If you ever get a chance, would also love to see how Champions of Norrath and BG DA 2 hold up, but am just glad to see a reviewer actually be conclusive when making their judgements.
Two things I wanna address: first I didn't really talk about battery life and I think with Gamecube and PS2 you're looking at around 2-3 hours there, Yuzu seemed to drain alot faster, some people have complained about the battery draining too fast but it does charge back at a decent rate with the USB cable that is provided. I also said TMNT doesn't work on either NS emulator but I've seen recently it does work if you install the latest game update for it, had I known before I would've tested it.

Hi, thanks very much! - Killer Instinct 1 and 2 won't have any issue. If they did it would be the fault of the emulator if anything, and there are several alternatives when it comes to SNES, N64 and MAME Arcade core/emulators to work with. - It should support a 1GB sd, I have one in my Odin 2. - If you connect it to your monitor/tv it should be using the controls for the Retroid Pocket, adding a bluetooth controller should navigate as well and then you select that controller for the emulators you're configuring. - Emudeck is going to come to Android in the near future which basically sets up all your emulators for you, but I don't know when.

Although i have a phone with a snapdragon 888 and a Gamesir x2 controller for it, I still would rather play games with a dedicated handheld even if it's not as powerful.
Yeah they are included. In RetroArch if you open the menu and go to On-Screen Overlay you can turn it on and scroll down to overlay preset, it should take you to a folder called overlays/borders. When you're done customizing the border you want to use you can back out to the quick menu and go to Overrides and press Save Core Overrides, this will apply that border to the core you're using so you can have different Overlays for different systems.
The Odin 2 is definitely a device that won't be bested anytime soon having a flagship andriod processor. But the RP4pro is a great alternative. These retro handhelds are close peaking in terms on what they can do performance wise, now it's just a question of what particular features they can offer over the competition.
Same I got Odin 2 base however I will be buying Anbernic RG556 for the OLED screen and the processing power is same as Retroid Pocket 4. So it will run PS2 games fine however Odin 2 will continue to be my go to device to play PS2, GameCube, Wii, DreamCast!
One thing I've run into on Yuzu on the Odin 2 is that by repeatedly using the 'end emulation' command to bomb out of a game to select another, will eventually cause choppy sound in some titles. Something you're bound to run into on your testing for these videos. I recommend completely closing and restarting Yuzu between titles and you'll get a much smoother experience 👍.
If price isn't an issue then you're either looking at the Steam Deck or another Windows based handheld like the ROG Ally. I think the Windows ones are better for it, and for example I find a game I think should run on the Odin 2 that doesn't with Yuzu has no problem running on the Windows version of Yuzu. But they're obviously expensive and you're dealing with a bigger/heavier handheld with some varying battery life due to the wattage the game might need. I have an AYANEO GEEK 1S and it does feel like a Switch Pro to me as I can run games at higher resolutions and framerates with a 7 inch screen, it's just bulkier than a Switch. My honest recommendation going down that route is to keep an eye on a company like AYA or GPD or ONEXPLAYER for a handheld upgrade they'll inevitably do an indiegogo campaign for and make a pledge when their early bird prices are available, you save a lot of money compared to retail and is well worth the investment. But right now the best value for a Windows handheld probably is the ROG Ally. But if you're not looking to spend that much, besides the Deck the Odin 2 is great value and it has the power to do Switch emulation really well, the only thing holding it back is that Yuzu for Android just needs to cook more. It's updated almost daily and if it was perfect then you'd have an amazing Switch replacement with amazing battery life, it's just not there yet.
Great video. I'm not sure if you mentioned this, but if you prefer RP4 over the RP4 Pro, you don't get the video-out via USB C feature. So it's probably an easy decision for people that have docks.

Hey brother - for Twilight Princess, do you have the hyrule field hack on? If so, how do you activate that? Also do you have any videos on how to enable those psp hacks like the one for MGS? Like a video detailing it step by step? Thanks!
The hack is on yes, tbh with you I copied my MMJR settings from my 3+ so it was already working. However I'd recommend playing in the latest Dolphin, maybe not the playstore version but one for Android on their site, Zelda should work really well on it and it has the Hyrule Field Hack baked in so you only need to turn it on in the cheats. I do have a video on the PSP Cheats/60fps ruclips.net/video/vRhDNDxWjVk/видео.html though I think I suggested that you had to download cheat codes and place them in the PSP folder. If you have PPSSPP saving and loading its emulator stuff in a folder on the internal storage you can absolutely go ahead and put them in that folder's cheat folder, but if your PPSSPP is saving and loading in a folder that's in the android/data area of your storage then placing those files from your PC to the PSP folder in there is not going to work, you need to place those files somewhere on your internal storage and then manually move them over with the Files explorer app or a third party one like ZArchiver and cut/copy them into the PPSSPP folder in android/data. Sorry if that's confusing, it's an Android 13 thing and you just can't put things in the android/data section unless it's on the device with an app that has permission to access that area of the storage.
@@-roetaka thank you so much for the quick response man! I'm actually going to purchase about 5 of these in a few months (once some of the QC stuff is worked out on Retroids end) to make for friends, so this will be awesome knowledge to have. Thanks again!

To be honest Alex(RoeTaka) - I was disappointed in the lack of Odin 2 videos. Considering how brilliant it is, like for instance how to get Mobox or Winlator working well on the Odin 2.
There is definitely a lot to potentially look at with the Odin 2, but this is still a hobby as I have a main job and other commitments and thingsthat take my time. I was also ill over Christmas so that impacted potential videos. Bigger videos like this can take me several days to complete and the RP4 is the hot new toy so I won't really get channel growth if I don't expand.

I've been wanting to see a video on the retroid pocket four base model, but no one has that review. Everybody does the pro. Maybe you should look into it
@@EliasPfaiffer And the Odin 2 costs $100 more than the RP4 Pro. Have you ever heard of the concept of price to performance? A Ferrari beats a Skoda "in every single aspect!!" - but it costs a lot more. Here in the UK it's an even greater price gulf.
I thought the start of my video kinda made it clear that it's worth buying an Odin 2 if you can afford it. But if you're either a budget or want a smaller device, the 4 fills that gap.
I am on the fence too. I own the black rp3+ and love it, wishing it could play PS2 and Wii etc a bit better... but wondering if I'd enjoy the comfort and extra scren size of the Odin 2, sacrificing the smaller size and lower price) ...Anyone else with both please weigh in.
Wii U on Cemu looks to be having a problem with Mali GPU devices currently. You probably want to look into pre-ordering the Retroid Pocket 5 (though wait for a review if you're unsure) and honestly if you're ok with spending $300 on a device you cannot go wrong with the Odin 2 Base model. And if you want it to be smaller and can spare another $50 then the Odin 2 Mini is the same device just smaller with a better screen.
My rp4+ just doesn't open the game when i use the skyline 69. Keeps it in a black screen at 0 fps. Do u know how to fix this? U install the turnip? Amazing review!!
Be careful with those triggers i already have a broken right one from a very small bump.... The plastic holding the trigger mechanism in place is kind of soft too hopefully somebody makes some nice replacement back plates soon
On Android it's a long ways off unless a suprise developer announces they've been working on it in the dark. To increase compatibility they'd probably need to work with the RPCS3 devs or even have them develop it, but PS3 is very demanding and only the most powerful Android phones and devices could even get some of it working...so I think it's potentially years away. But PC handhelds? The Deck does some PS3, the 7840u Windows handhelds can do a lot of PS3 (albeit not great battery life), but that's the state now.
How did you get Die Hard working on YabaSanshiro? On that level, I get no sound or other bugs/glitching, so would be helpful to know any specific settings, thanks.
@@-roetaka Thanks, tried again with an NTSC version and there's less glitches (on the helicopter in the intro) but definitely no sound effects on that level, just music
question, how do u get the Frame or Boarder on the sides, Usually i just do 16by9 or fill screen, just using Daijisho front end... Another question was you using Performance+ toggled on because I don't hear the Fans in the Back Ground, Performance+ toggle works Wonders. especially on PS2 and Wii games.. Thanks
I honestly need to improve it but I told myself I wouldn't invest unless my channel grew a bit more. Currently using a Logitech Brio to record and a Blue Snowball with a pop shield and boom for the audio. I capture the footage with Streamlabs OBS and I edit it in Sony Vegas 14 which had this ridiculous deal years ago to buy it for £1 so I did lol. My biggest problem is lighting and light reflection, I don't currently have a work space that is ideal for recording all this and that's something I'll think about later this year.
I probably just had the brightness all the way up on the 3, you can see the white text is really blurry so if I was recording it I would've turned the brightness down.
I see brief, random freezes with the games, especially on higher end systems. I was expecting smooth perfection, so this doesn't seem like a perfect experience (although very playable).
With GC and Wii I tested MMJR and I think Dolphin is going to be better. NetherSX2 was pretty much solid for a lot of games and I'm gonna test more Yuzu as a few games I've gotten to run better since this video.
El 4 pro se ve muy apagado su pantalla sin color y sin brillo... la 3 plus por lo que se nota en este video su pantalla tiene mas color y mas linda que la 4 pro
Based on their site the RP4 should have a better screen as the only difference is the 3 has 450 nits and the 4 has 500 nits. But before the OTA the quality was not great, so that's all I can think of, if you haven't installed Retroid's update for the RP4 it's gonna look worse for sure.
@@-roetaka no no, i mean i'm pertaining to your devices in the video. For me, the screen of your RP3+ is kinda brighter and more clear than your RP4 pro. Maybe it has something to do with brightness level or maybe it's just my eyes i dunno hahaha

@@taylorlawrence3570 That's an awesome gesture and a lot of work, I hope they enjoy them when it happens! My IRL friends aren't interested in this kinda stuff even if I was to set one up for them, it sucks lol.
@@-roetakaI will be your irl friend! Fuck those other guys. Lol 😁
@@-roetaka - Thats no excuse, I was unable to go on with life without videos saying "This is Alex etc etc", I expect 20 new videos, in the next week.
Thank you.
But seriously, sorry to hear that.
Hope you and your family are well now.
Don't burn yourself out.
I don't want another Simply Austin situation occuring.
I miss that dude.
You are in the same category, and don't want to lose you as well.
Can you get Trials of Mana to run??
I've been wanting to see a video on the retroid pocket four base model, but no one has that review. Everybody does the pro. Maybe you should look into it
Retroid is not sending the base model out. They would have to purchase it in order to review it.
I might have missed if he said it or not, but do the settings save for each game?
what frontend is it on the pocket 3?
I would love to see it running game through Winlator
Does this unit have Gauntlet Dark Legacy on it??
An RP4 Pro vs Odin 2 comparison would make for a good video!
why?
the odin 2 beats the RP4 Pro in every single aspect!!
@@EliasPfaiffer And the Odin 2 costs $100 more than the RP4 Pro. Have you ever heard of the concept of price to performance?
A Ferrari beats a Skoda "in every single aspect!!" - but it costs a lot more.
Here in the UK it's an even greater price gulf.
what was the second dreamcast game you showed at the beginning section of the video?
It's called Zombie Revenge
If you could only own one device, would you get this or the Odin 2? Is the extra price for Odin 2 worth it or meh. Thanks! love the vids
I would go Odin 2....I can easily sacrifice my rg405m and my other devices for it....
Does the non pro version also have the hdmi output capability?
I'm looking for an budget handheld that can run 3ds games up until wii u games perfectly.
Can you play legend of Spyro a new beginning
Do you have to buy the games or all of the games included ?
Games are not included. You have to find them yourself by doing a few seconds of Googling.
They are ROMs that you must download and install yourself (for free) since they are emulators
@rubensantiagoguerrerovalle5490 is it it complicated or is it like downloading a game on a console
Can I capture video of my gameplay and save it directly on SD Card?
I love the content of this new device but could you help me findiing a webside where I can get the games for this emulators please?
Using a search engine and looking for the console you're interested with terms like roms will get you on the path.
What about Wii U? Wins Waker and Twilight Princess HD?
Nice video...can you please do a video on how to get streets of rage remake working for vita? I love that game.
Be careful with those triggers i already have a broken right one from a very small bump.... The plastic holding the trigger mechanism in place is kind of soft too hopefully somebody makes some nice replacement back plates soon
How long are we away from handheld PS3 emulation?
On Android it's a long ways off unless a suprise developer announces they've been working on it in the dark. To increase compatibility they'd probably need to work with the RPCS3 devs or even have them develop it, but PS3 is very demanding and only the most powerful Android phones and devices could even get some of it working...so I think it's potentially years away. But PC handhelds? The Deck does some PS3, the 7840u Windows handhelds can do a lot of PS3 (albeit not great battery life), but that's the state now.
La pantalla del rp4 pro tiene menos color y brillo que el rp3 plus?
How did you get Die Hard working on YabaSanshiro? On that level, I get no sound or other bugs/glitching, so would be helpful to know any specific settings, thanks.
I don't remember tweaking anything unless Vulkan wasn't selected as the renderer by default.
Thanks
Thanks bro i can play outrun at 60 all the time
what's your setup to filming a video?
I honestly need to improve it but I told myself I wouldn't invest unless my channel grew a bit more. Currently using a Logitech Brio to record and a Blue Snowball with a pop shield and boom for the audio. I capture the footage with Streamlabs OBS and I edit it in Sony Vegas 14 which had this ridiculous deal years ago to buy it for £1 so I did lol. My biggest problem is lighting and light reflection, I don't currently have a work space that is ideal for recording all this and that's something I'll think about later this year.
@@-roetaka you're doing Fine, keep UP bro
game name 2:25 ?
It's not a game it's a frontend called Pegasus.
What about latency?
People are complaining about it on reddit
hello. Is it possible to play Dark Souls 1 on rp4p?
If you sit at a bonfire or move to another area, the game will turn off.
maybe the 5 is what I'll go for
Hi can this be played on tv via hdmi and additional wireless controllers?
Yeah it has a Micro HDMI port and you can use Bluetooth for controllers.
@@-roetaka sweet! Thanks!
Can you run resident evil 1 remake in GameCube on this device?
Probably
That's what she said!
Hi I'm new to retroid pocket 4 pro i need help how to download games resident evil usa and bio hazard japan GameCube version
I play Steam and XBox ultimate for android with it . That's why you need more Ram and faster processor helps...
Can u play n64?
8:57 of course
3:05 - OMG. Side to side, it is painfuly obvious how shit the RP4P screen is compared with RP3+'s.
I probably just had the brightness all the way up on the 3, you can see the white text is really blurry so if I was recording it I would've turned the brightness down.
Well if i had the oden 2 i would say the same i would just get the regular retroid, but sincei dont i will go with the retroid pro
Does GTA SAN ANDREAS? work on ps2 emu
The game has an android port, it's one of the reasons I don't test games like that. But it most likely does emulate on ps2 perfectly.
@@-roetakael port en android es malo. El de ps2 es siempre mejor
Hello,
Thanks for your vidéo.
Please Could you test on PS2 kof2002 um and kof98 um ?
Thanks a lot
the first handheld you showed which has the playstation logo what device is that?
I'm gonna ask if you mute videos because I literally said what it is lol
Cam it run Persona 5 Royal
I. Just need to know hpw to add games and play 😢
I wish NetherSX2 apk come soon
Will never happen for legal issues :/
Warzone mobile is going to be perfect for this device
El 4 pro se ve muy apagado su pantalla sin color y sin brillo... la 3 plus por lo que se nota en este video su pantalla tiene mas color y mas linda que la 4 pro
Im glad the base model has sold out, i need to stop buying these fricking things! 🤣
there is a cuphead port for android so i would play that one honestly
If it isn't easy to google I'm not going to trust it lol, I'm not reading good things.
Give skyward sword he a go on skyline edge 69. You’ll be very surprised
Am i the only one who's thinking that RP3+ has better screen resolution/quality than RP4 pro?
Based on their site the RP4 should have a better screen as the only difference is the 3 has 450 nits and the 4 has 500 nits. But before the OTA the quality was not great, so that's all I can think of, if you haven't installed Retroid's update for the RP4 it's gonna look worse for sure.
@@-roetaka no no, i mean i'm pertaining to your devices in the video. For me, the screen of your RP3+ is kinda brighter and more clear than your RP4 pro. Maybe it has something to do with brightness level or maybe it's just my eyes i dunno hahaha
@@AelYap pienso lo mismo, y por lo que ví en otros videos la pantalla del rp3 plus tiene colores mejpres que la de r4 pro
Battery, display and triggers for me is a big no
Just here lookin for the cheapest way I can put a PS2 in my pocket🤷🏾♂️
Any decision? Lol
@@Evan-lk5wt Yeah, kinda... I couldn't really decide so I just got another rg405m, put Gamma OS on it, and order (BetterButtons) 3d printed stacked triggers. My first 405m has a cracked and I've been looking online for months to find replacement screen. Anbernic won't send replacement unless you've bought your device directly from them so keep that in mind whn shoppin around... My other top choices are Odin2, RP4 pro and RG Cube. Cube screen might be too small for my type of gaming, Odin2 is just a bit more than I want to spend on pocket gaming, and rp4pro looks near perfect but not enough of a set up when the price is so close to Odin2
Im gonna passed on it android devices aren't worth it anymore
Nah I'll wait for RP5
why do you sound like your in my head?
You're smoking the good weed lol

A phone has a bigger battery than this
I'm very much of the mind set that I want a dedicated gaming handheld in addition, I'd rather not use my phone's battery for gaming if I need it for other things.
A $1000+ device has a better battery than a $200 device? You don't say.
Also, most phones actually still do not have a bigger battery than this.
Which phone has a battery bigger than 5000mah??
@@mikeyneeley A galaxy m14 is cheaper than the retroid pocket 4, smaller and has a 6000mha battery, batteries are generally not connected to price that much
