  • Alex Murdaugh’s defense attorney, Dick Harpootlian, cross-examined the Clerk of Courts on Monday after she outright denied tampering with the jury in the convicted killer’s murder trial. Harpootlian grilled Rebecca “Ms. Becky” Hill with a strong line of questions regarding her behavior with jurors and the book she wrote about the trial, including claims she told them not to be fooled by Murdaugh’s testimony, threatened to withhold smoke breaks until a verdict was reached, and included lies in her book to make more money.

so.... this is the first time in your life you ever noticed somebody profitted from sharing their experience on a job? Being the Roadie with a rock band, being a judge for 20 years, being the assistant to a governor, a president, a major? You have a lot to learn in life. And her testimony here, shows she did not tamper with the jury, she wrote a book AFTER, the trial that had her opinions. (And obviously she told some fibs, and plagiarized... but that is not the point.)

This is crazy. I still think/believe a jury would find him guilty, but to tamper with a jury in any way is not an acceptable thing to do. Sometimes, people take their positions too seriously, maybe by feeling the power they have and then let their thoughts and/or opinions slip that shouldn't. I don't think those jurors would lie and say she said or did something that she didn't; however, even if he is afforded a new trial, I think the verdict would likely be the same as the first.

A juror said their vote to convict was influenced by her, which means that without her involvement and manipulation it might have been a hung jury or even an acquittal. She influenced the jury, there is no way to deny or downplay that. The verdict was tainted. In sports you put an asterisk next to a game or a season but in the justice system there is no asterisk, there is a mistrial.

Even if somehow he gets another trial, he will lose again. Even if he somehow won that retrial, he’s dying in prison on financial crimes that are never ever getting thrown out. He plead guilty so he has no recourse. So the only reason this would suck is it would cost the state another heap of money to do another trial where the result really means nothing. The other thing is to clear his name if he won, to him and some peeps that’s a big deal but for most of us, we know he did it. We will see where this goes but he’s dying in prison regardless.

But S.C. does not have millions of dollars for a retrial. If they do the retrial, it will cost the poor in that state everything they got. I see another lady in the background, in the people's sitting, the mother of the young man who was murdered on a dirt road. Why is she in the court room? Did she suspect that Alex M, or his son's had something to do with his death? That has never been proven. Shame on this nation for not abiding by the constitutional laws.
