You've got a solid point Jason. Even though the high res feature of the R model is very tempting, I have to admit that shooting massive raw files would be a pain in post and storage at times. The mark II seems like a more balanced choice.
I don't do video now days...I am happy with a pair of used A7c bodies along with an even older original A7s (low light work)...street work while retired in Bangkok. Cheers
Don't forget 1/4000 vs 1/8000 shutter. a7cR vs a7RV. Still i like the a7cR. Size is great for travel and rigging. And 12Bit RAW out is a big plus for me too.
I agree with you. If you are already spending that much on a camera just spend the extra on the a7RV. I am disappointed in the a7CR. I was waiting for the announcement thinking that would be the camera I'd get, but it ended up being the a7CII
I would love to have the budget to get the A7CR. 61 MP would be a dream! But then I see the price of the body and lenses, and I personally can’t possibly justify spending that much money on this hobby 🥲. Who knows, maybe someday
Thanks for raising the buffer depth concern with the A7C R. For me I think it is still a better fit. I can have half the number of primes initially by cropping. I get 61M for landscape and can go hunt birds with a lighter telephoto... Fantastic proposition... I would just have liked more info on the experience with the EVF. Is it usable or so bad you naturally go to screen...
I love my a7iv and just bought the a7cii for my EDC….small compact, lovely looking in silver and a little powerhouse without chewing the ass out of my computer. However I will be changing my a7iv for the a7rv in the future…..
Hi Jason, I have the Sony Zv-E1. I cant decide between the A7cii and the A7cr as my 2nd camera. I mainly shoot video but I want my 2nd camera to be able to shoot stills and still be great for video. Which one shall I go for? Btway love your videos man. ( A7cr has pixel binned 4k that is swaying me away from it)
Hi Jason and the community. Would appreciate any short answer. Which hybrid camera to buy: 7CII / 7IV/ or 7CR My basic needs and only focus are photos/VIDEOS (KEY FACTOR) for REAL ESTATE (can't afford Sony 7R V). Where is better VIDEO quality? Other factors "doesn't matter" at this point. Thank you for your time. (not my first research... but asking on a channel I follow a lot).
What are your thoughts between the A7IV and A7CII? I currently have an A7IV and need a second camera. I love the compactness of the A7CII for travel and everyday shooting, but I worry about the single card slot and possible overheating when compared to the A7IV. Please let me know your thoughts!
The pricing of the newer models is so strange - sure, they don't want to cannibalize their own lineup, but as a customer it's confusing to choose the right one.
@@ProjectileGrommeta lot of people prefer the smaller body. I have a7c and like the flat body with the left evf and it can fit better my 60rm2 sony flash. And on the gimbal it is perfect.
Hi, it was very informative video specially your point about 1 card which is important to know since your professional experience and other equipment. I agree a7Rv is a complete camera but not comparable as a7cR in weight and size! On the other hand still I’m not sure to sacrifice buffer speed, 1/8000 mechanical shutter, high resolution evf and lcd, dual card slots, amazing panel technology, etc. for better portability or not!

Hi Jason, This is Nick, from Sydney. I really enjoy your videos, and I have learned so many things from you. I jumped into photography two years ago as an amateur looking for some pro-quality work as a hobby rather than as a professional. I currently have the Sony ZV-E10 with four APS-C lenses (Sony E 11mm f/1.8, Sony E 70-350mm f/4.5-6.3 G, Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8, and Sigma 16mm f/1.4). I am thinking of upgrading to either the Sony A6700 or the Sony A7C II, so I would love to see a video comparing those two cameras. I am wondering if you could make such a video or at least give me your thoughts about it. Keep doing such a good job.👏
As a fellow ZV-E10 owner, something I've been considering, using the current APS-C lenses on the full frame camera will need to switch into asp-c 35 super mode in order to get out of the vignetting. I think I've been seeing it cuts the resolution down to around 24mp on the A7IV ... which is back into the ZV-E10 resolution. So for video etc it will all work (including the crop at 4k60). But the nice advantage of running both bodies is that full frame lenses are compatible in both directions too. Shooting 70-200 2.8 on the ZV-E10 is pretty wicked in video mode.
Am I correct in assuming that if weight for some situations is paramount, that the R model would perform similar to a 6700 using crop lenses. It appears the R model is really a A75R and 6700 for about the same weight as the 6700. If that is basically true I am planning to buy the R model rather than upgrading my current 6500 model to a 6700 model. Yes there is a price difference, but you are essentially buy two cameras in one. I already have full frame and cropped lenses and I tend to be more of a photo shooter than video, but I do both. Any thoughts ?????
I think I'm gonna sell my Sony a7RV for the A7Cii. I really don't need the 61MP sensor and the brilliant screen & EVF because I have a monitor anyway. Plus, the A7RV eats up battery so quickly because of the screen + EVF
The color science looks diffrent from the A7C II and A7CR specially the skin tone in the bathing suite model. The A7C II looks warmer and leans more towards the magenta in the skin tone.. Can you varify that?
I noticed the same thing. Makes sense since imo the a7IV and the A7RV seem to have different colorscience too. I was hoping they'd fix it for the A7CII but it ended up not being the case
