I love the odin form factor and shape. Better screen (maybe less bezels and better colour accuracy), more powerful chip (snapdragon 888 would be beautiful), better sticks (hall sensors and bigger sticks too), and of course rgb lights that I can program or add haptics too. any loud sounds or vibrations would make them flash or something would be cool. Big asks but I am allowed to imagine 😅

Agreed, a Snapdragon 888 would be an appropriate upgrade for a '2 Pro' version, perhaps satisfying even 3DS fans. Otherwise, I'd like to see a D1200 in a 'Oden 2 Lite' priced at $199.

@@clausjahnel5379 That's true. But did they pre-announce the Oden Lite? I was new to this space as the Oden Lite dropped but it seemed to be a bit of a surprise...? In any case, this crowd-funded business model seemingly requires a constant stream of devices.

Im excited for the odin 2 with a bit of worry because of AYNs history. I love the design of odin pro. I only use it to play PS1, PSP, PS2 and gamecube.

I also bought the Odin Pro during the Indiegogo campaign and was really excited, when i finally got it.
What i felt was a let down from the beginning was that the Lite-Model was receiving a newer version of android and the Pro-Model was and is still stuck on Android 10. My device shipped in April 2022 and the security patch level of Android 10 is on April 5, 2020. The fact that Ayn is and won't give developers the chance to lift the device to newer Android versions is also very sad.
Seeing the problems with Loki, i will give the Odin 2 definitly a pass.

Love my PSVita too :) - with RetroArch, PSP and Vita games.
My biggest issue with my Odin Pro is ... its latency.
I love its form factor, ergonomics, clicky D-pad, perfect screen size/ratio ... but due to its high latency I simply can't bring myself to use it at all :|
Then came the low-latency Linux dist for Odin called Valhalla and brought back my enthusiasm ... however it never got support from AYN and couldn't be completed ... so I lost hope.

Oh boy... They really should only announce it when there's a physical demo in their hands, I'm tired of their strategy..
I love my RP3+ the only thing I really miss is a back button! Or the ability to change that home button to a back button, swiping the screen on Dolphin, isn't something I want to do, which I can easily do on the Odin since we have those extra M1/M2 buttons on the back. I tried remapping the home button to back on my RP3+ using button remapper but it f*cks up my dolphin, ppsspp and redream controls. :(
I'd really like an RP3+ with those new analog triggers and a proper back button, that would make it perfect for me, it's sooo pocketable!
For now I'm happy with my Odin, I can play almost everything I like and upgrading at this time, or even a year I feel is too quick, for me. Just release an Odin 2, no other crazy variations... Keep it simple. It better not be another Loki after a year...

@@imyusha Yeah! It's something with the accessibilities or something, ugh, that pisses me off, it works wonders on my Odin, LOVE IT! I do not have to touch the screen at all with Button remapper, but on the RP3+ it messes up the controls, I'd give anything for a proper back button, or a way to switch that home button to a back button or long press or something like they already have in a way.

    I love my Odin Lite.
It has great battery life, when in sleep mode it almost never looses battery (i don't know, like 2 weeks later it still has 80 or 90 %), I like that it is ... very powerful. I can play many switch games, many gamecube, ps2, wii games comfortably - in my opinion Retroid Pocket 3+ is not there yet. And I don't like 4.7 inch screen. To me it's unfortunately too small. Maybe it's because I run switch games on Odin ;p
The only thing I don't like about my odin is that in my opinion analog sticks are too small. PSP racing games are almost unplayable to me. I checked original PSP and controls were much more precise. So, yea, would love to have analog sticks with bigger hmm move (not just caps).
But honestly, I don't know what they can improve. Whole market seems very saturated. 450-500 $ is totally occupied by Steam Deck. More expensive are occupised by AyaNeo.
200 $ is occupied by Retroid Pocket and Odin Lite itself.
I don't know. Probably Odin 2 should cost around 200-300 $. X86 cpu does not make sense as there is Loki Zero (well yeah, it's more than a year delayed :( ). Ryzen flag CPUs (7840 / 6800) are in more expensive devices.
The only solution seems to be some ARM CPU.
BUT at the end, well it'll be hugely delayed just like Loki Zero so to be fair , I don't wait on it. Loki Zero got outdated / old because of that. I ordered it in July 2022 and yeah nothing happened. Even if the specs will be ok, I guess I will skip it and wait for another company who will take the same CPUs and copy what's needed.
I really love my Odin Lite but huge Loki Zero delay got me thinking that it'll be a waste of money :(

I love my S23 Ultra 😂. Got a killer trade in deal on an old iPhone and picked up the 512GB model (free upgrade) for dirt cheap. I also stream my pc and xbox games to it. The screen is really nice. I just don't have the time to set up these retro handhelds. I still have my original oled Vita and raspberry pi set up with retropie. I have an x-arcade dual stick. I honestly don't see how I could play all these old games now that my gamers backlog has grown exponentially. Diablo 4 has become such a grind this season. Hope to be done before starfield drops on gamepass. I think if I was a teenager again I could figure it out somehow. 😉

Yes I know what you mean. I just pick one game play it till I completed it then move on. I have half hour before bed normal and retro games are pick up an play. Having a handheld just makes it easier for that 10 to 30 min gap where you are about to sleep. Waiting for that TV program or live stream. Sitting in a waiting room/for a flight. Plenty of game boy advanced games out their that are pick up and play.

    AYN Odin 2 - Snapdragon 870.
    Is Good?

    • @cristobalbarcenas6147
      @cristobalbarcenas6147 Год назад

It is much better than the 845 especially controlling temperatures. With active cooling and overclok you can squeeze a lot even be better than SD 888+ (which suffers from Thermal Throttling and lowers its performance to one less than SD865). The SD870 is a good chip. Many also say that it can be an SD 888 or SD 888+ because of how cheap they are, which if Odin 2 has a good cooling system to solve your problem, you can get much more out of it. I hope that I have an SD 7+ Gen 2 that, although it is medium gamma, has a higher power than SD888 and has the temperature stability of SD870/865. SD 7+ Gen 2 is a little less powerful than SD 8 Gen 1. If it comes with SD 7+Gen2 it would be crazy because of the benefit that can be obtained with overclocking.

I really don't see the reason to got for an Odin 2. PS2, GC and Wii just run good on the actual Odin and there's no PS3, Wi U or Xbox emulator scene on Android.
So what's the point to spend +350 USD to something more powerful?

    • @-roetaka
      @-roetaka  Год назад +4

Well hopefully it wouldn't more than 350+ lol that would be madness. Having a stronger chip would allow you to play the tougher to run PS2, GC and Wii games (MGS2 and Rogue Leader come to mind), and definitely run those games at higher resolutions. And that would also mean not having to rely on forks of emulators like MMJ. But yeah we just have to wait and see. Could be an OLED screen for all we know, that'd turn some heads.
