Hello Anthony, You forgot to mention that this camera doesn’t overheat and also has no video recording limit. You could also mention the Leica color science in this camera. There are very affordable prime lenses for both photo and video. Additionally, this camera inspires me to go out and shoot, testing both photography and videography. I can just hold it in my hands without reason as well-it just looks very cool. There is a tracking mode (eye, face, body) for photography now with the new firmware update. I can add many more things, actually, but I am still testing this camera myself now. Cheers.

Hey Anthony!! Love your content, I wanted to give you a tip for multiple LUT profiles on LUMIX cameras. You can create up to 10 custom profiles on the camera, go to any custom slot, select LUT as base for the profile and then select the Cube file you want to use for that profile and you’re all set!! Hope it helps!
I have had the s5ii for a year now, taken it to 5 different countries, and used it capture the first moments of my daughter meeting her baby sister for the first time. It is a swiss army knife like you said, which is why i bought it as a creator living overseas where I dont want to carry a huge amount of gear and glass and just want something that is durable and has me covered. it's really the best camera for the money on the market in terms of dollars in for value out.
@@lewcehjitl3282 s5iix gets a few more codecs and sad recording. Plus, it's blacked out. If you're doing mostly video, the x is worth the upgrade. I'm more of a 70/30 photo video guy so I just went with the base model.
Per wasting of space by the LVF button - you can reprogram that button to do a large number of things, on an equal basis with all the other customizeable buttons.
Having used this camera for 18 months I can firmly say it’s not all hype. Superb camera, it may have a crop at 50/60p and it doesn’t have 100fps but if your work flow does not require these then you will not get a better video first camera for the cost. The latest firmware brings the AF very much inline with Canon and Sony (having used an a7siii for 6 months now I genuinely don’t think the AF system is really all that it is hyped to be) The IBIS on the lumix is insane. The colours are gorgeous. The real time LUTs are great, it won’t overheat and it’s just a solid work horse of a camera.
Also! To Clarify 14:34 you can change your lut "sort of" in the playback menu you can got to RAW Processing and change your lut as long are shooting in RAW/FINE this will allow you to input a different lut and it will create a new JPG of the same image
I have the camera, mainly for photography the camera is good but the "constant preview" feature cause problems of focusing, the camera works awful and buggy, I have to work whit this mirrorless like an DSLR
Actually, you can have 4 real time luts at a time, you just need to save them as "my looks" which have indeed 4 slots (and potentially more, I see a strange software limitation where you can't select more, but there are greyed out voices in the menu). Great video, thanks.
@@AnthonyGugliotta Lumix has been doing this, as far as I know, since 2017 with the GH5. If Canon and Sony didn't made it yet, I'm not sure if it's gonna be something in the future. But people are asking for it, as it is quite a big pro feature for Lumix shooters. Still, the more competition other brands do, the better your platform will become in the future too. This makes a great time to be a "hybrid shooter" nowadays with all the options. You cannot go wrong with any of the options.
Hello! Automatic dimming display Focus button (S/C/M mode) The left disc is similar. LVF button I really like this, it is also included in the older model. Push - automode, push - screen off, push - view finder off :D (if the view finder is active, the display can be used as a quick focus point by touching it) - I just mentioned a Lumix G80 camera. If I were to switch to one like this (S5II), at least I wouldn't have to get used to them.
Good video, I think you forgot about the IBIS probably one of the best in the industry. Also in the photo side the Live View Composite is a great tool.
Two things that are interesting are the 30fps RAW in electronic shutter, and how you can switch which eye to focus on in real time. Use of both are a learning curve but worth talking about, if for no other reason to push Lumix to make them better. Nobody brings these things up. Lastly, it brilliantly adapts EF lenses
the EF lenses on L Mount was for me the reason to switch... the S1R is so far the best photography camera i have used since the 5D4 and i have absolutely no incentive to buy new lenses
@@aronaldharper543 probably would wait a bit... Panasonic about to announce new cameras and if there's a S1R II the prices of the older one will probably drop
Hi Anthony, great, great video. You catched the idea of Lumix really good. Just two additions: LVF-button is really seldom used, but you can customize this button with every other function. For example power on the WLAN. And with LUTs: You can save different LUTs in "My photo style" (10 slots available) to work with them like with every other preset. And yes... please do a comparison of the S5II(x) and all cameras in your arsenal. And some other things I really enjoy using the S5II: Colors are the best in town 🙂, the gimbal-killing IBIS and the possibilty to have a almost 4x crop when filming FHD and switch to pixel/pixel and you hardly see any difference to the uncroped picture.
I believe the feature of using more then one preset is actually available in the S5ii. You can use the real time lut funktion in your "custome picture profiles" and then just switch picture profiles like your preset is a native picture profile. Great video! Id love to see some one to one comparisons!
The S5ii and S5iiX are desgined to also use anamorphic lenses and the IBIS system is the best in business. I and many other users find the fliming/video side of these Lumix models have a load of very good high end video features and no recording limit and an inbuilt cooling fan. Since the new firmware 3.0 they have added a few more features and imporved the Autofocus. The one thing Panasonic could improve on, is to add a low pass filter. The native high end lenses are a bit overly big, although there are other very good smaller prime lenses from panasonic and they also have 3rd party lenese and the Lecia range. For photography, the S5ii is very good (and again Lecia have helped with the colour science) and compairable with other cameras of the same price, but it's clear Panasonic spend more time tweaking and improving the video side of their cameras.
A few reviewers disclosed that they were paid / sponsored to feature the camera. To be clear, I don't think there's anything wrong with being paid to feature a product; it's just anytime payment is involved you're less likely to be critical!
are u kidding ....sony did canon does it and now lumix ...wake up, they are companies ... we have some here but be real ... they all pay some more some less and good thing is that most tubers say it at least .... like this canon boy here hahaah
@@AnthonyGugliotta I have watched a couple dozen reviewers of the S5 II/IIX and GH7 and not one of them mentioned that they were paid. All of them said they were given loaner cameras and lenses to review, but had to give them back. Panasonic had no say in their reviews. They've been careful since the inception of Lumix to play straight with customers and reviewers. They are among the best listeners to feedback of any company in the business. It did take them about 15 years to kill off CDAF with DFD autofocus and use hybrid phase detect, but they finally got religion!
Wait until the S1H2 is released, the S5ii and iix are prosumer and are still pretty incredible non-the-less, especially when you look around at this price point. Thanks for another well presented review, some good points made, i’m pretty certain that you’re aware that you’ve barely scratched the surface with this camera right? It would need a series of videos to cover all the good points and Fw updates!! 😅
I've had mine for a little over a year. Great camera. I use it for run n gun travel videos. Stabilization is perfect. I shoot everything exclusively handheld, I don't carry any stabilizers or a tripod with me. I combined my S5IIx into a rig with Blackmagic VideoAssist and SmallRig V-mount batteries. A real small cinema camera. BRAW is wonderful to work with in DaVinci.
Lumix cameras have superb in-body jpeg color. I stopped shooting raw after using lumix camera. As for video, V-log has solid 13 stops dynamic range compared to Clog 3 which has 12 stops in reality and crashes shadows.
I’m not really big on Panasonic but the S5IIX does look like a great hybrid camera. Some Nikon and Fujifilm models also feature the LVF like button and I honestly prefer it that way. There were times that I needed to check critical focus before a shot and if I had to fold the screen in and out every time it could be a little cumbersome and annoying. Also I’ve never been a fan of the new telescoping design of Canons more expensive zoom lenses. I prefer internal zoom after being out on a nature walk with my lens extended and a branch slapped the camera out of my hand, landing on the lens and completely ruining an expensive lenses zoom function. I have dropped internal zoom lenses and the most I’ve ever had happen was a dent or damage to the filter thread. So if I had to pack a slightly larger bag for a more reliable and resilient lens, I’d happily do so. Nice video
Great video and explanation! Though I have to agree with a lot of other comments about features you missed in your video. Coming from a Sony A7iii, BMPCC 6K and Canon R6 user. The S5iiX with its shutter angle, no overheating, open gate, IBIS and colour science. It's a hard camera to beat for its price point At the
Panasonic please add the S1H tilt/flip screen to future cameras, similar to the Sony A7RV. I'm not a big fan of "flippy" screens but I can see why some people like it so you get the best of both.
Great video Anthony! Till this moment in my mind Panasonic cameras where strictly video oriented piece of gear. Now however I see they are quite capable photo cameras as well. Still I would like to see more in depth analysis of Panasonic, Canon and Sony cameras in terms of their photo capabilities. Also I absolutely love your sense of humour Friend keep up the good work! Cheers!
I'm a Lumix shooter, I was trained on the GH4 and now use the G85 for everything. I personally find that the color science and entire way the cameras are designed fit me better. I've used Sony, Canon, and very briefly, Black Magic. The S5iiX has been a camera I've had my eye on for a while, and I've heard so much about it at this point. This is the first time I've heard about the night vision feature! Super stoked for that as someone who shoots in low light a lot. I'm curious, one of the only features I haven’t seen anybody talk about is the S&Q mode for this camera. Obviously its easy to shoot in 60P, but, with an embedded mode in the camera, I'm really curious to see what that looks like!
Aside from the previous comments with valid points ( no mention of arguably the best stabilisation, internal cooling fan) how about mentioning your RF 70-200 2.8 is a $2500 lens while a Panasonic is $1800 and a SIgma L is $1500. Not to forget there are no 3rd party native lenses for RF.
Canon RF 70-200 f2.8 is also a far higher quality lens than the ones you mentioned. It has super fast USM motors for fast AF. Remember that Canon cameras are used for serious photography, it's not a camera for making youtube videos. Sigma lenses are mostly used as a cheap alternative to the superior and expensive G master lenses for Sony cameras.
The S5 cameras seem to perform very well in dark lighting conditions, such as night photography or indoors. The files look so clean and even the noise seems nice.
If price isn't an issue and lowlight performance is important I'd say go with the fx3 I own it probably will upgrade my fx30 to a second fx3 too. I do think if price is an issue then the lumix would be the better choice. You can get 2 for the price of 1 fx3 almost
you can shoot down to about 6400 ISO before noise becomes visible, with proper care of the files you can shoot at 12800 till they start breaking apart.... plus you get wave forms and vector scopes which Sony only gives you on their Venice line except with an external recorder
@@visionary_vega still prefer s5II over fx3. IBIS is such an underated feature I dont know how people can sleep on this. We complain and praise sony af over panasonic for years. Now they are close if not equal on this point, IBIS is just and ahas always been an another level compared to sony. Low light performance is enough, I mean just have prime lens and good lighting will always be better than digitally boost ISO .
I love my s5II but the bottom line why they are able to offer so much for so little comes down to the lack of slow motion. The camera is best when shooting 30fps or below. when you go to 60fps 4K automatically crops to APSC and while it will not auto crop at 1080p 60-fps full frame you do lose the PDF Auto Focus unless you go to APSC. The 3.0 adds improved AF and IBIS(With Crop) as well as proxies and Frame IO uploads but it does not fix the limitations over 30fps. Bottom line for people that shoot 24 or 30fps this is gonna be like a Sony FX3 but if you are shooting over 30fps it is more like a Sony FX30. PS: if you can get past the 1.45 crop the new IBIS is like a gimbal. It is magical I use a Sigma 14-24 and in full frame with the IBIS on High it crops to a an equivalent of a 20 - 35 full frame lens
The only time I’ve tried a lumix is like years ago when I took some video with the original GH5. All I know is that the IBiS was off the charts and incredibly steady. From what I’ve seen this cameras ibis allows people to do videos without any stabilizing gear because it’s the best IBIS in any small photographic camera.
Great review! My take on the lumix s5iix is that it’s not really geared towards the beginner filmmaker/photographer. The s5ii has the non blacked out dials and logo, and has 95% of the features that the s5iix has, so that one would be the ideal for beginners. This camera is basically for lumix shooters looking to upgrade to a newer body that has the bells and whistles while giving you a really cool look, or a seasoned professional that is ok sacrificing a little functionality for a cool looking high end camera. But that’s just my take 😁
Nice review. About the luts, you have three custom modes where you can program (and all the buttons are also programmable), for instance, different luts, recording preferred formats or whatever you want.
you did not got the whole point why lumix s5ii chosen by many. this reviews of yours compare only the minor things not the major great things about this camera that most shooters want.
I bought a second hand Panasonic S1R with a 1221 shutter count, for £1469. Which to me was insane value. I bought it to use with my manual lenses, as I was tired of my Zeiss lenses hiding in my camera bag all the time, and using the EVF and LCD makes focusing so much easier (which it is). So far I have been really impressed with the camera. The button placement feels perfect for me as a Nikon/Fujifilm shooter. If I was going to criticise Panasonic, I would agree that the Panasonic zoom lenses are heavy. I decided to buy a 70-200mm for studio use, and the Panasonic 70-200mm f/2.8 is a non starter. The Sigma 70-200mm f/2.8 is lighter, but for me was a non starter, as I swore never to buy another Sigma lens 16 years ago, after issues with 2 of their lenses). So I decided to buy the Panasonic 70-200 f/4, which weighs 985g, over 575g less than the Panasonic f/2.8 and 360g less than the Sigma. This has exposed me to Panasonics contrast detect AF system, which is interesting (the S5IIX has Phase detect). So, when testing in the shop, the contrast detect worked extremely well, but when I got home I found it to be a little more quirky. Certainly, when focusing it much prefers a contrasty subject. When focusing on my black camera bag, it did struggle, though finally got there when I focused on the zip. I haven't had a chance to try the human or animal detect AF, and I haven't found a eye detect autofocus, which has my head scratching a little. Panasonic has not released a firmware update since 2021, for the camera, which has surprised and disappointed me a little. With companies like Nikon and Fujifilm often releasing new firmware a few years later for many of their cameras. The S1R, is not perfect but I am really enjoying the camera, and I would imagine Panasonic will soon be releasing the S2 and S2r at some point with the S2r having the 60mp sensor from the Leica, and probably a combination phase/contrast detect AF.
I have an S5IIX and I say it is the best camera I have used in 25 years as a photographer and videographer. It's not perfect, there are points that could use small improvements, but it's a great camera for photos and videos.
If you enter the "PHOTO STYLE" menu, you can see you can save up to 10 custom presets. This can be made using whatever default profiles it comes with the camera, including "REAL TIME LUT". This was in the camera since the release. You wanted an update with at least 5 custom profile pictures, and Lumix thought about it already, and delivered 10 customizable profiles.
I went back to check just now and figured it out! The camera allows you to configure the "Real Time LUT" Option and save it to 1 of the 10 "My Photo Style Slots" But in order to do that I also had to enable all 10 of the slots under Gear Menu > Image Quality > Photo Style Settings > Show / Hide Photo Styles ☺
The original reason the viewfinder sensor was switchable and NOT auto-switchable on OLED foldout was that you could use BOTH the EVF and the touch screen. Eye to the EVF, you could drag the screen to move the focus point, for manual, vari-speed focus pulls. Not sure they still do that, but...
I'm an ex-Canon, ex-Nikon user. Lumix' original appeals to me in 2014 were the hybrid features of the GH4. It was so far out front with video then, that I just bought one. I was skeptical of Micro 4/3. That proved to be a non-issue for what I do. I'm about to buy a GH7, the new Lumix hybrid Micro 4/3 flagship. It's even more full-featured than the S5 IIX, so watch for an equivalent model to replace the S1H in full frame at some point. No doubt it will solve a few complaints about the S5 II and IIX, and carry on the lineage of the S1H.
@@georgefromgreece4119 After adapting to Micro 4/3 for nine years, I have zero interest in switching platforms to use full frame. At 69, I'm much more interested in traveling light than maximizing low light performance or minimizing depth of field.
The lvf or lfv button is also on nikons. Its very usefull if you never use the viewfinder or just want to only use the viewfinder without people looking at your photos
Had the passion of photography since years and finally on january i ended up spending my savings to buy a lumix g90 (not the same price and specs of a s5iix lol) and i am very satisfied with my choice. As you said in the conclusion, overall lumix is not only a camera for photos, but its a hybrid system that does behave really well in optimal conditions, and also, it has some features that in a camera from another brand would make the price go up in the sky. ps. Anthony, if you're reading this comment, i'd like to see you try some "cheaper" or entry level cameras, just a hint Peace and love ✌
On the 'packable' note: The Sigma 28-70mm 2.8 on this camera has an incredible value proposition - I have it on the regular s5ii and the size of that Sigma lens is shockingly small with incredible image quality. I also use the R6 and C70's, so I'm familiar with the RF lenses, they're almost too good, but at the cost of being the tanks that they are (outside the 70-200, somehow that's shockingly reasonable in size). I haven't tried all the Lumix primes, but the 85mm has been good and again, the size and weight is really impressive. Lastly, the Sigma 45 2.8 might be one of the best walk around, small kits you can have on the S5 and it lacks little in IQ, with beautiful "Micro-contrast" mixed with that Leica color science [chef's kiss].
I’m primarily a Video Shooter and I have both the Lumix R5llx and the canon R6ll. In terms of video shooting, the Lumix absolutely destroys the canon. The amount of different codecs that are available is staggering. While I would give the nod slightly to Canon in terms of auto focus, the Lumix isn’t far behind. One thing for me that has been a game changer is the image stabilization. It is simply the best. If I were shooting primarily skills with the occasional video, I’d likely stay with the canon, but for me, the Lumix is a huge win.
It would be good to see a comparison between canon r6 II and the lumix camera. And comparing white balance between both cameras would be great. I noticed this camera doesn't have as good auto white balance as my Olympus camera, specially night photography/ artificial light. This makes me spend more time editing my photos to fix the white balance

The camera is great, my gripe is when i shoot sports with it, it misses forcus many times when using burst. Also when i shoot sports the focus will switch focus points and not stay or lock onto the target i want to shoot. While the box is bouncing around I must half press the shutter quickly to lock the focus. I work around it and still get good shots.
Panasonic have recently released a new 28mm to 200mm lens which is much smaller than both the Lumix and Canon 70 - 200mm . Of course it is slower but it is very light and small and great for most general work. You can set the EVF to a low sensitivity or just switch off the sensor and set the camera to leave both the monitor and the EVF on all the time you are shooting. I also think that the AIS system is very good on the Lumix, and is the best there is for video and even hand held slow shutter speeds. The focus system is like the Canon a hybrid phase system and works really well. The High Resolution mode will produce a 96mega pixel RAW image. I think the Canon R5 only produces a jpg image (is that correct)? I have not had a problem getting used to the layout of the buttons at the back (most of which can be defined by the user ) . The preset modes can be selected directly from the dial which I have found very convenient especially when switching from different styles of photos and videos on the fly . Lastly the Canon R5 v2 will set you back more than twice as much as the Lumix. You can have two S5v2 cameras for less than the price on one Sony R5v2. Of course if you are already heavily invested in Sony , Canon or Nikon lenses then making the switch to Lumix is not as cheap as you will have to buy a whole range of new lenses. But , I do wonder if there is a bit of bias towards the well known camera brands which is perhaps not very objective!
Hey. Did you compare RAW's from s5m2 and r6m2? As i now, canon has better highlights and lumix shadows. Is there a lot difference what you can make with RAW's in lightroom from this 2 cameras?
For the love of God can one person review the evf? No youtuber is capable of reviewing or describing the single most important user-friendly aspect of any camera - the viewfinder. People shoot putting their eye in the evf, they don't just look at the screen. No youtube will review this feature that varies greatly from camera to camera and REALLY MATTERS.
@@AA-tb7rg how about I pay 💰 you $1000 to just review the evf. I’ve watched hours of reviews HOURS and I still have to drive all the way to nyc go into B&H just to verify a stupid thing anyone could describe in 20 seconds, yet is one of the most unique things about the camera.

Buy Sony if you need hybrid buy Canon if you want just photos. I bought a R6ii and I’m trying to sell it now bc Sony is superior for video. If you want to buy mine it’s in great condition😂
There's literally no reason to buy canon. Sony has sticky AF and 3rd party lens support, while Lumix offers much better bang for buck, the lenses in the L Mount, and the color science you miss in the Sonys
@@nickguzman1734 ya I agree, The third party lens support of Sony and Lumix is enough to make me switch. I do like the images I get from my Canon but like you said there is just better bang for buck elsewhere.
@@nickguzman1734 I'm on the EF ecosystem, and I'm a photographer first, so while I know Sony is the king of video, I dont have to buy a single lens if I buy a newer body and adapt my older L glass, I know the A7iii and the R6ii both have the same dynamic range and the A7 has 6 more megapixels, I'm losing nothing but graving a mid level Canon, for resale price, if I ever wanted to let go of the R6ii I can buy an A74 or an A73 used, and adapt the glass to Sony, but I'm not a videographer (yet) and when I learn more about it, I'll probably have both a Sony and a Canon, would it have been better if I said I want a Nikon?
THE FATAL FLAW that killed it for me was that the camera "forgets" the focus point in MF mode when switched off and on ( when using non focus clutch lenses ) !
One thing that kinda drags this camera down in comparison to others is that's it is slow, like much slower to boot, has delay when press record or loading pictures..
I think many people don't realize that the camera is less important than storytelling which makes the difference. All cameras released in the last 3-4 years are good. Let's stop chasing new cameras and put more work in actually making something that people love. To be honest I've seen channels with millions of subscribers where you can clearly see their video skills are bad but they can present good stories. If you can make the money you used to purchase the camera back in 2-3 months from actually using it then yes go ahead and change cameras every year
I have the camera and I hate the histogram and live viewfinder don't change once you pass the +/- 3 stops of under or overexposure. If you accidentally move the exposure you don't notice.
I guess waiting for the next generation is better. there is still a lot of room to improve. I am a photo shooter, so I don't really need those video features, unfortunately, Lumix is more of a video camera. still a long wait to catch up with Fuji on film simulation, even Sony is catching up on film simulation settings now, but also pretty much in its early stages.
Honestly, it's pretty good. I enjoyed Lumix AF a bit better than Fuji, and I think you have lots of options when it comes to using the real time LUTs as a pseudo film simulation.
Although this review is super critical on the build and design. I think we could agree that the functions and performance would out weigh a subpar design

I’m a cinema camera shooter. For the last 10 years I’ve been shooting on a RED. I always thought about buying a mirrorless to take stills and BTS videos of sets. I like the Sony auto focus… but they didn’t have shutter angle. However there is only one thing that people who actually shoot all day ( 8 hours ) care about … that’s a fan. If a camera overheats … it’s not a professional camera - I got a lumix S5iiX because it has a fan built into the camera. I don’t care if a camera shoots 8K has autofocus and every single cool feature. If there is a chance it’s going to turn off because it’s designed too actually overheat. It’s a piece of sh..
I have been shooting 8 hours a day for the past week on the S5II and haven't even considered that it might have overheated because it never does!
What about the moire problem??
@@vimarecmedia6429 yeah it’s lack of OLPF is its big downfall. I hate moire and IR pollution so much. But not as much as not being able to film - because the camera is too hot from being used as a …. camera for more than 30 mins.
^ curious about that too
Proud user of Lumix cameras since 2008. Never looked back.
Nice m8 I forgot they were around in. 2008
What’s the difference S5ii and s5iix?
@@lewcehjitl3282 s5iix gets a few more codecs and sad recording. Plus, it's blacked out. If you're doing mostly video, the x is worth the upgrade. I'm more of a 70/30 photo video guy so I just went with the base model.

I'm afraid of long term reliability of the integrated fan. Sooner or later all fans fail. I hope it will be easily replaceable
@@amermeleitor shooting to ssd means the camera stays cooler, which in theory means the fan works less and lasts longer, as should the camera.
The latest firmware brings the AF very much inline with Canon and Sony (having used an a7siii for 6 months now I genuinely don’t think the AF system is really all that it is hyped to be)
The IBIS on the lumix is insane.
Mention the IBIS. It's world leading.
I was a Canon shooter. Now so happy with Lumix S5II X... Simply loving it~!🥰
I have the camera, mainly for photography the camera is good but the "constant preview" feature cause problems of focusing, the camera works awful and buggy, I have to work whit this mirrorless like an DSLR
Actually, you can have 4 real time luts at a time, you just need to save them as "my looks" which have indeed 4 slots (and potentially more, I see a strange software limitation where you can't select more, but there are greyed out voices in the menu). Great video, thanks.
I swear I just found an option in the menu system that allows up to 10. So 10 luts and 10 my menu options. Just saw it last night and was like...
He did total injustice to Lumix S5IIx with this non-review
LUMIX user for years now and love it. S1R & S5iix are the go to cams
I’ve been wanting to try this system and camera out.
It's been pretty great for video. It will be interesting to see if Sony and Canon start to introduce open gate in their mirrorless line after this.
I wouldn't be mad if you joined me in the small but mighty Lumix community 😎
haha yes @jonesimo!

Hello!
Automatic dimming display
Focus button (S/C/M mode)
The left disc is similar.
LVF button I really like this, it is also included in the older model. Push - automode, push - screen off, push - view finder off :D (if the view finder is active, the display can be used as a quick focus point by touching it)
- I just mentioned a Lumix G80 camera.
I had the s1r. I sold as a way to save for the probable mark ii. That said, at it's current price I'm thinking of getting it again as a second camera.
@@aronaldharper543 probably would wait a bit... Panasonic about to announce new cameras and if there's a S1R II the prices of the older one will probably drop
Yes! The joystick allows you to swap left and right eyes! Very handy!
Shooting with electronic shutter will reduce the bit depth and thus the dynamic range.
Only stacked sensors avoid this issue.
Yeah, r6ii vs s5iix please. I’m gonna be buying one soon but want to see your comparison video before I choose which one 👊🏼😎
If you want shoot only fotos, can buy one R6II. Instead if you want shoot both great fotos and amazing video, buy one S5IIX. Is worth every cent!
Dnt get the R6 ii I’ve had it for a year and it’s cool but the low light performance just still isn’t there. S5iix is the Winner
Which RUclipsrs were “paid” to promote this camera? All the RUclipsrs I’m familiar with had the exact same situation as you.
A few reviewers disclosed that they were paid / sponsored to feature the camera. To be clear, I don't think there's anything wrong with being paid to feature a product; it's just anytime payment is involved you're less likely to be critical!
That was quite the statement. Not really a review that gives the camera enough credit imo. The x is more for video shooters.
are u kidding ....sony did canon does it and now lumix ...wake up, they are companies ... we have some here but be real ... they all pay some more some less and good thing is that most tubers say it at least .... like this canon boy here hahaah
Definitely worth a comparison in Video & Photo. 🔥
Only now has Lumix gotten my attention. Thanks man.
I think i would love to compare your photos from Canon comparing the new Lumix shots.
Might be an interesting test ☺️
It's a hard camera to beat for its price point
At the
Panasonic please add the S1H tilt/flip screen to future cameras, similar to the Sony A7RV.

Same! Which was why I've been mainly shooting photos. Will be diving a bit more into Panasonic hopefully!
please make a video about Video performance of Siix because you just showed the photos but not videos, thank you
Please compare lumix s5 mark 2 vs canon r6 mark 2
Not to forget there are no 3rd party native lenses for RF.
that is what I thought ......how much is that canon lens?
Canon RF 70-200 f2.8 is also a far higher quality lens than the ones you mentioned. It has super fast USM motors for fast AF. Remember that Canon cameras are used for serious photography, it's not a camera for making youtube videos.
Sigma lenses are mostly used as a cheap alternative to the superior and expensive G master lenses for Sony cameras.
The S5 cameras seem to perform very well in dark lighting conditions, such as night photography or indoors. The files look so clean and even the noise seems nice.
Would love to see compared to the fx3. I'm going to purchase one of these cameras. I would love to see the lowlight comparison 😊
It is magical
I use a Sigma 14-24 and in full frame with the IBIS on High it crops to a an equivalent of a 20 - 35 full frame lens
I have been very impressed with the IBIS
Great review! My take on the lumix s5iix is that it’s not really geared towards the beginner filmmaker/photographer. The s5ii has the non blacked out dials and logo, and has 95% of the features that the s5iix has, so that one would be the ideal for beginners. This camera is basically for lumix shooters looking to upgrade to a newer body that has the bells and whistles while giving you a really cool look, or a seasoned professional that is ok sacrificing a little functionality for a cool looking high end camera. But that’s just my take 😁
I would LOVE for you to compare this three WITH the Fuji X-H2S. I would LOVE to see these 4 compared. :)

I love it but I really need the S1 II X to replace my A7SIII and it’s frustrating they’re taking so long
Damn brother, what is the problem with a7siii? Is a Dream camera
@ the a7siii was the fx3’s cousin that got neglected. It’s good but could have been better. Sony won’t be continuing the line moving forward
And you do not even mention that point, so your comment is useless.
I like the way you advertised Artlist.
Hii I'm from India You missed some features like live cropping without trolley auto zoom and take micro photography with 24-105 lens
You may as well wait a few months for S1H II to be released, it's going to be a beast.
@@georgefromgreece4119 After adapting to Micro 4/3 for nine years, I have zero interest in switching platforms to use full frame. At 69, I'm much more interested in traveling light than maximizing low light performance or minimizing depth of field.

Had the passion of photography since years and finally on january i ended up spending my savings to buy a lumix g90 (not the same price and specs of a s5iix lol) and i am very satisfied with my choice. As you said in the conclusion, overall lumix is not only a camera for photos, but its a hybrid system that does behave really well in optimal conditions, and also, it has some features that in a camera from another brand would make the price go up in the sky.
ps. Anthony, if you're reading this comment, i'd like to see you try some "cheaper" or entry level cameras, just a hint

hi thanks for the video. What camera did you use to record this video?
The new 28-200 is the same size as the 50. It’s awesome !
Great video... leaning towards the s5iix over the fx30 for video purposes!
The active cooling is great
I’m primarily a Video Shooter and I have both the Lumix R5llx and the canon R6ll. If I were shooting primarily skills with the occasional video, I’d likely stay with the canon, but for me, the Lumix is a huge win.
when selecting a picture profile, in the "my photo style" you can have up to 10 different Luts.
Just figured that out! Thanks :)

i mean the biggest difference that you didn't talk about... the OIS... coming from Sony i thought i had good OIS... now i have a S5iix and it basically is it's own (not really) gimbal
I was looking to get another camera. The main choices was to wait for the A7s IV or Canon R8. I was advised to check out the Lumix S5ii. Did my research on it. For the price and the features, it won me over. Ended up getting the S5iiX.
Yes! Can you do some comparison w Sony cameras please!

Great video and right up my alley! I shoot with a Canon EOS R and a Lumix G9. I received my S5IIX yesterday May 6th so I would love an indepth video comparison. Glad I found your channel! PEACE from ATL ✊🏾 📸
Editing in windows inside premiere pro, it is faster than premiere pro in Mac. Depend on your set up.
How's battery life?

Can you shoot open gate with vlog?
Is r6 much better for tracking fast objects?

@@AA-tb7rg he also asked if he missed features in the review…he asked so I told him
Love your pictures interspersed here 😊
hi everyone, would you take this or the a7cii? and why? 😊😊
Please help me Sir! I have S5II for almost a year now, but I can only shoot JP, not shoot RAW because I don't know what software can edit Pana RAW photos. Please help me. Thank you.
I'm currently looking into the R6ii or the R8 so yes I would like to see any comparison lol
The one question that I want to ask you is do you think it’s worth buying?
great camera overall ! would like to pair it with Tamron 35-150
There’s a Samyang version coming
THE FATAL FLAW that killed it for me was that the camera "forgets" the focus point in MF mode when switched off and on ( when using non focus clutch lenses ) !
🤣 You're so dramatic ahahah
One thing that kinda drags this camera down in comparison to others is that's it is slow, like much slower to boot, has delay when press record or loading pictures..
I think many people don't realize that the camera is less important than storytelling which makes the difference. All cameras released in the last 3-4 years are good. Let's stop chasing new cameras and put more work in actually making something that people love. To be honest I've seen channels with millions of subscribers where you can clearly see their video skills are bad but they can present good stories. If you can make the money you used to purchase the camera back in 2-3 months from actually using it then yes go ahead and change cameras every year
WOW ! you make a good point.
I have the camera and I hate the histogram and live viewfinder don't change once you pass the +/- 3 stops of under or overexposure. If you accidentally move the exposure you don't notice.
Don’t you see the exposure too bright or dark on the screen? If not, make sure you turn constant preview on
I guess waiting for the next generation is better. there is still a lot of room to improve.
I would get it but, I shoot on komodo X $ Bmcc 6k FF. its difficult to think of not having raw!
Although this review is super critical on the build and design. I think we could agree that the functions and performance would out weigh a subpar design
