@@reginaldeberhart8521 its not that he is killed, its how he is killed. In genisys he is a villain, which is a good idea, just the execution is bad. John Connor becoming a terminator is a original idea. He dies in Dark Fate because they want an all women cast.
@@GasolineProductions my point is that killed the franchise. Should've stayed with the original story line. Salvation wasn't a bad movie, I was more interested in the future. Not going back to that time traveling formula!!
I had issues with Jai Courtney's portrayal of Kyle Reese. Michael Biehn's Kyle Reese was extremely grim. He rarely laughs or smiles throughout the film. We see that he's plagued by nightmarish flashbacks and hypervigilance. It's easy enough to see that growing up in a post apocalyptic wasteland and being endlessly pursued by giant killer robots can cause a case of ptsd like Kyle's. Biehn's performance at times can get a little over the top, perhaps even Shatnerian at times, but Biehn effectively conveys the character of a tortured soul who knows the fate of the world rests on his shoulders. Jai on the other hand is constantly flippant and spouting out quips. He seems to think he's Spider Man or Jack Sparrow rather than Kyle Reese. Even if the film is aimed at a younger audience, this detracts from the film.
Ironically,Arnold was the worst thing about Genesis))) He guy was acting as if he was in a comedy movie. Plus, he did not even look like a terminator. who ever did his make up should be fired.
Pedro - an "operative" system? Perhaps you meant "operating"? Regardless of the mythical brand name, putting a badly spelled word in a movie title was annoying.
Honestly, I think John Connor being miscast in this movie did way more damage than anything else. Future Connor is supposed to be this epic military hero, and Jason Clarke... was not that. It started the movie on a bad note, a note which did not get any better. Even when he was the good John Connor, Jason Clarke still came off as a B- Bond Villain.
what got me was they revealed John Connor as a terminator in the trailer, so when they meet him in the car park scene there was no surprises there at all
trailer reviles have always been a problem with that franchise. The john Conner revile in genesis, the Marcus wright revile in salvation, hell even Arnnie's intro in t2 was spoiled by trailers. If go back and look at the scene where young John Conner is running from the nice policeman after getting caught shoplifting, runs into Arnold pulling a shot gun and runs back to the police officer only to have Arnnie save his life. That whole thing was obviously intended as a surprise bait and switch.
"Salvation" is not a prequel and does not take place before the first film. It is a direct sequel to "Rise of the Machines" (despite the fact that John and Kate are recast) and takes place in the same timeline established in the first three films.
Incorrect. In the beginning of "Salvation", it is made clear that Judgment Day does not occur until the early 2000's. Very much like the end of "Rise of the Machines". In the original timeline, Judgment Day occurred in 1997.
I disagree. John hooking up with Kate (a character that wasn't created until the writing of the third film) and Judgment Day happening in the early 2000s are key elements in "Rise of the Machines", which are both referenced in "Salvation".
As formulaic blockbuster movies go, it was all right. BUT Generic, forgettable, and ruins John Connor sounds pretty awful relative to what is expected of a Terminator movie.
That was the first episode of a trilogy, that John Connor might as well be a fucking clone and you people ruined the surprise by complaining without waiting for the story to end. Even if the story ended up being shitty, at least let it finish before complaining.
The actor portraying John Connor was totally unconvincing as John Connor in this movie. I couldn't take him seriously in that role. It ruined the movie for me.
The fight between 2 Arnolds was pretty good. And it should stay as this - short movie, one scene. After this fight, the movie was getting worse and worse and the final chase was so annoying I almost fell asleep.
Yes, in the original film she develops the character during the movie, growing from a girl-next-door waitress, scared of everything to someone capable of protecting both her child on her own, and the future of mankind. Here we have a fat-ass feminist character ordering around everyone from moment zero. Yawn.
The real big problem with Jai Courtney isn't his performance, it's the fact he's a giant Arnold like big bodybuilder guy. Kyle Reese was a scrapper, with an average body type; not super tall, not super buff, etc. I could NEVER get over the massive difference in that casting.
Eh, it can happen. Maybe not even consciously. Just want to show lockstep in the idea women can be action heroes at any build, so they have to make others the villains, to be 'sensitive' to others...
Cry snowflake cry. Arnold was the villain in the first movie? Has wasn't a white dude then? The T-1000 in T-2 wasn't a white dude as well? You snowflakes on both the left and right aren't any different. Always claiming victimhood.
I didn't find anything all that wrong with Genysis. What I absolutely hated was the fact that the trailer completely destroyed the twist. It's actually the reason that if I know a particular movie is coming out I will avoid all promotional material for that movie.
Seriously. One of the most successful ad campaigns ever was the Aliens campaign and they never even showed any footage from the film. When it comes to suspense, less is more. I don't know how the so called "professionals" don't get this.
Yes, the movie is crap. Because they are to scared to tell a story that doesnt include anything from the first two movies. Even the comics did more where they had a terminator family and a terminator dog in our world to kill someone.
"Because they are to scared to tell a story that doesnt include anything from the first two movies" Well then... should they have made a romantic comedy, called it "jacob" and just said it was part of the "Terminator" franchise?
@FocusFanatic if you're talking about Sarah connor you are mistaken and wrong just rewatched it. I honestly even enjoyed genisys more than terminator 3. My list is terminator 1. Terminator 2. Terminator salvation and genisys
At least this terminator has a better ending Sarah is saved, Kyle is saved, the humanity is saved, the T-800 Didn't get destroyed(he just got upgraded) and John probably would live in a normal life in the future.
I used to be a big fan of Linda Hamilton. Back then Sarah Connor really had a journey, where she started out as an almost pure damsel and turned into a woman who you could believe would kick your ass, because she would fight tooth and nail with no regards for her own safety if she has to in order to win and I think Hamilton brought that to the screen perfectly. Back then Sarah Connor was an inspiring hero for everyone.
Exactly! We didn't need to have a 12 year old Emilia in this movie to give us this whole "women are strong" idea. It was already there! Sara Connor, Ellen ripley, and many others showed us that women are tough. Sure, she is a damsel for a bit in the first one, but she toughens up toward the end and is a complete badass in T2. Killing her off for T3 was criminal.
It was the first terminator movie to really try and expand the story into new potential directions. The script and tone of the movie could have been a lot better, but the concept and story behind it all really opens up new possibilities in the terminator universe. I also love the idea of John being the villain, a lot of people don't like it but to me it makes perfect sense, if skynet could use the one strongest weapon the humans had why wouldn't they, especially as everything else they have done to get rid of john has failed. People say it messes up the timeline but the terminator timeline was messed up from the first movie. Overall its not the best terminator movie by a long shot but its nowhere near as bad as people make it out to be in my opinion, its better than 3 and salvation and far better than dark fate and out of all the terminator movies it offers the most potential to expand the story which is something the series desperately needs. I think people are just very hung up on their experiences as children watching terminator and T2 and still have not learned to let that go.
I was worried all the way up to 6:00 that you were going to praise the movie.... relieved! You did a wonderful job of creating and building and sustaining tension! You made me care, you made me want to find out what would happen next, you had me invested, and you resolved what you set up for a satisfying conclusion. Well done! Incidentally your brief review did all the things that the movie in question didn’t. Double kudos!
Hey, to this film's credit, if the trilogy _had_ occurred, John _could_ have been salvaged, along with his character. With Dark Fate out now? Oh, no...
That's what I've been saying this whole time. I loved genisys because it tried something different on a tired old trope. Also everyone saying sarah was a feminazi in that one are overlooking that Kyle reese was action heavy in it too.
@@GODCONVOYPRIME i agree. As much as Genisys was a very mediocre movie, i was still intrigued to see what direction it could take. There was room to expand upon that and make something great. Instead we got three Terminator films in a row trying to be the "Real" Terminator 3... all of which make Terminator 3 seem really good by comparison.
CORTNEY was NOT OK. He never is! hes the most wooden actor ever- literally destroyed the die hard movies and how he portrayed Reese... i mean WOW. He really either gets acting lessons or retires!
The worst, by far, is Dark Fate. Salvation sucked because it didn't have Arnold. But if turned it into a trilogy set ENTIRELY in the dystopian future, then it would have been awesome!!!
Back when I watched T1 and T2 I always invisioned John Connor to be this huge beast of a man with a dark cold look to his face with deep scars that tell the story. Then I watch genisyis and see this little shrimp that hardly looks like a leader
Perfect summation. This movie made me realize Hollywood is ALWAYS capable of new lows. Like going into the heart of a beloved franchise's mythos and reveling in its utter disdain for it.
Terminator Genisys was the absolute worst. The other four movies follow a simple straightforward plot of having to protect John and keep him alive for his victory against Skynet. The decision to turn him into the main baddie and have him try to kill his parents before they have a chance to mate (as "Pops" so eloquently puts it) just goes to show that the writers stopped giving a fuck halfway through the film, and if they don't give a fuck, then why should I? The 1984 part of the film was decent enough though, and it actually would have been much better had the entire film just taken place there with the T-1000 as the main villain, even if the end result would have been like a bizarre mashup of T1 & T2. It'd be much better than what we actually got.
I thought the humans destroyed the time machine just after sending Reece through in the original movie? Now it seems they didn't and that time travel may be a two-way street. If that is the case, why didn't Skynet specially program a few Terminators in tradecraft and to avoid conflict, and send them back to do genealogical research on Sarah, Reece and a few others. They could bury that information in secure locations, multiple copies, for Skynet to find later. Then spam the past with Terminators to kill Reece and other resistance leader families before the leader in question was born? or have Terminators on standby at the time of Skynet's rise to kill them before they can react? That's the kind potential they get when they change the rules of the universe the original movie established.
Not only it's a bad movie on his own merit(shitty CGI,bad acting, story full of plotholes) but it also makes everything that happened in the first 2 classic movies, obsolete. The second movie has a perfect ending which never needed a sequel, but greedy Hollywood is gonna milk this franchise into oblivion. The only Terminator movie,I would like to watch, would be a prequel, set in the future, showing John Connor fighting the machines, directed by James Cameron,Rated-R and in the same style,as the flashbacks from T1,but sadly they ruined this idea already with T4:Salvation.
I will agree for the most part, with the giant looming exception of the plot point of multiple simultaneously existing timelines (or perhaps dimensions, we never really get to flesh that out) that the Skynet entity (Matt Smith) came from being very original, particularly in comparison with the rest of the ideas in the movie. I really would like to have seen more of that. I'm likely in the minority there, I'm sure.
In a word: yes! I'm a huge Terminator fan, I even love 3 and "Salvation", but "Genisys" (what's up with the pseudo edgy spelling?) was unwatchable crap, and I turned it off after a few minutes. Jai Courtney is awful in everything he does, somebody even said in a RUclips video: "Hollywood, stop trying to make Jai Courtney happen." On a side note, RUclips's "censor bot" obviously has a very limited vocabulary, otherwise it would know that "bastardization" is a perfectly legitimate and unoffensive word. Maybe they should download a dictionary.
On behalf of all Australians I would like to apologies for Jai Courtney for some reason Hollywood seems to think that this guy is an "Actor" ditto for Sam Worthington
strugen We forgive you, as Australia more than makes up for a few duds with awesome action stars with acting chops from Errol Flynn to Hugh Jackman to Chris Hemsworth, etc.
No, this movie tried something different FINALLY and kinda showed how the paradox keeps overlapping and causing time to collapse on itself. Though not well executed, i commend it for at least being different. Unlike dark fate that was the EXACT SHIT WE HAVE SEEN 5 TIMES
Yea casting for Sarah Connor was preatty horrible. Dialogs were trash. Pseudo feminist agenda pushing atrocious. I liked story tho. Yea it had a lot of recycled element but i found it interesting on how they put them together. And I was geniuinly suprised by John turn to the dark side. And I found him preaty intimidating with whole nanomachine shtick. Ending was stupid and shallow. If Pops had really sacrificed himself that would add some gravity to this ending, some meaning. That way it is another lets leve ourselves easy way to a sequel.
Was Jericho (tv show) really that bad next, please Dave. it's from the 2000's had 2 seasons got cancelled, it was on Netflix. Don't know if it's still there but I've watched and really loved. If you watched/watch's it I would love to hear what you think of it Davie.
I USED to like this BUT now I freaking HATE this movie, it completely screws over the franchise and takes a crap on the only two GOOD movies in the Terminator Franchise: The 1984 and 1991 films, although granted, Terminator Salvation is a little more descent then this piece of crap movie
I’ve been rewatching the Terminator movies and I really didn’t mind Genisys, it wasn’t good but it was bad either. Granted, they borrowed a lot from the first two movies but it had a story and it moved, it was better than Salvation. But it established in this movie that the humans won the war and Skynet lost, so its traveling through different timelines or parallel worlds to find out if it ever wins. Who sent the T-800 to save little Sarah? It wasn’t the John in the Genysis timeline because he infected by the techno virus that changed him into the T-3000, could it be that John is fighting Skynet through multiverses instead of different timelines, that would be really cool to explore. But, being Hollywood and all, they’ll never touch that along with never having a Future War movie. I get the feeling that Dark Fate is going to be the same thing as the other movies and not mean anything and further taints the franchise. Until Cameron gets the rights to the Terminator series I’m still calling all of these movies canon and keep praying we’ll have a true sequel and end this series on a high note.
I actually kinda like it. I will agree it destroys previously established canon but really when it comes to time travel, I'm willing to make an accomodations and possibilities for alternate time lines.
I actually enjoyed it for what it was. If we are going to imagine time travel, alternate realities exist everywhere. Many people crushed Emilia Clarke for her portrayal of Sarah Connor, but I thought she was excellent as the alternate reality Sarah.
I enjoyed Genisys, but I've always enjoyed the science and technology more than human characteristics...that is, I like watching the Terminators in action, and the consequences of time travel; I don't care about John Connor's humanity or Sarah Connor's transformation to a survivor/warrior, never have...the T-800 (or T-850 in T3) has always been my favorite character. I like the science in 'sci-fi' more than the fiction.
Rj Diggs Actually, I'm very intelligent. I write software for a living, and watch documentaries about cutting edge technology and physics for fun. I've had people suggest I study to be a physicist, but I know I'm not quite that smart.
Great idea, maybe go into films that are under rated and under the radar like you did with Tron Legacy also? nice one man. Looking forward to more videos like this. Take care and all the best.
Honestly, I feel that John Connor is the McGuffin of the Terminator movies. He's just an excuse to keep Arnie and Sarah Connor's adventures moving forward. I don't judge this actress height as a reason to not accept her portrayal of Sarah Connor. She seems more capable for the role than replacement Kyle Reese. I don't know...Maybe people look different than their alternate timeline Doppelgangers? It's not a great movie and sure didn't live up to the first 3 movies, but it was a decent popcorn flick. What did you really expect? I will see the new one with Linda Hamilton, but my sites are set low so as not to be disappointed. Who knows? It may be the Citizen Kane of killer robot movies.
I really liked Genisys. I think people should start realizing that these movies are science fiction, not science fact. When T2 came out the special effects were cutting edge. I feel audiences are spoiled these days with the commonplace technology we have as for as special effects go. Had Genisys come out 1991, it would've been as big as a hit as T2 because of the special effects. Are there plot holes? Yes, but show me one sc-fi hit movie that doesn't have plot holes.
Your post is really elitist. When did audiences say this was science fact? What this movie gets wrong is the story, the characters, and the effects are 80% garbage.
I'm going to take the controversial stance. As a long-time fan of the Terminator films and the Sarah Connor Chronicles TV show, overall Terminator Genisys is really good. The two main things people complain about are trashing the legacy of previous films and that the casting of Genesis was piss-poor. First let's discuss trashing the legacy of Terminator. Skynet is trying to destroy Humanity, and the way that it attempts to do this consistently through the films and show is to either kill or corrupt the Connors. It uses terminators, it uses time travel, it even uses humans who have been corrupted to meet this goal. How does using Nanobots to corrupt John Connors body become a betrayal to Terminators tone, universe and legacy? I understand that people really like the characters of John and Sarah Connor. But how does Skynet using new technology to meet its end goal and succeeding, in any way contradict or stop being believable in The Terminator universe? Please set aside your holy cows and think about it logically. Even Goku died occasionally in Dragon Ball Z. I look forward to the "reeeeee" response to this question. The second complaint is the casting. I agree that the guy that played Kyle Reese is completely wrong. I can kind of see what they were going with Sarah's character, they were trying to go for an actress who looked as close to Linda Hamilton as possible, even if she is a womanlet. I disagree that the guy playing John Connor was a poor casting choice, and this is because I saw Christian Bales performance playing John Connor, as well as that fucking awful teenager from Terminator 3. Out of everyone who's played John Connor, the latest entry is a breath of fresh air compared to previous performances. Arnold Schwarzenegger is of course the star of the show and he was the best part of this movie. I really enjoyed the Father Figure angle, as well as the humanizing of T800, where he is literally falling apart trying to protect those he loves. Terminator Genisys is not the worst Terminator movie, but it's not the best one either. It's above average if you were to grade all of them together. And by that metric Terminator Genisys is really good.
Honestly, if you kind of look at it in a Multiverse theory kinda way, it's easy to overlook a lot of the issues. However, I do think that Jason Clark and Jai Courtney are the most bland people on this earth and I could not pick either out of a lineup if they robbed me without a mask. There were a few interesting parts of this movie, such as the Terminator getting a job in construction to help build the escape room at the end (I'd totally watch that as a Netflix series), or the detective who was going on about the robots and no one believing him. I did like the acid melting the T1000, and Sarah randomly shooting one of them because she had no idea which was which. There were some cool little parts of the movie, but on the whole they were just small ideas. Like a brainstorming conversation with a bunch of nerd friends at 3 am on a gaming night. Other than that, I think this movie is endemic of Hollywood right now: just a watered down cash grab that takes no real risks. A few parts were cool, but why bother? I just think of it as the Crap Universe, and move on. I don't hate it, but I'm not gonna race out to see the next one after this one was so bland. Even Ridley Scott is not immune to this, just watch Alien Covenant. He and everyone else forgot what made the Alien so terrifying. It was just out there, with no idea where it came from. I didn't need to know that some fucked up robot playing God decided to create them for weird reasons. It's just dumb. I know Jim Cameron gave this movie his blessing, but I don't think he really cares either at this point.
Someone did a great video on the Terminator timeline. Which totally explains why this movie makes a lot of sense. I actually really like Genysis and I have been a Terminator fan since I was a kid. I even just watched T3 which I hated but now I like. I don't think this guy gets it. T3 was such a rehash of T2 and he ate it up...makes no sense.
Emilia Clarke said nobody liked working on this movie, and that she was relieved there wasn't a sequel (to the Genisys timeline version). That about sums it up.
xD Yeah, it's probs the last one I'll ever watch in my case. Imo they just got progressively weaker after 2. Don't get the hate for 3, I think it's the last decent one.
One thing that got me was how 'stoppable' Terminators were in this film. Remember where you would go through a Terminator film and wonder, 'how can we stop this future machine with modern-day weapons?' The fact that Sarah can easily stop a T-800 with that rifle, and Kyle blows it's head off? With that kind of logic, all Kyle in the 84 film had to do was take that explosive and aim for the thing's neck.
On its own, this film is actually OK. But when you compare to the other Terminator movies, this one is very forgettable. And from what you said sir, the new one is even worse than this!
Yes. It was painful to watch. I don't pay much attention to what movies are coming out or do I look at reviews. I didn't even know this thing was out so I watched it when I had the opportunity and my God this thing was fucking terrible.
This is how I felt when the first Tom Cruise Mission Impossible movie came out. I watched Mission Impossible as a kid and later in my teens...and they decided to kill off the crew, only have Tom Cruise survive, and make JIM the bad guy?! It really felt like a middle finger from Hollywood.
I liked certain small parts of it, I think showing the resistance fighters fighting the terminators with their own technology at the beginning was an interesting twist, and kinda shows us how the resistance might have been somewhat effective at times (which is good, cause it always hard to believe they could be effective at all in most of the other movies). The idea of making Skynet into a cloud based operating system made by a google like corporation rather than a military defense apparatus as also an interesting modern twist, its just a shame they didn't do anything with it. Also its kinda interesting seeing the effects they had from being in 1980's briefly (the returning cop for instance, who did a good job I think). on the more modern storyline, though it begs the question of why go to the 1980's at all if your going to spend such a short amount of time there. Also Arnold's performance was pretty entertaining throughout, and the CGI on "younger Arnold" was pretty interesting to see. To me the movie is average, definitely not even close to the standard set by T2 which was an unexpected classic, but i wouldn't call it terrible either.
They had T2 and Genisis on TV at the same time on different channels last night so I was able to flip back and forth between the two films. The contrast couldn't be more stark: The 30-year-old film was better in every way: from the look of the shots, the sets and lighting, to the pacing and framing of the action - and the real-life stunts looked infinitely more impressive than the sleep-inducing CGI nonsense of Genisis.
Yeah, they could've done a lot better. For instance that scene where Kyle see's Connor being attacked by a terminator could've been cut out so it just would've been a T-3000 trying to mimic John Connor in order to mess with their heads. Maybe they could've added hints here and there to suggest that the "standard Time-War" that was happening in the first two films is growing through the addition of agents from alternate timelines. Or, perhaps more believably, that Skynet managed to hide a portion of itself and just enough resources in some remote/desolate part of the world to focus exclusively on the Time-War until it either achieves a win or the Resistance can scrounge up enough resources to do a thorough search for it. Then again the studio could've just taken that movies budget ($155 Million?) and used it to fund a bunch of smaller films.
There were some good moments. I liked it when Terminator Connor is stuck in the scanner, struggling against it to break free, and its partly suggestive like the evolution of man. If I'm honest, I wouldn't mind being nanobotted strong and healthy and able to recover from major injury.
Oh yeah, I did actually like the dual memory thing too. That's how always I thought things would work out in Back to the Future for Marty. He'd be disorientated for a while but eventually, he'd have 2 sets of memories. He get's to keep his old memories due to exposure to time travel... just my take on it.
One thing that’s weird; in T1 Kyle explains that they had Skynet against the wall, and sending the Terminator back was it’s last ditch effort to survive. After Kyle goes after it the time machine was supposed to be destroyed to prevent any more machines messing with the past. So that would make everything (even the near perfect T2) nonsensical UNLESS something stops John Connor from breaking the time machine (something like Genesys)

There are only 2 terminators as far as I'm concerned
4 was decent, 3 was watchable, but yes, ultimately there are only 2. Same with Alien and Predator-franchise.
I really liked The Sarah Conner Chronicles as a series and felt really let down that the movies just pissed all over it.
Bad? No. Generic and forgettable, that also commits the sin of ruining John Connor.
Or Nick Stahl (I found T3 underrated)
It really wasn't 'good' though, come on.
As formulaic blockbuster movies go, it was all right.
BUT
Generic, forgettable, and ruins John Connor sounds pretty awful relative to what is expected of a Terminator movie.
and ruining Kyle Reese.
Yes it was. It retroactively striped away everything that made Sara Conner an interesting character.
Yes, in the original film she develops the character during the movie, growing from a girl-next-door waitress, scared of everything to someone capable of protecting both her child on her own, and the future of mankind. Here we have a fat-ass feminist character ordering around everyone from moment zero. Yawn.
"stripped", not 'striped'. Lol
"Sarah", not 'Sara'.
Yes Dave. Yes it was.
YouthInEyesAsian oh fuck yeah, it was a terrible movie.
your moms are a terrible movie :v
it was bad, but not that bad in my opinion. Casting was unforgivably bad though.
Fuck, I don''t really need to watch this video, I agree with you.
its better than 1,3 and 4... so hardly a bad movie
Yes it is that bad.
But dark fate massacred our boy even worse
The real big problem with Jai Courtney isn't his performance, it's the fact he's a giant Arnold like big bodybuilder guy. Kyle Reese was a scrapper, with an average body type; not super tall, not super buff, etc. I could NEVER get over the massive difference in that casting.
Yes Genisys was a trainwreck but I would choose it any day over Dark Fate?
Of course they made John Connor the villain...he's a white male!
I don't know why people need to bring race up all of the time? I am not sure Dave wants racists like you hanging around.
But the T1000 knockoff is Asian.
[In 3 years]
Was Terminator Dark Fate really that bad? - Yes
Dark Fate made this movie look decent by comparison and makes T3 and Salvation look like cinematic gold
I didn't find anything all that wrong with Genysis. What I absolutely hated was the fact that the trailer completely destroyed the twist. It's actually the reason that if I know a particular movie is coming out I will avoid all promotional material for that movie.
absolutely. the trailer revealed everything. luckily the advertiser didn't do the sixth sense
Seriously. One of the most successful ad campaigns ever was the Aliens campaign and they never even showed any footage from the film. When it comes to suspense, less is more. I don't know how the so called "professionals" don't get this.
The movie was shit. Be honest with yourself instead of playing devil's advocate
Doc Holliday
There are many things I dislike about it, but come on, the ‘bad boys’ music during the mugshots, breaking through the fourth wall?!!?
Your not fooling anyone. This movie was the biggest train wreck in any franchise ever
Yes, the movie is crap. Because they are to scared to tell a story that doesnt include anything from the first two movies. Even the comics did more where they had a terminator family and a terminator dog in our world to kill someone.
"Because they are to scared to tell a story that doesnt include anything from the first two movies"
Well then... should they have made a romantic comedy, called it "jacob" and just said it was part of the "Terminator" franchise?
True and this is applies to the new Disney star wars franchise. Nothing but a huge rehash and executed poorly.
"Was Terminator Genisys Really That Bad?" Yes, yes it was.
So was T3
@@Lama-Su at least T3 didn't ruin the previous movies.
I loved geneysis, more than t3.
@@bimapringgo Yup
@@amehak1922 Good for you I guess
At least they didn't kill John Connor off in this movie and rewrite the future completely and replace it with a feminator feminazi fantasy.
@FocusFanatic if you're talking about Sarah connor you are mistaken and wrong just rewatched it. I honestly even enjoyed genisys more than terminator 3. My list is terminator 1. Terminator 2. Terminator salvation and genisys
Better dead then genesis 🤢🤮
Joker Syniclus Agreed man. Genisys is not actually that bad.
@@georgechapman9688 Dumbass better a villian than Dark Fate atleast John Connor can change back to a hero than die for nothing.
At least this terminator has a better ending Sarah is saved, Kyle is saved, the humanity is saved, the T-800 Didn't get destroyed(he just got upgraded) and John probably would live in a normal life in the future.
Short answer: yes.
Longer answer: yes it is.
Eliot McCann at least it’s not as bad as terminator salvation
ItsJxcob salvation wasn’t all that bad in my opinion
There were only 3 canonical entries in the Terminator franchise: The Terminator, Terminator 2: Judgement Day & Terminator: Sarah Connor Chronicles.
Psycho Drummer I think T3 really gave a good plot to finally take the franchise into the future but salvation wanted to do its own thing like Genesys
Salvation is pretty good if you forget Sam Worthington was in it
I liked Salvation much better than this film. Bale was more convincing as John Connor.
That movie deserves more credit! The gritty atmosphere is a great achievement in itself.
Bale throwing his weight around to have a bigger role in the story didn't really do TS any favors. But he looked like adult John from T2
And it was better written. It could work as a prequel, rather than a sequel,
I haven't found anyone else who likes salvation
i liked only the first 2 films
Only the first two are needed. Although, I didn't hate Salvation as much as everyone else.
Salvation is decent. That's not saying much. It looks like a masterpiece compared to Genysis.
Rise of the Machines had a decent ending, and a few other good moments. Salvation was a bit ropey, but neat CGI and tech.
They are the best, and Salvation makes for a good prequel to them, given it takes place in the Future War.
Well they made JC the enemy but just imagine if they killed him off at the start of a terminator movie. Wow. Now that would really piss me off.
Terminator: Woke Fate does just that!
Kirby5413 I think he knew that already it was sarcasm
Yes I was being silly
Thank god that im not gona watch that shit in cinema
Why? It's not like he's pure narrative gold, just a human mcguffin that needs protecting
No, it was good and had so much potential, a part of me is upset that they didn't continue the trilogy
OMG!! YES!! I completely agree.
My terminator canon stops at Terminator Salvation
FDHNullachtneun
I consider Salvation a spin off everything after that is just fan fiction that James Cameron crapped out for a paycheck
Audience: How bad can you make movies, Hollywood?
Hollywood: Yes.
He was a good Captain Boomerang.
Fair enough. But he just WASN'T Kyle to me.
Anton Yelchin was MUCH better.
chris sonofpear1 totally agree! He even nailed the look and certain expressions of a young Kyle .
yes, it is the worst of the worst.
T3 is a godawfull 1:1 ripoff from T2. Genyshit are just scenes and has no story at all.
Terminator Salvation is the worst. So many plot holes.
The worst, by far, is Dark Fate.
Salvation sucked because it didn't have Arnold. But if turned it into a trilogy set ENTIRELY in the dystopian future, then it would have been awesome!!!
I find T3 and Salvation almost tied. And both are BETTER than GeniSys.
@@grantorino2325 TS sucked because it doesnt have Arnold???? Ok -_-
The young schwarzenegger is played by a body builder who looks just like Arnold his name is Brett Azar
Back when I watched T1 and T2 I always invisioned John Connor to be this huge beast of a man with a dark cold look to his face with deep scars that tell the story. Then I watch genisyis and see this little shrimp that hardly looks like a leader
When I got it on DVD years ago, I watched it at least half a dozen times. It is very enjoyable.
I really think you're over thinking this movie in a need to pick it apart. I thought it was really good.
‘Terminator 6’ coming in 2019, by James Cameron and Tim Miller. Linda Hamilton back as old Sarah Connor.
T1 & T2 are Terminator films. Everything else doesn't exist.
That is where the original ends, but I did like Salvation as it explored the Future War. Also, I hope the new film is good.
Wow you must be religious
Perfect summation. This movie made me realize Hollywood is ALWAYS capable of new lows. Like going into the heart of a beloved franchise's mythos and reveling in its utter disdain for it.
Do Terminator Salvation. I quite enjoyed that film.
Agreed!!
Me too. It works as a prequel to the first two.
They should have stuck with that route. I wanted more stories in the future war, not the present day.
It still had the problem of grabbing and throwing terminators -.- it's not good when you are rooting for the bad guy to just kill them already
MrSerious 3rd best film in my opinion. Actually stayed away from the time travel elements and focused on the early days of the war.
So basically you want the same movie over and over again or you won’t like it?
It wasn’t amazing, but it wasn’t horrible. I enjoyed it
@ That's some nice thing to read. I am happy that there are still good parents in this world, i am pretty sure your son loves you so much ! ^^
I still think it's a pretty good time. At least better than Dark Fate.
I have not seen it yet and I don’t want too.
You're not alone brother. I refuse to watch it as well.
good manweller1
lucky you
manweller1 youre not missing much. The review hits the key scenes of the movie.
You're losing nothing great. Honestly, the movie was just made for the optical effects... It's modern Hollywood unfortunately
John McSween You said it, bruh!
I think 'Genisys' was like a brand or the name of something. They weren't doing that to be l33t or something.
Evacer ok, I missed that, having ejected the movie in disgust after a few minutes
What’s funny is the trailers spoiled that john connor is a terminator...
Was Jericho (tv show) really that bad next, please Dave.
it's from the 2000's had 2 seasons got cancelled, it was on Netflix. Don't know if it's still there but I've watched and really loved.
If you watched/watch's it I would love to hear what you think of it Davie.
They should have just dropped the time travel stuff and just take place during the war.
Dark Fate will be 50 times worse..
Wrong
I USED to like this BUT now I freaking HATE this movie, it completely screws over the franchise and takes a crap on the only two GOOD movies in the Terminator Franchise: The 1984 and 1991 films, although granted, Terminator Salvation is a little more descent then this piece of crap movie
The CGI is literally perfect? Emilia Clarke is a great actress? You're losing it Dave.
Booshman
I don't think she's a bad actress at all. She's done some ok movies and she completely nails it as Dany from game of thrones every year.
Until Cameron gets the rights to the Terminator series I’m still calling all of these movies canon and keep praying we’ll have a true sequel and end this series on a high note.
i got nothing good to say about this movie.
Every time someone says Jay Courtney is OK I press thumbs down.
I liked it more then 3 and 4
I really enjoyed it as with ALL of the Terminator films.
Thank you.
Me: *Looks at the video and hasn't even clicked on it yet*
Also Me: "Yes, yes it really was that bad..."
people may hate this movie but the 1984 scene was badass af
i really liked it. alot more than the new star wars. or ghostbusters.
Jules Vallez that is like comparing dog shit to cat shit. Both are shit.
That's not saying much
I enjoyed Genisys, but I've always enjoyed the science and technology more than human characteristics...that is, I like watching the Terminators in action, and the consequences of time travel; I don't care about John Connor's humanity or Sarah Connor's transformation to a survivor/warrior, never have...the T-800 (or T-850 in T3) has always been my favorite character. I like the science in 'sci-fi' more than the fiction.
saying you liked it better than the new star wars and ghostbusters aint saying much

Actually, I'm very intelligent.
Short answer: yes - it was terrible.
Your closing argument was mint!
"emilia clarke is a good actress", funniest shit I've years all day
Honestly, I feel that John Connor is the McGuffin of the Terminator movies.
@@captainhowlerwilson508 elitist? Lol wtf are you talking about?
They should have kept the alternate ending to T2 where is shows and elderly Sara Conner watches here son who is a father playing with his daughter.
This film DOES have its own sense of identity: It is the first Terminator movie I have never watched.
xD Yeah, it's probs the last one I'll ever watch in my case. Imo they just got progressively weaker after 2. Don't get the hate for 3, I think it's the last decent one.
@@andrejz8954 I like 3 very much. I don't understand the hate for that either.
One thing that got me was how 'stoppable' Terminators were in this film.
Remember where you would go through a Terminator film and wonder, 'how can we stop this future machine with modern-day weapons?'
The fact that Sarah can easily stop a T-800 with that rifle, and Kyle blows it's head off? With that kind of logic, all Kyle in the 84 film had to do was take that explosive and aim for the thing's neck.
With the new movie coming out....
.genysis is actually decent LOL
Genysis is still a flaming bag of shit
it got even worse
On its own, this film is actually OK. But when you compare to the other Terminator movies, this one is very forgettable. And from what you said sir, the new one is even worse than this!
“Emilia Clarke is a great actress” hahahahahahaha that is the funniest shit you’ve ever said Dave.
Man were you on point with this one! You nailed the thing to the wall!
It was horrible
Yes. It was painful to watch. I don't pay much attention to what movies are coming out or do I look at reviews. I didn't even know this thing was out so I watched it when I had the opportunity and my God this thing was fucking terrible.
Was it bad? Absolutely... the thing is... it wasn’t a terminator movie... it was a terminator skit... a bad one.
About Terminator Dark Fate, Why did the T-800 kill John? Didn't it already drown in the lava factory??
Different one, same as asking how it was in T2 when it was squashed in T1
The worst line in the movie when pops shoots john,
sarah: why?
Kyle: because he's a killer
Really?? thats the best the writers could come up with??
If you haven't already, would you done one for T4? I really like that one, and I think it's truely Erie.
Future war parts were damn cool.
