items I use food grade 30% mixed with water.
I have only used peroxide to apply to bed bug spots on sheet every morning . Cover with a sheet to keep sun off. Stains gone by bed time. The grossest things. I got rid of bugs now.
Depending on the material, I have been able to get blood stains out of some items weeks later as long as the item hasnt been washed in a machine give it a shot. This worked really well on my carpets after a cat attack caused a trail oof blood through my place on search of methods to stop the bleeding. A month later I was still finding stains and peroxide still cleared them all.
I always put a few drops in my cut flower vase. Water stays clean and clear for days and flowers last a couple of weeks. Change the water after 5-7 days. Same thing again.
We use Hydrogen Peroxide 1st for cuts, puncture wounds etc. The bubbling up cleans the wound and prevents infection.Works every time, and not as painful as alcohol. Also good for mouth sores.
Fortunate to have a friend who has taught me many of these hacks. I was fascinated by your bin...I save food scraps for the garden and it looked perfect! Also my bathroom is so small all facial brushes stay in a drawer & I keep my toothbrush in the kitchen. The idea of the plume really grosses me out. Which leads to the first thing I will clean w/ hydrogen peroxide today: my toilet! Thanks for the great tips and visual examples!
I use it as mouth wash for teeth whitening. Suggestion given to me by a dentist. I rinse with it AFTER brushing my teeth, so it stays on and does the job.
I used to use it for cleaning small wounds and blood stains all the time. But for the past couple of months I’m looking for better cleaning products which are better for the environment and my personal health. So I might try all of those uses for hydrogen peroxide. 😊
I used to put it on the collars of my drooly toddlers shirts before throwing in the wash. Killed the mildewy smell that would get stuck from all the drool.
I have a huge bottle of hydrogen peroxide, I was looking for ideas on how to use it. now I'll use it for my toilet. ( My husband bought it for getting rid of black mould, but we ended up using vinegar instead).
I recently bought a bottle of hydrogen peroxide and rubbing alcohol at the grocery store and thought it was so odd the the HP was in the clear bottle and the alcohol was in a brown bottle! I told everyone in the house to be aware of which bottle they grab. Now I need to go check if they were mislabeled! Glad I saw this.. I just knew it was in a brown bottle my whole life and thought it was so odd (and dumb) they change it

I have found that hydrogen peroxide does a great job in cleaning the stains after I pick up the barf or hair ball. I’ve always used it for disinfecting my toothbrushes, and I use it on my cutting boards. I also will a capful to my waterpik flosser to not only keep the tube clean, but it does a great job in keeping gums healthy. At almost 69, I still have all of my teeth!
Time to get rid of your sloppy cats !!!

during the first pandemic lockdown I was washing my reusable bags after every grocery shop. Now I haven't done it in at least 3 months. I guess I should get back to at least a monthly clean of those. Melissa, I love all your tips and your channel. You are a Godsend. Thank you. 🙏🏻
Also setting them out in the sunshine should help
🤔 Be right back.
It's also good for teeth whitening. My dentist recommends it. Just use it a few times/week diluted with a bit of water. Swish it around well in your mouth and spit it out.
I will never put that stuff in my mouth, I heard that if you accidentally swallow it, you throw up immediately! Don’t wanna experience that! 🤢

Oh thanks for letting us know that the grout cleaner worked. I'll be trying that tomorrow.
My sister made a paste of OxiClean (has h2o2) and put it on her grout, then used a brush that goes on a drill to scrub it. She said it worked great, but then you have to seal it!
I actually found some hydrogen peroxide at a store that came with a spray nozzle already. I was so excited when I found it. .lol

My dentist has me put a capful of HP in my water pick (fill the rest with water) to help with gingivitis
What a good idea!! Thanks for the tip.
If You use tap water, the chemicals in the water will cancel out the Peroxide. You should only use DISTILLED water in Your waterpik. It will keep the machine from gumming up with chems and hard water.
Mine too.
I hope your dentist told you to use medical grade hydrogen peroxide, not the cleaning kind.
@@ritacampbell3833 Peroxide is peroxide, unless it specifies FOR CLEANING, on the label! :)
Thanks for the science tip too : )
Be careful about inhaling the stuff if you spray it. I will not spray it, myself.
I appreciate you speaking very clearly and direct
Before cleaning the toilet pump the water so that its just below the water line. You also leave your toilet brush in the bowl while you flush as this will rinse your brush and remove any nasties. The brush doesn’t block the water from going down. Just a trick I use.
How to you pump the water?
I use the disposable toilet brushes. Feels cleaner for me
Grout and toilet bowl are gonna be my first try with it
Thank you so much❤️
Attaching spray to the bottle is a very good easy fix
Will clean toilet bowel, bathroom grout and spray the big outside garbage bins( always on my mind how to clean them)
I use hydrogen peroxide for all of those tasks and more. I love it because instead of releasing chemicals in the air it releases oxygen when it dries. Also great for glass surfaces including windows, mirrors, tv screens and cellphones. Remember to use gloves if working with it full strength.
Diluted vinegar is also an excellent glass cleaner. Works far better than ammonia, which is toxic anyway
Produce
That’s an awesome suggestion! Thank you!
I always need to stock up on it😉
Btw... during quarantine... everything brought into the house got sprayed with hydrogen peroxide, left for a few mins... wiped off then put away.
Don't know if anyone has mentioned this already, but someone told me it's an inexpensive version of mouthwash, tried it, doesn't taste good but works.
I dab the head of my toothbrush in it brush it around my teeth then use my tooth past once a day I have great white teeth. 70 years old 😊
I'm actually excited to attach a spray bottle nozzle to the peroxide bottle. Who knew??🤷♀️

i find it cheaper to use vinegar, hydrogen peroxide is quite expensive because there is little quantity in those brown bottles. I can get a big bottle of vinegar for 2 dollars, versus the peroxide 1.50, and the vinegar last much longer and is just as effective.
The lady did seem to use almost half a bottle each time.
So true. I was thinking the same thing! I wash my produce in vinegar water. Use 1 oz. vinegar in a pint spray bottle w/ a little (10-15 ml) of Mrs. Meyer's liquid soap for an AP cleaner. I'm still loving the uses for H2O2.
I will try it as a grout cleaner first. Thanks a lot for all your advice!
First I’ll be trying it for my kitchen garbage bin! I like how you mention it kills the odour causing bacteria 🦠
I was using white vinegar on my cutting board!
I love using hydrogen peroxide in my house. I mix it with Dawn and hot water in my bissel crosswave for my hard floors, I mix it with my enzymatic cleaner and spray on my carpets before shampooing, I spray it on any blood stains on fabric.
Love this channel. LOTS of practical advice.
I love using peroxide on my off white bed sheets instead of bleach. It works so well getting any stains out.

thank you thank you...i use it for everything you described plus on a very stubborn porcelain floor that for years i could not clean. But i used water and peroxide and now it looks brand new. thx.
Oh my gosh, trying the grout cleaner literally right now! Lol I've been looking for ways to make my home look newer. I started polishing the sink and all metals in my kitchen too, streak free thanks to your recipes ☺
Does grout cleaner work.
@@sandybrownonyt it works pretty well for all natural healthier alternative, you'll have to be patient and it will require a bit more effort on your part!
But if you are not opposed to using something a bit stronger and if the above method isn't working as well as you'd like...my all time favorite method is toilet bowl cleaner with preferably with
bleach the one with the little nozzle that fits perfectly under toilet ring thing, you know the one Im talking about right!
Lol
Then have a bucket of warm water near you with a cleaning rag and after you scrub it wipe it off really well after you're done I'd rinse your entire floor with just a mop plain water you might want to rinse it twice.
Meaning after you rinse the entire area once, throw that water out and start with fresh bucket clean water and go over it one more time especially if you have pets or small children
P.s it is extremely important to have windows doors open you must have a lot of ventilation again first time I did it my dog even though was in separate room had trouble breathing I had to take her outside for a very long walk turned on all the fans etc now im also in a very small 1 bedroom condo but still! Scary!
