Hey Jason, I use C1, C2, & C3 for my custom set ups. I have my photo set ups on C1 & C2 and use C3 for 60fps video. This is a quick way of changing between photography & video. Great content as usual.
The custom modes have worked super well for me as a 1-switch solution to switch from photo to video. I've got my v-log 24fps, 60fps, and 6k open gate in the 3 custom modes, and when I switch back to one of the photo modes that I've put in standard it snaps back instantly. It keeps the standard photo stuff as the base and the custom modes as the exception, and instantly switches to v-log in the custom modes.
To switch quickly between photo and video mode I personally saved them to the custom dial slots for C1, C2, and C3. If you put the camera on video mode and put it at the base settings you want, you can then save it to a custom dial slot, and then i do the same for photo. That way if i want a dial to have a certain picture profile i save it to a custom slot, and note that c3 can have up to 10 custom settings files just for that one spot
Be sure to check your Custom settings and use the C1-5 on the dial. Make sure to overwrite the set to match the dial position. This is something that they introduced on the GH4 and it was so easy to switch quickly between photo modes and video modes.

Yeah, you can setup your custom modes/settings on C1, C2, C3 on the mode dial and then you just turn it and you have your desired settings for V-Log, Luts, Photo etc.
If it works a similar way as A7 I don't like it because it changes all the settings. Lets say you want one for slomo and the other for normal, you set a white balance at the scene every time you switch to a custom mode it will reset you WB among anything else you did at the shoot.
@@petercofrancesco9812 No it will stay as you have set that on the Lumix. If you e.g.: Set a C1 mode on the dial to S&Q 120 fps FHD 422 with WB 4400K, ISO 400 it will not affect any of your other settings. When you are in simple Manual mode it will remain the same as you left previously, then you turn the dial to C1 and you have your settings that you have setup only for C1. You go to Menu - Photo Style - change all settings you wish - set to custom mode - choose C1-C2-C3 - done. Then you need to change all settings back to the original, but after that it won't affect anything anymore.
I don't remember how, but you can separate the photo and video mode so that it remembers what settings you used in that particular mode. When I flick it into video it automatically chooses vlog with a 180 shutter angle (if that was my last used settings, usually is). Very handy. I use the same custom button layout in photo and video, so I don't know if you can have separate layouts for the two modes though. Maybe you can.

In any of these cases, I just turn the dial, and I am in the mode with the settings I want for the thing I am trying to do... I personally just use "M" for photos, and "Video" for video, each of them has the settings set up the way I like them, and in video mode, I just swap through different frame rates and aspect ratios as needed using the quick menu

Similarly you could record Cinema 4K to one card and a 1080p proxy to the second SD card…there are some constraints to this so check the manual. Other feature not mentioned in the video but making this an exceptional “one (hybrid) camera to rule them all” is the high res still images of 90+ mp which is wicked for product and landscape photography. 😊
@@alex-bohorquez-jimenez with the .MOV container you can do 24/30/60p All-I 800Mbit 4K or C4k to the SSD and proxy internally, or 24/30/60p All-I 600Mbit 4K or C4k internally to one card and proxy to the other. I encountered Moire couple of times in photos and in a very few video clips in last one year of usage. Initially I got worried but it didn't turn out bothersome. Its very very rare. Later I learnt that the issue is there with every camera with high resolution sensor. Thats the reason Sony is still using the 12MP sensor in most of their video cameras. Even few photos I clicked on my one decade old Nikon DSLR with 16MP Sony sensor also produced few rare images with moire where dense patterns were present. Only and only downside in S5IIX is no full frame slow-motion and poor rolling shutter during very fast panning, which again is the side effect of high resolution sensor.

Other feature not mentioned in the video but making this an exceptional “one (hybrid) camera to rule them all” is the high res still images of 90+ mp which is wicked for product and landscape photography. 😊
@MoffatCreative that could save the day.
Is one of those constraints the 50/60p recording or you can get proxies with that frame rate?
@@alex-bohorquez-jimenez with the .MOV container you can do 24/30/60p All-I 800Mbit 4K or C4k to the SSD and proxy internally, or 24/30/60p All-I 600Mbit 4K or C4k internally to one card and proxy to the other. So the limitations appear to be with proxies only 16:9 or 17:9 ratios are allowed on MOV, and only 30/60/24fps. (Not 48) some S&Q seem to be allowed as well.
In Pro Res looks like only 30/60/24 fps is allowed and only at 17:9 ratio and still have proxies internally.
@MoffatCreative great info. So no really a back up, since there's no way to get any slow mo.
What about recording to both ssd and an external recorder through the hdmi, ninja type, could that solve the problem?
Is the Moire issue significant in your opinion or are you just careful what/how you shoot? I’ve been tempted by this for a while but feel the S1H mk2 is only just around the corner. Great video as always
Moire only affects videographers. Actual client don’t even know what moire is or notice it. It would be nice to have an AA filter though
@@JasonMorrisphotocinemacouldn’t have said it better myself, moire is only affected on videos and yes the client won’t even know what to look for when you mention “sorry there’s a bit of moire” 😅
Bro I had the moire completely ruin a corporate shoot. Like completely. None of the footage was usable. Business suits(MASSIVE MOIRE) and talking head were completely shot. I obviously have a bad taste in my mouth about it. I’m not saying never again but I will wait for the s1hii before trying lumix again
Hey Jason, thanks so much for this video! I need help please haha. I shoot more run and gun content within a focus on sports like boxing and calisthenics. How's the rolling shutter in this camera in comparison to the Sony A7IV? I'm stuck between the purchasing either of these two🙏🏾
What great content 👍How does this compare with fx3 if budget not the issue is fx3 a superior camera for video and esp in terms of codecs
The HDMI latency to external recorder would bug the hell out of me.
How good is the low light performance of the S5llX? I would like to buy one to film my outdoor trips in the woods and the mountains in very difficult low light conditions. Can i crunk up the iso to 12800 or higher to get good or acceptable footage by night or late evening? Thanks for your amazing vids! 🤠🙏 Keep the good work! 👍🔥
yes you will be fine at 12800
@@ShellyBHollisAgreed. Just got mine and very happy with it. I was back and forth between the S5iix and fx3 but because I’ve been doing a lot of social media videos for clients as of late the S5iix had the features I needed and felt better value for money. And eventually I plan on getting the Pyxis so my glass will be good for both systems
@@ShellyBHollis thanks 🙏
@@najere8737 thank you 🙏👍
Among the best there is. It's fantastic and with the right lenses you won't have any complaints.
turn the top mode dial to photo click in personal settings.....turn dial to video dial in your setting ...Manual photo use and setup auto setting in either A S P that closely relates to usual M usage dial the M settings you usually use in the image settings. that nearly match your preferred M ..then fluff around with aperture and shutter speed while in M.. There isn't a full preset M ..it is what you last set when in M.. maybe thats why Fuji is popular.. its a ready and easy to use stills camera
I own an original S5, but going for the Nikon Z6 III next.
If you are mainly doing video, it's sadly a downgrade 😢
@@ludovicavice3496 I only record videos. I don't take photos. Panasonic has no lenses in their lineup. I wouldn't be caught dead with Sigma
Jason what’s the aspect ration for this video?
I think it’s 18:9
@ thank you
Are you able to get 4k 120 with the video assist?
Great video and glad to see you enjoy the Lumix and also constructively point out the issues.
They've been pretty responsive to feedback. Just makes me wonder when they'll have an announcement.
Either way, Lumix have given us features at such a price point that empowers our creative choices and i think that gratitude is key.
save the setting into Custom setting C1 C2 C3 can save all differernt setting and mode, and quick switch in real time.
No G Master lenses…🤷♂️
thanks God!
I don't know, you speak so much about value meaning that it is a nice camera for beginners or people who don't earn money with video and then you keep telling how good it is with anamorphic lenses and somebody goes to look up a set of anamorphs and it's 10K or just a little bit less. I kinda think that anamorphic lenses is still a rather niche thing and most people just don't use them (especially how very few autofocus anamorphs out there, and AF is usually crucial for "one man band" creators)
Boot up lag , software lag !!!!?
HDMI needs to be fixed...
Where to get that t shirt?!!!!
Yes is fucking worth it!!! But your click bait ain’t!!!
Huh?
if you want the best work arund to not has Lag monitoring use a iphone lol idk why but it's crazy good with that
ruclips.net/video/J6YUDq1vW7E/видео.html. ....set your foto mode on C1 and video C2 and so on...some settings will get carried over from each other, there is some menu option to choose which one is for foto and which for video
This open gate mania is all over the comments and videos now. Not just this video but all full frame Lumix videos. All of a sudden everyone is an "anamorphic fan". Since there is no auto ND in this "I do everything" camera what good is it for to have shutter angle? Just pathetic.
Mainly because anamorphic is now affordable
This sounds like a jealous comment
@@daniellrodriguezs Well, maybe instead of appealing to emotion, you can enlighten us how to change your ND filters fast enough with your constant 180 degree shutter angle to keep your exposure levels constant huh? As far as I know only person can do that on earth is the quicksilver from X-men. 🤣
@@sertocdyou thought you cooked huh? Bro has never heard of a variable nd filter. You have no idea what you’re talking about, and your obsession with trashing on shutter angle highlights that.
@@sertocdshutter angle has nothing to do with ND filters
